Abstract:

This paper delves into the sociolinguistic factors and semantic implications of Kilba names and naming systems. It explores how names are given in Kilba community, explaining the cultural and social meanings attached to names .The research method involves primary data collection from aged parents in the Hong local government of Adamawa State, as well as secondary sources such as books, journal articles, and online materials. Contextual and conventional theories of meaning were used as guide for the study. The analysis categorizes Kilba names names into five main groups based on their significance and origins. The findings highlight the importance of names as identifiers of individual personalities and reflect the unique circumstances or situations surrounding a child’s birth. This study concludes that the significance of names to Kilba people is beyond mere labels, but a reflection of socio-cultural values, beliefs, and experiences.

Abstract:

Religious extremism and fanatism are major contributions to violent activities and crisis in Nigeria. Borno State is one of most affected States due to the activities of Boko Haram insurgency. This paper is put together as a result of a three (3) days peace seminar conducted at the College of Education Waka – Biu Borno State on 29th to 31st January, 2020. College of Education Waka-Biu is one of eight (8) tertiary institutions in Borno State. It is located Biu, Southern senatorial District of Borno State. Biu is about one hundred and seventy two (172) kilometers from Maiduguri the Borno State capital. The major road that links Biu to Maiduguri is closed due to the activities of Boko Haram because the road passes through the “Sambisa” forest. The College of Education Waka-Biu was established in 1986. The college is a transformation of the then “Teachers College Waka-Biu” which was established by the Church of the Brethren Mission in 1957. The College of Education has a student population of about twelve thousand (12,000) with half Christians and half Muslims. The College has been peaceful without any record of religious intolerance. The tribes of the students and staff members are dominant Pabir, Bura, Margi, Kibaku, Gwoza, Kanakuru, Tera, Fulani, Hona, Kilba, Yungur, Michika, Lounguda Ga’anda etc.

Abstract:

The Həba (Kilba) people live in northern Adamawa State of Nigeria. Həba is the people, while nya Həba is the language. The people have many rich verbal arts which include folktales, songs, proverbs and riddles. This study aims to examine the performance, structure and functions of riddle game as one of the genres of oral literature. The data for the study was obtained through recording of riddles performed in natural settings. Also, the people older than the researchers were interviewed in order to gather information the functions of riddle game in Hǝba community. Descriptive survey was employed for the study in order to interpret, describe, explain and discuss the data in its natural state. Qualitative method was therefore adopted for the analysis of the riddles in the corpus of the study. The result showed that the Həba folk riddles have some peculiar organizational and syntactic structures. The organizational structures include invitation to play riddle game, challenging, unraveling, penalising, and turn-taking. The analysis of the syntactic structure of the riddles revealed that the riddle acts are highly standard expressions that permit little or no variations. The art of riddling constitute part of the ancient educational and recreational systems of the Həba people. As a community art, riddle telling enhances cognitive development, promotes social cohesion and unity among the children. This paper therefore aims to examine peculiarity of the performance, the structure, and the functions of riddle as verbal art in Hәba community.

Abstract:

is study aims to determine the nutritional status of elementary school-aged children in coastal and mountainous areas in Kian Darat District, East Seram Regency. Samples in coastal villages are Kilga, Kian, Rumfakar, and Kilaba villages, while mountain villages are Rumoga and Rumbou villages. In each village, 5 children were selected as respondents. The respondent's characteristic data were analyzed descriptively. Determination of nutritional status based on BMI/U anthropometry and determination of nutritional status based on Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2020, namely the Child Anthropometry Standard. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the distribution of nutritional status of elementary school-aged children in coastal areas is as follows: Normal nutritional status is 50%, very thin 10%, lean 30%, and obese 10% while in mountainous areas are: Normal nutritional status as much as 80%, 10% thin and 10% very thin.

