Abstract:
Michael Balint’s pioneering work in primary care was not simply the application of psychodynamic theory to the complex problems and relationships encountered by clinicians. Rather, Balint’s work was part of a wider conversation in Western epistemology that had already begun to break down the enlightenment rationalist agenda. Since the time of Descartes, we sought to find certain truth through decontextualizing and abstracting problems, and through separation of the observer from the thing observed, with a focus on finding universal timeless laws that could be generalized. By the mid-1950s, it was clear that this agenda was insufficient to answer important questions about what it means to be human and to live a healthy and happy life. Balint’s experiment was a return to a method of knowledge creation that is case based, narrative, local, timely, particular, and especially considers specific contexts for finding solutions to problems. For current healthcare reform efforts to be effective, we must include Balint's focus on the context of the doctor, patient, and their relationship, as well as development of practical wisdom (i.e. Aristotelian phronesis) that we know in medicine as professional judgment. The case study method of the Balint group is one of the few and best formal methods to teach and practice this way of knowing.

Abstract:
The phenomenon under investigation is the transition from an industrial society to a society that is based to a larger extent on knowledge resources. The question the authors are investigating is: What are the key value creation processes in a knowledge-based organization? The objective of the article is to understand and explain the social mechanisms that influence the development of knowledge-based organizations. The method used is conceptual generalization. The findings are linked to a new emphasis on information structure (infostructure), and a new way of organizing (front line focus), the modulization of work processes, and global competence clusters.

Abstract:
Digitization efforts across the world have resulted in the need for businesses to own a website. All Fortune 500 companies run websites for either information dissemination or for transacting business. This has led to the increase in the number of websites as well as a growing competition to outdo each other. In order to gain competitive advantage, businesses need to have a detailed track of the activities going on their website to suffice their decisive knowledge. However, to monitor and to optimise the website performance, organisations need strong web analytics tools and skills. This work presents a comprehensive review of the web analytics tools and techniques, which are vital to report the website performance and usage. Present day practices of web analytics have been outlined from the perspective of business organisations, with suitable examples. A comparative analysis of the most important web analytics tools have been presented, including the free as well as subscription based tools. Future challenges and opportunities to web analytics practices have also been presented.

Abstract:
Purpose Despite the importance of evidence-based practice, the translation of knowledge into quality healthcare continues to be stymied by an array of micro, meso and macro factors. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a need to consider different – if not unconventional approaches – like the role of positive emotion, and how it might be used to promote and sustain knowledge translation (KT). Design/methodology/approach By reviewing and coalescing two distinct theories – the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions and the organisational knowledge creation theory – this paper presents a case for the role of positive emotion in KT. Findings Theories pertaining to positive emotion and organisational knowledge creation have much to offer KT in healthcare. Three conceptual “entry points” might be particularly helpful to integrate the two domains – namely, understanding the relationship between knowledge and positive emotions; positive emotions related to Nonaka’s concept of knowledge creation; and the mutual enrichment contained in the parallel “upward spiralling” of both theories. Research limitations/implications This is a conceptual paper and as such is limited in its applicability and scope. Future work should empirically explore these conceptual findings, delving into positive emotion and KT. Originality/value This is the first paper to bring together two seemingly disparate theories to address an intractable issue – the translation of knowledge into quality healthcare. This represents an important point of departure from current KT discourse, much of which continues to superimpose artefacts like clinical practice guidelines onto complex healthcare context.

Abstract:
In this paper we delve into the health sector and explore the way vaccines might change in the near future. As new challenges emerge, health professionals are faced with the need for innovative, effective answers to many issues, such as health-threatening viruses and diseases, that grow increasingly more complex, calling for new and practical solutions. Building on this framework, we have decided to address edible vaccines - a completely innovative and simpler way to administer vaccines - not only to understand if it is viewed in a favorable light but also to find out how the knowledge regarding these vaccines can be increased. After a thorough literature review, it became clear that the information about edible vaccines is not evident and easy to access. We then decided to apply a mixed methodology in our study, based on 15 interviews, in person and by email, addressing healthcare professionals, with the intent of gathering their experience and possible knowledge about vaccines. Additionally, an online survey was created and answered by 370 concerned citizens, in order to ascertain their knowledge and receptiveness to this matter. Hereupon, we concluded that, in both samples, there was very limited knowledge about these vaccines, it becoming obvious how important it is to transmit qualified information through accessible means, such as newscasts, scientific papers and magazines, health centers and hospitals, among others. Regarding the level of acceptance by the public in general, our results show that this innovation is dependent on its correct disclosure and propagation, since it is of great advantage and benefit for society. In sum, how the relevant knowledge (including proof of effectiveness) is managed and disseminated will be key. traditional vaccines, edible vaccines, field work, mixed methodology, Genetically modified organisms, GMOs

Linse, Charlotta. "Ambiguity at the heart of design work : Sensing and negotiating ambiguity in knowledge-creation work." Doctoral thesis, KTH, Industriell Management, 2017. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kth:diva-206508.

