Abstract:
Recently, the number of sites on the Internet which give users the opportunity to write their ideas and opinions for the public to read have been increasing. In addition, the number of people who want to know the opinions of others about interesting products has also been increasing. However, it is very difficult for people to read complete reviews on the Internet. This study tries to develop a new system for the analysis of reviews, a system which shows evaluation information about products using graphs of evaluation keywords. This paper focuses on the extraction of evaluation keywords from reviews on the Internet. This paper proposes a method for extracting evaluation keywords and displays its results as graphs. It employs HK Graph (Hierarchical Keyword Graph), which can visualize the relationship among words in a hierarchical network structure based on the co-occurrence information for the keyword graph.

Abstract:
Background The internet is an accessible resource for health care information and is often used by patients to learn about melanoma. The keywords that are used in internet searches can reflect internet users’ interest in specific topics and the public’s awareness of health-related issues. Objective This study aims to describe the most frequently used keywords, questions, and corresponding websites in internet searches for melanoma. Methods This is an observational study using data retrieved from Google Trends, Alexa Internet, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and SE Ranking for the keywords “melanoma” and “skin cancer.” Results Average search interest as per Google Trends was greater for the keyword “skin cancer” than for the keyword “melanoma.” Searches for the top 25 keywords in 3 databases resulted in 34 unique melanoma keywords and 33 unique skin cancer keywords. Melanoma keywords were most frequently related to clinicopathologic classification (n=11, 32%), and skin cancer keywords were most frequently about diagnosis (n=14, 42%). Questions about the prognosis of melanoma appeared most frequently among the most popular melanoma questions, but general questions or questions about the diagnosis of melanoma contributed the greatest proportion of searches by search volume. Skin cancer question searches were most commonly about diagnosis. The highest proportion of searches for popular melanoma and skin cancer keywords most frequently sent traffic to websites from nonprofit organizations and media companies, respectively. Conclusions We identified common keywords, questions, and websites used to access information about melanoma on the internet. These data may help health care providers and public health professionals when educating and counseling patients and the public about skin cancer.

This study analyzed digital item metadata and keywords from Internet search engines to learn what metadata elements actually facilitate discovery of digital collections through Internet keyword searching and how significantly each metadata element affects the discovery of items in a digital repository. The study found that keywords from Internet search engines matched values in eight metadata elements and resulted in landing visits to the digital repository. Findings of the study indicate that three specific metadata elements are effective in enhancing discoverability of digital collections through Internet search engines, including Dublin Core metadata elements Title, Description, and Subject.

Since the early times, use of natural resources has followed the same pattern: acquire materials, manufacture, use and dispose. Nevertheless, it is now clear that this is not a sustainable model, considering the constantly increasing demand Error! Reference source not found. and our planet’s finite resources [2]. While efficiency in use of resources and recycling have been improving, there is still more to be done. In this context, Circular Economy (CE) has come into the limelight in recent years, inspiring the transition of modern societies from the ‘take-makedispose’ model to an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design, featuring a continuous cycle that preserves and enhances existing resources while optimising their yields. In the technological front, advances in computing and networking technologies are driving the rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) landscape, with IoT-based products and services being technically and economically feasible leveraged by the 5G evolution. Billions of smart objects are already deployed today, and many more such devices are deployed daily, creating an open, global network connecting people, data, and “things”, and generating a massive potential for innovative applications and services leveraging the convergence of a consumer-business-industrial Internet. However, the realization of the IoT potential requires overcoming significant business and technical hurdles that still exist.

Abstract:
Introduction The purpose of this study was to quantify the frequency and timing of Canadians' Internet searches for information on modifying cancer prevention-related behavioural risk factors. Methods We used the Google AdWords Keyword tool to estimate the number of Internet searches in Canada from July 2010 to May 2011 for content associated with the keywords "physical activity / exercise", "healthy eating / weight loss" and "quit smoking". Results For ''physical activity / exercise,'' 663 related keywords resulted in 117 951 699 searches. For ''healthy eating / weight loss,'' 687 related search terms yielded 98 277 954 searches. ''Quit smoking'' was associated with 759 related keywords with 31 688 973 searches. All search patterns noticeably peaked in January 2011. Conclusion Many Canadians are actively searching for information on the Internet to support health behaviour change associated with cancer prevention, especially during the month of January. To take advantage of this opportunity, key stakeholders in cancer prevention need to identify knowledge translation priorities and work with health agencies to develop evidence-based strategies to support Internet-facilitated behaviour change.

