Abstract:

This research is motived by the permanence along the drinking water distribution network of a large number of unrepaired leaks, suggesting that these cannot significandly influence the turnover achieved by REGIDESO in Kindu. Thus, our main concern is to verify the existence or not of a significant link between these leasks and its tornover. The analysis and interpretation of our results reveal that during the 7 years selected for this study, the drinking water leaks identified along the REGIDESO distribution network in Kindu did not significantly influence its turnover. Despite the insignificant impact of water leaks on turnover, the leaks must be repaired, not only in order to reduce consumption bills for subscribrers billed at a flat rate, but also to protect subscribers from illnesses waterborne, because they are the entry points for microbes of all kinds into the distribution network during low pressure hours.

Abstract:

In conducting this research on the profitability of the hotel sector in KINDU, the major concern is to answer the following question: Is it worth investing in the hotel sector in KINDU? To achieve this, we used inductive, comparative and analytical methods. This was supported by documentary techniques and semi-structured interview for data collection, on the one hand, and the technique of financial analysis for their processing, on the other hand. At the end of our analyses, the ratios obtained showed a real position of financial independence of the hotel sector at KINDU. Nevertheless, we have also observed that despite this financial independence of the sector, the economic, financial and commercial returns are positive, but low. This situation is the logical consequence, not only of the low purchasing power of the population, but also of the isolation of the city following the transport difficulties that the city isang through on all possible means of communication.

Abstract:

En menant cette étude sur la mortalité périnatale à l’Hôpital Général de Référence de Kindu, la préoccupation majeure était de répondre à la question suivante : quelles sont les causes de la mortalité périnatale à l’Hôpital Général de Référence de Kindu ? Et entre ces causes y a-t-il une influence entre elles ? Pour y parvenir nous avons recouru à la méthode d’enquête. Celle-ci a été appuyée par les techniques d’entretien structuré et documentaires pour la récolte de données et la technique de Khi2 comme technique de traitement de données. A l’issue de nos analyses, nous sommes arrivés aux résultats selon lesquels sur 1973 naissances survenues à la maternité de l’Hôpital Général de Référence de Kindu, nous avons enregistré 54 cas de décès périnataux dont 49 mort-nés et 5 décès néonatals précoces soit un taux de 27,37% de mortalité périnatale et les causes sont les fœtales ou néonatales et maternelles ou obstétricales respectivement de l’ordre de 25 et 29 durant la période sous examen, ainsi donc entre ces deux variables il s’observe que Khi2 calculé étant inférieur au Khi2 tabulaire cela prouve l’inexistence d’une liaison statistique ou significative entre les deux variables.

From the statistical processing of our data, we understand that the price of cement in Kindu objects only the law of supply and demand, and that fluctuations in the exchange rate of the congolese franc against the american dollar have no significant influence.

Abstract:

Interesting us in the treasury of the town hall of Kindu, capital of the Province of Ma,iema, our results reveal that during the five years selected for this research, the net treasury was not constant. At the end of the period (2013) cash was negative, while at the beginning its sign was positive ; this situation proves an excessive disbursement copared to the collection. Our results show that the closing balance in 2013 was positive, evaluated at 3.375.475 FC thanks to the accumulation of cash from previous periods. This amount represents the cash or amount available on sight, easily mobilized at the Kindu. The general trend in the evolution of net cash for the five years period used in the context of this research is downward, despite the exponential increase observed between 2010 and 2011.

