Full textThis essay explores how various actors within politics and law look upon rural development at waterfront locations, the so-called LIS-areas, which aims at contributing to the rural municipalities’ financial and demographic development in riparian areas. The empirical material is exclusively based on court reports from the Land and Environment High Court in Sweden and debate records from the Swedish Parliament between 2012-2019 which have been analysed qualitatively. In summary, nature seems to play a small role in court decisions about exemptions from the riparian law. However, nature and scenic landscapes are being used as political arguments for or against exemptions from the riparian law. Another conclusion from the analysis is that the Swedish County Boards are pushed into a tight corner between law and politics when they retry exemptions from the riparian law in rural municipalities. Finally, there is a common political direction of will, in the Swedish Parliament today, towards delegating more power to the municipalities for deciding on building in riparian areas and that beach protection will become more selective in the future.

Full textThrough a qualitative interview study, this study has sought to understand how commodified feminism, through terms such as Girl Power, Empowerment and Sisterhood, can influence women's experiences of femininity, feminism and self-identity. To meet the purpose of the study, the following research questions were posed; (1) How do our informants experience that they are influenced by the representations of femininity that they encounter in their everyday lives? (2) How do our informants experience that they are influenced by feminist messages that they encounter in their everyday lives? (3) Where do our informants position themselves in the matter of consuming feminism? (4) Are the informants’ perception of commodified feminism influenced by how they relate to feminism? In the analysis theories of identity, reflexivity, consumption, commodification and feminism has been used. Data has been collected through interviews with twelve women in the ages of 18-50. Through representations of femininity and feminist messages that the informants encounter, we can discern that traditional demands and expectations of women exist in parallel with new demands and expectations, characterized by neoliberalist values. These values are shown to be conveyed through messages packaged in feminist disguise, arose through the processes of commodification. The informants display both awareness and contradictory feelings about how representations and commodification affect feminism as well as the individual. The fact of feminism being displayed in commodified form is experienced normalizing feminism as well as creating more resistance. To some extent, commodified feminism is believed to dilute feminist ideologies. At the same time, the results point to the fact that messages and symbols of commodified feminism can function as creators of identity, giving the individual a sense of context and belonging. All informants, however, do not agree on the matter of commodity feminism as a creator of identity as some express a more negative view on the issue. The results indicate that informants who identify themselves as feminists and exhibit a greater involvement in feminist matters to a certain extent poses a deeper, more nuanced and critical reasoning, often based on the incompatibility of capitalism and feminism. This leads to the conclusion that the individuals own feminist interest partly can be seen to steer her experience, interpretation and consumption of commodified feminism.

Full textThe aim of the study is to explore how purchasers of sexual services describe and explain their behavioural patterns, with a focus on their intimate relations and everyday life. Data was collected in semi-structured interviews with nine male participants who purchase sexual services and are currently in a relationship. Using a qualitative method, a poststructuralist research approach was applied. The empirical findings were analysed within theoretical frameworks and viewpoints based on modernity theories, encompassing various forms of commercialization and commodification of intimate relations. The principal results of the study present an idea of what functions the purchases of sexual services fulfil for the participants, how the purchases are organized and carried out, and how the behaviour affects their attitudes towards current partners and relations. Furthermore, the results give an understanding of how purchases of sexual services relate to private and commercial sexuality, what concerns the participants have for applicable Swedish legislation, and what moral values they hold regarding purchases of sexual services. On individual, relational and structural levels, the analysis shows how the participants navigate and negotiate around various aspects of intimacy and consumption in connection to purchases of sexual services outside a current relation.

Full textAtt resa i filmers och böckers fotspår är något som lockar allt fler turister och forskning inom området har ofta fokuserat på turisternas motivation vid valet av destination. Denna studie fokuserar istället på hur verksamheterna som arrangerar attraktionerna arbetar. Syftet för denna studie är att undersöka hur några aktörer inom turism i Stockholm och Ystad arbetar med att locka turister till Wallander- och Millenniumvandringarna med fokus på utformning av rundturerna och digital marknadsföring. Metoden som används är kvalitativ. Tre intervjuer genomförs med informanter från Stadsmuseet, Ystad Studios Visitor Center och Stockholm Business Region. Utöver intervjuerna analyseras även digital marknadsföring i form av hemsidor och sociala medier. Resultatet av undersökningen visar att det inte finns så många produkter med koppling till Wallander och Millennium, förutom stadsvandringarna, och det utvecklas inte några nya eftersom det inte publiceras nya böcker. Den digitala marknadsföringen har minskat de senaste åren, speciellt för Millennium, på grund av att intresset har sjunkit. Men dessa stadsvandringar lockar turister till destinationerna eftersom de är reseanledningar och de bidrar till en ökad kännedom och en attraktiv bild av platsen.
