Abstract:
Habermas rejects a class-specific approach to social analysis and political practice and, in renewing the social theory of Marx, he turns primarily to a reconstruction of the work of Max Weber. The conceptualization of society is approached from the interrelated themes of rationalization, bureaucratization and reification. But Habermas seeks to overcome the instrumentalist implications of Weber's one-sided view of rationalization and related rejection of a cognitivist ethics by an expanded framework of rationality that introduces the concept of communicative action and, with it, the promise of clarifying the normative foundations of a critical theory of society.
Against contrary views of Habermas' overriding purpose this thesis shows the major strands of his theoretical programme to have their unifying interconnections within an enduring commitment to a rational morally guided practice. Critically vulnerable aspects of this programme, however, suggest that the unity of theory and practice will prove to be as elusive for him as it was for his Marxist predecessors.

La rupture des modèles de pensée et d'action caractérise la situation de crise que vivent aujourd'hui les agriculteurs. Dans cette phase ultime de leur intégration à la modernité, la perte des repères normatifs conduits à la remise en cause des modalités de la communication ordinaire. L'approche développée par Habermas dans "la théorie de l'agir communicationnel" (fayard, 1987), sur l'articulation entre raison instrumentale et raison communicationnelle, permet d'en saisir les modalités. Leur univers mental doit, en effet, intégrer des formes nouvelles de rationalité, issues de la science et de la technique. La logique de l'économie tend à supplanter la recherche de la coopération sociale. La dissociation des sphères sociale et professionnelle et la transformation des pratiques de communication résultent de cette rationalisation progressive des processus de pensée. La recherche menée dans le département des Cotes-d’Armor analyse les conséquences de la professionnalisation et souligne le sentiment de "dépossession de soi" que ressentent les agriculteurs
Farmers are experiencing a situation of crisis characterized by the rupture of their previous models of thought and action. In this final stage of their integration into modernity, the loss of normative marks leads to a challenge of their modes of ordinary communication. Haberma's approach of the articulation between instrumental and communicational reason (in "the theory of communicative action", Boston, beacon, 1983, 2 vols. ) Allows to understand this challenge. Their mental universe has to integrate new forms of rationality stemming from science and technique. Market logic tends to supplant the search for social co-operation. This progressive rationalization of the modes of thinking generates a dissociation between social and professional realms, and a transformation of the practices of communication. Research has been carried out in the region of the Cotes-d’Armor (France). It analyses the consequences of the professionalisation of farming. It emphasizes the feeling of "self-dispossession" by the farmers

Abstract:
Feminist theory is a vast area of discourse and, while the differences between the many tendencies are extremely interesting, it is beyond the scope of this thesis to engage in such an inquiry. I have chosen to conduct a critique of Habermas's theory of communicative action from a perspective informed for the most part by postmodern/poststructural feminism. I hope that my reasons for working within such a framework will become evident in the following chapters but, in my view, a postmodern/poststructural feminist perspective sharpens the critique of Habermas's theory precisely because it stands in such contrast to it. For the purposes of this thesis, my critique will focus upon Habermas's most recent work - The Theory of Communicative Action, Volume I: Reason and the Rationalization of Society (1984), and Volume II: The Critique of Functionalist Reason (1987). Other works by Habermas will not be specifically addressed although references will be made to them as necessary to clarify his positions on various issues.

Abstract:
Jurgen Habermas is a second-generation social philosopher of the Frankfurt school, the birthplace of critical theory. He suggests that modernity is a project of substituting rationality for religion. In his analysis, such a succession is the result of a process of social evolution, in which each developmental stage has its basic concepts and modes of understanding subjective, objective, and social worlds. For him, the salient feature of rationality consists of differentiation between various validity claims of truth, truthfulness, and sincerity which are indistinguishable in religious language. The rationalization of religion, hence, progresses in terms of a differentiation between validity claims, a decentration of human understanding, the disenchantment of the world, and the linguistification of the sacred. Habermas proposes a universal pragmatics in which two modes of language use are separated: instrumental-strategic, and communicative. He thinks that the failure of the enlightenment movement to replace religion with reason stems from its preoccupation with instrumental reason and language use, dispensing with communicative rationality; and the remedy lies in communicative rationality.