Abstract:

Dans ce papier, nous sommes parti du constat selon lequel la pérennité de l’entreprise est fortement dépendante de la gestion optimale de ses différentes ressources à savoir: humaines, financières et matérielles; mais la gestion des ressources financières occupent une place centrale dans la gestion des autres ressources. Cette dernière s’effectue sur le long terme (investissements) ainsi que sur le court terme (trésorerie). Et pour pouvoir équilibrer la situation financière de l’entreprise , il faut gérer de manière optimale la trésorerie. Celle-ci nécessite une gestion saine, règlementée et normale afin de ne pas mettre en difficulté l’entreprise et de causer sa faillite. La gestion des créances demeure le principal pilier sur lequel s’appuie la trésorerie pour le cas de la SNEL-Kindu. Une analyse corrélative de ces deux variables a demeuré nécessaire. Après analyse et traitement des données, nous sommes aboutis aux résultats ci-dessous : Concernant les recettes de la SNEL/Kindu, celles-ci ont connu une évolution à dents de scie durant toute la période sous-examen, respectivement les recettes issues des entreprises commerciales et celles des domestiques. Par ailleurs, le taux de recouvrement est de 47%. Donc, les 53% restent encore non recouvrés. Pour ce qui est des effets de la gestion des créances sur la trésorerie de la SNEL-Kindu, il a été ressorti du traitement des données dans le logiciel Eviews que les variations annuelles de la trésorerie sont expliquées à 58% par les créances des abonnés de cette entité économique. Ensuite, il existe une relation positive et significative entre la trésorerie et les créances de la SNEL/Kindu sur ses abonnés étant donné que la probabilité associée au test de student reste inférieure au seuil de significativité de 5%. Ainsi, tout accroissement d’une unité monétaire de créance entraine une hausse de la rentabilité de 0,058 USD. Enfin, au vue de la probabilité associée au test de Fisher qui, a demeuré inférieure au seuil de rejeter à tort de 5%.

En menant cette étude sur l’identification des facteurs influençant l’achat et la consommation des produits Bralima dans la ville de Kindu, la question suivante a constitué l’épicentre de notre recherche : Quels sont les facteurs influençant l’achat et la consommation des produits Bralima dans la ville de Kindu ? Pour y parvenir nous avons recouru aux méthodes d’enquête, le questionnaire nous a servis à récolter les données. Pour analyser et traiter les données nous avons calculé le Khi-carré simple, le Khi-carré d’indépendance et le calcul de pourcentage. A l’issue de nos analyses, nous avons conclu que la qualité, le divertissement et le plaisir sont les facteurs influençant l’achat et la consommation des produits Bralima. Néanmoins, nous avons aussi constatés que la profession joue un rôle important à l’achat et à la consommation des produits Bralima.

Aux vues de résultats de dépouillement du questionnaire d’enquête, les clients de la Rawbank sont satisfait de services offerts par la Rawbankonline, car ces derniers effectuent les opérations bancaires en étant à la maison et au service au coût réduit possible , mais ils ont proposé de relier la Rawbankonline aux messageries financières (M-pesa, Airtel-many et Orange many) pour les permettre de retirer leurs argents sans aller à la banque et ils ont préféré qu’on leur ajouter d’autres menus comme demande de crédit car il y a beaucoup de documents à remplir d’où le remplissage de ces formulaires peut se passer à travers Rawbankonline.

Abstract:

In this thesis I argue that science and common sense do not recognise the same kinds in nature, and hence the reference of kind terms in scientific and ordinary language differs. Therefore, a satisfactory philosophical account of natural kinds and their names should respect these differences. I begin by describing the account of natural kinds and their names offered by Putnam and Kripke, showing that their 'causal account' of reference predicts that kind terms in science and in ordinary language should agree in their extension. I then review cases from biology, chemistry, physics and the social sciences that suggest this is not the case - that the kind terms in these sciences differ from seemingly comparable terms in ordinary language. I go on to describe a notion of incommensurability devised by Thomas Kuhn, based on translatability and translation failure. I then show that the differences between science and common sense, employed to critique the causal view, show that science and common sense are incommensurable in Kuhn's sense. I take this to show that no satisfactory account of natural kinds can offer a single set of kinds and kind terms, and a single story of their nature, for both science and common sense. I then discuss accounts of kind concepts in developmental psychology, to see how these explanations of the nature and development of lay-concepts relates to the incommensurability thesis. I then deal with issues that may arise in light of the thesis; for example, explaining how the layman, steeped in common sense, can learn scientific theory. This leaves me in a position to clear the ground for a positive account of kinds and kind terms - surveying, in the light of the foregoing discussions, what must be included in, and excluded from, a satisfactory account,