Abstract:

Delta Dunaju obecnie znajduje się na terytorium Ukrainy i Rumunii. W 2002 r. na Ukrainie powstał projekt głębokowodnej drogi żeglownej Dunaj–Morze Czarne, która miała prowadzić wspólnym ramieniem Kilia, a następnie jedną z jego odnóg, Kanałem Bystre. Projekt składał się z dwóch faz, a każda z nich podlegała odrębnej procedurze administracyjnej. Ukraina poinformowała Rumunię o projekcie w 2002 r., a opinię o jej wpływie na środowisko dostarczyła w 2004 r. Procedura ta naruszała zapisy Konwencji z Espoo, którą podpisały oba państwa. Rumunia wszczęła przeciw Ukrainie procedurę dochodzeniową. Jej skarga została uznana za zasadną, a Spotkanie Stron podjęło wobec Ukrainy kilka decyzji. Pierwsza z nich nakazywała Ukrainie dostosować projekt do zapisów Konwencji, a do chwili uzyskania zgodności, przerwać prace. Ukraina wykorzystała dwufazowy charakter projektu i wstrzymała rozpoczęcie drugiej fazy, prowadząc jednocześnie prace w ramach pierwszej fazy. Kolejne Spotkania Stron Konwencji z Espoo odnotowywały połowiczność i opieszałość działań Ukrainy. W rezultacie prowadzone przez nią prace nadal są monitorowane.

Abstract:

<p>However Kilka is a valuable fish in nutritional point of view, but a large part of it used in poultry feed. The main<br />reason is the undesirable odor. In this study Kilka oil was blended with milk at 1% and 2% level and then the<br />mixture spray dried. These encapsulated Kilka oil were added to cheese as a fortificant materials at 5% level.<br />Cheese without encapsulated Kilka oil was as a control treatment. Results showed that there was no significant<br />difference (p&gt;0.05) between color of fortificated cheese with control cheese. There was no significant difference<br />(p&gt;0.05) between odor of cheese with 5% encapsulated Kilka oil that contain 1% Kilka oil (A) with control<br />cheese. There was no significant difference (p&gt;0.05) between flavor of cheese with 5% encapsulated Kilka oil<br />that contain 1% Kilka oil (A) with cheese with 5% encapsulated Kilka oil that contain 2% Kilka oil (B) but there<br />was significant difference (p&lt;0.05) between these two treatments with control cheese. Also, the eicosapentaenoic<br />acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) content of fortified cheeses had significant difference (p&lt;0.05)<br />with control cheese.</p>

Abstract:

Artykuł jest próbą zmierzenia się z pojęciem „animacji filmowej” na gruncie kina nieanimowanego. Powołując się na koncepcje teoretyka animacji Alana Holodenki, autor stara się określić relację pomiędzy czynnikiem ruchowym (animacyjnym) a obrazowym (kadr, fotografia) dzieła filmowego. Analiza wybranych utworów przedkinematograficznych (w tym przypadku chronofotografii będących efektem eksperymentów prowadzonych u schyłku XIX wieku przez Etienne-Jules Marey’a) posłużyła do wyodrębnienia charakterystycznych dla animacji wyznaczników. Celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytania: czym może być animacja w filmie nieanimowanym? czy uprawnione jest mówienie o animacji w filmie nieanimowanym? Jeżeli tak, to jaki jest jej status, a także w jaki sposób się objawia? Próba odpowiedzi na powyższe pytania mieści się w stwierdzeniu stanowiącym niejako tezę całego artykułu: animacja nie jest jedynie gatunkiem filmowym, nie jest więc filmową podkategorią; to raczej film w animacji partycypuje, czerpiąc z niej element dla siebie istotny: elementem tym jest ruch.

