Abstract:
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This article examines how the ethnoreligious immigrant organization Danish People’s Society utilized ethnic colonies as spatial mediums to promote and foster preservation of the Danish cultural and spiritual heritage in the USA. Informed by theoretical insights gained in the research fields of medium theory and human geography, I highlight place-naming and physical construction of the places as symbolic and material strategies employed by Danish People’s Society to establish the colonies as mediums. Based on the historical development of the colonies, the article argues that place-naming matters; place-naming may function as a powerful political and socially excluding act. In conclusion, I suggest that a more comprehensive understanding of the meaning, agency, and implications of spatial mediums requires that we approach these places as social, symbolic, and material constructions that are continually reconfigured and ascribed identity through interaction. DANSK RESUMÉ: Med udgangspunkt i to tidligere dansk-amerikanske kolonier undersøger denne artikel, hvorledes den etnoreligiøse immigrantorganisation Dansk Folkesamfund benyttede sig af etniske kolonier som spatiale medier til at facilitere og generere dansk folkeoplysning og kulturarvsbevaring i USA. Ved brug af teoretiske indsigter fra forskningsfelterne ‘medium theory’ og humangeografi fremhæver jeg navngivning og fysisk bebyggelse af steder som en henholdsvis symbolsk og materiel strategi, hvormed Dansk Folkesamfund etablerede kolonierne som medier. Baseret på stedernes historiske udvikling argumenterer jeg, at navngivningen af fysiske steder bør tages seriøst; stednavngivning kan være en magtful politisk og socialt ekskluderende handling. På denne baggrund konkluderes det, at vi for at få en mere fyldestgørende forståelse af den betydning og agens samt de implikationer, spatiale medier kan have, må tilgå dem som både symbolske, sociale og materielle konstruktioner, der kontinuerligt rekonfigureres og tilskrives identitet gennem interaktion.

Holland var i 1600- og 1700-tallet et nordeuropæisk centrum for handelen med varer fra de oversøiske kolonier, og mange jyske købmænd fik varer direkte fra Holland via havnene på den sydvestjyske kyst. Toldregnskaberne fra 1700-tallet er en glimrende kilde til visse aspekter af denne handel, mens andre spørgsmål lades åbne. Her kan man i stedet hente hjælp i de sjældne personlige beretninger, der findes fra tiden. En af dem er den østjyske købmand Rasmus Toxens optegnelser, som i denne artikel tages som udgangspunkt for en skildring af kontakten mellem den jyske provins og et af verdenshandelens centre.

Abstract:
Z końcem XIX stulecia w szkołach w Galicji zaczęło się ożywione dążenie do polepszenie stanu higieny i zdrowia młodzieży. Większa troska o zdrowie i higienę szkolną zaowocowała podejmowaniem różnorodnych przedsięwzięć w tym zakresie. Jednym z nich stały się kolonie wakacyjne, organizowane w ośrodkach klimatyczno-wypoczynkowych dla uczniów, najpierw z dużych ośrodków miejskich, potem także z mniejszych, jak również ze środowisk wiejskich. Ich celem stało się „ratowanie zdrowia dzieci i młodzieży oraz „kształtowanie właściwego wychowania”, w tym również związanego z rozbudzaniem świadomości higienicznej wśród dzieci i młodzieży. Inicjatywy organizowania wypoczynku letniego dla uczniów w formie kolonii podejmowały między innymi czynniki społeczne. Jednym z nich było powstałe w na początku XX wieku Towarzystwo Kolonii Wakacyjnych dla młodzieży szkół średnich miasta Krakowa i Podgórza. Prowadziło ono kolonię w Porębie Wielkiej, gdzie podejmowano starania mające na celu poprawę kondycji zdrowotnej uczniów szkół średnich, jak również prowadzono pracę wychowawczą, także w obszarze edukacji higienicznej podopiecznych. Z Towarzystwem związani byli też wybitni lekarze, pionierzy wychowania fizycznego i higienicznego na ziemiach polskich, profesorowie Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego – Henryk Jordan i Stanisław Ciechanowski. Artykuł omawia problematykę organizacji kolonii w Porębie Wielkiej, prowadzonej wzorowo przez Towarzystwo Kolonii Wakacyjnych, w oparciu o nowe trendy i tendencje pedagogiczne ukierunkowane na troskę o zdrowie, higienę i wychowanie uczniów.