Critically analyzing Habermas' theory of communicative action, this study examines Habermas' basic idea of substituting communicative rationality for religion in the light of his critique of Max Weber and of instrumental reason. Ontological, epistemological, methodological, and conceptual presuppositions in his argument are discussed and evaluated.

Ausgehend von dem konkreten mehrdimensionalen missionalen Kirchenprojekt REFOmoabit ist es Ziel dieser Masterarbeit, eine Antwort auf die Frage zu geben, wie eine fruchtbare Integration von (1) gemeinschaftlichem Leben, (2) gesellschaftsrelevantem Gemeindebau und (3) Immobilienmanagement gelingen kann. Die aktuelle ekklesiologische Praxis und Erfahrung zeigt jedoch, dass es zu Spannungen zwischen dem Prinzip des gaben- und konsensbasierten Miteinanders, einerseits und der Entwicklung eines gesellschaftsrelevanten Gemeindebaus und einem die ersten beiden Bereiche unterstützenden Immobilienmanagements andererseits kommt. Infolgedessen soll im Rahmen dieser Arbeit die Frage nach der genauen Art und Ausprägung dieser Spannungen, ihren Ursachen und möglichen Lösungen, die eine wirklich fruchtbare Integration dieser drei Bereiche ermöglichen, untersucht und beantwortet werden. Dies erfolgt mit einem interdisziplinären Dreischritt, indem (a) soziologisch Art, Ausprägung und Ursache der vorfindlichen Spannungen analysiert werden, diese (b) theologisch reflektiert werden und abschließend (c) praktisch-theologische Handlungsmöglichkeiten als ekklesiologische Hilfestellungen für eine fruchtbare Integration entwickelt werden.
Based on the multidimensional church planting project REFOmoabit this dissertation aims to answer the question how a fruitful integration of (1) communal life, (2) societal relevant congregational development and (3) property estate management is possible. Current ecclesiological practice and experience has shown that tensions arise between the principle of gift- and consensus-based cooperation and transformative church planting as well as the real estate management that is supposed to support the other two areas. Therefore this dissertation aims to examine and answer questions about the exact nature and extent of these tensions, their causes and possible solutions that make a truly fruitful integration of these three areas possible. This takes place within an interdisciplinary approach by (a) analyzing the nature, extent and reason of the tensions sociologically, (b) examining them from a theological viewpoint and (c) offering practical theological courses of action as an ecclesiological aid for a fruitful integration.

When we face difficulties such as interpersonal relationships in our lives, we can help ourselves by reading self-help books. In recent years, more and more people in Taiwan read self-help books. The popular phenomenon can be observed from the list of best-selling books, including not only books of local writers, but also translations from abroad. On the other hand, the reliability and validity of self-help books are controversial, so there is a huge amount of research on self-help books in the United States. Although Taiwan has less research on self-help books, it has been an increase in recent years. This study took the translation of self-help books as the research area and focused on the perspective of Peter Newmark’s communicative translation. The research subject is the culture-specific expressions from German bestseller Argumentier unter Stress: Wie man unfaire Angriffe erfolgreich abwehrt. The purpose of this study was to analyze translation strategy of self-help books. Moreover, according to the theories of cultural layers by several culture scholar, the author divided the culture-specific expressions into explicit and implicit culture-specific words. Finding out difference of the translation strategy between two type of culture-specific expressions was another aim of this study. The results of the study were that strategies of domestication were most often used, no matter what explicit or implicit culture-specific expressions. On the other hand, most of culture-specific words with strategies of foreignization can be also understood. Therefore, translator's choice between the two strategies was based on the understanding of the readers. Self-help books are suitable for communicative translation in practical work.