Abstract:
With the rapid development of Internet, especially the mobile Internet, the new applications or network attacks emerge in a high rate in recent years. More and more traffic becomes unknown due to the lack of protocol specifications about the newly emerging applications. Automatic protocol reverse engineering is a promising solution for understanding this unknown traffic and recovering its protocol specification. One challenge of protocol reverse engineering is to determine the length of protocol keywords and message fields. Existing algorithms are designed to select the longest substrings as protocol keywords, which is an empirical way to decide the length of protocol keywords. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to determine the optimal length of protocol keywords and recover message formats of Internet protocols by maximizing the likelihood probability of message segmentation and keyword selection. A hidden semi-Markov model is presented to model the protocol message format. An affinity propagation mechanism based clustering technique is introduced to determine the message type. The proposed method is applied to identify network traffic and compare the results with existing algorithm.

Abstract:
Thesis (M. Eng.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2008.<br>Includes bibliographical references (p. 71-72).<br>The web today is accessed primarily through graphical user interfaces although some of its functionality can be more efficiently invoked through a command line interface. This thesis presents Inky, a sloppy command line for the web. This interface accepts commands that may be out of order, have missing arguments, contain synonyms or is otherwise sloppy and determines possible interpretations. It then presents these interpretations to the user, who can then pick one to execute. The interpretations are presented to the user as she types, providing responsive feedback on the state of the system. Inky uses specification files that indicate how to recognize a type or function in a command, how to display it to the user, and how to translate it into code. It also contains an interaction window and a keyword engine that determines the completions. This thesis argues that this interaction style is better for some functionality than the standard website interface. It also explores whether the sloppiness and feedback are useful in counteracting the negative effects of traditional command line interfaces.<br>by Victoria H. Chou.<br>M.Eng.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the practices and uses of the Internet and of Windows Live Messenger. It charts out different uses of the Internet and WLM among young people, and analyses the way they are adopted, at a time when the individual is experimenting with social and cultural identities. It deals with the specificities of WLM, and the types of sociability associated with it. The results of the study show that practices linked to the objects studied evolve in some areas, while remaining stable in others. The thesis seeks to establish the key traits which go to make up, socially and technically « young people’s culture », and lays out the different criteria specific to the propagation and adoption of a technical artifact by young people. Understanding and analyzing the social uses of WLM allows us to identify the relational context surrounding its insertion and the social and cultural evolutions implied by associated practices. For this reason, the study is based on a corpus composed of two empirical data-sets, recorded three years apart, involving middle-school, high-school and university students from the Côte d’Or region of Burgundy. From a theoretical viewpoint, the study is based on user sociology and approaches the Internet and WLM as social and technical artifacts. This perspective questions the concepts of digital culture, of digital and social divides, of social use and of social relations. A final part of the thesis applies the findings to the development of ICT in Burgundy and in rural regions, in the form of a set of guidelines. A series of three interviews were conducted with local politicians elected to the French senate, in order to establish the vision of political leaders both on local and national levels, concerning the role and the issues surrounding ICT from the point of view of urban development, and their implications, in terms of social relations, for maintaining social cohesion

Abstract:
Background. Digital maturity is an important topic for the public sector to respond the higher demands on digital solutions. Only 46 percent of the public sectors has a clear digitization strategy. Different organizations have different levels of digital maturity fulfillment. There are several reasons why organizations are interested in increasing the digital maturity. In order to increase efficiency, degree of innovation, customer value, improve decision making through digital transformations. Employees are the most important resource for an organization’s digital transformation. That is the reason why the organization should ensure their employees’ level of digital maturity addition to organizational development. By studying the municipality’s digital maturity, it will contribute to a research on the digital maturity on an individual level form the employees’ perspective. Purpose. The purpose of this thesis is to contribute with knowledge about how municipal employee’s digital maturity appears and to access the factors that are important to consider while implementing new technology in the organization. The factors will contribute to practical applications that encourage a higher level of employees’ digital maturity. Method. Based on the purpose, a qualitative study has been conducted. Twelve municipal employees with different background, position, and gender were interviewed to collect empirical data for a larger perspective on the whole municipality and IoT, Internet of Things, has been used as an investigation tool for this study. The analysis of the empirical data was based on our own definition of digital maturity at an individual level, which was based on previous research. By using the definition and other theoretical sources, the empirical material has been analyzed. Analysis and conclusion. The result of the thesis unveiled that there is a huge variation of the digital maturity level on municipal employees regarding to IoT. The main categories that the digital maturity is based on are individual's attitude, knowledge and use of the technology. The study unveiled that there is an interplay between these three categories. The factors that affect thesis categories also have an impact on the digital maturity on an individual level as well. The factors with an impact on municipal employees’ digital maturity are: individual interest, work tasks, experience, manager or leader, digitization strategy and technical education.<br>Bakgrund.