Abstract:

Traditionally, twins are revered among the Ganda and their world heaves with superstition. They are believed to be sensitive children who can be vengeful when wronged. For example, depigmentation, Vitiligo is a result of the wrath of twins. At the birth of twins a family is renamed. The father becomes Ssalongo or Ssabalongo ifhe has more than one set. The mother becomes Nnalongo or Nnabalongo if she has more than one set. The sibling after whom twins come becomes Kiggongo. Babirye is the older girl twin and Nnakato the younger girl twin. Wasswa is the older boy twin while Kato is the younger boy twin. Kizza is the first sibling , after twins. Note also that Kamu is the Ganda version of Ham, Misirayimu is Mizraim, Kanani is Canan Puti is Phut and Kusi is Cush. These are biblical names. The Ganda are pmi of the Bantu family found in the regions commonly known Central Africa, Eastern and Southern Africa. The Bantu share mutual language intelligibility. In Luganda, Bantu means humans while obuntu means humanity or humanness. Kintu is a derivative name of humanity thus, according to the Ganda, he was the first human on earth. The Ganda are found along the northern shores of L. Victoria culturally known as the Nalubaale. Historical note While this novel uses characters and incidents from Buganda Kingdom's history, it is not a true representation of the kingdom at the time. This is a work of fiction.

KIND nace como empresa, debido a un problema natural como es el crecimiento acelerado de los niños, lo que implica un recambio obligatorio en el corto plazo de ropa y accesorios que usan, dejándolos muchas veces casi nuevos, desembolsando un monto no menor del presupuesto familiar. En el plano de financiero, KIND como propuesta de negocio es atractiva basada en el sector industrial que se desarrolla y por sus propias características. En cuanto al plazo de evaluación de 7 años, los resultados que se obtienen serían: Valor Actual Neto positivo (VAN) de $137.006.706, asociado a una tasa interna de retorno (TIR) DE 60%, con (ROI) retorno sobre la inversión de un 59%, estimándose una recuperación de la inversión (PAYBACK) de 2,45 años. In dieser Dissertation beschäftige ich mich mit der Frage, welchen Anforderungen wissenschaftliche Theorien über Emotionen gerecht werden müssen, damit sie sowohl begrifflich fundiert als auch empirisch fruchtbar sind. Zu diesem Zweck biete ich zunächst eine Analyse der wichtigsten Herausforderungen, mit denen wissenschaftliche Emotionstheorien konfrontiert sind. Anschließend schlage ich einen metatheoretischen Rahmen vor, indem wissenschaftliche Konzepte von Emotionen als Begriffsexplikationen von Alltagsemotionskonzepten konstruiert werden können. Teil I diskutiert die wichtigsten Herausforderungen für Theorien der Emotionen in der Psychologie und den Neurowissenschaften. Die erste Herausforderung ist, dass eine wissenschaftliche Theorie der Emotionen alle und nur die Phänomene unter den Alltagsbegriff „Emotion“ subsumieren sollte, die durch gemeinsame begriffliche Ressourcen erfasst werden können. Die zweite Herausforderung ist, dass jede Emotionskategorie gut koordinierten Gruppen neuronaler, physiologischer und verhaltensbezogener Reaktionsmuster entsprechen sollte. Ich behaupte, dass keine der derzeitigen Theorien der Emotion in Psychologie und Neurowissenschaft dieser Anforderung entspricht. Infolgedessen ist eine neue Theorie der Emotionen erforderlich. Teil II entwickelt den metatheoretisches Bezugssystem für eine Theorie der Emotionen, die den oben genannten Herausforderungen entspricht. Erstens schlage ich eine pluralistische Darstellung der Kategorien oder „scientific kinds“ vor, die induktive Schlussfolgerungen begründen können. Jedes dieser Muster bietet einen Rahmen, um verschiedene Arten von wissenschaftlichen Konzepten zu konstruieren. Ich argumentiere, dass das funktionale Bezugssystem für wissenschaftliche Kategorien oder „scientific kinds“ am besten zur Erläuterung von Emotionskonzepten geeignet ist. Folglich schließe ich mit der Empfehlung, dass Wissenschaftler*Innen funktionalistische Theorien von Emotionen benutzen sollten.
In this dissertation, I address the question of how to construct scientific theories of emotions that are both conceptually sound and empirically fruitful. To do this, I offer an analysis of the main challenges scientific theories of emotions face, and I propose a meta-theoretical framework to construct scientific concepts of emotions as explications of folk emotion concepts. Part I discusses the main challenges theories of emotions in psychology and neuroscience encounter. The first states that a proper scientific theory of emotions must explain all and only the phenomena under the vernacular term ‘emotion’ with a common set of conceptual resources and under an overarching generic concept of emotion. The second demands that each emotion category corresponds to well-coordinated sets of neural, physiological, and behavioral patterns of responses. I argue that none of the best contemporary theories of emotions in psychology and neuroscience overcomes these challenges. As a result, a new theory of emotions is required. In Part II, I develop the meta-theoretical framework to construct a theory of emotions that overcomes the challenges above. First, I propose a pluralistic account of scientific kinds based on different patterns of projection that various disciplines may take to justify inductive inferences. These are essentialist, historical, and social patterns. Each of these patterns provides a framework to construct different types of scientific concepts. I argue that among the frameworks for scientific kinds available, the one that is best suited to explicate emotion concepts is a functional framework. Consequently, I conclude by recommending scientists pursue functionalist theories of emotions over essentialist, historical, or social theories.

