Abstract:
This dissertation is based on the premise that the Bible, in addition to being a work of historical and theological significance, is also a work of literary significance. As such, the aim of the dissertation is to study the biblical figure of David as a literary character. In particular, it focuses on various techniques of characterization used to present this character to the reader. The primary texts examined in this dissertation are I Sam. 16 - I Kings 2:10, and Psalms 3, 7, 18, 34, 51, 52, 54, 56, 57, 59, 60, 63 and 142. This thesis examines the literary figure of King David in the narrative of Samuel-Kings. John Van Seters, in his book The Biblical Saga of King David, has identified two major blocks of tradition in the Samuel-Kings version of the narrative of David. Van Seters contends that the earlier Deu teronomistic narrative (DtrH) portrays David as the ideal king of a unified Israel, and that this narrative was overlaid by a later Persian period narrative (the David Saga,) which was written as a reaction to the Deuteronomistic narrative, and which sought to undercut its monarchical ideology. Pere III of Catalonia (1319-1387) began his reign in 1336. As count-king, he reigned over Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia. The Chronicle of Pere III of Catalonia covers the years 1319-1369, fifty years of a nearly seventy year life. Pere wrote this chronicle in collaboration with his chancery office. Bernat Descoll was the main contributor from the chancery, and he consulted with the king as he wrote it. The chronicle reflects spiritual justifications for actions that occurred during Pere's reign, such as his conflict with the Uniòns of Aragon and Valencia, as well as his conflict with Pedro I

Often aligned with post-postmodernism, David Foster Wallace’s later work retreats from the ironic detachment and cynicism of postmodernism in favor of a more sincere approach to writing. This is especially evident in his posthumous novel, The Pale King, a work dealing with what it means to be human in the Information Age. After locating the novel’s setting within a recent history of American masculinity and work, this paper examines several of the novel’s male characters as they struggle to be fully realized boys and men, concluding that The Pale King is Wallace’s final statement that enduring

It seeks to outline and assess just what style and policies of kingship David adopted and adapted to meet the rapidly changing circumstances of his reign. Chapter 1 assesses the legacy of kingship, patronage, civil war and diplomacy which the apparently successful usurper, Robert I, left to his five year old son and his supporters. Abstract:
This dissertation argues that Book IV of the canonical Hebrew Psalter (Pss 90–106) sustains the hope that God will keep his covenant with David by installing a future king from David’s line. Chapter 3 assesses the importance of King David’s influence over the biblical and non-biblical Hebrew cultural and religious identity to determine the likelihood and a

The goal is to evaulate particular interpretations and attributes of the biblical King David, one of the most beloved although inconsistent figures of all times. The diploma thesis is divided into three parts; comparison of two mainly followed litterary works and a pers