Full text
Abstract:
Ambiguities have long intrigued design and new product development (NPD) researchers: The fascination seems rooted in an endeavor to understand how design outcomes may be created despite the ambiguous nature of such work. There are several classic contributions on how to categorize, avoid and approach ambiguities. Some of the newer theories have also pointed to benefits arising from temporarily sustaining ambiguity. Little research has considered how ambiguities emerge, how ambiguities are sensed by practitioners, and the actions the practitioners take, either to harness or to reduce the generative and transformative power of ambiguity, however. This is unfortunate, since ambiguities are at the heart of such knowing-work. If one does not know how to sense the emergence of ambiguities and act to reduce or harness their generative and transformative power, i.e. negotiate ambiguity, the work might become unproductive, confused, uncreative, and might require more energy and attention. The purpose of this research is to portray how ambiguities emerge and are negotiated in knowing-work. This is achieved by drawing on two cases of design and NPD work, from practice epistemology. The results indicated that the emerging ambiguities changed in the ongoing work, some being reduced, others becoming obsolete or persisting. The results also included five generalized actions to negotiate ambiguity: (1) constructing points of references, (2) mediating between perspectives, (3) anchoring in expertise, (4) disarming future resistance, and (5) creating shared visions. This research has concluded that the very essence of design work concerns the emergence and fading away of ambiguity. The actions taken to negotiate ambiguity mediates the emergence of the design outcome. This research makes two contributions: first, it illustrates how ambiguities open up design work by creating a space for action; second, it illustrates how actions to negotiate ambiguity maneuver in this space for action.

Cochliou, Despina. "Towards a practitioner-centric paradigm of MIS development and organisational knowledge creation in social care organisations." Thesis, University of Sussex, 2012. http://sro.sussex.ac.uk/id/eprint/42979/.

Full text
Abstract:
This study explores the Management Information Systems' (MIS) implementation and utilisation in social care organisations. The aim of this thesis is to study the level of social work practitioners' involvement in MIS selection and implementation and to determine the links between the utilisation of MIS in social care organisations and the creation of organisational knowledge. Thus, the thesis endeavours to increase understanding of the importance of MIS implementation for personnel and organisations, to capture its meaning and any implications this may have for organisational knowledge and social work practice. To further this aim, a two case-study design was developed and carried out in two social care organisations in England. Semi-structured interviews and direct observation were used as data collection tools. Interviews with open-ended questions were carried out with practitioners, team managers, senior managers and staff responsible for Information Technology applications and programmes. Data analysis was carried out utilising two key methods, within-case and cross-case analysis. The purpose of the analysis was to illustrate the participants' experiences within five main themes: Practitioners' and Team Managers' Feelings about the new MIS' Implementation, Participation, Management Information System, Social Work Practice, and Organisation and Organisational Knowledge. The research findings highlighted that social care organisations need radical shifts in organisational philosophy in order to achieve functioning MIS, and more importantly, to become ‘learning organizations' that capture and disseminate social work practice knowledge and skills. For example, practitioners' participation in MIS implementation was recognised as a key factor, which determined both MIS implementation and organisational knowledge creation in a social care organisation. The qualitative data gathered also revealed that there were constraints in engaging practitioners with organisational procedures and in make them feel valued. The thesis, based on the research findings, concludes with the proposal of two models for MIS implementation and organisational knowledge creation.