Buildings are experiencing tremendous transformation, where Internet of things (IoT) is been used to transform traditional buildings into smart structures. While there are viable IoT techniques, developing IoT applications and operations to fully realise the technology's promise is needed. This may be done successfully by bridging the gaps in the present research to establish a foundation for future investigations. This study analysed extant literature in IoT (between 2008 and 2022) through a bibliometric review to tease out critical measures for their integration and transformation. The study adopted a science mapping quantitative literature review approach and employed bibliometric and visualisation techniques to systematically investigate data. The Scopus database was used to collect data and VOSviewer software to analyse the data collected to determine the strengths, weights, clusters, research trends in IoT. Important findings emerging from the study include recent literature by various researchers on IoT applications in buildings. The shift in recent patterns of research from developed to developing countries. Eighty-nine (89) keywords were analysed and divided into six clusters. Each cluster is discussed to present its research area and associated future studies in relation to Smart buildings. This paper uses bibliometric analysis to unpick recent trends in IoT and its relevant application to buildings. The paper provides a blueprint for future IoT research and practice, needed awareness and future strategy directions for IoT applications in construction. This creates opportunities to transition to more sustainable construction sector

Abstract:
AbstractTo gather public opinion data on sensitive topics in real-time, researchers are exploring the use of Internet search data such as Google Trends (GT). First, this chapter describes the characteristics and nature of GT data, and then provides a case study that examines the salience of perceived threats related to immigration in Germany based on the share of Google search queries that include language about these threats. Last, we discuss the advantages and possible challenges of utilizing GT data in social scientific research. We used the national polling results for the German right-wing party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD)—which runs on a largely anti-immigrant platform—as a criterion measure. GT data did not consistently predict polling data in the expected direction in real-time, but it was consistently predictive of future polling trends (35–104 weeks later) at a moderate level (r = .25–.50), although the size of the correlations varied across time periods and groups of keywords. Our mixed results highlight the low reliability of GT data, but also its largely untapped potential as a leading indicator of public opinion, especially on sensitive topics such as the perceived threats of immigration.

Abstract:
African governments are spending over 1US$bn per year on digital surveillance technologies which are being used without adequate legal protections in ways that regularly violate citizens’ fundamental human rights. This report documents which companies, from which countries, are supplying which types of surveillance technology to African governments. Without this missing detail, it is impossible to adequately design measures to mitigate and overcome illegal surveillance and violations of human rights. Since the turn of the century, we have witnessed a digitalisation of surveillance that has enabled the algorithmic automation of surveillance at a scale not previously imaginable. Surveillance of citizens was once a labour and time-intensive process. This provided a practical limit to the scope and depth of state surveillance. The digitalisation of telephony has made it possible to automate the search for keywords across all mobile and internet communications. For the first time, state surveillance agencies can do two things: (a) conduct mass surveillance of all citizens’ communications, and (b) micro-target individuals for in-depth surveillance that draws together in real-time data from mobile calls, short message service (SMS), internet messaging, global positioning system (GPS) location, and financial transactions. This report was produced by qualitative analysis of open-source data in the public domain. The information presented is drawn from a diverse range of sources, including open government data sets, export licence portals, procurement notices, civil society databases of surveillance contracts, press releases from surveillance companies, academic articles, reports, and media coverage. The research is organised using a typology of five categories of surveillance technology. We did not set out to detail every technology available, every company, or every supply contract. Instead, we document the main companies and countries selling digital surveillance technologies to African governments. Rather than focus on the technical functionality distinguishing each product offering, we highlight five of the most important types of surveillance technology: internet interception, mobile interception, social media surveillance, ‘safe city’ technologies for the surveillance of public spaces, and biometric identification technologies.

