This thesis introduces sociolinguistic phenomenon called street compliment, that has not been studied much in Czech Republic. It is a form of a comment given in public places by unacquainted persons, most commonly by men to women but not exclusively. Based in the feminist tradition the research was realized as a set of semi-structured interviews with eight female participants. The research revealed how the participants understand the phenomenon and how the heteronormative configuration of society is being perpetuated. The interpretation of street compliment as a form of a compliment is based on the discourse of female atractiveness and a strong sexual drive at males. The street compliment can be used to express sexual interest, to perform masculinity or to perform identity overall. The street compliment as a display of masculine behaviour towards a legitimate target, that is to say attractive woman, refers to the use of street compliment as a mean of disciplination of female subjects. The participants agreed that they do not utter street compliments because of its convenience. Instead they would express their interest in a group of friends without exteriorizing it. The thesis focuses on Aristotelian-Thomist ethics system. In mainly deals with the differences in concept of beatitude, good and related issues, like the science of virtues. The emphasis is placed on understanding and covering the differences in aproach of St. Thomas Aquinas and Aristotele to these ethical topics. Firs the thesis characterises the main issue in Nicomachean Ethics, then outlines the thoughts and ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas in his Commentary, with emphasis on its diference from Aristoteles teachings. First three chapters are therefore the more descriptive part of the thesis, which is based on both primary and secondary textual sources. The fourth chapter is, then, the crucial, practical part, that summarizes St. Thomas theses and ideas concerning beatitude, good and happiness, coming from his unrivaled Commentary on the Ethics.

Pomyslným středem této diplomové práce je překlad jednoho z textů sbírky starověkých řeckých lékařských pojednání Corpus hippocraticum. Jde o nevelký traktát De arte, který jsem se pokusil zpřístupnit českému čtenáři pod názvem O umění. Všechny ostatní části diplomové práce, tj. literárně-historický úvod, komentář a závěrečné shrnutí, představ~jí v jistém smyslu už jen vysvětlující odpověď na otázku, proč si téměř dva a půl tisíce let starý spis zasluhuje naši pozornost. Mým prvořadým záměrem bylo ukázat dané pojednání jako mimořádný doklad významné role, kterou hrál v řeckých duchovních dějinách na přelomu pátého a čtvrtého století pojem 'tÉXVll. Pokusíme se nastínit podstatný filosofický rozměr, který v této epoše 'tÉXVll připadal a stojí i v pozadí myšlenkové stavby našeho spisu. Protože však techné zároveň překračuje hranice filosofie, pokud ji budeme brát pouze jako jeden z mnoha oborů lidské činnosti, otevře nám naše zkoumání průhled k řeckému pojetí vědění vůbec, ze kterého evropské chápání filosofie \yrůstá. Jako text tematizující vědění samotné lze De arte považovat rovněž za významný dokument pro dějiny vědy. The main aim of this diploma thesis is to bring to Czech readers an appropriate translation of selected passages from Dialogus Ciceronianus sive de optimo genere dicendi by Erasmus of Rotterdam. By this work, Erasmus significantly afftected the history of disputes over the form of imitation of M. Tullius Cicero, which started among humanists at the end of the 15th century and continued, with varying intensity, for a hundred following years. Erasmus rejected pedantic imitation of formal features of Cicero's language which he considered a threat for Christian religion and education. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and a practical one. The theoretical part briefly describes the development of opinions on the imitation of Cicero from the ancient times to the 16th century and deals with the analysis of the contents of the dialogue as a whole with an emphasis on stating the most important Erasmus' ideas. The second part comprises of a translation of selected passages accompanied by factual and translatological notes.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to offer a comprehensive commentary of Patočka's unpublished lectures on Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit, which he gave at the Charles University during the summer semester of 1949. These lectures remain unfinished and the exposition of the Phenomenology of Spirit ends before the chapter on morality. Patočka is influenced, to a considerable degree, by the unorthodox reading of Hegel that Kojéve presents in his Inroduction à la lecture de Hegel (1947) and also by a somewhat more conservative commentary by Jean Hyppolite, published in 1946 under the title Genese et structure de la Phénoménologie de l'esprit de Hegel. This thesis follows their influence on Patočka's commentary, in an attempt to discover Patočka's own interpretative stance. Patočka places the Phenomenology of Spirit into a wide context and tries to illustrate its genesis. Following Kojéve, Patočka's interpretation remains nested within an anthropological perspective, considering the master-slave dialectic to be the centerpiece of Hegel's philosophy.

