Abstract:
Palabras chave: Arte, Memória, Individual, Coletiva, Subjetivo, Esquecimento, Frida Khalo, Pavel Egüez, Ana Maria Pacheco.*********************************************************Memory and Obliviousness in Art: Studies of some worksAbstractThis article aims to gather elements so that art is thought as a place of both individual and collective memory. It investigates the subjective feature of memory, which leads the artist to add his desires, fears, fantasies and beliefs to these memories. The article also discusses the obliviousness seeing that memory can also revisit facts and unveil what one wanted to conceal, hence the confrontation of official stories takes place passing on to obliviousness the version of the vanquished . To defend this concept, the article has been based on some works of art made by Frida Kahlo, Pavel Egüez and Ana Maria Pacheco. Abstract:

Abstract:
Thirty-nine Thai rice cultivars, including 17 non-colored rice cultivars and 22 colored rice cultivars (black rice cultivars and red rice cultivars), were investigated for γ-oryzanol content. The γ-oryzanol content of non-colored rice cultivars and colored rice cultivars was found to be 226.40 ± 17.50 μg/g to 411.80 ± 19.80 μg/g and 295.80 ± 15.40 μg/g to 459.80 ± 6.60 μg/g, respectively. Black rice cultivars seem to have higher γ-oryzanol content than do red rice and non-colored rice cultivars. The highest γ-oryzanol levels were identified in Khao Jao Dam Sa-Nit, a black rice cultivar, which contained 1.55 and 2.03 times more γ-oryzanol than Khao Man Bpoo, a red rice cultivar with lowest γ-oryzanol levels, and Khao Gor Kor 57, a non-colored rice cultivar with lowest γ-oryzanol levels, respectively. For further investigation, the effects of gamma irradiation on the γ-oryzanol content of four germinated Thai market rice cultivars, Khao Pathum Thani 1, Khao Gor Kor 31, Khao Gor Kor 41, and Khao Gor Kor 57, was investigated. The highest increase in γ-oryzanol content among the gamma irradiated rice cultivars was identified in Khao Pathum Thani 1 and Khao Gor Kor 31, which had γ-oryzanol levels approximately 1.27 times higher than that of the control rice (non-gamma irradiated rice). Our report contains basic knowledge about creating new rice lines that are rich in highly beneficial nutrients.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Halocidin is an antimicrobial peptide found in the tunicate. A series of experiments were previously conducted in an attempt to develop a novel antibiotic derived from halocidin, as the peptide was determined to evidence profound antimicrobial activity against a variety of antibiotic-resistant microbes, with significantly less toxicity to human blood cells. In this study, we assessed the validity of one of the halocidin congeners, called Khal, as a new antibiotic for the treatment of systemic bacterial infections. Our in vitro antimicrobial tests showed that the MICs of Khal against several gram-positive bacteria were below 16 μg/ml in the presence of salt. We also determined that Khal retained sufficient target selectivity to discern microbial and human blood cells and was therefore capable of efficiently killing invading pathogens. Furthermore, Khal caused no aggregation problems upon incubation with human serum and also proved to be resistant to proteolysis by enzymes occurring in human serum. In the following experiments conducted with a mouse model of Listeria monocytogenes infection, we demonstrated that a single intravenous inoculation with Khal resulted in significant therapeutic effects on the survival of mice. In addition, our bacterial-enumeration analysis showed that after Listeria infection, livers and spleens from Khal-treated mice generated a great deal fewer recoverable CFU. Finally, the antibiotic effects of Khal were evaluated under confocal microscopy after we immunostained the liver sections with anti-Khal antibody. It was concluded that Khal bound specifically to the surfaces of bacteria colonized in the mouse liver and killed the bacteria rapidly.

