Abstract:
Abstract: In the 20th century, a number of authors engaged with the creation of a new conceptual framework to interpret love from a political perspective. They interpreted it as a political feeling and questioned the practice of relegating it to the private and intimate dimensions. In this article, light is shed on a foundational moment in the definition of this conceptual framework, looking first at Alexandra Kollontai’s reflections and then introducing Shulamith Firestone’s take on love, as the expression of a first theoretical turn. This initial subversión had a great impact on the forms in which the subsequent feminist generations theorised a political economy of love in the context of women’s struggles to become political subjects themselves and fight for their own emancipation.Through an analysis of Kollontai’s Largo all’Eros alato! and Shulamith Firestone’s The Dialectic of Sex, both linked to materialist traditions, we identify the role that, according to the authors, love – as a political feeling – plays in women’s struggle for freedom. These first intuitions have been particularly fruitful in framing feminist contemporary approaches to “romantic love” (Illouz, Esteban, Herrera). In Kollontai’s and Firestone’s texts, love is presented as an emotional and psychic pivot upon which patriarchal domination is founded and consolidated in bourgeois-capitalist societies. Nevertheless, Kollontai argues that love also has to be understood as a psycho-social feeling with a great potential to promote emancipatory relationships for women. These two perspectives also reveal the complex role that love plays in contemporary feminist reflection and the profound transformation that emerged, between the 1920s and the 1960s, in the forms in which women were represented as a specific group in a class society (Kollontai) or as a class per se under patriarchy (Firestone).Key words: Love, Materialist Feminism, Kollontai, Firestone, Class.

Abstract:
In this article, Beatrice Farnsworth suggests that Aleksandra Kollontai, Old Bolshevik, socialist-feminist, and former leader of the Workers' Opposition, survived Iosif Stalin's terror largely because in her effort to assure Stalin that she was no longer an oppositionist, she nurtured a friendly dynamic with him. Indeed, in their conversations, she pursued a gendered strategy of warm deference and flattery. Yet, while publicly serving the Soviet regime, even ingratiating herself with the party leadership, Kollontai, in diaries written for history, privately, and at risk to her life, mourned the regime's failure to develop "communist humanism." With their interlocking themes of emotion and personalities, her diaries not only provide insight into Kollontai's uncanny survival and the personal responses of an Old Bolshevik to political changes and people but offer a rare and intimate portrait of the internal life of Soviet politics at their highest level.

Abstract:
During the winter of 1922-1923 when she was just beginning her diplomatic career, Bolshevik activist Aleksandra Kollontai wrote two novels and several short stories that were immediately published in Russia and subsequently combined into two volumes under the titles Liubov’ pchel trudovykh and Zhenshchina na perelome. They were dismissed as mere autobiographical romances, indulging in unhealthy introspection and dangerously divorced from the “real” demands of society. At a time when Soviet Russia was facing enormous challenges connected with the reconstruction after the civil war and with the partial return to a market economy under the New Economic Policy (NEP), Kollontai's focus on domestic relationships and the status of women seemed narrow and excessively private.

Abstract:
The Russian revolution was intended to remove all limits to women's equality. Collective organizations were to take over the kinds of tasks–childcare, cooking, and cleaning–that had traditionally restricted women and limited their full participation in economic life, while legislative actions mandated equal economic, marital, and civil rights. Accompanying these changes was a "sexual revolution" (preached most famously by Aleksandra Kollontai) that encouraged equality in love and sex as well as in economics and politics.

Abstract:
Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District became extraordinarily infamous after its damnation by Pravda in 1936. The amount of violence and sex in the opera distinguishes it from the Leskov novella on which it was based, and seems to have underpinned Stalin's disapproval. The complex relation between Shostakovich's detailed representation of sexuality and his portrait of Katerina, the opera's tragic heroine, mirrors the social tensions of the sexual revolution and the conservative backlash of the 1920s and 1930s. The writings of feminist Alexandra Kollontai (1872–1952) about the new Soviet woman display striking similarities to Shostakovich's portrayal of his female characters and offer a context for his approach.

The article is devoted to the characterization of the cultural palette of Kremenets as one of the most important educational centers of Volhynia of the first half of the XIX century. The leading cultural center of the city of that time was the Volhynia gymnasium and lyceum (1805–1833). The opening of the institution became a true triumph of the dedication activity of its founders – Hugo Kollontai (1750–1812) and Tadeush Chatskyl (1765–1813). A separate page of the Kremenets culture is its connection with the famous Polish poet Yuliush Slovatskyl (1809–1849), and now his memorial museum is open in the city. The contemporary educational activity of the Kremenets Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy named after Taras Shevchenko is also considered.