Die Dissertationsschrift untersucht die Dualität von Studium und Kind als Ansatz, um dem Trend der hohen Kinderlosigkeit von Akademikerinnen, ebenso wie dem Fachkräftemangel in Deutschland entgegenzuwirken. Sie zielt darauf ab, die Strategien, die studierende Eltern verfolgen, um Studium und Kind miteinander zu vereinbaren, empirisch zu erforschen und daraus Ansätze für Handlungsempfehlungen für Akteure aus der Praxis abzuleiten, die das Potenzial haben, Studierende bei der Bewältigung ihres Alltags mit Kind zu unterstützen und damit die Attraktivität der Dualität von Studium und Kind nachhaltig zu erhöhen. Zur empirischen Untersuchung der Strategien wird mehrperspektiv vorgegangen – neben qualitativen Befragungen studierender Eltern an ausgewählten sächsischen Hochschulstandorten finden zusätzlich Experteninterviews mit Akteuren der betreffenden Hochschulen und Studentenwerke statt. Die Auswertung der empirischen Studie ergibt drei Strategietypen: (1) die Effektiven, (2) die Organisationstalente und (3) die Defensiven. Ebenso werden zwei Extremfälle ausgemacht. Detailliert werden die typen- bzw. extremfallspezifischen Vor- und Nachteile der Dualität eruiert. Während die drei Strategietypen verbindet, dass sie aus der Vereinbarkeit von Studium und Kind positive Rückschlüsse auf die Bewältigung ihres Lebensalltags ziehen, überwiegen bei den Extremfällen die Nachteile der Dualität. Abstract:

