Abstract:
This paper approaches a large problem — the changing image of late Anglo-Saxon kingship — from a very limited perspective. In later work I hope to study Alfred's changing image as a symbol of kingship within its broader political context. This paper is limited to studying the changing relationship between Crown and monastery, as illustrated by the portrayal of King Alfred in a pair of late-Saxon saint's lives.Historians owe most of their knowledge of King Alfred to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and Asser's Life of Alfred, both generally agreed to be products of Alfred's own court. Given the detail of these works and their status as “official histories,” it might be expected that all subsequent treatments of King Alfred depend on them. Yet the most popular episode of Alfred's life, the one still known by every English schoolchild, is the story of Alfred and the cakes, which occurs nowhere in these authoritative sources. In fact, by the end of the tenth century King Alfred emerges in literary contexts far from the West Saxon court, engaging in activities that are certainly not recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle or the Life of Alfred. What had taken place to give Alfred this life of his own outside of the official histories?

We report on two boys aged 2 and 6 years-old respectively with dysmorphic face, ptosis, down-slanting palpebral fissures, hypertelorism, epicanthic folds, low-set ears, malar hypoplasia, micrognathia, high-arched palate, clinodactyly, palmar simian line, pectus excavatum, winging of the scapulae, lumbar lordosis and mild thoracic scoliosis who present congenital hypotonia, slightly delayed motor development, diffuse joint hyperextensibility and mild proximal weakness. The muscle biopsy revealed minimal but identifiable changes represented by size fiber variability, type I fiber predominance and atrophy, perimysial fibrous infiltration and some disarray of the intermyofibrillary network. These cases correspond to the first Brazilian reports of the King-Denborough syndrome and our objective is increasing the awareness of this disorder as these patients are predisposed to developing malignant hyperthermia.

Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the issues related to the King of the Four Corners and the God-King in ancient Sumer and Akkad in the 3rd millennium BCE. The author shows that the title King of the Four Corners has always deified the ruler, but the ruler who used the title King of the Universe never claimed divinity. What conclusions can we draw? Except in two cases – the case of Erri-dupizir and the case of Utu-ḫeĝal – all kings who used the title king of the four corners were deified. Erri-dupizir was a foreigner, more a warlord or tribal chief of the Gutians than a king, but he tried to legitimate his power by using Akkadian-Sumerian formulas, among them royal titles. Utu-ḫeĝal freed Sumer from the Gutians’ yoke and re-introduced old Sumero-Akkadian ideological elements, among them the king of the four corners, because he wanted to be as powerful and strong as the Akkadian king Narām-Su’en, who was an example for Utu-ḫeĝal. We do not have any proof regarding the deification of Utu-ḫeĝal, as he ruled only 6–7 years, and we have only a few texts from the time of his reign. More interesting is the fact that none of the Sumerian or Akkadian kings who used the title king of the universe in the 3rd millennium and even in the early 2nd millennium BCE (Isin-Larsa period) were deified (at least we do not have a firm proof). How to explain this phenomenon? Firstly, I think the title king of the four corners had a slightly different meaning than king of the universe; however, both are universalistic titles. The title king of the four corners was probably seen as a wider and more important universalistic title in the sense not only of universal rule, but also of ruling the divine universe and divine spheres (heaven, sun, stars, etc.). It seems that it included some kind of divine aspect, while at least the Sumerian version of the title lugal an-ubda-limmuba means “king of the heaven’s four corners”. The title king of the four corners was related to the universe order, to the sun and the cosmos, and to cosmic divine powers, and they were connected to the universal order. We can see that sometimes the title king of the four corners was used to refer to gods in Ancient Mesopotamia – for example in the case of the god Tišpak in Ešnunna – but never king of the universe. Secondly, early dynastic rulers (e.g. Lagash or Uruk), who never used universalistic titles for themselves, addressed universalistic expressions and epithets to the main gods – e.g., Enlil, Ningirsu, etc. For example, Lugal-kiğine-dudu of Uruk claimed: “Enlil, king of all lands, for Lugal-kiğine-dudu – when the god Enlil truly summoned him, and (Enlil) combined (both) lordship and kingship for him”. Thirdly, ruling over all the lands from east to west or over the corners of the universe – these epithets may be used for gods. LUGAL KIŠ (later Akkadian šar kiššati(m)) in its early original meaning was seen only as “ruler over Kiš (or ruler over (the northern part of) Sumer)”; it was an important though more regional and geographic title. Fourthly, only much later did it acquire the meaning king of the universe but I am not sure about that meaning at all. In that case, king of the four corners had a different meaning; the title designated not only ruling over the world but it probably included some kind of divine aspect as well (Michalowski 2010). In that case the title šar kibrāt arbaˀi(m) – king of the four corners could be seen as more universal than LUGAL KIŠ (šar kiššati(m)). There still remain several questions which need to be solved: * Was LUGAL KIŠ in its Akkadian form šar kiššati(m) a universalistic title at all? * Or was LUGAL KIŠ a hegemonic title showing certain hegemonic rule or lordship over (all) Sumer (and Akkad?) but not including the whole world (here: Mesopotamia)? * Could it be for this reason that the king who used the title king of the four corners had to be deified but the king who was LUGAL KIŠ had not?