Die Auswirkungen der Risikopotentialanalyse auf ein Alten- und Pflegeheim als Totale Institution. Heutzutage gehören Alten- und Pflegeheime zu den Wohnformen im Alter, die aus unserem Alltag in Deutschland nicht mehr wegzudenken sind. Sie bieten einer ständig älter werdenden Bevölkerung ein umfassendes Angebot an Betreuungs- und Versorgungssicherheit. Da die angebotene Qualität dieser Dienstleistung zwischen einzelnen Anbietern recht unterschiedlich ausfällt, ist der Gesetzgeber seit Gründung der Pflegeversicherung bemüht, die Leistungen für die Qualität der angebotenen Pflege und Betreuung durch allgemeine Vorgaben zu sichern und zu verbessern. Dazu wurde die Pflegeprozessmethode mit einer die Pflegequalität fördernden Pflegedokumentation als Verpflichtung vorgeschrieben. In den vergangenen Jahren – bedingt durch die demografische Entwicklung, aber auch durch veränderte gesetzliche Vorgaben – hat sich die Bewohnerstruktur in Alten- und Pflegeheimen verändert. Dort nimmt der Anteil multimorbider Bewohner und solchen mit einer ausgeprägten Demenz stetig zu. Eine der Möglichkeiten, sich auf die verändernden Pflege- und Betreuungsbedürfnisse der Bewohner, wie auch die anwachsenden Anforderungen des Gesetzgebers, einzustellen, besteht darin, häufig vorkommende Bereiche der Pflege- und Betreuung als Risikopotenziale zu benennen. Mit der Methode der Risikopotenzialanalyse werden Pflegefachkräfte unterstützt, für den einzelnen Bewohner die festgelegten Risikopotenziale in ihrer Ausprägung zu erfassen, zu analysieren und zu bewerten. Unterstützt wird ein solches Vorgehen z.B. durch das RiP® Managementsystem, durch transparente Definitionen der einzelnen Risikobereiche, Kriterien zur Gewichtung und Vorschläge für mögliche Pflege- und Betreuungsmaßnahmen. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht die Einführung der Risikopotentialanalyse auf das Alten- und Pflegeheim vor dem Hintergrund des soziologischen Konzepts der Totalen Institution. In der vorliegenden hypothesenprüfenden Evaluationsstudie wurde die Wechselwirkung zwischen der Risikopotenzialanalyse als Instrument zur Systematisierung der Prozessgestaltung in einem Alten- und Pflegeheim und den Merkmalen einer Totalen Institution untersucht. Da das Forschungsfeld auf eine Einrichtung begrenzt war und um die dort gegebene Komplexität abzubilden, wurden im Sinne einer methodologischen Triangulation unterschiedliche Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung angewandt. Es wurden Experteninterviews mit Bewohnerinnen und Bewohnern geführt und ausgewertet. Mit den Mitarbeitenden wurden sowohl Experteninterviews wie auch eine Gruppendiskussion zur Ergebnisvalidation geführt und ebenfalls ausgewertet. Als weitere Methode wurde eine empirische Inhaltsanalyse der Pflegeprozessplanungen vor und 18 Monate nach der Einführung der Risikopotenzialanalyse vorgenommen. Danach wurden in einem letzten Schritt die vorliegenden Ergebnisse zur Risikopotenzialanalyse hinsichtlich ihrer Wechselwirkung auf ein Alten- und Pflegeheim und dessen Merkmale als Totale Institution diskutiert. Als zentrales Ergebnis wurde dabei herausgearbeitet, dass es eine Wechselwirkung zwischen der Risikopotenzialanalyse als Instrument zur Prozessgestaltung in einem Alten- und Pflegeheim und dessen Merkmalen als Totale