Language plays at least two roles in design. First, language serves as representations of ideas and concepts through linguistic behaviors that represent the structure of thought during the design process. Second, language also performs actions and creates states of affairs. Based on these two perspectives on language use in design, we apply the computational linguistics tools of latent semantic analysis and lexical chain analysis to characterize how design teams engage in concept formation as the accumulation of knowledge represented by lexicalized concepts. Abstract:
AbstractMarket governance of climate change is situated at the interface of two competing logics: universalistic governance predicated on technocratic norms and the particularities of politics embedded in local cultures. Actors implementing technocratic prescriptions for resolving climate change that rely on metrics to measure the effects of climate change, establish quantitative baselines and price emissions often miss the cultural values and social norms that shape markets. These logics of governance represent important axes along which climate policy can be mapped and assessed. This chapter assesses how policy intersects with these axes and in the process provides a broad-based qualitative and quantitative assessment of how geographically specific socio-cultural factors shape intersubjective understandings of carbon markets in particular. The authors of this chapter adopt a cross-national perspective, examining and evaluating the intersubjective meanings of carbon-market formation drawn from interview data of market makers across the United States, Australia, China, the EU, Japan, and South Korea.

Abstract:
AbstractTime regulation is an important aspect of the everyday life in any kindergarten and has an impact on which activities are given priority. In this case study, the outdoor playtime in one kindergarten in China and one in Norway is compared based on the understanding that children’s cultural formation develops in a dialectical relationship between children’s interests and motives and societal, institutional, and weather conditions. The aim of the article is to identify how time regulations provide conditions for children’s play and cultural formation during outdoor playtime. The research question is: How does institutional time regulation interplay with the pedagogical practice and children’s activities in the outdoor playtime? Employing a cultural-historical approach, drawing on Hedegaard’s concepts of development and cultural formation as an individual, institutional and societal process, the dialectical interplay between institutional time regulation and children’s engagement in outdoor activities is the unit of analysis in this study. Our findings indicate that the kindergarten teachers in the Chinese kindergarten as well as the Norwegian kindergarten aim to adjust the pedagogical content and time schedule to the traditions, values, and conditions in both countries. This chapter contributes to knowledge about the interplay between institutional conditions and children’s activities and cultural formation in outdoor play.

Abstract:
Small and medium-size companies are increasingly competing globally by forming horizontal alliances. To support this process there is a growing need for formation of virtual teams across company boundaries that can jointly develop new products and processes. A review of previous research shows that, although virtual teams have been well defined as a concept, the key variables involved in the formation of inter-organisational teams and the managerial implications remain comparatively unknown. The chapter provides a process perspective for researching virtual team formation and interaction patterns. By combining cross-disciplinary theoretical approaches, the reported study offers a conceptual overview for collective teaming in virtual settings. The research findings so far confirm that virtual team formation and evolution follow specific development patterns, which can be described as cyclical self-energising processes.

Abstract:
This paper presents a non-traditional strategy of group formation that engages students in utilizing prior learned knowledge to solve problems at a collaborative learning classroom. Through the grouping process students communicate mathematical thinking with their peers and physically moving around to find their matching cards and group parteners. The grouping process warms up students to launch an active learning mode. Although the grouping method was implemented in the mathematics content course for preservice elementary teachers and the capstone course for preservice secondary mathematics t

This paper describes the application of Taguchi design of experiments (DOE) methods to the initial development of the T800-LHT-801 growth engine combustor design. The performance of a gas turbine combustor is strongly influenced by the primary zone aerodynamics and stoichiometry. The interactions between fuel spray and airflows through swirlers, primary jets, and dome surface cooling dominate the primary zone characteristics. Development of a robust combustor design requires a good knowledge of the relative sensitivities of these interactions. In this application, the Taguchi DOE method was us

в статье рассматривается проблема формирования критического мышления в процессе обучения философии. Подчеркивается, что сама природа философского знания такова, что оно (знание) личностно ориентировано и может быть охарактеризовано как «сознание вслух» (М.К. Мамардашвили). Задача преподавателя философии состоит в создании условий для раскрытия душевных и интеллектуальных качеств студентов в векторе формирования креативности, самостоятельности мышления, толерантности и критичности. the article considers the problem of the formation of critical thinking in the process of teaching philosophy. The hazards from a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion (BLEVE) include the formation of a blast wave and the projection of missiles. To understand the maximum work that can be obtained from a BLEVE, the authors have investigated in previous publications certain aspects of BLEVE behavior using exergy analysis. One of the key limitations in relating exergy calculations to more realistic behavior is the lack of knowledge of how the exergy of the explosion is partitioned into various types of work that occur in the BLEVE process. Some of these work terms include the formation and propagation

Abstract:
This paper aims to discuss the challenges of higher education regarding the relationship between the university and the individual in the era of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). It proposes a new teaching-learning model that allows establishing an educational and transformative communication between university-student. Therefore, it is imperative to consider that technology by itself adds little to the construction of new knowledge and, in this sense, the university can wave towards the establishment of a new paradigm in the education-student relation. The article is dedicated to the investigation of time-space measurements of journalistic works of Eugen Sverstiuk, a well-known Ukrainian journalist. In particular, the time-space continuum of his works is being discussed, which is characterized as comprehensive, continuous, filled with archetypical images which metaphorize the text, but at the same time structure it, and are beaded on the axis of time and documentarily located in the space. The logics of images initiated in the text is exaggerated by constant dwelling of the author in the time-space dimensions of the epoque, of which he was a
