Abstract:
In this ever-changing technological landscape, the ability to quickly predict technological trends becomes crucial for any company or institute engaged in informed decision-making and strategic planning. Data for predicting technological trends can come from various sources such as patent data, which is easily accessible to the public due to the nature of patents. This research is aimed at patent analysis, focusing on combining the keyword- based method, social network analysis (SNA) method, and neural network prediction to propose a feasible keyword trend prediction method based on patent analysis by targeting upcoming keyword trends. More specifically, we utilize Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to predict changes in keyword frequency using keyword centralities as input. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed method, we constructed the input dataset using the USPTO patent database in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field. We then experimented to compare the proposed method with the benchmark method. Furthermore, to counteract the unbalanced nature of patent data, the SMOGN method is introduced. The results demonstrate its potential for application in broader contexts.

Abstract:
This study aims to gain a deep understanding of international baccalaureate (IB) primary years programme (PYP) teachers’ perceptions about the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in IB PYP classes. Moreover, it seeks to critically identify the teachers’ barriers and needs in order to integrate ICT into teaching and learning. Following a qualitative comparative case study research design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with IB PYP teachers and coordinators in Sweden and Greece. Critical theory, critical pedagogy and critical theory of technology (CTT) were used as the theoretical framework for analysing teachers’ perceptions. From a critical point of view, the study reveals that deskilling of teachers, intensification of teachers’ work, low school’s financial budget, parents’ financial burden, commodification and privatisation of IB education are the fundamental factors that negatively intervene in teachers’ work in both schools and perpetuate the status quo of teaching and learning processes through integration of ICT.

Augustsson, Jens, and Alexis Holm. "Framtidens konsumtion av digitala tjänster : En studie kring bruk av digitala tjänster på mobila enheter, baserat på ett Smart City-perspektiv." Thesis, Högskolan Väst, Avd för medier och design, 2013. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hv:diva-5453.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to find out how mobile user habits can provide a basis for applications and services based on a Smart City perspective, this by using two scientific methods, interviews and user diaries. The study will also analyze and develop the method for further studies in this subject. The cell phone has in recent years evolved into a unit where the original phone functions and features have become secondary. Even though its main purpose is still to communicate with others, it’s now done primarily through other types of services. Today the development goes from a use of digital services where each unit has a specific purpose, to a practise where they work together and share a common purpose. As a result of the fact that our use and our habits of these devices are changing, the nature of the services provided by these devices are also changing. Due to this, there is an ongoing evolution towards, and a demand for, new services that can take advantage of new technologies to dissolve the border between the digital and the physical reality. Which, from a Smart City perspective, could have great potential in several areas of social and organizational development. One can also se that the way we consume digital services is changing. We have gone from having a device centerd focus, were every unit has a specific purpose to a serviced centerd focus, were the units work as a collaborative ecosystem. These units share a collective pupose, to act as a window towards the internet.

Wang, I.-Hsiang Su, and 蘇王奕翔. "ICQ-Tree: An Inverted Code Quadtree for the Top-K Spatial Keyword Query over the Incremental Database." Thesis, 2018. http://ndltd.ncl.edu.tw/handle/9m98gv.

Full text
Abstract:
碩士<br>國立中山大學<br>資訊工程學系研究所<br>106<br>With the rapid development of geo-spatial data, the use of spatial databases has become more and more widespread. For example, if we enter the keyword ‘restaurant’ on Google Map, the system will display a number of restaurants near you, or upload photos with the location information in Instagram and uses hashtags to classify photos. The application of the geographic information has brought a lot of convenience and interests to our life. As the number of spatial objects and keyword objects increases, the data storage and the search efficiency become more important. A spatial keyword query consists of the spatial information and the textual information. Spatial information can be expressed as a point, a line, or the shape on a map; a keyword is the description or the user’s comment. In the space, for querying the top-k objects that match the keyword conditions, it is called the top-k spatial keyword query. Zhang et al. propose a data structure called the IL-Quadtree which combines the inverted index and the linear quadtree for reducing the storage size effectively. In order to further improve the efficiency of the top-k spatial keyword query algorithms, they propose a signature filtering technique. During the query process, it checks the signature to verify whether the node is a candidate node or not. This will reduce the times of traces around nodes. However, in their approach, a large number of quadtrees must be built to store data of objects. For n keywords, it creates n trees. When performing a signature check, each IL-Quadtree must be cross-checked. This will take long time to process the data. Therefore, in this thesis, we propose the ICQ-tree algorithm. Our ICQ-tree combines the quadtree and the inverted code that we have improved from the inverted index. The contribution of our approach is as follows. First, we only construct an ICQ-tree to store data, instead of building n quadtrees for the n keywords in the database. Second, each node of the ICQ-tree records the non-repetitive location, and each object is recorded only once. Finally, we enhance each node in the ICQ-tree with the inverted code. We can prune a node and all of its child nodes immediately, once we know that one of the query keywords is definitely not in the node. From our simulation results, we show that our proposed approach is more efficient than the IL-Quadtree algorithm.

Abstract:
What did it mean to be a stranger in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century England? How were other nations, cultures, and religions perceived? What happened when individuals moved between languages, countries, religions, and spaces? Keywords of Identity, Race, and Human Mobility analyses a selection of terms that were central to the conceptualisation of identity, race, migration, and transculturality in the early modern period. In many cases, the concepts and debates that they embody – or sometimes subsume – came to play crucial roles in the articulation of identity, rights, and power in subsequent periods. Together, the essays in this volume provide an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the development of these formative issues.