Pasupuleti, Murali Krishna. Scalable Quantum Networks: Entanglement-Driven Secure Communication. National Education Services, 2025. https://doi.org/10.62311/nesx/rrvi525.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract: Scalable quantum networks, powered by entanglement-driven secure communication, are poised to revolutionize global information exchange, cybersecurity, and quantum computing infrastructures. Unlike classical communication systems, quantum networks leverage quantum entanglement and superposition to enable ultra-secure data transmission, quantum key distribution (QKD), and instantaneous information sharing across large-scale networks. This research explores the fundamental principles of entanglement-based communication, the role of quantum repeaters, quantum memory, and multi-nodal entanglement distribution in overcoming photon loss, decoherence, and distance limitations in quantum networks. Additionally, it examines the hybrid integration of quantum-classical networking architectures, real-world experimental implementations such as satellite-based quantum communication and metropolitan-scale quantum cryptography, and the scalability challenges related to hardware, error correction, and network synchronization. The study also addresses post-quantum cryptography, quantum-resistant algorithms, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities in quantum communication, offering a comprehensive roadmap for the development of secure, scalable, and globally interconnected quantum networks. Keywords: Scalable quantum networks, quantum entanglement, entanglement distribution, quantum key distribution (QKD), secure communication, quantum repeaters, quantum memory, photon loss mitigation, quantum cryptography, post-quantum security, hybrid quantum-classical networks, metropolitan-scale quantum networks, satellite-based quantum communication, quantum internet, quantum coherence, quantum error correction, quantum teleportation, multi-nodal quantum entanglement, cybersecurity in quantum networks, quantum-resistant algorithms.

Abstract:
The article studies social media as a communication platform during the war. The set of mass communication tools to meet the audience’s information needs, coordination of volunteer activities, popularization of the volunteer movement, and involvement of the Internet community in helping the Armed Forces were analyzed. During the Russian-Ukrainian war, social media became the platform where the exchange of information takes place much faster; good analytics could be found quickly, which were pushed out of the information space. Also, social media have taken on the role of a platform where you can coordinate work, unite society around important issues, organize assistance to the army, and report on the needs of the Armed Forces. That is why the presentation of volunteering in social media is considered a relevant research topic because the presentation of volunteering in social networks has generally changed the content of blogging. Stars of show business, politicians, people of art, and educational and scientific fields have done incredible things with social media’s help in organizing military aid. We believe that the volunteer movement through social media has expanded the functions and role of these communication platforms, demonstrating the importance of Internet communication and the effectiveness of using the latest media tools in wartime. The historiography of the study covers the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists. Among them are L. Horodenko, V. Hvozdiev, B. Potiatynyk, G. Synorub, A. Rohulskyi, D. Rashkoff, and others. The war situation in Ukraine has opened up new requests for blogging activities, exceptional support, and initiation of volunteering. The content of bloggers is now 80 percent filled with the topic of war. The presentation of volunteer work is considered individually and collectively on behalf of foundations and public organizations. We believe that a significant advantage of an active volunteer movement in social networks is fast communication, which contributes to the rapid resolution of crucial tasks. Keywords: social media, volunteering, information, war.

Abstract:
Main objectives of the study. Women’s online media make up a significant part of the Ukrainian media market. There are online magazines, online newspapers, online sites of printed women’s publications on the Internet, and there are those resources that simply call themselves sites for women, but by all indications we can classify them as online media. The content of women’s mass media is mainly characterized by narrow thematic content, gender orientation, light and positive content. But on February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded the territory of Ukraine on a full scale, and the content of many Ukrainian women’s online media also underwent changes. The topic of war appeared in the content of online media for women. However, some women’s online media haven`t changed their content and main topics. The purpose of the study is to show how women’s online media publish war-related material on their pages. The set goal involves solving the following tasks: to find out how are women’s Ukrainian online media functioning in 2022-2023; select those whose pages contain materials about the war; to analyze military-themed publications in women’s online media. The subject of the research is materials related to the Russian-Ukrainian war in women’s online media (“Ukrainki”, “4 Mama”, “Wonder Ukraine”, “Clutch.ua”, “Divoche. Media”) for 2022-2023. The novelty of the study is that for the first time the content of women’s online media (“Ukrainki”, “4 Mama”, “Wonder Ukraine”, “Clutch.ua”, “Divoche. Media”) on the topic of the war for 2022-2023 was investigated. Findings. It was examined that the genre palette of materials is diverse, but informational materials still predominate. In terms of topics, the following prevail: social and everyday problems, psychological problems, volunteering, military, activities of showbiz stars during the war, migration (refugees), occupation, stories from life, news of events from the life of the country and the world. Keywords: women’s magazines, online media for women, Russian-Ukrainian war, content, topic.

