Abstract:
The object of study in this article is the analysis of what relations can be established by the colon in written French. The article is the outcome of our cand.ling.merc. thesis from June 1997. Our aim was then to examine how these relations can be expressed in written Danish and whether the colon can be preserved or not. In cases where these relations are not usually signalled by the Danish colon, we will examine what operations are necessary in order to render the meaning in idiomatic Danish. In this article we would like to give a brief account of our findings.

Abstract:
Korean fashion firms face difficulties in sustaining their growth momentum because of market stagnation and the aggressive entry of global luxury and SPA brands. To find a breakthrough, local fashion firms are adopting diverse strategies, including direct entry, licensing, and acquisitions, to successfully tap into the global market. Kolon FnC, which is among the five affiliates of Kolon Industries, focuses its business in the production and sales of fashion goods and clothing lines. Focusing on its strength as a leading brand power in the sports and outdoor segment, Kolon FnC is making strategic moves, such as diversifying its fashion portfolio, creating new value by collaborating with artists, and enhancing its R&D capability for new garment materials, which is led by one of its sister affiliates, Kolon Fashion Material. Under the leadership of the newly appointed CEO Dong-Mun Park, Kolon FnC is aggressively seeking talented young designers in Korea to differentiate itself from its global competitors. CEO Park strongly believes that talented young Korean designers can be a viable source of competitive advantage against global competitors. Since 2010, Kolon FnC has acquired several small-sized designer shops and fashion accessory shops to diversify its fashion portfolio and to create a young and vibrant brand image. This approach marks a departure from the strategic paths of its major local competitors, as Korean fashion firms typically focus on licensing or acquiring foreign brands. This case aims to identify the practical implications of global expansion strategies by analyzing how the Korean fashion industry has evolved and how Kolon FnC and its competitors have deployed different global expansion strategies in developing their resources and/or capabilities for future growth.

Abstract:
In this paper we report the results of pilot tests of flocculation/precipitation setup for dust-suppressor (DS) and transuranic elements (TUE) removal from wastewaters of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP), including those of the Object “Shelter”. Tests were performed on the pilot unit (PU), which included service tank, precipitation tank, and accumulation tank, 300 dm3 each, connected with pipelines with dosing and pumping equipment, and throttle valves providing controlled dosing, mixing, precipitation and mechanical filtration of radioactive wastewaters under different conditions. The reagent compositions used in pilot tests were based on coagulant POLYPACS-30 LF (aluminum polyoxychloride), synthetic cationic flocculants Besfloc K6634, K510CA, K6732 («Kolon Life Science, Inc», South Korea) varying in molecular weight and charge density, and natural cationic flocculant «Chitofloc» (Institute of Chemistry FEBRAS, Russia). The following wastewater parameters were controlled during the pilot tests: pH, dry residue, oxygen consumption, total α- and β-activity, isotope composition, optical density and DS content. The precipitation setup demonstrated lower efficiency DS removal from evaporator concentrates due to high ionic strength suppressing the electrostatic interactions between coagulants/flocculants and oppositely charged colloids of DS and TUE. The residual DS concentration was below 1 mg/L that corresponds to decontamination factor above 300 for the drainage water samples tested. The chitosan-based “Chitofloc” flocculant appeared to be the reagent which was the least sensitive to negative effect of ionic strength; however, the decontamination factor in DS removal was not higher than 5 due to suppressing of electrostatic interactions in high salinity media. Analysis of α-activity of water samples after flocculation/mechanical filtration revealed that TUE were not detected in the drainage water samples with DS content reduced to 2 mg/L that corresponds to TRU decontamination factor above 10000 and confirms immobilization of TUE in DS precipitate.

Abstract:
This study attempts to clarify the tense systems in Madang Province, Papua New Guinea; particularly, the past tense and habitual past forms in the sample three languages in the area: Amele, Waskia, and Kobon. This study thus investigates past tense and habitual features, and discusses how the people in the area interpret past events. The study then discusses how these people map their temporal frames in their grammars (“anthropology of time”, Gell 1996). To aid analysis, I collected data through observing descriptive grammars and fieldwork, finding that Amele exhibits three types of past tense and habitual tense forms, as in (1). Kobon has two distinct simple and remote past tenses, as in (2). Kobon has habitual aspect with the help of the verb “to be.” Waskia, in contrast, has a distinction between realis and irrealis meanings, and the realis forms can indicate past and habitual meanings (two habitual forms: one is include in realis, another is with the help of the verb “stay”), as shown in (3). (1) Amele: Today’s past: Ija hu-ga. “I came (today).” Yesterday’s past: Ija hu-gan. “I came (yesterday).” Remote past: Ija ho-om. “I came (before yesterday).” Habitual past (by adding the habitual form “l”): Ija ho-lig. “I used to come.” (2) Kobon (Davies 1989): Simple past: Yad au-ɨn. “I have come.” Remote past: Nöŋ-be. “You saw” Habitual aspect (by using the verb “mid” to be): Yad nel nipe pu-mid-in. “I used to break his firewood.” (3) Waskia (Ross and Paol 1978): Realis: Ane ikelako yu naem. “I drank some water yesterday.” (simple past) Realis: Ane girako yu no-kisam “In the past I used to drink water” (habitual past) Habitual (by using the verb “bager“ (stay)): Ane girako yu nala bager-em. “In the past I used to drink water.“ Finally, this study claims that Amele and Kobon have remoteness distinctions; near and remote past distinctions, but there is no such a distinction in Waskia. The observed habitual usages are different to each other. Nevertheless, the three languages have a grammatical viewpoint of habitual past mapping.