The stars tremble in their courses over man’s upward march lestthis fallen star should become the perfect moon!’The central question this article addresses is whether human beingscan act creatively. I shall first tackle the related question of how God’s creativityis distinguished from that of humanity and then move on to themore complex question of the nature of human creativity.God’s Creativity is Different from That ofHumankindThe Qur’an relates rubb (lord) to khalq (creation):He said: “Our Lord [rubb] is He who gives to everythmg its . . .[khalq] . . . and further gave (it) guidance. (Qur’an 20:50)’The noun khalq is considered by lexicographers to be derived from theroot verb khaluqu (to create, to make, to originate). And if God (ulKhaliq) created or orignated, then khalaqa is a verb that signifies His creativeability. According to al Raghib, khalq is used to describe the creativity(ibda) of a thing without imitation (ikhtiza’): He assigns this roleof khulq to God (al Khaliq). For a1 Tabataba‘i “the God of the universe isone, He alone created and He alone manages it.“ In fact, the link betweenGod as rabb and khalq is accentuated by al Tabari, who considers rubb tobe “the owner to whom the creation . . . belongs.’“ Moreover, this...

Abstract:
Khao chae--aromatic soaked rice--is served only during the hot summer months in Thailand. Its exquisite taste and laborious preparation beckoned the author, Su-Mei Yu, back to her birthplace. Skilled elderly cooks recruited by friends abruptly changed their minds about sharing their methods. These refusals led to an understanding of their superstitious beliefs. With those who believe otherwise, the author not only learned how to make several versions of khao chae, but their shared memories taught her the dish's history and its influence on the people who make and eat it. Its ancient tradition binds together the people of a displaced nation, the Mon, among whom khao chae originated. Their ancient New Year custom, adopted by the Thais, became a summer food tradition in the Royal court of King Chulalongkhorn (1868-1910), one of the most celebrated times for Thai culinary art. The court turned the cooking of khao chae into a competitive feat. Although more than a century has passed, and despite climatic change and westernization of Thai culture, the remembrances of magical feasts of khao chae floated back as the summer heat stirred the minds of elderly folks.

Abstract:
The Rub’ Al-Khali basin in Saudi Arabia remains unexplored and lacks data availability due to its remoteness and the challenging nature of its terrain. Thus far, there are neither digital geologic models nor synthetic seismic data from this specific area accessible for testing research techniques and analysis. In this study, we build a 2D viscoelastic model of the eastern part of the Rub’ Al-Khali basin and generate a corresponding dual-component seismic data set. We compile high-resolution depth models of compressional- and shear-wave velocities, density, as well as compressional- and shear-wave quality factors from published data. The compiled models span Neoproterozoic basement up to Quaternary sand dunes. We then use the finite-difference technique to model the propagation of seismic waves in the compiled viscoelastic medium of eastern Rub’ Al-Khali desert. In particular, we generate vertical and horizontal components of the shot gathers with accuracy to the fourth and second orders in space and time, respectively. The viscoelastic models and synthetic seismic datasets are made available in an open-source site for prospective re-searchers who desire to use them for their research. Users of these datasets are urged to make their findings also accessible to the geoscience community as a way of keeping track of developments related to the Rub’ Al-Khali desert.

Abstract:
Khao Mak is a sweet fermented rice-based dessert with a unique flavor profile commonly found throughout Thailand. The traditional starter culture (Look Pang) contains yeast, mold and herbs, which is used to ferment cooked glutinous rice. This research studied production of Khao Mak which resulted in volatile flavor compounds that were affected by rice varieties, including white glutinous rice (Kor Khor 6), Japanese rice (Hitomebore) and black glutinous rice (Kam Doi and Leum Phua). Total soluble solids (TSS) as degree Brix, pH, and alcohol concentrations were measured daily during the fermentation period. Volatile flavor compounds were separated and identified by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). At the end of the fermentation, samples had pH ranging from 3.91±0.16 to 4.30±0.09, total soluble solids of 32.65±1.65 to 44.02±1.72°Brix, and alcohol concentrations between 0.33±0.03 and 0.38±0.03% (v/v). The potent odors associated with Khao Mak were alcohol, wine-like, whiskey-like, solvent-like, sweet and fruity. The major volatile compounds, which have stimulant flavor in Khao Mak, included 1-propanal, 1-propanol-2-methyl, 1-butanal-3-methyl and acetic acid ethyl ester. Among all rice varieties tested, the white glutinous rice produced Khao Mak containing the highest TSS, alcohol concentrations followed by Hitomebore rice and black glutinous rice, respectively.