Bu çalışma Hellenistik dönem öncesi Bithynia Bölgesi'nde yaşayan Bithynialılar ile Hellen kolonileri arasındaki ilişkileri inceler. Geçen yirmi yıllık süreçte Karadeniz'da kurulan Hellen kolonileri ve bunların yerel unsurlarla olan ilişkileri özellikle arkeolojik kazılardan elde edilen verilerin de yardımıyla üzerinde çalışılan önemli konulardan biri olmuştur. Ancak Propontis'in doğusuna, yani kabaca Bithynia bölgesine bakıldığında buradaki erken dönem yerleşmeleri ve koloniler konusunda arkeolojik açıdan genel bir sessizlik hâkimdir. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada antik yazılı kaynaklar öncelikle değerlendirilmekte ve arkeolojik verilere bölgede tespit edilebildiği kadarıyla değinilmektedir. Böylece çalışmanın amaçlarından biri de arkeolojik verilerin yetersizliği nedeniyle Bithynia'daki erken dönem yerleşim yerleri ve Hellen kolonizasyonu ile bölgede birlikte yaşamaya başlayan Bithynialılar ve koloniler arasındaki ilişkiler konusundaki bilgilerimizin eksikliğine dikkat çekmektir. Çalışma iki ana kısma ayrılır. İlk bölüm Hellen kolonizasyonu öncesinde Bithynialılar'ın etnik kökenleri ve egemenlik alanları konusuna değinir. İkinci kısım ise Bithynia'da kurulan Hellen kolonileri ve kolonilerin Bithynialılar ile olan ilişkilerinin nasıl şekillendiğini inceler.

Elbląg przed drugą wojną światową był dużym miastem, z rozwiniętym przemysłem i społecznością o charakterze robotniczym . W XIX w. szybko rozwijała się dzielnica miasta Kolonią Pangritza, w której osiedlili się ubodzy przybysze z różnych stron państwa pruskiego. Kolonia przez dziesięciolecia pod względem ekonomicznym i rozwoju infrastruktury mocno odbiegała od reszty miasta. Kumulowały się też na tym terenie wszystkie niekorzystne procesy związane z XIX-wieczną klasą robotniczą tj. analfabetyzm, bezrobocie, społeczne wykluczenie, brak opieki socjalnej i medycznej a nade wszystko bieda materialna. Duże znaczenie dla rozwiązywania tych problemów miało przybycie do Kolonii Pangritza w 1887 r. Zgromadzenia Sióstr św. Katarzyny. Zakonnice do 1945 r. prowadziły w klasztorze niewielki szpital, opiekę ambulatoryjną, przedszkole oraz kursy dokształcające i szkołę gospodarstwa domowego dla kobiet. Posługa katarzynek miała duże znaczenie dla rozwoju w Elblągu nowoczesnej opieki socjalnej.