Institution gibt. Diese Wechselwirkung begründet sich zunächst in einem allumfassenden ordnungsrechtlichen Rahmen, der durch seine Anforderungen und Vorgaben eine gleichermaßen abmildernde, verstärkende und nicht zuletzt stabilisierende Wirkung auf die Merkmale des Heims als Totale Institution entfaltet. Die Risikopotenzialanalyse (RIP) selbst wirkt sich durch ihren Aufbau und ihre Struktur für die Anwendung im Pflegeprozess unterstützend auf diese Merkmale aus, denn für den einzelnen Bewohner lassen sich die täglichen Pflege- und Betreuungsmaßnahmen nun transparenter und strukturierter planen als vorher. Auf dieser Grundlage wird es dem Personal erleichtert, für die Durchführung der geplanten Maßnahmen zu sorgen. Die unterschiedlichen Pflege- und Betreuungspläne lassen sich für einen Bereich in einem einzigen rationalen Plan vereinigen, z.B. in einer Plantafel. Andererseits wirkt sich die RIP positiv auf die Wahrnehmung des einzelnen Bewohners und die schriftliche Dokumentation aus. Wurde vor der Einführung (t1) die Qualität der Pflegeprozessplanungen mit einer Gesamtnote von 3,31 bewertet, so hob sich der Notendurchschnitt 18 Monate später (t2) auf 2,45. Für Mitarbeitenden hat sich die RIP als geeignetes Analyse- und Unterstützungsinstrument für die Pflege- und Betreuungsplanung herausgestellt. Sie profitieren von der klar vorgegebenen Struktur von RIP, an der sie sich orientieren können. Das gibt ihnen Sicherheit, aber auch Klarheit für die Beschreibung und Planung der erforderlichen Pflege- und Betreuungsmaßnahmen. Wurden zum Zeitpunkt t1 nur 17 der 32 möglichen Risikobereiche eingeschätzt, so waren es zu t2 im Durchschnitt 31. Diese deutliche Verbesserung zeigt sich auch in der Bewertung der Handlungsanleitung für die geplanten Maßnahmen, die von einer Bewertung von 3,35 auf einen Mittelwert von 2,32 anstieg. Damit profitieren die Bewohner von dieser Entwicklung, auch wenn für sie der Dokumentationsaspekt neben den Erwartungen an die praktische Umsetzung keine Rolle spielt. Darüber hinaus profitieren die Bewohner indirekt davon, dass durch eine risikoorientierte Sichtweise des Personals die Wahrnehmung der Bewohner systematischer und damit individueller geworden ist. Wurden anfänglich nur 53% der Risikopotenziale erfasst und eingeschätzt, stieg der Wert bei der zweiten Messung auf insgesamt 97% an. Wurden zu t1 durchschnittlich 2,27 Pflegesymptome mit 4,51 Ressourcen beschrieben, so stieg als Zeichen der individuelleren Wahrnehmung der Wert zu t2 im Durchschnitt auf 3,77 Pflegesymptome und 5,17 Ressourcen an. Diese individuellere Wahrnehmung der Bewohner nützt den Mitarbeitenden und den Bewohnern gleichermaßen. Die Mitarbeitenden profitieren von einer verbesserten Dokumentation dahingehend, dass ihnen nun individuellere Informationen ihrer Bewohner zur Verfügung stehen. Aber die Entscheidung, ob und welche Pflege- und Betreuungsmaßnahmen die Pflegekraft für den Pflegekontakt nutzt, fällt hingegen erst im situativen Erleben des Bewohners. Die Bewohner selbst nehmen die Bemühungen der Mitarbeitenden wahr und verlassen sich auf deren Expertise und Erfahrung. Das tun sie aus der Beobachtung heraus, dass das Personal auch dann individuell angemessene Entscheidungen für Pflege- und Betreuung trifft, wenn sie selbst dazu nicht mehr in der Lage sind.