The present study consists of two main parts, namely translation and commentary of the philosophical-mystical recital ajj ibn Jaqn (The Living, Son of the Vigilant). The author is a significant philosopher of the Islamic East Ibn Sn (980-1037), whose biography is a part of this study. Although this treatise is not his most famous work, it belongs for its strong narrative aspects, aesthetic values and depth of the symbolism to brilliant writings of classical Arabic literature. The commentary is divided into chapters that correspond to the themes contained in the treatise. The main motive represents the journey of human intellect, who is guided by the Active intellect personified in the figure of The Living, son of the Vigilant towards a higher knowledge. Once the rational soul has realized its angelic potential sets on an intelectual journey into the world of the separated forms, which is finally crowned with a vision of God. Ibn Sn presents through this symbolic story central elements of his teachings, namely the theory of intellect, psychology and epistemology, the theory of matter and form, cosmology, emanation theory, angelology ant theology. V této práci jsme analyzovali teoretické předpoklady, strategie a formální výstavbu Guo Xiangova komentáře k Vnitřním kapitolám díla Zhuangzi, přičemž jsme vyšli z dějin žánru komentáře, jak se vyvíjel v době dynastie Han a ve 3. stol. n. I. Klíčovým byl zejména výklad o Wang Biho komentáři k dílu Laozi, který s Guo Xiangovým komentářem sdílí základní teoretické předpoklady i strategie komentování. Mezi tyto předpoklady a strategie patří zejména přesvědčení o osobnostní nadřazenosti Konfucia nad Laoziem/Zhuangziem, vyvážené přesvědčením o diskurzivní nadřazenosti děl Laozi a Zhuangzi nad díly Světce. Oba komentáře rovněž sdílejí základní strategii komentování, jejíž podstatou je vytváření odkazů na další místa textu (v případě Wang Biho je tento přístup systematičtější). Oba komentátoři dále text významově sjednocují prostřednictvím výkladu různých pasáží komentovaného textu pomocí totožných termínů a idejí.

Základním cíle této práce však bylo popsat dosud málo a fragmentárně zpracovanou problematiku narativního budování Jergovićových próz. Z naší analýzy vyplývá, že autor ve svých dílech užívá neobvykle bohatý rejstřík vyprávěcích způsobů, dokonce tak bohatý, že některé jím užívané postupy zatím v odborné literatuře ani podrobně popsány ještě nebyly (zde mám na mysli především neobvyklou formu vyprávění ve 2. osobě, tedy cosi jako du-formu, a také mimořádně komplikované přechody mezi partem vypravěče a partem postav bez jakéhokoliv grafického značení). Ovšem tyto a mnohé další narativní metody nejsou užity samoúčelně. Tvoří samu základní strukturu vyprávění, které je ve svém celku tak kompaktní, že tato značně komplikovaná rovina vyprávění nebyla ani některými kritiky zaznamenána, takže byli schopni psát o "tradičním" či "staromódním" vyprávění. K této zdánlivé (povrchové) jednoduchosti v nemalé míře přispívá i autorův lehký vyprávěcí styl, kdy na rovině jazyka užívá nezřídka imitace běžně mluvené řeči. Kombinace složité narativní struktury a přehledné dějové linie sjednocená na rovině slohové do jasného vyprávěcího stylu dodává Jergovićovým prózám osobitou dynamiku a čtenářskou přitažlivost.

Cílem této diplomové práce je představit českému čtenáři zvláštní a poměrně neznámý spis slavného pozdně antického řečníka Ailia Aristeida - Hieroi Logoi. Toto dílo nabízí netradiční pohled na antické náboženství, zprostředkovaný jeho vzdělaným a oddaným stoupencem. Svým obsahem a stylem je to jakási osobní zpověď antického věřícího člověka, jejíž zajímavost spočívá především v tom, že žádné podobné dílo z řeckého pohanského světa dochováno nemáme. Autor nám zanechal svědectví nejen o svém vlastním prožívání vztahu k bohům, ale též podrobně pojednal o praktikách jednoho z nejpopulárnějších pozdně antických náboženských kultů - kultu boha Asklépia. Právě velmi osobní styl výpovědi činí toto dílo pozoruhodným a mnozí historikové řeckého náboženství ho ve svých knihách alespoň stručně zmiňují. Osobní styl výpovědi a líčení nejrůznějších životních starostí, pocitů, událostí, setkání apod. činí z Hieroi Logoi téměř moderní autobiografii, rozhodně však historicky první osobní snář v antické (a evropské) literatuře. Je zde rovněž mnoho materiálu, který může sloužit psychologům k rozboru osobnosti autora, a i z tohoto hlediska je dílo unikátní. Tím, že ukazuje, jakými způsoby profánní i chrámoví lékaři reagovali na evidentní psychické poruchy autora, je dílo pozoruhodné též pro historiky psychologie. Hieroi Logoi...