Udkantsdanmark toppede i medierne i 2010, men begrebet dominerer stadig. Tendensen til, at ’småt er godt’ er blevet til ’stort er velgjort’, blev forstærket af 2007-Kommunalreformen, der bidrog til ’udkantiseringen’ i mange storkommuner, herunder et ’moderne stavnsbånd’ – se blot de mange, permanente Til salg-skilte. Flest unge flytter til de større byer, hvilket til gengæld har skabt sammenklumpningsproblemer. Førhen var det nærmest omvendt. Andelsbevægelsen voksede sig stærk på landet, og kronen på værket var systemskiftet i 1901. Men hvordan opleves den indre grænse i dag af unge fra den såkaldte udkant? Mine interviews med 25 unge fraflyttere fra Lemvig Kommune viste, at Udkantsdanmark for dem ikke havde en negativ klang. De værdsatte de stærke lokalsamfund og den vestjyske mentalitet. Mange af dem boede i ’Lemvig-kolonier’ i de store byer. Mange overvejede at vende tilbage til Vestjylland, hvis det rette job skulle vise sig. Så måske er Udkantsdanmark ’æ så ringe endda’? Derfor vil jeg i denne artikel besvare disse spørgsmål på baggrund af en undersøgelse i Lemvig Kommune, jeg foretog i 2012. Datagrundlaget er telefoninterviews med 25 tilfældigt udvalgte unge fraflyttere fra Lemvig kommune i alderen 20-33 år. Heraf var 12 taget til Aarhus, København eller Aalborg for at studere.

Seit hundert Jahren wurde kaum etwas davon ausgestellt. Humboldt Forum, 2. Stock, Modul Schaudepot: Regale, auf denen dicht gepackt eine Anzahl ausgewählter Dinge stehen, golden beleuchtet und chronologisch nach Jahren ihres Erwerbs sortiert. Ein Raum weiter: die Kolonie Kamerun, ein Wald von hohen Architekturelementen aus Holz, montiert auf einem niedrigen, schwarzen Sockel, der großzügig den halben Raum einnimmt. Diese an die Spree gestrandete «Kolonie» mutet an wie das verlassene Set eines Sandalenfilms nach dem Dreh einer Kreuzigungsszene: Drei Meter hohe Balken, schlechtes Licht nach Feierabend, ein paar verlorene Menschen, die sich nach vorne gebückt etwas auf dem Sockel anschauen: Achtung, Kleingedrucktes!

Okres międzywojenny to epoka kolonializmu. Największe mocarstwa czerpały zyski z kolonii, a nowo powstałe po I wojnie światowej państwa miały aspiracje do ich posiadania. W tej rzeczywistości Polki, czytając artykuły prasowe, poddawane były promocji idei polskich kolonii. Dostarczano im artykuły rzeczowe, a także przedruki tekstów polskich i zagranicznych odkrywców. Jednocześnie polskie podróżniczki, które odwiedzały kolonie w Afryce, jak Janina Olszewska, Romana Rezlerowa, Maria Olga Tchórznicka czy autorka pod pseudonimem N.Z., zdawały relacje podkreślające korzyści płynące dla lokalnej ludności wynikające z władzy europejskiego mocarstwa. Poza tym skupiały się na roli kobiety w afrykańskim społeczeństwie. W ten sposób artykuły były zarówno metodą kreowania społecznego poparcia dla idei polskich kolonii, jak i pokazywały jej działanie przez wpływ na postrzeganie afrykańskiej rzeczywistości wśród podróżujących Polek.