Abstract:
Knowledge management and knowledge creation is recognized to be of supreme importance to the competitive advantage of organisations as well as a major agent of change in the new era of the knowledge economy. This study empirically examines knowledge creation activities in the context of the banking industry. It extends the work of Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) and others on the theory of organisation knowledge creation by introducing the information technology infrastructure as an enabler of knowledge creation condition (ITISKCFs), accompanied by the culture and infrastructure of knowledge transfer. The research questions asked are: 'What are the characteristics of an IT infrastructure that enhance the knowledge enabling conditions, whether IT infrastructure capability can be define for knowledge creation? and 'What are the shared effects of the culture (CKT) and the infrastructure of knowledge transfer (IKT) when combined with IT infrastructure on knowledge creation activities?' A positivistic approach is adapted using quantitative data. A survey aimed at the middle managers of the financial services industry population was conducted in an effort to investigate the knowledge creation activities and to examine the relationship of knowledge enabling factors to the time spent on knowledge creation activities. Theoretical developments on organisational knowledge creation and knowledge enablers are presented and discussed. A conceptual framework is developed based on the theory and hypotheses which were generated. Variables of the research model are operationalised using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the data are analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM). The results of the data analysis suggested that ITISKCFs support the activities of tacit to tacit, explicit to tacit and explicit to explicit knowledge transfer, thus leading to the creation sympathised, systemic and operational knowledge. While ITISKCFs fail to support the activities of tacit to explicit transfer and, hence, failing to support the creation of conceptual knowledge. CKT is a significant enabler of the activities aimed at explicit to explicit and explicit to tacit knowledge transfer. IKT have failed to support the activity of tacit to tacit, tacit to explicit transfer, and only one element of IIKT (IIKTK& S) was a significant enabler of explicit to tacit, thus unable to support the creation of sympathised, conceptual knowledge and partially supported operational knowledge. While CKT fail to support the tacit to tacit transfer and, hence, the creation of sympathised knowledge, it was the only enabler of the conceptual knowledge; however, the statistical test suggested a significant but weak relationship.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to enlarge knowledge concerning teachers´ knowledge creation in their everyday practices. Of central importance are questions concerned with what a teacher’s daily work looks like, to what areas does the knowledge a teacher develops in her/his daily work belong and what is their content. The major area of interest involves how the day-to-day knowledge is created as well as which type of teaching that dominates. The study is based on ethnographic fieldwork. That implies the use of a wide range of data from different sources, in my case, participating observations, different kinds of interviews and informal conversations. I followed two senior level teachers over time, one for half a year and the other for almost a whole year. Teachers´ work. The results show that teachers’ work is immediate, unpredictable, intensive and oriented by action. The relational character of the work is in focus however. Teacher’s work on building relationships with their pupils is continuously ongoing the whole time and everywhere. Relationships are created and upheld. The teaching, which is the teachers’ main task, does not take the pure form that one could assume but in many respects consists of relationships, even if at a first glance this does not appear to be the case. I have found that beyond a teacher’s actions there is often a relationship-based explanation. Yet another task that takes another form than that one could imagine and that is continually present in the everyday work is that which I call work related to grade-setting. Teachers´ knowledge. I have discovered a number of dimensions of teachers’ practical knowledge that can be considered as ”new”. These originate principally from two main areas: Pupils and teaching. The pupil-related knowledge consists of four categories: individual knowledge, “reading” knowledge, relational knowledge and care knowledge. The teaching-related categories of knowledge are: tactical didactic knowledge, subject-didactic knowledge, meta-knowledge and survival knowledge. I regard all these forms of knowledge as contextual. They are also personal as they are created by the teacher in a unique environment. My impression is that the forms of knowledge are also use-oriented and that most of them comprise a social dimension. Teachers´ knowledge creation. My findings show that teachers´ knowledge creation in everyday practice takes place within three areas, relational work, practical didactic improvement and work related to grade-setting. What I mostly find in the teachers is knowledge creation of an extremely refined manner. They test, adapt, change and improve both for their own sake and for the pupils. I use the term refinement learning for this process. Most of the knowledge creation in teachers takes place through interaction foremost with individuals, but even with texts and objects. This is explained by the profession’s relational character. The situations the teachers are involved in are never exactly the same but demand modifications to strategies previously used. Learning is here seen as invite-initiated and is best understood from a situated perspective. The interplay processes alone however cannot explain the knowledge creation that occurs. The teachers’ reflections about their teaching, which lead to new lesson elements is one example. The creation of knowledge can then best be explained from a constructivist perspective even if it also has its origin in interactive situations. Here, learning is more self-initiated. Knowledge creation can be regarded as necessary, as all the situations the teacher is involved in require solutions. They can also be regarded as natural situations as the teacher is obliged to promote both the pupils’ learning and development. This forces them to formulate explanations in all possible ways and means so that the pupils understand, as well as their creating a favourable environment so that both learning and development are encouraged. Thus teachers’ knowledge creation arises when they are working. They must learn in order to be able to handle the job itself.