In the end of the 5th century B.C., the Andokides' speech On the mysteries represents an interesting source of information. It focuses on the processes with impious criminals who mutilated herms and profaned Eleusinian mysteries in 415 B.C., and the revision of Athenian laws in 403 B.C. This thesis attempts to present this speech in historical context, to evaluate critically its credibility, and to point out general problems concerning the use of the corpus of the Attic orators as a source of information regarding political and legal history. Thus the centre of the thesis lies in the commentary attached to a completely new Czech translation of Andokides' speech.

Lysias' speech Against Eratosthenes is the most famous speech of Lysias, Athen's most prolific author of lawcourt speeches. It deals with a murder of Lysias' brother Polemarchus, who was arrested and executed under the rule of so-called "Thirty Tyrants" in 404 B. C. And yet the topics covered are much wider, the speech thereby becoming a portrayal of the darkest times athenian democracy ever witnessed and a valuable document of democratic point of view on the events. The speech is commented from a historical point of view, focusing in the first place on political history and history of law.

Main goal of this work is to mediate an approach for czech reader to almost forgotten philosophy of Johann Gottfried von Herder, who published his books in the 18. century. This student of I. Kant is absolutely someone, who should not be eliminated from a group of authors who determined enlightement thinking. It is not just coincidence that Goethe himself called Herder as Brother Humanus. The exact term of humanity is rightful goal of my interpretation. Why? Because humanity is a fundamental basic term of whole Herder's philosophy. This work claims to analyze two main works of this philosopher, Essay on the origin of language and The Evolution of Humanity, which is the czech translate of his Ideas for the philosophy of humanity. And we will analyze this two texts in a way, which shall show us the interconnections between them. The we will move into synthetic chapter called Herder's concept of humanity. There I will put the previous interpretation into confrontation with more of Herder's books and I will show what humanity means to Herder and why is it so central term for his whole philosophy. Rukopis je psaný italsky a na vloženém listu je věnování Františku Antonínu Berkovi z Dubé. Toto rukopisné dílko pojednává o historii a památkách města Padovy, což zřejmě souviselo s Berkovým zájmem o umění, navíc přináší řadu poznatků k historické topografii města. The treatise On the sacred disease is one of the oldest works included in the Hippocratic corpus and one of the finest examples of the Greek rationalism. Considered to be written in the last decades of the 5th century BC it is concerned with the issue of epilepsy, the disease called "sacred" by magicians and wandering cathartic priests that the author denotes as mere charlatans. According to him, epilepsy is no way more sacred nor more divine than other sicknesses, he places its origin into the brain and claims that it is a hereditary illness. In the introductory study, the character and the structure of the treatise are outlined, it is argued that it was delivered as a speech, the issues of the datation, autorship, reception and textual tradition are discussed. The study is followed by the first translation of the Sacred disease into Czech. In the extensive commentary, apart of the explanation of the text, many problems such as the author's conception of the divine, his sources and some other theoretical issues discussed by scholars are presented and their solution is proposed.

