Abstract:
The climatic conditions and geographical location of Fergana, one of the most important basins of Turkestan, have brought the region to the forefront throughout history. The region has been a place where not only foreign powers but also Turkish tribes constantly raided. The Khanate of Kokand, which ruled in Fergana between 1709 and 1876, maintained its political power in the region for a long time and also contributed to the development of the city of Kokand with its construction activities. The city, which showed great development in a short time, became the capital of the khanate. Different building types such as mosques, madrasahs, tombs, bridges, baths, castles and palaces were built in Kokand. The city of Kokand became the center of science, culture and art of its time. Among the building groups in the city, tombs have a special importance because they are sacred places and are constantly visited. Among the surviving works of the Kokand Khanate in Kokand, Dahma-i Shahan and Madari Khan Tombs are remarkable in terms of their architectural features. It is known that Dahma-i Şahan Tomb belongs to the khans, and Madari Khan Tomb belongs to the female representatives of the khanate. In this study, Dahma-i Shahan and Madari Khan Tombs, which reflect the architectural features of the Kokand Khanate, are examined in detail in terms of plan, material and decoration features. Abstract:
This chapter contrasts the Sultanate of Morocco's strong performance during the 1859–1860 Spanish–Moroccan War with the Khanate of Kokand's disastrous outing during its 1864–1865 war with Russia. Though similar across 28 covariates, these belligerents were separated by a massive 0.69 difference in military inequality. Kokand's extreme level of inequality, one of the highest recorded in Project Mars, led to mass desertion, lopsided casualties, and the copious use of coercion to force its soldiers to fight. Moroccan forces, despite being outmatched by Spanish weapons, nonetheless managed to turn in a credible performance, exhibiting far greater resilience and tactical skill than Kokand's dispirited soldiers. Since little English-language historiography exists for either war, the chapter draws on Spanish, French, and Russian documents to explore how inequality affects battlefield performance.

Abstract:
Khokand Khanate (1709–1876) becomes the independent state at Umar khan’s (1810–1822) reign. In this situation legitimation was fabricated basing on the legend of Altun Bishik (“The Golden Cradle”). It tells that Babur allegedly left his son in golden cradle. The creation of dynasty of Kokand khans is based on the legend. The legend is given in the court historical work Mushrif Isfaragi “Shah nama-yi Umar khani” (“Umar-khan’s King’s Book”). On my supervision a legend about Altun Bishik was created on the basis of the general plot of the treatise “Bakhtiyar nama” (“[The Book About] Bakhtiyar”) of Daqayiqi Marwazi Samarqandi (12th–13thc.). There is a manuscript of the given work with the personal seal of ‘Umar khan.