The article focuses on several figures who are particularly interesting in terms of identifying a radical critique of capitalism that does not shrink from the possibility of designing and imaging a different future. Following Michael Löwy, in our study we have identified relationships of ‘elective affinity’ between figures who might appear different and dissimilar, at least at first glance: the Bolshevik Alexandra Kollontai, the German communist Paul Mattick, the Italian Socialist Raniero Panzieri and the French social scientist Alain Bihr. After providing some biographical information, we analyze their respective paths to a socialism based on, and achieved through, self-organization and self-government.We do not intend to build a new tradition with this review of thinkers, most of whom were also political militants; rather, more modestly, we hope to suggest a path forward for both research and political activism. In order to show how significant the questions raised by these four intellectuals-militants still are even today, in the Conclusions we analyze the social and political experiment carried out by the Movement for a Democratic Society of the Rojava region in Syrian Kurdistan.

Abstract:
The article reviews the historical dynamics of the conceptualization of human beauty in feminist thought throughout the 20th century. The article proposes a comparative and critical analysis of the texts, which represent certain stages and the characteristic modes of feminist theory in the most concentrated form. The author selected from the first wave of feminism Alexandra Kollontai, who also represents the Marxist theory; from the second wave, Simone dе Beauvoir, who plays a key role in the development of feminism; and from the third wave, Naomi Wolf, who draws attention to the human beauty for both research and revolutionary “ideological” perspective. It is argued that the trend of such research attention of the feminist approach shows that it is becoming more and more concentrated on the moment of the concept, which is reduced only to the function of human beauty in social life. Therefore, the sensuous experience of human beauty is limited exclusively to the subjective and false perception, which, in fact, brings about the losing its own truth.

The article is written in the form of an essay. It examines what value for the course of the Great Patriotic War of 1941‑1945, in particular for the defense of Leningrad, had neutral-restrained position of Mannerheim and Finland as a state, expressed in relative distancing from Nazi Germany: non-participation in the storming and bombing of Leningrad, refusal to provide the German army the territory of Finland for hitting the city, to block the "Road of Life" on the lake Ladoga. It is shown that this position was largely the result of the diplomatic efforts of the Soviet Ambassador to Sweden, Alexandra Kollontai, who had a special friendly relationship with Mannerheim. In the course of the argument, along with the analysis of objective and literarily documented facts, the author also relies on personal evidence rooted in the biography of his grandfather, the famous academician P.P. Maslov. The article uses a concrete example to show how personal positions and interpersonal relationships, subject to their own logic, become important elements of historically significant factors.

Abstract:
The article examines the cultural projects of the new personality presented in the national culture of the Silver age and the Soviet culture of the first post-revolutionary decade. The analysis of the concept of a new person is given through feminine stereotypes, which in the culture at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries had ontological significance. The author focuses on the transformation of strategies of behavior expected from women, which were in demand in the culture of Russian symbolism and Soviet culture of the early twentieth century. The article identifies the main feminine images that have developed in Russian culture, and also presents the evolution and formation of new feminine stereotypes based on the analysis of theoretical texts and socio-cultural practices of poets and public figures at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries. In the course of the research, the genesis and evolution of feminine stereotypes in symbolist projects were comprehended, and the feminine images presented in the life-creation of Z. Gippius were analyzed. The main trends in the synthesis and removal of binary oppositions of masculine and feminine principles, as well as the ideas on the ambiguity and uncertainty of images of femininity are noted. The author focuses on the life-creation of Z. Gippius, who created original and popular in the future in the history of culture feminine stereotypes. When referring to the soviet period, the author notes the features of continuity and new trends in the formation of female stereotypes associated with ideological attitudes and the need to create new cultural patterns. Referring to the theoretical works and life-making of A. Kollontai, the author emphasizes the genetic connection of feminine stereotypes created in the culture of symbolism with the new concept of women of the Soviet period, and also notes the new attitudes of revolutionaries associated with the cult of collectivism and the need to return the binary oppositions of the feminine and masculine in culture, represented at a new level.

Abstract:
The paper is dedicated to the famous Russian Latin Americanist Vera Nikolaevna Kuteishchikova (1919–2012), who became the second Russian woman after A. Kollontai to be awarded with the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle for her merits in the study of Mexican literature. However, V. Kuteishchikova’s specialization was not limited to the Mexican literature; her academic interests included a wide range of issues. The paper demonstrates that she laid the foundations for the scientific study of Latin American literature in Russia and outlined the ways for further research in the field. Therefore, V. Kuteishchikova’s life and work are considered in an inseparable context with the development of Latin American literary studies in Russia. The list of the Russian editions and translations of Latin American writers and the number of critical works published before the 1960s clearly confirm the fact that until then Latin American literary studies did not exist as an independent branch of philological science in Russia, since Russian scholars had a very vague notion of the Latin American literature. The first research work in philology on the Latin American literature was the monograph by V.N. Kuteishchikova Latin American Novel in the XX century (1964). The paper pays special attention to this significant work. An analysis of this book proves that its author identified and revealed a number of essential topics and problems that would be center of Latin American studies in Russia. With an amazing sagacity V.N. Kuteishchikova mapped out a program for Latin American studies for half a century ahead. These ideas were developed in her work in 1970s, in particular, in New Latin American Novel (1976), co-written with her husband, L.S. Ospovat. The paper traces the participation of V.N. Kuteishchikova in the creation of the academic five-volume History of Latin American Literatures; analyzes her last book Moscow – Mexico – Moscow. A Lifelong Road (2000), gives a spiritual portrait of the Russian scholar.