Abstract:
Discource about khalq al-Qur`ān (creation of al-Qur`an) is regarded one of the slander that is problematic. This discourse is not only ideological, but also political and has a background of power. This problem caused a debate which had led to bloodshed in the case of Khalid bin Abdullah al-Qisry, al-Ja'd bin Dirham and also the caliphate of al-Makmun. The thought of khalq al-Qur`ān was allegedly derived from Muktazilah. Therefore this article examines the process of takwil of the Muktazilah school regarding khalq al-Qur`an. With a qualitative approach this article concludes that Muktazilah argues that the Qur’an which is the word of Allah is a creature and hādīth (new). According to them, kalam is a certain editor that arises from the arrangement of letters which can be both understood and heard. On the other hand Muktazilah also argues that the word of Allah is not azalī (the age before everything existed). Their logic is that if Allah's word is azalī, when Allah was speaking, was not accompanied by the interlocutor, and this is irrational. Keywords: al-Qur`an, Muktazilah, Takwil.

Abstract:
Climate resilience of crops is critical for global food security. Understanding the genetic basis of plant responses to ambient environmental changes is key to developing resilient crops. To detect genetic factors that set flowering time according to seasonal temperature conditions, we evaluated differences of flowering time over years by using chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) derived from japonica rice cultivars “Koshihikari” × “Khao Nam Jen”, each with different robustness of flowering time to environmental fluctuations. The difference of flowering times in 9 years’ field tests was large in “Khao Nam Jen” (36.7 days) but small in “Koshihikari” (9.9 days). Part of this difference was explained by two QTLs. A CSSL with a “Khao Nam Jen” segment on chromosome 11 showed 28.0 days’ difference; this QTL would encode a novel flowering-time gene. Another CSSL with a segment from “Khao Nam Jen” in the region around Hd16 on chromosome 3 showed 23.4 days” difference. A near-isogenic line (NIL) for Hd16 showed 21.6 days’ difference, suggesting Hd16 as a candidate for this QTL. RNA-seq analysis showed differential expression of several flowering-time genes between early and late flowering seasons. Low-temperature treatment at panicle initiation stage significantly delayed flowering in the CSSL and NIL compared with “Koshihikari”. Our results unravel the molecular control of flowering time under ambient temperature fluctuations.

The ability to withstand drought was studied in R2 families raised by self-pollination from 149 R1 plants regenerated from callus of mature rice seed (cvs FR13A, Kurkaruppan, Khao Dawk Mali 105, Nam Sagui 19, and Calrose 76). Compared to parental controls, significant improvement in drought tolerance as assessed by dry weight production, was found in 6% of the cv. FR13A families, but not in any of Kurkaruppan or Khao Dawk Mali 105 families tested in a controlled-temperature glasshouse. When a similar study was undertaken using an in vitro selection step (using polyethylene glycol), significant improvement in drought tolerance was found in 6% of Khao Dawk Mali 105 families, but not in any of the Nam Sagui 19 families. No improvements were noted in this latter study when in vitro selection was not used. Variation in other agronomically important characters was observed in the R2 families grown under similar, but well-watered, environmental conditions.

Abstract:
Viability is a challenge that all the organizations face these days. As a result of this they need to introduce changes at various levels, through a change process. The halfhearted decisions regarding change result in confusion at all the levels. Services of experts as external consultants are hired for such an organizational development need. These consultants are responsible to communicate openly and discuss the reasons and consequences of the planned actions. Changing environment should be kept in view while implementing the change. Similarly, the capacity of the team should be improved and the consultants should refrain from imposing actions. Viability is an internal need of an organization; therefore, the decision to change should be made and enforced internally. The support from field specialist, external consultant, as a facilitator should be used to remain on track and have whistle blowers around in case of problems.

