Full textWhoever wants to question the works of klossowski in the perspective of the simulacra should perhaps begin to wonder about what this term means in this context. Klossowski was not content with a systematic mise en scone of this concept throughout the different issues he deals with. Whatever it is about, a historical fact, a religious face or an episode of everyday life, klossowski's scene can't be reduced to a mere representation of a theme. Under the constant authority of the simulacra, the scene never stops throwing a suspicious light on its own truth. Thus the experience of klossowski stans as the result of the fragile and suspicious compromise in which he finds himself constrained, a compromise revealed by the untruthful voice and the spying look. This compromise is the frame for the gesture of suspicion, precisely given where the aesthetics of the mask meets the logic of the zigzag. Within this compromise, the experience of klossowski seems to acknowledge the demand of the image as it is conceived by the greeks, that is to say as an attention between the aesthetics pleasure and the exigence of ethics

Full textThe purpose of this study is: 1. To underline the sources of the work of Pierre Klossowski; 2. To demonstrate the modus operandi of Klossowski's texts. The thesis illustrates the "esoteric" references: theologies (Paganism and Christianism), occultism and foremost alchemy; we demonstrate how the Klossowski's texts work: what we call "manifestations occultantes", pneumatology, "mystery" and hermetic Art. To reach this goal, our interpretation intends to articulate a dualism - or more accurately a "dualitude" - in between body and spirit. This "dualitude" being exposed, we propose an accentuation of the spiritual side of our dual scheme, so that there is a clear emphasis of the spirit over the letter, of the interpretations over pure facts, of the immaterial over matter, of the difference over the identical. Not that we intend to negate the body to promote a full blown spiritualism, but that we have to insist upon the signature of things, on the principle that Physics have to presuppose Metaphysics, and that Metaphysics needs bodies to be build on. The thesis is composed of a detailed lecture of Le "bain de Diane" (Diana's Bath), a phenomenological study of "Le Baphomet", some remarks on "Les lois de l'hospitalité" (Laws of Hospitality), in particular on "l'instant de la porte ouverte" (the open door moment), and an interpretation of Klossowski's interpretation of Nietzsche. The object of this work is to elucidate the difficulties in the literary and philosophical work of Klossowski

Full textThis thesis concerns perversion as a structure. The pervers subject is bound to denying (verleugnung) castration in the other. Through this way, he tries to make the other exist as complet, full, relieved from castration. To do this he tries to reduce himself to the object in which he is identified in the logic of his phantasy. His aim lies only in enjoyment. The pervet fetichises enjoyment. In this attempt, he fails, the other of the law (of castration) separates hi m forever from. . . The other sex. The voyeurist is identified to the object sight which he tries to restitute to the other so as to complete it. The work of pierre klossowski - born in 1905 -, fictional, theoritical and plastic, demonstrates the modalities of this failure of castration. It demonstrates how the subject can give an answer to this failure. We say work insofar as klossowski is his work. Far from the presuppositions of "applied" psychoanalysis, this thesis puts knowledge and teaching on the side of the wor k. It is in this that the work - here klossowski's - is "seen" by psychoanalysis

Full textThis thesis follows a twofold approach. Firstly, it consists of textual genetics applied to Pierre Klossowski's unpublished manuscripts relating to La monnaie vivante (1970), an analysis which is accompanied by a theoretical and historical contextualisation. On the basis of previously unpublished material, the aim is to enrich and complicate the situation of Klossowski's thought in relation to his contemporaries, particularly from the perspective of a general economy of subjectivation that can be placed in dialogue with the works of Georges Bataille, Walter Benjamin, Günther Anders, Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault and Gilbert Simondon. This contextualisation also takes account of the relationship between the French theoretical field of structuralism and that of cybernetics in the United States, as two interdisciplinary approaches with well-known links that form part of the genealogy of German media thought. Secondly, this research consists of adapting and translating Klossowski's theoretical proposal in its transversal dimension, with a view to its implementation in contemporary discussions within media thinking. In this sense, it is a question of addressing the relationships between the economy of affects developed by Klossowski, insofar as it outlines a processual or general aesthetic articulating processes of subjectivation adaptable to a computerised context, and recent transformations in media thinking: ecotechnics and relational thinking, media archaeology, analysis of cultural techniques. Indeed, insofar as it addresses processes of subjectivation from the point of view of the materiality of industrial and impulsive apparatuses, Klossowski's general economy resonates with the different areas of media thinking that have recently addressed the environmental, anthropological and materialist dimensions of media use. From a broader perspective, this thesis interrogates a genealogical line of contemporary posthumanities. In so doing, it explores a lineage of Nietzschean posthumanism and its relationship with media theory and the various fields that surround it, that preceded it and that nourish it today. Finally, the aim of this approach is to bring theory up to date, so as to enable a novel analysis of the productions of subjectivity inscribed in different computerised devices