Abstract:

Kandidaatintyöni tavoitteena on dokumentoida kallistuksenvakaajien suunnitteluprosessi Formula Student -kilpa-autoon ja määrittää auton keskeisiä kallistuskäyttäytymiseen liittyviä suureita. Työn aikana määritetään muun muassa vanhan ja uuden auton kallistusjäykkyys ja kallistuksenvakaajan osuus tästä. Teorialähteinä on käytetty pääasiassa alan kirjallisuutta, ja mekaanisten ominaisuuksien selvittäminen pohjautuu lujuusopin peruskaavoihin. Suunnittelu toteutettiin CAD-mallinnuksen (Computer-aided Design) avulla ja vertailemalla suunnitteilla olevaa ja edellistä kallistuksenvakaajaa keskenään. Syntynyt kallistuksenvakaaja on edelliseen verrattuna hieman kevyempi ja käytännöllisempi. Työn aikana selviää myös, miten kallistuksenvakaajan dimensiot vaikuttavat sen ominaisuuksiin ja kestävyyteen. Tulokset rajoittuvat melko suuresti autoteollisuuteen, mutta esimerkiksi vääntöjäykkyyden ja vääntävän vivun pituuden suhdetta voidaan hyödyntää laajasti<br>The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to document the procedure of designing new anti-roll bars to a Formula Student race car and to determine some of the fundamental roll-related properties of the vehicle. These properties include among others the roll stiffness of the vehicle and the contribution of the anti-roll bar to the overall roll stiffness. A major portion of the applied theory has been gathered from subject-related literature, and the mechanical properties of the anti-roll bar originate from the fundamental formulas of engineering mechanics. The design revolved mostly around CAD and comparing the properties of the new anti-roll bar to those of the old one. The resulting anti-roll bar is in many ways like the previous version, only a bit lighter and more practical. During the writing phase the relationships between the physical dimensions of the anti-roll bar and its stiffness and durability became evident. The results of this thesis are mostly limited to the automotive industry, but for instance the relationship between the length of the lever arm and the stiffness of a torsion bar can be widely utilized

Abstract:

Esta pesquisa concentra-se em três canções de Kilza Setti: Cantiga (1960), A Estrela (1961) e Trova de muito amor para um amado senhor (1961). Dentro do corpus escolhido, nossos objetivos específicos são: a) analisar os poemas, levando em consideração seu contexto histórico-literário; b) analisar os aspectos sonoros e expressivos que se apresentam nos fonemas, palavras e enunciados; c) analisar algumas relações poético-musicais visando colaborar com questões interpretativas. O trabalho justifica-se pelo fato de não termos encontrado outros que abordem a estilística, ou mesmo a fonoestilística como subsídio para desenvolver análises ou mesmo auxiliar questões interpretativas em obras vocais. Como metodologia, optamos pela análise dos poemas, com foco na fonoestilística, observando alguns recursos sonoros e expressivos. As sugestões interpretativas foram potencializadas a partir da interação entre a fonoestilística e a música. Este resultado foi obtido porque ambas (fonoestilística e música) exploram a relação entre o som e o sentido, podendo desta forma contribuir para a elaboração de sugestões interpretativas.<br>This research focuses on the score of three songs, Cantiga (1960), A Estrela (1961) and Trova de muito amor para um amado senhor (1961), by Kilza Setti. Within the selected corpus, our specific objectives are: a) to analyze the poems, taking into account their historical and literary context; b) analyze the sound and expressive aspects into phonemes, words and statements; c) analyze some poetic musical relations, aiming to collaborate with interpretive questions. The work is justified by the fact that we not have found others who address the Stylistics or even phonostylistics, as a subsidy to develop, analyze or assist interpretative issues in vocal works. As methodology, we chose the analysis of the poems, focusing on phonostylistics, observing some sound and expressive resources. The interpretative suggestions were developed from the interaction between phonostylistics and music. This result was obtained because both (phonostylistics and music) explore the relationship between sound and meaning and can thus contribute to the development of interpretative suggestions.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the early development of parasitism in a wild population of Soay sheep on the Scottish island group of St. Kilda. The research used statistical analysis and modelling of a detailed data set collected over a year of field based study. The outcome is a comprehensive description of the epidemiology of nematode parasitism in young animals from a wild ungulate population. An immuno-epidemiological model is used to explore the dynamics of acquired protective immunity against parasites in early infection. The model predicts early male/female differences in immunocompetence. The model also allows estimation of the relationship between weight, age, and infection rate for males and females. It shows that as lambs get older, net infection increases in males, as immunity becomes more important in females. The predictions of the model suggest that differences in immunity between hosts drive the patterns of aggregation observed in the system. Significant intermediate-scale spatial heterogeneity in early parasitism on St. Kilda is demonstrated. Lambs from three hefts, which frequent three distinct parts of the study area, are shown to have significantly different mean faecal egg counts (p<0.001). An attempt is made to tease out the causes of the observed heterogeneities, but further empirical research is required before firm conclusions may be drawn. It is established that such intermediate -scale spatial heterogeneity is not the cause of the high levels of parasite aggregation observed in the system. The implications of parasitism for over-winter survival in lambs are explored.