Abstract:
A comparative study of production /catch in open water fish habitats was conducted both inside and outside the embankment of Meghna Dhonagoda Irrigation Project (MDIP). Very low production was observed in the khal/canal (24.32 kg /ha and 26.45 kg /ha), inundated paddy field/ floodplain (1.99 kg / ha and 2.24kg / ha) in inside the embankment in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005, where the production/Catch per unit area was higher in khal (531.56 kg /ha and 528.77kg /ha), floodplain (38.18 kg /ha and 33.84 kg /ha) in outside during the same years. Beside these, the production/catch was recorded in irrigation canal (13.90 kg /ha and 21.94 kg /ha) in inside the embankment of both the years. On the other hand, the catch was recorded in Meghna river (137.87 kg /ha and 96.27 kg /ha) and in Dhonagoda river (124 kg /ha and 85.92 kg /ha) in outside the embankment of both the years respectively. The production was little bit higher in inside open water habitats in 2004-2005, escaped fishes from the ponds were also caught in the inside open water habitats in 2004-2005 due to the over flooding of ponds caused by excess rainfall in September 2004. In both the years, the highest production of inside habitats was in khal, followed by irrigation canal and inundated paddy field/ floodplain. In case of outside habitats, the highest production was in khal, followed by Meghna river, Dhonagodariver and floodplain during both the years of study. Monthly estimated catch regarding the production of the equal sample area of the same habitats between the two zones are statistically significant (p<0.05) in both 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. Asiat. Abstract:
Abstract The foraging behavior of Gekko gecko was observed at the visitor complex of the Khao Khiao Open Zoo at the Khao Khiao-Khao Chomphu Wildlife Sanctuary in Chon Buri Province, Thailand. Foraging parameters of G. gecko (foraging period, time spent moving, foraging attempts, foraging success, prey size consumed, and foraging distance) did not vary significantly between males, females, and juveniles. Individuals foraged between 18:01 and 09:00 hrs. Peak emergence time was between 18:01 and 20:00 hrs. Peak retreat time was between 04:01 and 07:00 hrs. Major food items included insects of the orders Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, and Coleoptera. Prey sizes of males, females, and juveniles were not significantly different, indicating no prey size selection. This may have been due to low insect availability in the habitat. Gekko gecko tended to be a sit-and-wait forager spending most of the time waiting for active prey. However, it sometimes foraged more actively when insect abundance was relatively high. Foraging behavior of males tended to be more variable than females and juveniles. In addition, variation in foraging parameters among individuals was noted. Foraging strategies of G. gecko observed in this study are interpreted in the context of optimal foraging theory.

Abstract:
Kudi Khao or Bang Luang Community is one of the oldest Thai-Muslim communities in Bangkok. Its history can be traced back to the time of the late Ayudhaya Dynasty. Some Thai Muslims migrated to the south of the Chao Phraya River. After the subsequent capital, Thonburi, was established, some had settled along the river near the capital where their descendants have resided until the present time. This Thai-Muslim community is located among diverse neighboring communities which today boast the motto of “One sub-district2, three religions.” Kudi Khao’s unique blend of cultural identity illustrates an integration of cultural pluralism in the diverse ethnic environment of Thailand as seen through the physical features of the religious center, Kudi Khao, an Islamic mosque built in Thai architectural style and the people’s way of life intertwining Thai influence.

Abstract:
The study was conducted to determine effect of pelleting agents on physical and chemical characteristics as well as microbiological and mycotoxicological safety of pelleted feed mixtures for laying hens. Four feed mixtures were analyzed: Control (K) - without supplemented pelleting agent, and three experimental ones (A, B and C) with supplemented pelleting agent. Lignocellulose concentrate-based agent was added in feed mixture A -?Arbocel? (2%), and bentonite-based agent in feed mixture B ?Bentopel? (2%), while both agents were added in feed mixture C in the concentration of 1%. The pellets of highest hardness (6 Khal J/kg ) were found in feed mixture B. The pellets of rather good hardness (5.5 Khal J/kg ) were found in feed mixture A, while the pellets in feed mixture C (3.5 Khal J/kg) were of the lowest hardness. Total number of bacteria was the highest in diet K amounting to 39000/g sample, and significantly lower in the experimental feeds mixtures ranging from 2,100 (C) to 5,000 (B). Pathogenic bacteria were not detected in the analyzed feeds mixtures. The highest number of yeast species (8) was found in feed mixture K, and in experimental feeds mixtures this number was significantly lower. In feed mixture A one yeast species was found, in feed mixture B three and in feed mixture C 6, respectively. The predominant were the representatives of the Aspergillus species, a typical mycobiota developed in the animal feed warehouses. Presence of mycotoxins (aflatoxin B1, ochratoxin A, zearalenone, deoxynivalenol, diacetoxyscirpenol and T-2 toxin) was not detected in analyzed feeds mixture.