Pictorial cues, together with motion and stereoscopic depth fields, can be used for perception and constitute ‘three kinds’ of vision. Edges in images are important features and can be created in either of these attributes. Are local edge and global shape detection processes attribute-specific? Three visual phenomena, believed to be due to low-level visual processes, were used as probes to address these issues. (1) Tilt illusions (misperceived orientation of a bar caused by an inducing grating) were used to investigate possible binding of edges across attributes. Double dissociation of tilt repulsion illusions (obtained with small orientation differences between inducer and bar) and attraction illusions (obtained with large orientation differences) suggest different mechanisms for their origins. Repulsion effects are believed to be due to processes in striate cortex and attraction because of higher level processing. The double dissociation was reproduced irrespective of the attributes used to create the inducing grating and the test-bar, suggesting that the detection and binding of edges across attributes take place in striate cortex. (2) Luminance-based illusory contour perception is another phenomenon believed to be mediated by processes in early visual cortical areas. Illusory contours can be cued by other attributes as well. Detection facilitation of a near-threshold luminous line occurred when it was superimposed on illusory contours irrespective of the attributes used as inducers. The result suggests attribute-independent activation of edge detectors, responding to real as well as illusory contours. (3) The performance in detecting snake-like shapes composed of aligned oriented elements embedded in randomly oriented noise elements was similar irrespective of the attributes used to create the elements. Performance when the attributes alternated along the path was superior to that predicted with an independent channel model. These results are discussed in terms of binding across attributes by feed-forward activation of orientation selective attribute-invariant cells (conjunction cells) in early stages of processing and contextual modulation and binding across visual space mediated by lateral and/or feedback signals from higher areas (dynamic binding).

Abstract:

The model of non-Fourier heat conduction in a kind of two-phase mediums with great different heat conductivity is deduced by the idea and mathematics of dual phase lag. It is pointed out that the relaxation times to establish heat flux and temperature gradient include both kinds in this model: the relaxation time appeared under the conditions of applied high heat flux and rapid heating, the relaxation time introduced by the non-equilibrium heat exchange between the two-phase mediums. It is very important to distinguish the both kinds of relaxation times for analyzing and explaining the experimental phenomena of non-Fourier heat conduction in this kind of two-phase mediums.

Abstract:

Deployable structures, whose geometry can change to satisfy practical requirements, have attracted a lot of interests from researchers. And a lot of work has been done on the deployable tubes based on origami patterns. In this paper, three new kinds of deployable tubes based on the well-known kite-shape pattern are proposed. The first kind is generalized kite-shape tubes which are obtained by adding parts composed of parallelogram planes to basic kite-shape tubes. By joining a kite-shape tube or its generalization and a tube with a parallelogram cross section and removing the common sides, a second kind of tubes whose cross section can be a polygon with an odd number of sides is developed. Finally, by misaligning two half kite-shape tubes through a transition zone, a third kind of deployable tubes in which the boundary crease lines between neighboring layers can be on different planes are presented. All the three kinds of new deployable tubes are rigid and have one degree of freedom and are ideal for engineering design and applications.

Abstract:

A broadband or two-mode (nondegenerate) squeezed state is the natural two-mode analog of a single-mode (degenerate) squeezed state. The squeezing is a result of correlations between photons in the two modes. Two-mode squeezed states are produced by the same kind of physical process and the same kinds of physical device that produce single-mode squeezed states (e.g., a parametric amplifier), simply by moving away from degeneracy. They are to be contrasted with another kind of two-mode state, one produced by separately squeezing two single modes. The latter are produced by a different kind of physical process and different physical devices from those that produce two-mode squeezed states. States that are products of two single-mode squeezed states do not exhibit squeezing, for the photons in the two modes are not correlated. There is a formal sense, however, in which these different kinds of two-mode states are (unitarily) equivalent. This formal equivalence tells one that, to achieve the desired squeezing by separately squeezing two modes, one would have to use a frequency-converting device before and after squeezing the two modes separately. This process produces the required correlations, hence the squeezing, but it Is clearly not the natural way to obtain a broadband squeezed state.

Abstract:

The present paper brings together theoretical predictions and experimental results, comparing crushing tests results as well as carcass wet collapse tests. The theoretical models are of two kinds: (i) numerical (FE) and (ii) analytical. The first kind is a restricted 3D version of a finite element model. The second kind is based on classic assumptions of equivalent ring behavior. Discussion is made on the real yield stress value to be adopted, as well as on the pertinence of geometric hypotheses. Sensitivity analyses, regarding ovalization and helical pitch are also presented.