Abstract:
Handel och dess konsekvenser för samhället är ett omdiskuterat ämne inom såväl den ekonomiska forskningen som inom den politiska debatten. Diskussionen utgörs av starka motsättningar och bristen på konsensus riskerar att leda till felaktiga politiska beslut. Alltfler handelsavtal implementeras och utvecklingsländers roll på den globala marknaden blir allt större. Det är således av ökad betydelse att utreda handelns faktiska konsekvenser. Syftet med denna studie är därför att analysera hur handel påverkar den ekonomiska ojämlikheten i utvecklingsländer. Studien utgår från hypotesen att en ökad handel leder till en minskad ekonomisk ojämlikhet vilket är i enlighet med klassisk nationalekonomisk teori. Studien utfördes genom en ekonometrisk analys där en paneldataregression på 41 länder över 23 år skattades. Gini-index användes som beroendevariabel, medan handelsflöde samt sju kontrollvariabler utgjorde förklarande variabler. För att minska risken för heterogenitet i urvalet begränsades de studerade länderna i huvudsak till forna europeiska kolonier med kust. Resultatet från studien indikerar att en ökad handel leder till en minskad ekonomisk ojämlikhet. Resultatet bör dock beaktas med försiktighet med anledning av statistiskt icke-signifikanta effekter. Studien finner dessutom att förekomst av korruption är av betydelse när sambandet mellan handel och ekonomisk ojämlikhet undersöks.
The impacts of trade on the society are a common subject of debate, both in the research field of economics and in the political debate. The lack of consensus poses a risk in political decision-making. New trade agreements are being implemented while the role of developing countries is growing on the global market. Hence, there is an increasing importance of examining the actual impacts of trade. This study, therefore, analyses the impact of trade on the economic inequality in developing countries. This study hypothesizes that trade decreases inequality, which is in accordance with classical economic theory. Using a panel data regression on 41 countries over 23 years, this study examines how Gini index interacts as the dependent variable with trade flow and seven control variables. The countries studied are mainly limited to former European colonies with coastal lines to reduce the risk of heterogeneity within the sample. This study finds that trade reduces inequality, although the result should be interpreted with care due to statistically insignificant effects. This study also finds that presence of corruption is of importance when the relationship between trade and inequality is examined.

Kolonisationen har format många länder, men i vilken utsträckning? Detta är ett aktuellt ämne eftersom kolonialism fortfarande finns idag. I den här uppsatsen undersöks därför kolonisationens påverkan på ekonomisk utveckling. Med hjälp av tvärsnittsdata och OLS-regressioner visar resultatet att brittiska kolonier i världen, relativt franska kolonier, i genomsnitt haft högre BNP per capita år 2000 och att detta tycks bero på skillnader i humankapital, demokrati och institutioner. Däremot kan inget kausalt samband med säkerhet påvisas. Samtidigt hittas inga skillnader i inkomstnivå mellan kolonier i Afrika, men ett signifikant resultat konstateras för att de franska kolonierna i Afrika haft lägre tillväxt 2000-2010

This paper aims to research how swedish and british literature visualise the decolonization of british colonies after the second world war. With the use of a qualitative research paradigm and a theoretical framework based on postcolonialism the study has found that several differences between the portrayal of decolonization have been highlighted. The main differences the study has found adhere towards the portrayal of African colonies. Furthermore, how information has been portportaryed and by whom is also a key difference between the literatures. Lastly, with the use of both swedish and british literature the study has identified a possible education plan covering decolonization and democratization.

First part of the thesis is about literature research of optimization algorithms. Three of the algorithms were implemented and tested, concretely the ant colony algorithm, tabu search and simulated annealing. All three algorithms were implemented to solve the traveling salesman problem. In second part of the thesis the algorithms were tested and compared. In last part the influence of the ant colony parameters was evaluated.

Abstract:
This construction programme deals with a hermit colony located in the western part of the Vysočina Region. This hermit colony has been established to provide accommodation for women living in this area permanently while offering an opportunity of occasional relaxation for people who are living hectic lives in urban environment. The aim of my project is to design the remaining parts of the colony, i.e. two hermitages and the community’s chapel. A hermitage is a one-storey building intended for one person only. The load-bearing walls of the individual hermitages are designed to be built from different materials (wooden and masonry constructions) whereas the elevational structures of all the buildings are to be the same. The chapel’s wall system combines stone and wood. The chapel will serve solely the purposes of the community. The main objective of my project is to respect and maintain the natural features of the landscape to the maximum extent possible.