Abstract:

É objetivo analisar a Missa Caiçara e reconhecer os processos composicionais utilizados por Kilza Setti em sua elaboração, demonstrando como procedimentos musicais tradicionais europeus foram mesclado com procedimentos musicais caiçara, criando material de referência sobre características composicionais da compositora. Por meio do trabalho do Prof. Dr. Marco Antonio da Silva Ramos em seu Referencial de Análise de Obras Corais, foram observados diferentes aspectos musicais, relativos à duração, frequência, timbre, forma e intensidade, assim como foi realizada uma análise referente aos usos do silêncio dentro da obra. A tese de doutorado em antropologia social da compositora, sobre a música Caiçara do litoral norte de São Paulo, serviu de guia para o reconhecimento dos procedimentos musicais contidos naquela música. Entrevistas com a própria compositora forneceram subsídios sobre suas posições estéticas, ainda não publicadas. Como resultado deste trabalho é oferecido ao final da pesquisa uma nova edição revisada para performance da partitura da Missa Caiçara, possibilitando melhor divulgação da obra.<br>The purpose is to analyze the Caiçaras mass and to recognize the compositional processes used by Kilza Setti in this composition, by demonstrating how traditional European musical procedures were blended with caiçaras musical procedures, creating reference material on the composer\'s compositional characteristics. Through the benchmark analysis of choral works composed by Professor. Dr. Marco Antonio da Silva Ramos, different musical aspects were observed, as those related to duration, frequency, timbre, form and intensity, as well as an analysis was done regarding the uses of silence within the mass. The doctoral thesis in social anthropology written by Kilza Setti about caiçaras musical procedures from the northern coast of São Paulo, guided the recognition of these musical procedures. Interviews with the composer herself gave subsidy on her aesthetic positions, not published yet. As a result of this work, by the end of the research, a new revised edition for performance of the score of the Caiçaras mass is offered, allowing the dissemination of the work.

Abstract:

The Kilia stone citadel (in fact, New-Kilia, today Kilia, Ukraine), located on the left bank of the northern branch of the Danube, was the oldest and most protected part of the medieval defensive ensemble. Most likely, it was built by the Genoeses that had their own colony, ruled by consuls in the second half of the XIV century. In order to supplement the data on the Kilia citadel (which does not exist today), the author uses the Ottoman and Russian topographic, iconographic and graphic sources of the late XVIII century. The citadel was a quadrangular fort, separated from the rest of the fortified complex by two ditches filled with water. The corners of the stone square were reinforced with four parallelepiped towers: the Commandant’s Tower (Dizdar Kulesi), the Agha Tower (Ağa Kulesi), the Ammunition Tower (Tophane Kulesi) and the Arsenal Tower (Cephane Kulesi). The Kilia citadel perfectly illustrates a mixed (combined) or transitional model with one or two peripheral donjons, with equal defense capabilities from all sides. It is based on a regular Italian quadrangular castle with four corner towers in the form of a parallelepiped.