Demchenko, Dmytro. DEMASSIFICATION OF SOCIAL PROCESSES IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATION (TO THE PROBLEM OF THE DICHOTOMY OF “ELITE-MASS” AS A POLITICAL COMMUNICATION PARADOX). Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2024.54-55.12171.

Full text
Abstract:
The article aims to analyze a complicated process of the society’s main components – elite, mass communication, and masses – in their interaction and interdependence from the historical perspective. Due to industrialization and modernization of the life quality, the social life changes radically, and the essence of every component of the society changes as well. The elite loses its dynastic character. The media stop to play the role of a mediator taking on the obligations of a collective agitator and propagandist, and the mass stops to be cloth for wiping shoes. It starts to form a mass audience and, by that, obtains new forms that must be taken into account by social institutions. Together with that the collective views are substituted by the views which are stronger than the ones of a separate individual. One of the main conclusions of the investigation is as follows. The formation of the “consumer society” and the strengthening of the mass communication role resulted in the appearance of “mediocracy” which factually introduced an absolute elite dependence on it and conferred the right of media to set the social agenda. The mass turned out to be a silent majority, a unity of conformity-oriented people. These people become simultaneously a product of mass communication impact because they dictate what one must read, listen to, and watch from the media menu. They force MMC to satisfy their unassuming needs making the content trivial and commodificated. In other words, the mutual process of the interaction of the media, “impossible independence” and the conscious “communicative consensus” of individuals who are willingly united with the mass audience takes place. The creation of the internet due to “digital anonymity” and the autonomy of the consumer formed the conditions for the self-determined citizens and gave the elite a modest place in the “cyber democracy”. However, the increase in individual self-isolation leads to his gradual loss of “social capital,” and that threatens to replace the direct experience with a virtual environment that will make it very difficult to differentiate reality from fiction. Keywords: elite, mass, media, mass communication, information space, globalization.

Melnyk, Yuriy. Academic Journal Website Model. KRPOCH, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.26697/preprint.melnyk.1.2018.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: The tens of thousands of academic journal websites that are on the Internet today often do not have a clear organizational structure for their website. If most of them are convenient enough for readers (if the journal is open access), then many have problems informing authors about the conditions, the process of submitting and reviewing the manuscript. The Editorial Offices empirically populate the journal's website with content that can change dramatically (both in terms of website design and content) as the journal develops. Aim of Study: To develop a website model for an academic journal that takes into account the basic requirements for the preparation, publication, and archiving of high quality scientific manuscripts. Material and Methods: The academic journal website model is based on a structural-functional approach. The website content consists of text and integrated applications. This model takes into account the basic requirements for the preparation, publication, and archiving of high-quality open access scientific manuscripts, as well as the indexing of journal articles by leading indexing agencies. Results: The academic journal website model is structured with the following menu and submenu elements: 1. HOME: 1.1. Journal information; 1.2. From the editorial office; 1.3. Databases, Indexing; 2. EDITORIAL BOARD: 2.1. Editorial board; 2.2. Reviewers; 2.3. Editing and reviewing process; 3. EDITORIAL POLICIES: 3.1. Editorial policies; 3.2. Plagiarism policy; 3.3. Open access policy; 3.4. The ethics codex of scientific publications; 3.5. Disclaimer; 3.6. License terms; 3.7. Terms of publications (fee); 4. ARCHIV: 4.1. Previous issues; 4.2. Current issue; 4.3. Articles online first; 5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS: 5.1. General recommendations; 5.2. Manuscript templates; 5.3. Supplemental materials; 6. STATISTICS: 6.1. Publications; 6.2. Authors; 6.3. Readers; 7. CONTACTS: 7.1. Contact; 7.2. Subscriptions; 7.3. Search. Conclusions: This academic journal website model was implemented for the International Journal of Science Annals (IJSA). Authors and readers of IJSA noted the advantages of the model proposed by the author, including: a convenient and understandable website interface, the availability of the necessary hyperlinks to the pages of the journal's website and external media (sites of indexed agencies, library archives, etc.), convenient search for information on the website and published in the journal articles (by author, publication, text of the article), availability of integrated applications (online submission of manuscripts, filing appeals against the decision of reviewers and complaints about published articles, viewing the interactive printed version of the journal, etc.), availability of templates (for authors, reviewers), availability of multiple formats for archiving articles (PDF, DOAJ, XML, TXT), the ability to choose the style of citing the article and the website language (English, Ukrainian), etc. Keywords: journal, model, website, academic, indexing
