Abstract:
Chapter 1 explores key songs to establish the formative issues and political ideologies of North Korea, from the beginnings of the creation of official history, through the notion of “popular,” to the 1960s, by which time cultural production was being brought into line with the juche ideology of “self-reliance” and the Ch’ŏllima unitary system of work under the cult of the paramount leader, Kim Il Sung. It looks at Soviet and Chinese influence on song production, and at the legacy of Japanese colonialism, as well as the factionalism that was rife among artists in Pyongyang. The chapter explores how a national identity was established in which folk songs were the foundation, though folk songs were remodeled, removing local particularity but accommodating the lyrical style of professional renditions to create a characteristic vocal style known as the juche voice, and censoring or adjusting lyrics to comply with ideology. Key song composers are introduced, distinguishing “songs of the people” from “songs for the people,” and discussing “revolutionary songs” and “immortal songs.”

This chapter introduces an extended scena by Earl Kim—Letters Found Near a Suicide. Kim sets three poems in a continuous span, so the work can be counted as a song cycle. The chapter reveals Kim's intimate understanding and love of the human voice, which is amply demonstrated by the comfortable lie of vocal lines which cover an extremely wide range of dramatic colours. Words are always audible, and emotions conveyed with concise poignancy. Key moments in the text are often set in a fairly low tessitura so that the singer is able to vary the vocal palette and enunciate the texts without strain. The piano part is full of fine detail, and there are plenty of pitch cues to help the singer. The textures are expertly balanced and well integrated in style.

Halkla ilişkiler, kurum ve hedef kitle arasındaki iletişimin sağlıklı bir şekilde yönetilmesini sağlamaktadır. Grunig ve Hunt, kurum ve hedef kitle arasındaki iletişimi, basın ajansı, kamuoyunu bilgilendirme, iki yönlü asimetrik ve iki yönlü simetrik iletişim modelleri üzerinden dört boyutta ele almıştır (Grunig ve Hunt, 1984: 13).