Th e stone fortress of Kilia was erected on the banks of the Danube in the summer of 1479 on the initiative led by Stephen the Great. An inner wall separated it, following the example of the Cetatea Alba, into two distinct parts: the Outer Fortress, which corresponded to the “civil court”, and the Middle Fortress, to which conformed to the “middle court” corresponded. It was joined by the third courtyard, the “garrison courtyard”, which surrounded the old stone citadel. Th e inner citadel corresponded to the “middle court” and the “garrison court”. Th e fourth court, the “court of the citadel” or “court of the military commander”, was bounded by the citadel walls. Among the fl anking towers were the Arsenal Tower, the Weapons Tower, the Commander’s Tower, the Lighthouse Tower, the Bloody Tower, the Prison Tower, the Maiden’s Tower, the Arab Tower, the Wool Tower, the Millet Tower, the Flat Tower, the Cracked Tower, the Biscuit Tower, the Mountain Tower, etc. During the rule of Stephen the Great, ordinary towers appeared, with an inner hollow, “full” towers and “artillery towers”. Th e roads connected the Great Gate of the citadel with three Gates from the water, the Small Gate, the Guild Gate and the Greek Gate. Th e defensive complex of Kilia was conquered by Ottoman troops in July of 1484.

Abstract:

In the period June 22 – July 16, 1479, Stephen the Great built or rebuilt the stone fortress of Kilia. The Levantine or Greek-Genoese architect Ioan Privana, who built the Moldavian church of St. Nicholas here, could be involved in the construction works. After 1484 the stone fortress of Kilia was repaired and modernized by the Ottomans. At that time, each major province of the Ottoman Empire had its own chief architect of the Royal Corps of Architects, who dealt with military projects. It was a time when Ottoman specialists created engineering works that even met the standards of the following centuries. In the 18th century, the architect from the city of Hassa Halife Abdullah, the bina emini El Hac Hasan, the kapıcıbaşı Hasan Aga, the nazir’s deputy Salih Efendi, the Ottoman Empire architect chief Mehmed Tahir Aga, El Hac Ahmed, El Hac Emin and others were in charge of the fortress of Kilia in the Moldavian Principality. The stone fortress of Kilia functioned until 1795, when it was demolished and replaced by a bastion fortress of the Vauban type, built by the French engineer François Kauffer at the behest of Sultan Selim III.

Abstract:

The Portuguese Fort of Kilwa, 300 km south of Dar-es-Salam, is part of the archaeological landscape of Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara (Tanzania), classified as World Heritage in 1981. Together with the Fort they stand out the ruins of the Great Mosque (11th/13th c.) and the Husuni Kubwa Palace (14th c.). Since the 10th century there were flourishing cities at , through which passed much of the trade in the Indian Ocean. As the control came to the Portuguese hands in the 16th century, the region went into decline. Built in 17 days (23 July – 9 August 1505) during the inauguration voyage of Francisco de Almeida, the designated 1st Viceroy of India, the Fort was enshrined in royal rules for the ordering of the colonial direction of the Expansion. Therefore, it can be considered as the first construction of stone (coral) and lime made by Europeans in the eastern side of the world, 500 years ago. The Portuguese occupation only last for 7 years, but its use remain until the mid-nineteenth century, during the operational city. Despite the evolutionary adaptations that lend some contours of Swahili culture to the Fort, its original compositional principles are clearly identified. It is a practical and expeditious example of military architecture, in transition to pyroballistic architecture, designed with a square shape and two round bastions at opposite angles. This model possibly corresponds to the one idealized by Leonardo da Vinci, serving the requirements of the first phase of the Expansion (although it was also adapted in the remodeling of the medieval castles on the border with Spain). The period in which it occurs is called Manueline (King Manuel, 1495-1521), important examples remaining in Africa (Morocco with El Jadida and Aguz, or Ghana with Mina) and in India (Cranganor, Chale), some abandoned or destroyed, and others replaced by more advanced equipment. Kilwa's Fort (located on the seashore served by ships, like all Expansion forts) had internally 2 floors with flat cover in the bastions for artillery.