Abstract:
Abstract: Autobiography can be thought of as, among other things, a speech of defence. The Estonian-Finnish author Hella Wuolijoki started writing her autobiography in prison and it very much reads as a legitimization of her political life choices. The article investigates how Wuolijoki depicts her own politicization, and how she plays with different author names in order to destabilize a taken-for-granted author position. The material used is her three part autobiography/memoirs, in which she explicitly declares that she is less interested in the facts of her life, but rather wants to keep them in their original memory-form. This gives her the freedom to recount events she deems important for her self-formation, rather than events or general interest. Feminist and autobiographical theory is used as a tool to investigate how dislodging the authorial position can open new ways of emphasising a woman’s political development. Thus, the literary formation of a political and feminist persona can be studied through her works. In this article I relate Wuolijoki’s writing to a way of theorizing the position of the political woman that could be found in Alexandra Kollontai’s pamphlet on the socialist New Woman written in 1918. The article analyses how Wuolijoki legitimizes her political activities by recounting her life as always intricately connected to contemporary political events. The article shows that political autobiography is a concept that can open new perspectives on women’s life writing and that the construction of an autobiographical persona that combines the concepts of woman and political may rely, as in this case, on types or models found in literature rather than life.

Abstract:
The emergence and development of Marxist feminism in Russia and in the world in general is considered in article on the basis of the analysis of primary sources. The problem of position of women attracted a keen interest of representatives of the most different sociological schools in Russia during its formation. The Marxist feminism was the separate significant direction in the Russian sociological thought. It developed as the special theoretical project and also it had bright experience of implementation. Among representatives of the Russian Marxist sociology names of V.I. Lenin, N.K. Krupskaya, A.M. Kollontay which made a big contribution to development of this direction are known. The feminism of the Marxist direction made breakthrough in the theory and implementation of the ideas. In a year of the two- hundredth anniversary since the birth of K. Marx numerous scientific conferences bring up the questions of social development which were occurring in Russia and caused considerable changes of social life again. The Marxist feminism was one of such significant events in the history of the country and in the history of domestic sociology. Now results and consequences of activity of supporters of the Russian Marxist feminism are reinterpreted. During the XX century their main ideas and achievements were exposed to criticism not only in the Russian, but also in foreign sociology. At the same time the author notes that the Marxist feminism develops and now on the basis of the general idea that the gender relations are parallel to class, interact with them and in a sense are their integral part. In modern sociology various directions within socialist feminism were created.

Abstract:
The period of the first half of the nineteenth century is characterized by a significant number of the pedagogical education projects development, which can be divided into two main groups: the author’s (M. Demkov, V. Ivanovsky, G. Kollontay, M. Pirogov, М. Troitsky, K. Ushinsky, T.Chacky, etc.) and official (authorized by the Ministry of Public Education). Among them are the projects of Pedagogical Institute in the "Prior Rules of Public Education" (1803), the General Regulations of the Russian Imperial Universities in 1804 and 1835, the Pedagogical Courses Principles (1860, 1865); the draft of the Teaching Institute Regulations (1862) and a number of others. It`s considered that author's approaches significantly influenced the content of the official group and even served as their basis. The analysis of the projects content is allowed to group them into two divisions. The first is the projects of educational institutions for the primary school teachers training (teachers' seminary, teacher's institutes), and the second one is educational institutions for the secondary school teachers training (pedagogical faculties, pedagogical institutes, pedagogical courses, pedagogical seminaries). At the same time, the first projects were planned as an independent, exclusively closed educational institutions of the residential type. Their curricula had to provide the detailed learning of the primary schools disciplines and the teaching methods. A compulsory condition for the existence of the second group was their opening on the basis of universities, which according to the authors of the projects had to provide a broad compulsory education and special training for advanced teaching. The dominant for university teaching institutions was the viewpoint of their open type, which is slightly allowed to reduce the cost of teacher training, providing teacher applicants with scholarships rather than complete public funds. The common requirement for both types of projects was the requirement for compulsory in-depth pedagogical training, which, as a rule, reflected the need to follow the principle of theoretical pedagogical courses unity (pedagogy, didactics, knowledge about upbringing, history of pedagogical currents, etc.) and pedagogical training.Thereby the pedagogical institute on this basis was opened in the structure of the University of St. Volodymyr in Kyiv in 1834. Having passed the difficult historical path, today is known in the world educational space by a large-scale innovative activity as National Pedagogical Dragomanov University, it is still the custodian of the university pedagogical institute idea of the 1830s, traditions of teacher training.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The article deals with the contruction of the conception of romantic love in the productions of the Polish film director Kieslowski. Erik Svendsen discusses the idea of romantic love as a silent criticism of the authoritarian regimes in Eastern Europe and points out, too, the similarities to the Communist interpretation of love as it was perceived and proclaimed by Alexandra Kollontay. The heritage of Kieslowski is the cultural heritage of both Communism and Catholicism in Poland.