Abstract:
Justice is one of the Assyrian Kings’ titles during the Sargon II Dynasty, 721–612 BCE. They used to say that they loved justice. Despite the existence of courts and judges, high-ranking officials and astrologers prefer to complain to the King directly using their association with the King to state their problem, sometimes between lines or at the end of the report. Most of the cases are concerned with either estate or other affairs. This paper focused on those cases; unfortunately in most cases we do not know the King’s orders except in some cases when the officials were not satisfied with the judge’s verdict, therefore they complain again and mention the King’s order as an indirect speech in the same letter.

Abstract:
AbstractOne of the most widely studied subjects in scholarship on the book of Chronicles is the question of the Eternal Reign of the Davidic dynasty. Most scholars have adopted the same methodic approach: analyzing sources in the book connected to the promise of the Davidic dynasty. This article addresses this issue from a novel angle–through a discussion of the three most wicked kings described in the book of Chronicles, Jehoram, Ahaziah, and Ahaz. It seems that the question whether the rule of a certain king, and the succession of his son after him, can be justified, arises only in cases where the king has no merits whatsoever. The comparison between these three kings uncovers numerous connections between them, especially the motif of the death of their children.

Abstract:
In June 2018 the Supreme Court of the United States decided the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop, in which baker Jack Phillips refused to provide a cake for a same-sex wedding. The Court decided the case on fairly narrow grounds; in particular, it set aside the question of whether Phillips illegally discriminated on the basis of sexual orientation by refusing to sell the same cake to a gay couple that he would sell to a heterosexual couple. Concurring opinions by Justices Kagan and Gorsuch do address that question, however, and in this paper I explore the debate between them. By distinguishing between design-based and use-based refusals of service and then arguing that some use-based refusals are tantamount to discrimination on the basis of protected traits, I argue that Jack Phillips did indeed discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. I also argue that another baker, who refused to create a “Leviticus 18:22 ‘Homosexuality is a detestable sin’ ” cake, did not discriminate on the basis of religion. I thus side with Justice Kagan against Justice Gorsuch on the question of whether the Colorado commission treated the two bakers inconsistently.