Abstract:
As society and business is becoming more complex, the creation and management of knowledge attracts more attention. For intelligence research it offers an alternative perspective on the art and science of intelligence that challenges a previous dominance of strategy and decision-making theories. The article is based on semi-structured interviews with intelligence personnel in four different multinational companies. Through the use of Burke’s pentad this article gives an account of important challenges encountered by intelligence personnel in modern business organizations due to an increasing dependence on different knowledge processes. These challenges are summarized in four central tasks for knowledge activists; that is to initiate and focus knowledge creation, to reduce the time and cost needed for knowledge creation, to leverage knowledge creation initiatives throughout the corporation and to guide knowledge creation by the instigation of complementary reference points. By engaging in these types of activities intelligence workers are able to stage and influence different sorts of analytical conversations, where the insights from these conversations as reformed knowledge govern an evolving strategy in dispersed circumstances. Thus, intelligence workers fulfil their purpose, which in this perspective can be viewed as creating better business in whatever process they engage in.

Smith, Andrew Fairley. "'Risk and resilience' : the mobilisation of professional knowledge in the creation of patient safety in anaesthetic practice : a reflexive interpretive synthesis of previously published work." Thesis, Lancaster University, 2016. http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?uin=uk.bl.ethos.727388.

Full text
Abstract:
The patient safety ‘movement’ has relied largely on formal, explicit structures in attempting to promote principles and practices from safety-critical industries within the healthcare sector. The ‘craft’ nature of medical practice is however, predicated on the interplay of formal and tacit experiential knowledge. The specialty of anaesthesia is a branch of medicine and yet the nature of anaesthetic practice resembles operational work within e.g. aviation and nuclear power, sharing with them the characteristics of time pressure, complex human-machine interactions, uncertainty and risk. This thesis takes the form of an interpretive meta-synthesis of six published journal articles to examine how patient safety is constructed and enacted through the transmission and co-creation of professional knowledge. After delineating the forms of knowledge used in anaesthetic work, it describes how abstract notions of safety are expressed within a number of specific aspects of practice: the use of electronic monitoring equipment; communication between actors on induction of, and emergence from, general anaesthesia; the definition and analysis of adverse incidents; postoperative handover of care in the recovery room and in the performance of regional anaesthesia as an exemplar technical procedure. Anaesthetists draw both on informal logics and routines of practice and on codified safety knowledge and tools. How, and when, to reconcile these two approaches relies on a dynamic combination of cognitive, affective and normative influences, which seem to be embedded in anaesthetists’ professional identity. Paradoxically, much of this seems to be learned through contact with the very failure and error that the routines are designed to avoid and prevent; It is developed through dealing with the many perturbations and threats to the safety of their patients, whether through personal experience, the ‘cautionary tales’ of others, or imagining what might go wrong. The interpretive synthesis thus provides empirical support for theoretical notions of how resilience to error is created in everyday work in safety-critical settings.

Mobile workers are professionals who frequently work on the move, far from a fixed workplace, often performing knowledge-intensive activities. Mobility brings challenges to the processes of knowledge creation and sharing of these workers, and the existing literature lacks theoretical frameworks to explain these phenomena. Considering this gap, this study seeks to answer the following research question: How knowledge creation and knowledge sharing are carried out in collaborative problem-solving situations in the mobile workers’ context? The primary purpose of this investigation is to analyse how knowledge creation and knowledge sharing are carried out in collaborative problem-solving situations in the mobile workers’ context. To reach the research goals, this study applied Activity Theory (AT) and its key concepts as a theoretical lens. This theoretical approach allowed better understanding both the individual (the mobile worker) as well as his relations in his/her social context. Besides, the adoption of the Design Science Research method (DSR) provided tools for a deeper understanding of the research problem and also to propose an approach to stimulate knowledge creation and sharing through collaborative problem-solving in the mobile workers’ context. The results of this study helped to understand the fundamental needs of mobile workers related to knowledge creation and knowledge sharing to solve work problems. It was observed that these workers use their ICT tools, especially mobile ICT, to conduct the majority of their collaborative problem-solving situations and subsequently, to create and share knowledge on the move. The findings also highlight how mobile technologies are used to support collaborative problem-solving in the mobile work’ context. Therefore, the key argument tested and supported in this thesis is that collaborative problem-solving mediated by mobile ICT can support and stimulate knowledge creation and knowledge sharing in the context of mobile workers. This research makes a theoretical contribution by exploring this key argument with the use of AT as a theoretical lens. Since this theory was not used so far to analyse practices of knowledge creation and sharing in the context of mobile workers, this study contributes to the expansion of this theory in this subject. The results of the empirical data also provided lessons from the practice that can contribute to the theory, mainly considering the diversity of workplaces that mobile workers can use to perform their work activity. Also, this study provides methodological and practical contributions; through a detailed descriptive of how to apply the DSR in IS (Information Systems) studies, in addition to the artifact developed that can be used in practice. Finally, this study addresses some questions that can be explored in future research.

