Keyword indexing is the problem of assigning keywords to text documents. It is an important task as keywords play crucial roles in several information retrieval tasks. The problem is also challenging as the number of text documents is increasing, and such documents come in different forms (i.e., scientific papers, online news articles, and microblog posts). This chapter provides an overview of keyword indexing and elaborates on keyword extraction techniques. The authors provide the general motivations behind the supervised and the unsupervised keyword extraction and enumerate several pioneering and state-of-the-art techniques. Feature engineering, evaluation metrics, and benchmark datasets used to evaluate the performance of keyword extraction systems are also discussed.

Abstract:
The text-mining process starts with a keyword search in text collections. Current text processing technology allows a search technique beyond simple Boolean searches by using natural language queries. Since search engines can recognize any of thousands of keywords and phrases but not the concepts behind the text, it is necessary for researchers to construct an automatic keyword extractor to generate the “Keyword List” for each document. Later, this list can act as the knowledge base to associate unorganized documents to meaningful classes. Failures in identifying the keywords for a certain concept will result in missing values or data for that specific concept.

Abstract:
Existing spatial keyword query methods usually evaluate text relevancy according to the frequency of occurrence of query keywords in the text information associated to spatial objects, without considering the degree of preference of users to different query keywords, and without considering semantic relevancy. To deal with the above problems, this chapter proposes an interactive personalized spatial keyword querying approach which is divided into two stages. In the offline processing stage, Gibbs algorithm is adopted to estimate the thematic probability distribution of text information associated to spatial objects, and then an LDA model is used for semantic expansion of spatial data set.

Abstract:
This research proposes a novel method of measuring the dynamics of semantic relatedness. Research on semantic relatedness has a long history in the fields of computational linguistics, psychology, computer science, as well as information systems. Computing semantic relatedness has played a critical role in various situations, such as data integration and keyword recommendation. Many researchers have tried to propose more sophisticated techniques to measure semantic relatedness. However, little research has considered the change of semantic relatedness with the flow of time and occurrence of events. The authors' proposed method is validated by actual corpus data collected from a particular context over a specific period of time. They test the feasibility of our proposed method by constructing semantic networks by using the corpus collected during a different period of time. The experiment results show that our method can detect and manage the changes in semantic relatedness between concepts. Based on the results, the authors discuss the need for a dynamic semantic relatedness paradigm.

Abstract:
This chapter presents a novel Selectivity-Based Keyword Extraction (SBKE) method, which extracts keywords from the source text represented as a network. The node selectivity value is calculated from a weighted network as the average weight distributed on the links of a single node and is used in the procedure of keyword candidate ranking and extraction. The selectivity slightly outperforms an extraction based on the standard centrality measures. Therefore, the selectivity and its modification – generalized selectivity as the node centrality measures are included in the SBKE method. Selectivity-based extraction does not require linguistic knowledge as it is derived purely from statistical and structural information of the network and it can be easily ported to new languages and used in a multilingual scenario. The true potential of the proposed SBKE method is in its generality, portability and low computation costs, which positions it as a strong candidate for preparing collections which lack human annotations for keyword extraction.

It is a pivotal task for a forensic investigator to search a hard disk to find interesting evidences. Currently, most search tools in digital forensic field, which utilize text string match and index technology, produce high recall (100%) and low precision. Therefore, the investigators often waste vast time on huge irrelevant search hits. In this chapter, an improved method for ranking of search results was proposed to reduce human efforts on locating interesting hits. The K-UIH (the keyword and user interest hierarchies) was constructed by both investigator-defined keywords and user interest learnt from electronic evidence adaptive, and then the K-UIH was used to re-rank the search results. The experimental results indicated that the proposed method is feasible and valuable in digital forensic search process.

Abstract:
Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has wide applications in public life. Either from a static image database or from the Web, one can search for a specific image, generally browse to make an interactive choice, and search for a picture to go with a broad story or to illustrate a document. Although CBIR has been well studied, it is still a challenging problem to search for images from a large image database because of the well-acknowledged semantic gap between low-level features and high-level semantic concepts. An alternative solution is to use keyword-based approaches, which usually associate images with keywords by either manually labeling or automatically extracting surrounding text from Web pages. Although such a solution is widely adopted by most existing commercial image search engines, it is not perfect. First, manual annotation, though precise, is expensive and difficult to extend to large-scale databases. Second, automatically extracted surrounding text might by incomplete and ambiguous in describing images, and even more, surrounding text may not be available in some applications. To overcome these problems, automated image annotation is considered as a promising approach in understanding and describing the content of images.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a persistent airway obstruction, is caused by continuous exposure to harmful particles or irritants. Airway inflammation contributes the pathogenesis of COPD. Thymoquinone, has an anti-inflammatory effect. This study aimed to examine the effect of thymoquinone on interleukin-8 (IL-8) level, percentage of FEV1, and COPD assessment test score (CAT) in stable chronic obstructive lung disease. Subjects and Method: A quasi-experiment with pretest and posttest control group was conducted at the outpatient pulmonology unit, Dr. Moewar

Abstract:
Background: In an era of explosive growth in biomedical evidence, improving systematic review (SR) search processes is increasingly critical. Text-mining tools (TMTs) are a potentially powerful resource to improve and streamline search strategy development. Two types of TMTs are especially of interest to searchers: word frequency (useful for identifying most used keyword terms, e.g., PubReminer) and clustering (visualizing common themes, e.g., Carrot2). Objectives: The objectives of this study were to compare the benefits and trade-offs of searches with and without the use of TMTs for evidence