Abstract:
Abstract Elder neglect is common and can have catastrophic consequences. Cases may benefit from integrated responses from multiple sectors. Little research exists describing prosecutorial involvement and its impact, but existing evidence suggests neglect is seldom criminally prosecuted. Our goal was to closely examine neglect prosecution in a jurisdiction that has been a leader in using prosecution to attempt to address it. We quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed legal case files of felony elder neglect prosecuted in King County, Washington from 2008-2011. 13 cases were prosecuted, with a total of 10 victims. 90% of victims were female, with a median age of 88. 90% were unable to ambulate, and 90% had dementia. Defendants were commonly the victim’s adult child (38%). 23% had previous criminal citations/convictions. 46% of cases occurred in an Adult Family Home. 15% of cases went to trial, and all trial cases ended in conviction of some charge. Themes identified included: (1) perpetrators were either professional caregivers receiving compensation or non-professional caregivers financially dependent on the victim, (2) victims were malnourished and severely injured at time of reporting, and (3) medical expert contribution is imperative given complexity of these cases. Victims were unable to participate in prosecution in any case. This research shows that these cases are seldom prosecuted, even in a jurisdiction focusing on this phenomenon, but highlights characteristics of cases and demonstrates they may be prosecuted without victim participation. Future research is needed to examine prosecution’s impact on elder neglect to better understand how it may be optimally used.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND Ruptured ectopic is a life threatening obstetric emergency. Obstetrician must have a high index of suspicion for ectopic pregnancy and should be aware of importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the incidence, clinical presentation, risk factors, treatment and morbidity associated with ectopic pregnancy. METHODS Retrospective analysis of ectopic pregnancy was done in King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam from January 2020 to December 2020 in the department of OBG. The following parameters: Age, risk factors, clinical presentation, site of ectopic, diagnostic methods, mode of treatment were noted. RESULTS A total of 63 cases were reported during this time frame. It is a tertiary care centre getting referrals from nearby districts and other hospitals. Incidence of ectopic pregnancy in the present study is 0.89 %. 41.26 % of patients belonged to age group between 26 to 30 years. Out of 63 cases 49.20 % were multigravida. 28 % of the cases were associated with previous H/O abortions and 23 % of the cases were associated with PID and in 17.4 % of the cases there was no predisposing factors. 96.82 % the patients presented with pain abdomen. Shock in 34.92 % of the cases. Ampulla is the most common site of ectopic. In 76 % of the cases there was hemoperitoneum > 500 ml. Salpingectomy was done in 79.3 % cases. 84 % of cases required blood transfusion > 1 unit. There was no mortality. CONCLUSIONS Ectopic pregnancy is one of the obstetric emergency with significant morbidity and mortality. PID and post abortal sepsis are one of the important risk factors for ectopic pregnancy. As many patients may not have recognizable risk factors, a high index of suspicion is critical for early diagnosis. Early USG diagnosis of ectopic pregnancies reduces mortality and enables us to offer the patient conservative medical and surgical treatment. KEYWORDS Ectopic Pregnancy, TVS, Ampulla, Salpingectomy

Abstract The trouvère repertory contains over a hundred groups of contrafacta with a variety of parodic, satirical and devotional functions. This article discusses how certain cases of contrafacture can reshape the ways in which we imagine text–music relations. Through two cases—a serventois protesting the policies of King Louis IX of France, modelled on a song by Blondel de Nesle, and a contrafact of a song by the Chastelain de Coucy that comments on its own contrafaction—I argue not only for a medieval interest in melody’s representative potential, but also that this kind of representation was generated in a process similar to that of language—through repeated use in various contexts. Drawing briefly on semiotics, I suggest that these two melodies become ‘signs’ in that they represent or stand in for something else.

Abstract:
Background: To review the indications, patients' demographics, and anaesthetic protocol and to analyze perioperative complications of liver transplantation surgery. Methods: Retrospective analysis of 70 cases of LT in the period between June 2004 and October 2020 at King Hussein medical centre. Preoperative factors such as patients' demographics, age, gender, etiology of hepatic pathology, laboratory investigations, model for end-stage liver disease scores, duration of surgery and type of liver donation were recorded. Intraoperative factors such as anaesthetic and surgical protocols, need of blood product transfusions and haemodynamic monitoring were analyzed. Postoperative tracking of patients' complications and outcomes was done. Results: 68 living donor and two cadaveric LT procedures. Male to female ratio was 2.9:1.The age of LT recipients ranged from 3 to 62 years with an average age of 38.45 years. Their body weights ranged from 13 to 100 kg with mean body weight of 67.03 kg. Most common indication was cryptogenic liver cirrhosis (21.4%), followed by cirrhosis due to viral hepatitis B (15.7%). Autoimmune hepatitis was an indication in 11.4% and hepatitis C liver cirrhosis in 10%. All living donors were closely related. Right hepatic lobe graft was used in 85.7% of transplantations. Average red cells concentrate (RCC) transfused (units) was 3.1±3.97 (mean±SD). Duration of surgery (hours) was 12.5±2.4 (mean±SD). Fast track LT with extubation in theatre was done in 37 LT recipients (52.9%). Readmission to operative theatre was needed in 5 recipients (7.14%). Most common long term complications were biliary leak (20%), biliary stenosis (14.2%) and recurrence of primary disease (12.9%).Conclusions: Transplantation from living donors was by far more common in our study population. Majority of recipients were male and cryptogenic liver cirrhosis was the most common indication. Right hepatic lobe graft was used mostly. Biliary leak was the most common postoperative complication. Surgical time duration and blood products transfusion decreased significantly over years since the start of LT program.