Darbe nagrinėjamos skruzdžių kolonijų technologijos vaizdams apdoroti. Pasiūlomos max-min skruzdžių sistemos modifikacijos tinkamos automatizuoti pirminį vaizdų apdorojimą. Pristatoma vaizdų segmentavimo metodika grįsta skruzdžių kolonijų varžymusi feromono pagalba. Nagrinėjama, įgyvendintos LPLM įrenginyje, modifikuotos skruzdžių sistemos sparta ir MicroBlaze modulių įtaka spartai.
In this work ant colony technologies for image processing are analyzed. Modifications of Max-Min ant system for automatic image pre-processing are proposed. Image segmentation by multiple ant colonies technique based on pheromone competition is proposed. Modified ant system is implemented in FPGA and MicroBlaze core units influence on performance is analyzed.

Abstract:
The content of the thesis is a description of intracellular processes responsible for cell cycle regulation and reactions of cells to external and internal stimuli. Thoroughly described are important signaling pathways with appropriate methods, which can be used to simulate them in silico. From these cellular processes, a cell cycle model is created and implemented in a tool programmed in C ++ with OpenGL used for visualization. The model is then tested for various cell processes including HeLa cells growth. Finally, the results are compared with the behavior of living cells.

Abstract:
Das heutige Namibia befand sich zwischen den Jahren 1884 und 1915 unter deutscher Herrschaft. Mit der Gründung der Kolonie entstand u. a. der Bedarf an effizienter Kommunikationsvermittlung zwischen den Deutschen und der Lokalbevölkerung. Die ersten Bestrebungen der Kolonialverwaltung, den Deutschen sowie den Einheimischen entsprechende Sprachkenntnisse beizubringen oder eine Lingua franca einzuführen, scheiterten aus kulturellen, finanziellen sowie zeitlichen Gründen. In vielen Fällen musste die Kommunikation deswegen indirekt verlaufen, und zwar mithilfe eines Dolmetschers, dessen Einsatz sich vor allem in den Bereichen Justiz, Religion sowie Di-plomatie als unvermeidlich erwies. Der Artikel beschäftigt sich mit dem Ablauf der interkulturellen Kommunikation zwischen den Deutschen und der Lokalbevölkerung in der ehemaligen Kolonie Deutsch-Südwestafrika, wobei in Hinblick auf den Forschungsgegenstand vor allem die Frage nach der Rolle der damaligen Dolmetscher, ihren Arbeitsbedingungen sowie ihrem Sozialstatus gestellt wird.

Abstract:
Streptomyces memiliki potensi sebagai sumber metabolit antibakteri yang dapat dikembangkan dan diaplikasikan dalam pengembangan budidaya cacing nipah. Streptomyces memiliki karakter morfologi kultur yang berbeda-beda di beberapa medium agar dan merupakan aspek yang sangat penting dalam proses identifikasi dan klasifikasinya. Streptomyces spp. telah diisolasi dari substrat alami habitat cacing nipah (Namalycastis rhodochorde) di Sungai Kakap Kabupaten Kubu Raya sebanyak enam isolat (NrASA1 – NrASA6) dan telah berhasil dimurnikan untuk dilakukan karakterisasi morfologi koloninya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi variasi koloni Streptomyces sehingga diketahui variasi koloni dari genus yang sama pada medium yang berbeda. Karakterisasi dilakukan dengan metode pengamatan langsung terhadap koloni Streptomyces yang dikultur secara kuadran pada medium agar glycerol asparagine (GAA), inorganic salt starch (ISSA), oatmeal (OA), dan starch casein (SCA). Hasil karakterisasi tujuh isolat Streptomyces spp. yang dikultur pada empat medium agar berbeda memperlihatkan bahwa persamaan karakter terlihat dari warna spora matang yang 100% berwarna coklat, interval diameter koloni antara 3 – 8 cm, tekstur bersifat cottony. Perbedaan karakter terlihat dari presensi diffusible pigment yang hanya ada pada koloni isolat NrASA1 dan NrASA3 pada medium GAA dan SCA, sedangkan presensi eksudat berwarna coklat tua hanya terjadi pada medium ISSA. Enam isolat Streptomyces diduga memiliki epitet spesies yang berbeda, khususnya antara NrASA1 dan NrASA3 terhadap kode isolat lainnya.
