Abstract:
We present a 18S rDNA based molecular phylogeny of two species of the genus Microcosmus (M. sulcatus and M. claudicans) sampled in the Mediterranean, to investigate their phylogenetic position relative to species of the order Stolidobranchiata. The analysis is based on partial sequences (739 bp) of the 18S rDNA. Among the 18 variable sites found between the two species, 4 correspond to transitions (ts), 14 to transversions (tv) and 4 to deletions/insertions. In the considered Stolidobranchiata, we found 4.3% overall mean number of nucleotide differences and 0.06 (S.E. ±0.01) Kimura 2-parameter

Abstract:
Isonychia taishunensis Huang, Shen, Zhang & Cheng sp. nov. is described based on larval samples from Taishun County, Zhejiang Province, China. The new species is distinguished from other species of Isonychia Eaton by the following characters: gill plates with spines apically, the color of abdominal tergum X, color pattern of abdominal terga I–IX, and color pattern of each gill plate. The genetic distance between the new species and other species of Isonychia is over 10% using the Kimura 2-parameter model. The phylogenetic relationship of I. taishunensis is close to the clade of I. japonica

Genetic relationships were studied among eight species of three taxa in the genus Chaenomeles by nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) analysis. A genetic distance matrix based on ITS sequences was estimated according to the formula of Kimura-2 parameter and a neighbour-joining phenogram, which were obtained with Clustalx4.1 software. The results showed that the germplasms of Mugua originate from Ch. speciosa (Sweet) Nakai, not including Ch. sinensis (Thouin) Kochne and Ch. cathayensis (Hemsl.) Schneid. A new atyid species, Caridina danxiaensis sp. nov., is discovered from Danxia Mountain National Nature Reserve in Guangdong Province. Morphological investigations show obvious differences from any known Caridina species. It can be easily distinguished from its congeners based on distinct characteristics of the rostrum, stylocerite, and uropodal diaeresis. Genetic analysis of Caridina based on 16S rRNA gene sequences also supports the distinctiveness of the new species from all other morphologically similar species.