Abstract:
Individual-level Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) case data suggest that certain populations may be more impacted by the pandemic. However, few studies have considered the communities from which positive cases are prevalent, and the variations in testing rates between communities. In this study, we assessed community factors that were associated with COVID-19 testing and test positivity at the census tract level for the Seattle, King County, Washington region at the summer peak of infection in July 2020. Multivariate Poisson regression was used to estimate confirmed case counts, adjusted for testing numbers, which were associated with socioeconomic status (SES) indicators such as poverty, educational attainment, transportation cost, as well as with communities with high proportions of people of color. Multivariate models were also used to examine factors associated with testing rates, and found disparities in testing for communities of color and communities with transportation cost barriers. These results demonstrate the ability to identify tract-level indicators of COVID-19 risk and specific communities that are most vulnerable to COVID-19 infection, as well as highlight the ongoing need to ensure access to disease control resources, including information and education, testing, and future vaccination programs in low-SES and highly diverse communities.

Abstract:
Abstract Abstract 4862 BACKGROUND Jordan is a small country with an estimated mid year population in 2008 of 5 850 000, 3015000 of whom are males and 2 835 000 are females (male: female ratio 1.06: 1). (Department of Statistics Jordan, 2008). About 12.7 % of the population is under 5 years old, and 37.3 % under 15 years old. 11%if the population are 15–19 year old, with a M:F ratio 1.06:1 as well) Only 3.3 % of the total population is above the age of 65 years old (sex ratio of 1.01 male per 1 female in this age group). According to the Jordan Cancer Registry Report for 2008, Lymphoma is the fourth most common Cancer in the country. A total of (4606 ) new cases of cancer were recorded among Jordanians in the year 2008, 333 (7.2%) of whom had a diagnosis of lymphoma.111 (2.4%) were diagnosed as Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL), and 222 (4.8%) as Non Hodgkin Lymphoma(NHL). OBJECTIVE In this study, we aim to characterize some of the clinico-pathological features of Hodgkin lymphoma in Jordan by analyzing the data available for patients referred to King Hussein Cancer Center over a seven year period. PATIENTS AND METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted of adults (>18 years) lymphoma patients referred to KHCC, between 1/1/2003 and 31/12/2010. Clinical features and histological subtypes were prospectively established for all patients registered in the Lymphoma Service Database. Pathology review and original paraffin block were mandated for all patients. RESULTS Over the 8 year period of 2003–2010,1329 lymphoma patients were referred to KHCC and registered in the Lymphoma Service Database, of whom 477 (35.9%) were diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Among this group all 477 patients were adults 18 years or older (100%), as children are treated in a different department. The median age was 35 years, (with an age range of 18–77), and 5% of patients were above the age of 60. 290 (61 %) of the patients were males, 187 (39%) were females, with a male to female (M:F) ratio of 1.55:1. 276 (57.8%) of the HL cases had a diagnosis of nodular sclerosis Hodgkin lymphoma (HDNS), making it the most common histological subtype. 120(25.2%) had mixed cellularity Hodgkin lymphoma (HDMC), 9 (1.9%) had lymphocyte-rich Hodgkin lymphoma (HDLR), and 6 (1.2%) had lymphocyte-depleted Hodgkin (HDLD). Nodular lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHD) cases were 33, and constituted 6.9% of the HL cohort. CONCLUSION Hodgkin lymphoma appears to constitute a bigger share of the lymphoma burden in Jordan, as opposed to Europe and the US. Clinico-pathological features, however, appear to be closer to those described in Western countries, with similar incidence of HDNS, and HDMC subtypes, but possibly with less incidence of HDLR and HDLD subtypes. Abstract:
Objective.Pertussis outbreaks in healthcare settings result in resource-intensive control activities, but studies have rarely evaluated the associated costs. We describe and estimate costs associated with 2 nosocomial pertussis outbreaks in King County, Washington, during the period from July 25 to September 15, 2004. One outbreak occurred at a 500-bed tertiary care hospital (hospital A), and the other occurred at a 250-bed pediatric hospital (hospital B).Methods.We estimated the costs of each outbreak from the hospitals' perspective through standardized interviews with hospital staff and review of contact tracing logs. Direct costs included personnel time and laboratory and medication costs, whereas indirect costs were those resulting from hospital staff furloughs.Results.Hospital A incurred direct costs of $195,342 and indirect costs of $68,015; hospital B incurred direct costs of $71,130 and indirect costs of $50,000. Cost differences resulted primarily from higher personnel costs at hospital A ($134,536), compared with hospital B ($21,645). Total cost per pertussis case was $43,893 for hospital A (6 cases) and $30,282 for hospital B (4 cases). Total cost per person exposed to a pertussis patient were $357 for hospital A (738 exposures) and $164 for hospital B (737 exposures).Conclusions.Nosocomial pertussis outbreaks result in substantial costs to hospitals, even when the number of pertussis cases is low. The cost-effectiveness of strategies to prevent nosocomial pertussis outbreaks, including vaccination of healthcare workers, should be evaluated.