Increasingly, learning in groups has become present in school environments. This fact is also part of the organizations, when considers learning in the workplace. Conscious of the importance of group learning at the workplace (CSCL@Work) emerges as an application area. In Computer Supported Collaborative Learning(CSCL), researchers have been struggling to maximize the performance of groups by techniques for forming groups. Is that why this study developed three (3) algorithmic approaches to formation of intraheterogeneous and inter-homogeneous groups, as well as a model proposed in this work in which integrates dichotomous functional characteristics and preferred roles. We made an algorithm that generates random groups, a Canonical Genetic Algorithm and Hybrid Genetic Algorithm. We obtained the input data of the algorithm by a survey conducted at the Court of the State of Goiás to identify dichotomous functional characteristics, and after we categorize these characteristics, based on the data found and the model proposed group formation. Starting at real data provided of employees whom participated in a course by Distance Education (EaD), we apply the model and we obtained the input data related to functional features. As regards the favorite roles, we assigned randomly values to the employees aforementioned, from a statistical statement made by Belbin into companies in the United Kingdom. Then, we executed the algorithms in three test cases, one considering the preferred papers and functional characteristics, while the other two separately considering each of these perspectives. Based on the results obtained, we found that the hybrid genetic algorithm outperforms the canonical genetic algorithm and random generator.

Abstract:
The multidimensional open epistemological active network MOGAN is the basis for the transition to a qualitatively new level of creating logical artificial intelligence. Mivar databases and rules became the foundation for the creation of MOGAN. The results of the analysis and generalization of data representation structures of various data models are presented: from relational to "Entity — Relationship" (ER-model). On the basis of this generalization, a new model of data and rules is created: the mivar information space "Thing-Property-Relation". The logic-computational processing of data in this new model of data and rules is shown, which has linear computational complexity relative to the number of rules. MOGAN is a development of Rule - Based Systems and allows you to quickly and easily design algorithms and work with logical reasoning in the "If..., Then..." format. An example of creating a mivar expert system for solving problems in the model area "Geometry"is given. Mivar databases and rules can be used to model cause-and-effect relationships in different subject areas and to create knowledge bases of new-generation applied artificial intelligence systems and real-time mivar expert systems with the transition to"Big Knowledge". The textbook in the field of training "Computer Science and Computer Engineering" is intended for students, bachelors, undergraduates, postgraduates studying artificial intelligence methods used in information processing and management systems, as well as for users and specialists who create mivar knowledge models, expert systems, automated control systems and decision support systems. Abstract:
Abstract This chapter reviews key literature and concepts relating to the co-creation of digital public services. For this task, it is firstly important to consider what kind of digital public services may be suitable for co-creation. In order to do so, the first section of this chapter defines what a digital public service is (e.g. with respect to different types of service providers, different types of services and service delivery) and considers what kind of digital public services allow for meaningful citizen participation. To better conceptualise different degrees of participation, the subsequent section reviews Arnstein’s (1969) “ladder of citizen participation” and related work. This allows distinguishing between different degrees of non-participation, (consultative) participation and beyond. Thirdly, the chapter reviews traditional participatory approaches that provide the basis to co-creating of digital public services: (1) co-production of public services, (2) co-design and (3) civic open data use. The chapter summarises and compares the different rationales for participation in these approaches, and reviews how they understand the sharing of control, the sharing of knowledge and the enabling of change.

This paper describes a continuing study which uses a mixture of qualitative and quantitative research methods to identify factors which facilitate organizational and other types of collaborative learning. In this study, such learning is termed ‘social learning’, and refers to those factors which enable the sharing of knowledge and practice, and which foster generative learning. This paper’s specific focus is on the roles played by job satisfaction and morale in collaborative learning. The study to date has undertaken research in three settings: a tactical headquarters, a single service strategic headquarters; and a joint services strategic headquarters. The study’s long term aim is to develop architectures to support the development of organizational and information systems that enhance organizational learning and facilitate knowledge management.