Diploma thesis "Escape of persecuted Jews from Vienna in 1942. Interpretative analysis o f a diary" deals with an escape of a man and a woman across the Alps to Italy. The research aimed at studying two levels of the problem, the phenomenon of refuge as such, and a diary as an autobiographical resource, and provides its analysis. Considering the variety of the environments in which the escape happened, the author had to examine all possibilities to access the resources, and also the methods o f verification. Thus archive documents were used alongside with printed resources and artifacts. The diary is to be regarded as a resource, which first of all, records the event as such, and also as a document, which reflects the writer's experience. The commentary through interpretation presents not only the so far unknown route of an illegal passage of Austro-Italian border, but also discusses the relationship of the refugees, a man and a woman, in extreme conditions. The purpose of the master thesis Thomas of Ireland: De tribus sensibus sacrae scripturae - editio princeps, commentary and translation is to study the treatise De tribus sensibus sacrae scipturae. This hitherto unpublished text is part of a trilogy which also includes the treatises De tribus punctis christianae religionis and De tribus hierarchiis all written by Thomas of Ireland, an author active at the University of Paris around 1300. The latter is known chiefly for his collection of authorities called Manipulus florum, which was one of the biggest bestsellers of the time. The De tribus sensibus sacrae scripturae contains a theoretical section which briefly exposes the principles and rules of the literal and mystical exegesis of the Bible. But most of the treatise consists of an exemplary exegesis of verse Wisdom 9, 1 with long excursuses on subjects such as astronomy or translatio studii. The present work includes the critical edition of the treatise from the five known manuscripts with the ms. Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Latin 16397 as the base manuscript. The edition of the text is accompanied by a study of the manuscript tradition and a description of the manuscripts which the author has been able to access. This thesis is one of the first works in the Czech language dealing with the personality and work of Marcus Cornelius Fronto, Roman rhetor of 2. century A. D. and teacher of Marcus Aurelius. After the palimpsest with the correspondence of Fronto was found in early 19th century, the reputation of this man suffered greatly. The man had been seen for many decades as superficial and flat archaisator, whose letters have no or only very little value for us. The aim of this tesis is to examinate the most problematical questions connected with Fronto, firstly his attitude to philosophy and the opinion, that archaism is the main and ubiquitous characteristic of his style. This theoretical treatise is accompanied with translation of several selected texts.

(in English): This thesis focuses on the first book of Historia Langobardorum (History of the Lombards), a historiographical work written by Paulus Diaconus (Paul the Deacon), a Benedictine monk and Lombard historian. The thesis consists of three parts - an introductory essay, a translation of the book and a commentary. An edition of the Latin text is attached as an appendix. In the introductory essay, having given the necessary facts, I summarise previous research on Historia Langobarorum and discuss Paul's use of sources with focus on some of the questions connected to this topic (especially the question of Paul's knowledge of the Lombard oral tradition). In the following part of the essay, the book is analysed within the conventions of so-called origo gentis-genre. The topic of this dissertation is a Medieval collection of 116 love letters (and fragments thereof), composed in all likelihood in the 12th century and commonly known today as "Epistulae duorum amantium". The only extant copy, penned by the Librarian of Clairvaux Abbey, comes from the latter half of the 15th century. The manuscript was discovered no sooner than in the 1970s and has been a subject of many questions ever since: It is not clear who the author of the original is or if the scribe copied a collection of genuine intimate correspondence or a work of rhetorical fiction (of the "ars dictaminis" genre). Nevertheless, certain aspects of the narrative and the relationship between the two lovers as depicted in the texts make some contemporary Medieval scholars believe that the collection might be an authentic record of the correspondence between the influential French theologian Abélard and his student Heloïse, written during the period of their mutual intensive romantic attachment. The aim of this dissertation is to present a complete Czech translation of the collection, accompanied by commentary and, using relevant works of secondary literature, to assess the current stage of research regarding the authenticity of the correspondence and its authorship.

The book Postproduction: Culture as Screenplay, written by French aesthetician Nicolas Bourriaud is going to be initial text for my diploma thesis. Bourriaud claims, that contemporary art is mostly made by the principle of assemblage; art works are made by reinterpretation, reproducing or by new exhibiting of artefacts or forms of past. The assumption of the original concept in artworks of contemporary artists - semionauts (travelers in the worlds of signs) has been allready completely ineffective. Through the example of hyperrealistic paintings, which has lately reappeared in portfolios of international and czech artists, I will try to show whether its revilal is based on the emergence of new medias, that even more than in the seventies simulate reality or whether they deal with the concept of postpostprodution - the artists lend only formal, in this case, hyperrealistic, signs. This diploma thesis will be completed by the case study of paintings of czech hyperrealist painter Jan Mikulka.

My thesis aims to present the Czech translation of excerpts from two novels by Srđan Valjarević, a contemporary Serbian author, and their translatological analysis. The first translational part deals with Valjarević's debut novel Leaf on a Breadcrust (1990, List nakorici hleba), the second introduces his latest work to date, Lake Como (2007, Komo). Valjarević's fiction has not been presented yet to the Czech audience by means of translation. The core of my thesis lies in two chapters: the first one is devoted to the author's biography and a comprehensive summary of his published work; the second one contains translations and commentaries of the selected excerpts.