Abstract:
AbstractIdentification of different iconographic features has allowed modern scholars to argue cases for several possible candidates responsible for the commissioning and representation within Plate LIII. Due to minor characteristically different chariots and artistic techniques, scholars have made widely divergent claims about the origins of the wall paintings that were found at Til-Barsip. In this paper I contend that one vital iconographic factor has been overlooked by modern scholarship and that it is the key to proving that a specific Assyrian king was responsible for Plate LIII. It is concluded that the Assyrian king depicted in the Til-Barsip wall painting was left-handed and by a process of elimination can be none other than Esarhaddon.

Abstract:
Two recently published inscriptions afford new insights into this subject. They were published separately and independently within a year or two of one another. Much is now to be gained by considering them together. The first inscription, found at Philippi in 1936, published by C. Vatin in Proc. 8th Epigr. Conf. (Athens, 1984), 259–70, and published with a fuller commentary by L. Missitzis in The Ancient World 12 (1985), 3–14, records the decision by Alexander the Great on the use of lands given by his father, Philip II, and in some cases confirmed by himself. The second inscription, found at the site of ancient Kalindoia (Toumpes Kalamotou) in 1982, was published with exemplary speed and an excellent commentary by I. P. Vokotopoulou in Ancient Macedonia 4 (Thessaloniki, 1986), 87–114. It records the names of the priests of Asclepius on a stele dedicated to Apollo; and in the preamble it mentions the name of Alexander, being Alexander the Great. Philippi and Kalindoia were both within the limits of the kingdom of Philip and Alexander (Str. 7 fr. 35).

Abstract:
Background: Poisoning is being more frequently encountered nowadays, both globally and locally. Knowing what poisons are involved more commonly and what kind of victims present with this condition, helps the clinicians to manage and treat the patients in a better manner and lessens the mortality rates. Objectives: To determine the age group and gender most vulnerable to fatal poisoning. To identify the agent used for poisoning. Material & Methods: The descriptive retrospective study was carried out King Edward Medical University, Lahore and reviewed the autopsy records of victims of fatal poisoning from January 2018 to December 2019. The data was analyzed using the SPSS software. Results: In the total 67 cases of poisoning that were studied, majority of the victims were males (85.07%).Most of the cases fell in the 21-30 years age group (53.73%), followed by the 31-40 years age group (23.88%).The overall mean age of the victims was calculated to be 32.597 years. Morphine was found to be the toxic agent in most cases (32 cases; 47.76%), followed by Dextromethorphan (26 cases; 38.80%) and codeine (19 cases; 28.35%). Conclusions: Poisoning is a serious issue that is more frequently encountered in our young adult and male population. Since narcotics were found in major share of the cases, measures should be taken for more strict control. Keywords: poisoning, autopsy, mortality, drug toxicity

Recent discussion of Scanlon's ‘buck-passing’ account of value, which analyses the value of X in terms of agents' reasons for having certain pro-attitudes or contra-attitudes towards X, has generated the ‘wrong kind of reason’ problem (WKR problem): this is the problem, for the buck-passing view, of being able to acknowledge that there may be good reasons for attributing final value to X that have nothing to do with the final value that X actually possesses. I briefly review some of the existing solutions offered to the WKR problem, including those by Philip Stratton-Lake and Jonas Olson, and offer a new, better one, which accommodates all the relevant cases presented in the literature.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTBackground: In April 2009, King County, Washington, experienced a sustained outbreak of 2009 H1N1 influenza A. This report describes the epidemiology of that outbreak in King County, home to a diverse population of 1.9 million people. Methods: The 2 primary sources of data are case investigations of reported laboratory-confirmed 2009 H1N1 influenza A and a population-based syndromic surveillance system that captures data from emergency departments (EDs). A syndromic category for influenza-like illness was defined based on chief complaint and diagnosis. Results: ED visits for influenza-like illness peaked quickly in the first week of the outbreak and remained high for approximately 6 weeks, with school-age children accounting for the greater number of ED visits, followed by young adults. Children ages 0 to 4 years had the highest rate of hospitalization. Among reported cases, blacks, Asians, and Hispanics were more likely to be hospitalized. Predisposing factors associated with admission were immune compromise, chronic lung disease, chronic heart disease, pregnancy, diabetes, and asthma. Of people receiving antiviral treatment, 34% started their medication more than 2 calendar days after the onset of illness. Mean days between illness onset and antiviral treatment were greater for blacks, Hispanics, and foreign language speakers. Conclusions: The spring 2009 influenza A H1N1 outbreak disproportionately affected children, young adults, and racial and ethnic minorities. Opportunities exist to improve the timeliness of antiviral treatment. Potential barriers to care for racial and ethnic minorities should be proactively addressed to ensure prompt evaluation and treatment. I examine a recently proposed solution to the ecological inference problem (King 1997). It is asserted that the proposed model is able to reconstruct individual-level behavior from aggregate data. I discuss in detail both the benefits and limitations of this model. The assumptions of the basic model are often inappropriate for instances of aggregate data. The extended version of the model is able to correct for some of these limitations. However, it is difficult in most cases to apply the extended model properly.

