Abstract:
Insects are significant pests of stored pulses. It has been found that without adequate protection, Coleopteran pests, particularly beetles and weevils can quickly deteriorate stored grain and deplete entire stocks. A survey was conducted in various localities of the Kolhapur district to assess the diversity and insects infesting major stored pulses. The study indicates that six species of pulse beetles damage pulses during storage. Bruchids were the primary insect pests of legumes. Callosobruchus maculatus, Callosobruchus analis, and Callosobruchus chinensis emerged as the predominant pest of

The KT Weir (Kolhapur Type Bandhara) is a unique riverbed structure in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, designed to store water for agricultural use. Initially implemented during Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj's reign, this weir features piers with gaps, allowing water passage. Restored here as the 'MINI KT WEIR,' it emphasizes water storage over bridge functionality. Historical and contemporary weirs have served diverse purposes, from ancient fish harvesting to modern water management. For Mahadare, Satara, a 2008 KT Weir combats water scarcity. Restoration proves vital due to climate change-induce

ABSTRACT Mayflies (Ephemeroptera) are the most primitive and ancient insect group globally; there are about 3000 species of mayflies belonging to 400 genera and 42 families. Out of which 390 species belonging to 84 genera and 20 families occur in the oriental region. From India, 124 species of mayflies have been recorded under 46 genera and 12 families. Adult mayflies are terrestrial and immature forms are aquatic and called naids (nymphs). Mayflies are good source for food for various animal groups such as Insects, Platyhelminthes, Spiders, Pisces, Amphibians and Aves. Theref