As the subject for the research was selected the FIFA game series, currently the best-selling game of virtual sports category. The objective of the analysis is to find out under which circumstances could this game includes the Czech version of audio commentary. Structurally this diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and research part. The first part describes the theoretical aspects of the researched issue. Describes the evolution in the video game industry from its beginnings to the present time, including the phenomenon of the eSports that is described in the second chapter. The theoretical part concludes with an analysis of methods, elements and specifics, for commentating of a sporting events. At the beginning of the research, this analysis is confronted with the specifics of the word algorithm for audio commentary used in the FIFA game series. This diploma thesis is focused on the live-broadcast sports events commentary which is a strictly specific journalistic profession and also one of the most challenging news disciplines of them all. It mainly concentrates on the professional commentators ("play-by-play") in the television environment. To define differences between performances of commentators in public and private television stations using linguistic and quantitative context analysis is the main goal of this thesis. The gender issues in the live-broadcast sports events commentary as a field - which are very rare in the Czech academic environment - are also being evaluated here. Transcripts of commentaries of previously chosen ice hockey matches are the main source for practical chapters of this publication. In both theoretical and practical parts of the thesis, author also considers his own interviews conducted with commentators and other professionals from selected field.

The main goal of thesis is to propose measures that could solve unclear tax aspects of constitution of time threshold permanent establishment in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part of thesis is defined the term of "permanent estab-lishment" in Czech law on income tax, in article 5 of OECD Model tax convention and in Commentary on Article 5 of OECD Model tax convention. In the practical part of thesis is made the analysis of Article 5 of conventions for avoidance of double taxation, the analysis of practice of courts and the stance of Czech tax administrator on these problems. Enev is an almost unknown author in the Czech milieu (only these short stories were published in a Czech translation: Little Bulgarian from Alaska, Българи 2011; Niki- Nikola, Casablanca and How to write haiku, Plav 2014/č.1; Little town Mendocino from the book Which way the wind is blowing. Anthology of short stories from Southeast Europe. Praha: Univerzita Karlova, 2016, s. 38-43). He was awarded several international prizes in foreign countries and his stories were translated into several foreign languages (he achieved a great success e.g. in Austria where Zirkus Bulgarien, Geschichten für eine Zigarettenlänge. In the center of interest of this dissertation called The Pragmalinguistic analysis of Czech and French commentary lies in the qualitative methodological approach to a specific media communication form - a printed commentary. The dissertation has several objectives: firstly, it describes the methodological tools used in the francophone analysis of discourse which are consequently used to construct the author's own system as a basis for the analysis. The author has chosen the tools which create language subjectivity and manifestation of the author in the text which are in francophone areas traditionally called as a complex of "énonciation": discourse/history (É. Benveniste), "théorie des blocs sémantiques", polyphony and intertextuality, metaphors, modalisators, deictics, connectors. In the second part of the dissertation, the author uses the theoretical basis built in the first part and applies it to create her own analysis, comparison and final evaluation of two journalistic texts - one from Le Monde and the other one from Hospodářské noviny. Vladimír Trpka Abstract The doctoral thesis deals with metafiction as a key theoretical concept influencing both theoretical contemplations on self-reflexivity in narrative fiction and interpretation of the development of self-reflexive practice in literature. The main objective, based on an analysis of the most influential theoretical approaches to narrative self-reflexivity, is to propose such concepts of metafiction and self-reflexive narration that could be applied in the analysis of the self-reflexive practice in the Czech narrative fiction. The theoretical part focuses on examining the relationship between metafiction and narrative self- reflexivity. Metafiction is viewed as a concept that has not only replaced the concept of self-conscious novel, but it has also adapted it to the postmodern conception of fiction. The concept of fictionality in the theoretical concept of metafiction is directly related to postmodern discourse in which this concept was born. The present work focuses on metalanguage comments in Slovak and Czech texts. The comments occur together with contact-induced phenomena employed by both languages and can be identified in text fragments, such as Áno, taký som aj ostanem, lebo vraj starého psa novým kouskúm nenaučíš - ako hovoria bratia Česi / Nebyl jsem schopen jídla, ale lemtal jsem vodu "ani ťava", jak říkají bratia Slováci. The given issue is presented in the context of research focusing on the non-theoretic (folk, naive) metalinguistic reflection. The usage of metalanguage comments, accompanying deliberately contact-induced phenomena, is a testament to the existence of the Czech-Slovak and Slovak-Czech language contact and it clearly shows how Slovak and Czech language users intentionally employ words, multi-word units, idioms and other linguistic devices from the other language to fulfill their communicative intention. By using the contact-induced phenomena from the closely related language the speaker can achieve various communicativ e goals and effects including actualization and refreshing of his or her utterance, being more expressive and filling in subjectively perceived intro-linguistic lacuna.
