Image segmentation is an important step in image processing, with many applications such as pattern recognition, object detection, and medical image analysis. It is a technique that separates objects of interests from the background in an image. Geometric active contour is a recent image segmentation method that overcomes previous problems with snakes. It is an attractive method for medical image segmentation as it is able to capture the object of interest in one continuous curve. The theory and implementation details of geometric active contours are discussed in this work. T

Active contours have been proven to be a powerful semiautomatic image segmentation approach, that seems to cope with many applications and different image modalities. However, they exhibit inherent drawbacks, including the sensibility to contour initialization due to the limited capture range of image edges and problems with concave boundary regions. The Gradient Vector Flow replaces the traditional image force and provides an enlarged capture range as well as enhanced concavity extraction capabilities, but it involves an expensive computational effort and considerably increased memory require

It is an important issue in the cardiovascular diseasediagnosis by identifying the ventricle shape & boundary preciselyfrom the echocardiogram. Recently, some researchers also developed systems to provide quantitative analysis on echocardiograms. The destination of this research is to detect the accurate left ventricle and to decrease the interference of noises. In the method of this research, utilizing multiple echocardiograms to find the contour of left ventricle. 碩士
國立中正大學
資訊工程研究所
89
In this paper, we apply the 3D active contour model to a 3D ultrasonic data file for segmenting of the breast tumor. The 3D ultrasonic file is composed of a series of 2D images. The traditional techniques of 2D image segmentation will not use the information between adjacent images. In order to suit with the property of the 3D data, we introduce the concept of the 3D stick, the 3D morphological process, and the 3D active contour model. The 3D stick can get over the problem that the ultrasound image is full of speckle noise, and highlight the edge information in

The accurate detection of static object boundaries such as contours or surfaces and dynamic tunnels of moving objects via deformable models is an ongoing research topic in computer vision. Most deformable models attempt to converge towards a desired solution by minimizing the sum of internal (prior) and external (measurement) energy terms. Such an approach is elegant, but frequently mis-converges in the presence of noise or complex boundaries and typically requires careful semi-dependent parameter tuning and initialization. Furthermore, current deformable model based approaches are computati