Abstract:
Abstract A systematic investigation has been conducted in several selected geosites in Songkhla Province (Southern Thailand) including inventory, characterization, classification, assessment, and evaluation to study their potentials for geoheritage, geotourism, and geoconservation. A list of geosites have been established for this study, consisting of Songkhla Lagoon/Lake, Samila Beach, Tone Nga Chang (Elephant’s Tusk) Waterfall, Khao Rup Chang (Dragon and Elephant) Cave, and Khao Daeng Hot Spring. Characterization of all these sites have showed that most of the sites have unique and interesting landforms (geomorphological sites), except only a hot spring site (hydrogeological site). The geosites have features of small to large scales (tens meter to larger than 10 km). Qualitative and quantitative assessments have been carried out based on geoheritage values (scientific & educational, aesthetic, recreational, cultural, etc.), with the state/provincial to national levels of significance. Geoconservation efforts should be conducted in all these sites for some purposes, such as research and education as well as geotourism in the province and the region.

Abstract:
The Khao I Dang Holding Center for Kampucheans opened November 21, 1979 as part of an effort to bring relief to the thousands of Cambodian on the eastern frontier of Thailand. The camp population increased from 4800 that first day to 50,000 by December 1, 1979 and 110,000 by mid-January, 1980. Sixty-one percent (61%) of the population were 15 years of age and older; 12% of these over 44. Thirty-nine percent (39%) were children under 15.Although each disaster is unique, the medical problems for a type of disaster in a stated area are considered predictable. This was not the case at Khao I Dang for hospital pysicians in providing patient care. It has been shown that relief efforts are amenable to study, yet such studies have been handicapped by a lack of data. Since major disasters involving international aid are reported several times a year, the problem is considerable.

Abstract:
In this paper, the analytical description of the specific conductivity of the potassium halogenides melts KHal (Hal – F, Cl, Br, I) is presented. The analitical description is provided on dependence of the specific conductivity on the halogen order number ӕ = f(Z), the ionic radius of halogen-ion ӕ = f(r), the ionic potential ӕ = f(1/r), the electronegativity difference ӕ = f(∆χ) ((∆χ = χ (Hal) – χ(K)). The interrelation of a reduced property with an order number ӕ/Z = f(Z) is considered. According to the obtained analytical dependencies, the calculation of the value of the potassium astatide specific conductivity is given for temperatures above the melting point on 5, 10, 50, 75, 100, 150 и 200°, in literature Information for KAt absent. The calculation was carried out using comparative methods for calculating M.Kh. Karapetyan in the coordinates of "property-parameter" and "property-property." Least squares method was applied for processing the analytical description results with the choice of optimal dependencies on the maximum correlation coefficient and the minimum standard deviation. The analysis of the interrelation of the calculated numerical values with similar characteristics for NaAt и LiAt is presented. Comparison of the specific conductivity obtained numerical values of the astatide potassium melt showed good consistency with the values ӕ obtained from the straight line dependence ӕТпл+n = a∙ ӕТпл+5 (n = 10°…200°) and also with similar characteristics for lithium astatide and sodium astatide. The analytical calculation results allow to describe the temperature dependence of the potassium halogenides specific conductivity, including KAt. The calculation method can be used to describe the melts specific conductivity in the same type series of compounds of alkaline and alkaline-earth elements that make up electrolytes for chemical current sources.