This book presents the proceedings of the conference held in Florence on 7 and 8 May 2009 upon the conclusion of a MUIR study. The inspiration behind it can be summarised in two keywords. The first is "modernity", because it focuses on the sectors of criminal liability of the doctor and the entrepreneur, those that have been most dramatically affected by social change and technological developments, straining to the limit the "classic" configuration of criminal law categories. The second is "case law", in the sense that we have sought to focus on the reality of living law and to investigate the concepts of the causality, blame and complicity of individuals as they are actually illustrated by precedents.

Abstract:
Most of the papers collected in this book resulted from presentations and discussions undertaken during the V Lablita Workshop that took place at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on August 23-25, 2011. The workshop was held in conjunction with the II Brazilian Seminar on Pragmatics and Prosody. The guiding themes for the joint event were illocution, modality, attitude, information patterning and speech annotation. Thus, all papers presented here are concerned with theoretical and methodological issues related to the study of speech. Among the papers in this volume, there are different theoretical orientations, which are mirrored through the methodological designs of studies pursued. However, all papers are based on the analysis of actual speech, be it from corpora or from experimental contexts trying to emulate natural speech. Prosody is the keyword that comes out from all the papers in this publication, which indicates the high standing of this category in relation to studies that are geared towards the understanding of major elements that are constitutive of the structuring of speech.

Abstract:
AbstractScience, Technology, and Innovation play a pivotal role in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030 (SF DRR). The International Consortium on Landslides (ICL) initiated the Sendai Landslide Partnerships 2015–2025 as a voluntary commitment to SF DRR. In 2020, the ICL launched the Kyoto 2020 Commitment for Global Promotion of Understanding and Reducing Landslide Disaster Risk (KLC2020) as a follow-up of the Sendai Landslide Partnerships 2015–2025.Landslide-related scientific articles discussing methodologies were extracted from the Web of Science and SCOPUS, using different search terms in the article titles, abstracts, and keywords. SCOPUS yielded a somewhat higher number of extracted articles, especially when using article abstracts. The extracted articles were mainly related to assessment, hazard, and risk, and less to vulnerability or damage.A list of 22 international standards containing landslide-related terms (landslide, debris flow, rock fall) was prepared using the Online Browsing Platform by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This is a rather small fraction of over 22,000 ISO standards published so far. Next, two ISO standards are discussed in a more detailed way. Additionally, a set of Austrian standards in the field of torrent control are mentioned. The International Consortium on Landslides with its global membership may contribute more to the field of standardization for landslide disaster risk reduction.

Abstract:
Research suggests that there is not enough integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) into subject teaching by graduate teachers across a variety of school settings. This points in part to the inadequacy of preservice teacher preparation. Hence, this research explores the question of how preservice teachers develop the necessary competence to teach, particularly science subjects, using ICTs, by examining the opportunities to learn (OTLs) that are provided at three different South African universities. Abstract:
A descriptive study was conducted to look into the effects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on academic libraries in Nigeria universities.. Four research questions guided the study. A review of the related literature was also carried out. The study took place in nine selected Nigerian universities. Survey participants were librarians and library officers from nine state-run university libraries. To collect data, the researchers had used san online survey template and a questionnaire. The information gathered was interpreted with descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate that university libraries have differing degrees of ICT infrastructure capacity. The automation of library materials has begun, and database technology has vastly increased information storage and retrieval. Insufficient library funding/financial assistance, as well as inadequate technological infrastructures, was also found. In order to provide efficient resources, any division in such an academic library should indeed be computerized. Governments should prioritize library funding and financial assistance in their budgets. Under their small budgets, management could perhaps emphasize ICT spending.. Abstract:
Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is an umbrella term that includes any communication device encompassing: Computers and network, hardware and software, smart phones, satellites system, radio and television and so on, as well as the various services and application associated with them. Undoubtedly ICT is the greatest achievement of the 21st Century. It is believed that ICT have the potential to help the young graduates/ youths develop various skills including entrepreneurial skills. In Nigeria a considerable part of young graduates/youths remains unemployed; a possible solution for this problem might be self-employment. ICT skills which the young generation are very much familiar with can contribute to the development of an entrepreneurial career. This study tries to define those ICT tools mostly used by the graduates/youths and how possibly best they can be used to generate income and employ others. The paper concludes that the need for ICT in our daily life is imperative and cannot be overemphasized, hence the need to sieze the opportunity in order to generate income and employment. However the studys recommends among others that; an ICT skill based acquisition centres should be established by the government and other relevant stakeholders in order to equip the young Nigerian graduates/youths with the necessary skills they need to be self-employed. Abstract:
STEM-education is a modern effective approach that nowadays can be interpreted in very different ways and it even has some modification (STEM/STEAM/STREAM). Anyway, the “New Ukrainian school” concept includes approaches similar to STEM-education. However, there wasn’t analyzed the current state of STEM-education in Ukraine. We propose to analyses it by using SEO analysis of one of the most popular STEM-oriented cloud environment in Ukraine stemua.science. It is proposed to use the cycle for cloud-based educational environments (publishing/SEO analysis/team’s brainstorm/prediction/creation of further plan) to improve their efficiency. It is found, that STEM-based and traditional publications are characterized by similar demand of educational process stakeholders. However, the way how teachers and students found the publication proves that traditional keywords (47.99 %) used significantly more common than STEM keywords (2.67 %). Therefore, it is proved that STEM-methods are less in demand than traditional ones. However, considering the huge positive effect of the STEM method, stemua.science cloud educational environment provides a positive effect on the educational process by including the STEM-aspects during finding traditional approaches of education by stakeholders of the educational process.