Abstract:
This paper aims to analyze the process of knowledge creation, more specifically the four modes of knowledge conversion, on agricultural producers or farmers in Brazil, using the theoretical model of Nonaka and Takeuchi (1997). The research is an exploratory-descriptive study of a qualitative nature. The study demonstrated that for new knowledge to be created in the rural properties researched, at least three conditions should be considered essential: when people and their emotions are associated with work activities; when the personal relationships contribute to the improvement of the rules, the management and the policies of the farm; and when the knowledge is associated with experimentation and external incentives. For the creation of new knowledge to occur, information and insights from different sources, mainly, from co-operative, are also necessary to start the process of change in mental model and for the learning of people, groups and organizations in agribusiness.

Abstract:
Purpose – the purpose of the article is to reveal the role of the three dimensions – mutuality, empowerment and fit – in organizational performance and productivity with the main emphasis on creative knowledge work. The scientific problem could be expressed in the goal to identify the relationships between these elements and elicite research gaps to be filled. Research methodology – the methodology of the article used consists of scientific literature review, analyses and synthezes, structural equation modelling. Findings – in the part of the literature review the theoretical models are presented as the base and grounding for the creation of an empirical model. Research limitations – the main limitation of this research is the exclusion of risks and hazards in the workplaces as the focus is on the main positive factors which influence the performance. Avoiding negative dimensions limits prevention of emerging forces which usually require recourses. By investigating risk elements may give a more accurate view to the whole picture in organizations. Practical implications – the practical implication of the research results may identify the areas in SHRM policies which could require new or improved practices. Originality/Value – there are very limited number of researches which combine human resource and knowledge management, so the main novelty of this study is to answer one questions specific to one discipline by using findings of the other field

First outlined basic landmarks of his life and creation. Journalistic and editorial activity of Volodymyr Lenik was during to forty years out of Ukraine. In the conditions of emigration politically zaangazhovani Ukrainians counted on temporality of the stay abroad and prepared to transference of the created charts and instituciy on native lands. It was or by not main part of conception of liberation revolution of elaborate OUN under the direction of Stepan Banderi, and successfully incarnated in post-war years. Volodymyr Lenik, executing responsible commissions Organization, proved on a few directions of activity, which were organically combined with his journalistic and editorial work. As an editor he was promotorom of creation and realization of models of magazines «Avangard», «Krylati», «Znannia», «Freie Presse Korespondenz», newspapers «Shliakh peremogy». As a journalist Volodymyr Lenik left ponderable work, considerable part of which entered in two-volume edition «Ukrainians on strange land, or reporting, from long journeys». Subject of him newspaper-magazine publications directed on illumination of school, youth, student, cultural, scientific problems, organization and activity of emigrant structures, political fight of emigration, to dethronement of the antiukrainskikh Moscow diversions and provocations. Such variety of problematic of works of V. Lenika was directed in the river-bed of retaining of revolutionary temperament in the environment of diaspore, to bringing in of it to activity in public and political life. Problematic of him is systematized publicism and journalistic appearances, which was inferior realization of a few important tasks, namely to the fight for Ukrainian independence in new terms, cherishing and maintainance of national identity, counteraction hostile soviet propaganda. Abstract:
In the article according to the theory of the subject, patterns of the existence and genesis of the subject of “Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar” (USA) magazines was analysed, perspective of the emergence of new subjects was established, classification of the current subjects into universal and synthetic was suggested and some regularities of authorial creation of new subjects was examined. The main objective of the study is to identify patterns of existence of actual and formation of new topics in the Means of Mass Communication on the example of “Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar” magazines. In studying of the empiric basis of the research the method of observation is applied; in finding common themes for both publications – a comparative method was used. The method of analysis was used in the decomposition of topics into separate topics; in isolation from the features of the topic, uncharacteristic of a journalistic work – abstraction was applied. The elucidation that the subject appears as a formal verbal expression of a set of homogeneous topics was done by applying the method of formalization. The main results of the research are: obtaining the new classification of topics of “Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar” magazines; identification of a significant manifestation of universal themes on the pages of publications; establishment of the basic subjective (deontological) bases of formation of new subjects. A theoretical level of their knowledge will enrich science, equip practice, promote individual and world harmony.
