Abstract:
Speech understanding systems try to extract meaning from one or several word sequences hypotheses generated by a speech recognizer. Designers of these systems rely increasingly on robust matchers to perform this task; a robust matcher processes semantically important word islands rather than attempting to parse the entire word sequence. This thesis describes a robust matcher for speech understanding whose rules are learned automatically from training data. Learning is carried out by a new set of algorithms involving a new data structure, the Keyword Classification Tree (KCT). By eliminating th

In this thesis, an Experimental Radar System is designed and constructed for use in experimental radar studies such as clutter measurement and target detection, both in the laboratory and outdoor. COTS laboratory equipments are utilized as hardware elements of the radar and MATLAB is used as signal processing and user interface software tool. Vector signal generator (as transmitter), spectrum analyzer with vector signal analysis (as receiver), a high power amplifier, a low noise amplifier, horn antennas and a computer are the hardware units of the system. Various transmit signals are generated

This thesis analyzes the relationship between the capitalist system and the individual in Edward Bond&rsquo<br>s plays, Saved, Lear, Red, Black and Ignorant and The Tin Can People. Bond argues that the capitalist system is irrational and cruel since it violates the individual&rsquo<br>s inherent right to freedom, to dignity and to the pursuit of happiness. The capitalist system in Bond&rsquo<br>s mind shares some certain features with Karl Marx&rsquo<br>s analysis of the capitalists system. These features are the class conflict, inequality and inhumanity. The study aims to detect these feature

The subject of this study is the rural settlements in Classical Greece. There is no doubt that there were various factors determined the ancient settlement patterns in Greek countryside. Geographical conditions, socio-economic and political structures can be regarded as major significant factors behind the settlement practices of ancient societies. In this study the relationships between agricultural system and rural settlements of Classical Greece will be examined.

This thesis investigates the second language acquisition of the English article system by Turkish learners in order to find out the role of certain semantic universals of the Universal Grammar during the acquisition process. More specifically, the purpose is to see whether or not L1 Turkish learners of English fluctuate between two semantic notions namely<br>specificity and definiteness, and the effect of this fluctuation on acquisition. 120 students from three groups of learners at different proficiency levels (40 elementary, 40 intermediate and 40 upper &ndash<br>intermediate students) were

Abstract:
Fay's identity on Riemann surfaces is a powerful tool in the context of algebro-geometric solutions to integrable equations. This relation generalizes a well-known identity for the cross-ratio function in the complex plane. It allows to establish relations between theta functions and their derivatives. This offers a complementary approach to algebro-geometric solutions of integrable equations with certain advantages with respect to the use of Baker-Akhiezer functions. It has been successfully applied by Mumford et al. to the Korteweg-de Vries, Kadomtsev-Petviashvili and sine-Gordon equations.

In this thesis, the walking of a humanoid system is simulated applying an optimal predictive control algorithm. The simulation is built using Matlab and Simulink softwares. Four separate physical models are developed to represent the single support and the double support phases of a full gait cycle. The models are three dimensional and their properties are analogous to the human&rsquo<br>s. In this connection, the foot models in the double support phases include an additional joint which connects the toe to the foot. Abstract:
In this paper, we present a P2P-based database sharing system that provides information sharing capabilities through keyword-based search techniques. Our system requires neither a global schema nor schema mappings between different databases, and our keyword-based search algorithms are robust in the presence of frequent changes in the content and membership of peers. To facilitate data integration, we introduce keyword join operator to combine partial answers containing different keywords into complete answers. We also present an efficient algorithm that optimize the keyword join operations fo