W swym syntetycznym tekście ukazuję korelacje, które same narzucają się po przeanalizowaniu metody komunikacyjnej i metod oraz technik psychoterapeutycznych stosowanych w psychoterapii skoncentrowanej na możliwości. Warto dodać, iż na gruncie praktyki możemy wykorzystywać to, co jest dostępne w innych dyscyplinach naukowych, jeśli tylko może to pomóc innemu w bytowaniu-w-świecie.

Abstract:

Głównym celem artykułu jest przypomnienie postaci zasłużonej działaczki, artystki, feministki i patriotki, Marii Dulębianki (1862-1919), od śmierci której minęło sto jeden lat. Jednak to nie rocznica, a działania, jakich podejmowała się Dulębianka, posłużyły za główną motywację do przygotowania niniejszego artykułu. Pomimo nieprzychylnych postaw prezentowanych przez mężczyzn względem kobiet, które objawiały się m.in. w braku dostępu do edukacji na akademiach sztuk pięknych, co dotknęło artystkę personalnie, M. Dulębianka „zrzuciła patriarchalne okowy” i postanowiła walczyć nie tylko o kobiety, ale i całą narodową sprawę. Początkowo batalia ta miała charakter bardziej spontaniczny, bez konkretnego, opracowanego planu, bez organizacji, jednak to właśnie te żywiołowe działania, jak choćby zamieszczane w prasie artykuły autorstwa Dulębianki, czy uczestnictwo, a także organizacja licznych wieców, uczyniły pewnego rodzaju wyłom. Aktywność bohaterki na polu społeczno-politycznym, ale również kulturalno-oświatowym, doskonale wpisuje się w istniejący model kobiecych wyobrażeń i perspektyw na drodze ku równouprawnieniu. Próba spojrzenia na postać zasłużonej Polki przez pryzmat jej życia, zarówno publicznego, jak i prywatnego, pozwala na ukazanie pełnego wachlarza indywidualnych postaw, które cechowały Dulębiankę w celach, jakie sobie postawiła. Nawoływania nie tylko skierowane do kobiet, ale także, a może przede wszystkim, do mężczyzn o prawach płci pięknej do wykształcenia, jak i samostanowienia niejednokrotnie splatały się z hasłami równouprawnienia wszystkich warstw społecznych, w czym widziała jedyną drogę do odzyskania niepodległości.

Artykuł dotyczy udziału Amerykanek w wysiłku wojennym Stanów Zjednoczonych podczas I wojny światowej w świetle poczytnego magazynu „The Ladies’ Home Journal”. Od kwietnia 1917 r., w związku z wypowiedzeniem wojny Niemcom, ruch amerykańskich sufrażystek stanął przed nowymi wyzwaniami i zadaniami. Na fali powszechnego patriotycznego zrywu niektóre działaczki kobiece, m.in. z National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) uznały, że w zaistniałej sytuacji należy poprzeć politykę rządu. W ramach National Council of Defense powołano oddzielną sekcję – Woman’s Committe (Komitet Kobiecy), którą kierowała Anna Howard Shaw, znana lekarka i zasłużona sufrażystka, honorowa przewodnicząca NAWSA. W kolejnych miesiącach wojny Komitet Kobiecy korzystał z „gościnności” redakcji „The Ladies’ Home Journal” propagując na jego łamach zaangażowanie Amerykanek i ich wsparcie wysiłku wojennego Stanów Zjednoczonych. W artykułach i felietonach zachęcano do różnych form obywatelskiej i patriotycznej aktywności, m.in. poprzez akcję oszczędzania żywności (hooverize), prace charytatywne, zakładanie ogródków wojennych, pomoc farmerom w sezonie letnim, etc. Liczne apele kierowano do dziewcząt i kobiet, zachęcając do pracy w Amerykańskim Czerwonym Krzyżu oraz Youth Women Christian Association (YWCA), a także w Salvation Army. Czas wojny stworzył dla Amerykanek okazję nie tylko na zademonstrowanie zaangażowanego patriotyzmu, ale i szanse na wkraczanie wielu z nich w obszary aktywności i do zawodów zdominowanych przez mężczyzn.