Abstract:
The background of this research is the support of the people of Yogyakarta to the sultan to lead Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This paper is aimed at examining the relationship between a king and the community in the democracy era. The cases examined specifically in this study were the case of the proposed law of Yogyakarta in the Sutet region, and the ore mining case in Kulonprogo. Research was conducted qualitatively by collecting data through documentation, observation and interview. Informant retrieval technique is done by cluster technique. This research is analyzed by rational choice theory which assumes that people are always trying to optimize the choices that bring benefits (Mallarangeng 2008: 9, Kuper & Kuper 2000: 895). The study had various findings, such that public support of the king could not be explained by the concept of Javanese power and that logical consideration in the form of the interest proximity of each group becomes a concept of public support against the king. When the group interests are closer, they show their support, but, when the gap becomes wider, they readily change their support without fear of karma.

Methodology: Literature Review and medico-legal commentary. Results: Fatal one-punch assaults have been reported extensively in the media. This article provides a commentary on recent policy developments and legislative amendments in Australia regarding so called ‘one-punch’ assaults. Comparisons are made with the situation in other jurisdictions including the UK, US, and Europe. The clinical forensic medical aspect of fist strikes to the head and face is examined in the context of the recent media attention and public interest these cases have attracted. The increased recognition of the risk of harm and death inherent in these types of assaultive behavior is reflected in the policy and legislative changes that have taken place in some jurisdictions. Conclusion: One punch strikes may result in a range of injuries that can include permanent neurological impairment and death. Recent media and community concern regarding these cases and the need for stronger deterrence has resulted in a change in public policy and consequent legislative amendments.

Abstract:
Abstract Through assertions of ‘sovereignty’, modern nation states lay claim to an undivided authority. It is commonly suggested that this kind of political assertion superseded the overlapping authorities of medieval theological imagination. But in settler colonial states, Indigenous sovereignties endure to the present, not washed away by the ‘tide of history’, and in many cases Indigenous peoples embrace Christian identities along with traditional law and custom. The peculiar complexities of Australian history reveal many counter-examples to the conventional modernist tale, and in particular, the article seeks to show how Indigenous Christians snatched the King James Bible from Protestant doctrines of discovery. This discussion comes at an historically significant time as Australian state governments contemplate treaty making with the First Nations, each of whom exercise their own alternative model of sovereignty within local jurisdictions. This article argues that biblical theologies can support the making of modern treaties.

SummaryFour flow cases are calculated using a boundary layer method with five turbulence models. The Johnson-King model, in particular, is modified and two variant forms are used in the present work. The variant forms involve an anisotropic form of three-dimensional eddy viscosity formulations and a modification in the outer viscosity expression. It is found that the Johnson-King model generally performs very well as compared to the others, and the variant forms provide further improvement in most cases.

Study on growth of mangrove cockle (Anadara antiquata) was conducted in the intertidal area of Passo, Inner Ambon Bay. Three size-classes of 25 individual cockles were cultured in 1 m3 cage. Length increment data was collected every two weeks for seven periods of observation. Relative growth rate, length-weight relationship and condition factor were estimated using formula proposed by Effendie, Pauly and King, respectively. The results showed that the small size had the highest length increment and relative growth rates while the large size had the best condition factor. Length-weight relationship showed isometric growth for all categories.
