This master thesis focuses on a relationship between poverty and conflict. The aim is to analyze poverty as a potential cause of internal conflict. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part discusses the multidimensional character of poverty, the nature of a nexus between poverty and conflict and introduces modern concepts of economic causes of conflict. The second part tests if higher personal income reduces the probability of internal conflict to emerge. Both phenomena are transformed into a simple mathematical function in order to test their nexus. Characteristics of both regional and universal nature of their relationship are scrutinized. Finally, poverty is not universally believed to be a major cause of civil conflicts. However, poverty is suggested to be a major cause of internal conflicts if personal income is not high enough to satisfy basic human meets. The level of violence, under which conflicts are likely to emerge, is believed to be set at the level of 2$ (of daily income). #English version of the thesis is available per request.#

My intention is to identify main factor, which shape and influence bilateral Sino-japan relations in long term view. I suggest that main factor is historical factor. Thesis explains the change in bilateral relations after Cold war. Also explains national myth-making, nationalism and current problems such as Yasukuni Shrine and text-book controversy. Last part is focused on territorial conflict between China and Japan, namely Senkaku/Diaoyu islands.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the relationship between the EU and the USA with an emphasis on the period after the year 2000. The analysis was only possible with knowledge of preceding milestones that have formed the partnership, the thesis- therefore- begins with the period after the Second World War, to which the European Union can trace its roots. The thesis follows the changes in the relationship during the decades of the Cold War (long-term trends) and in the first decade after its end (short-term trends), and then, due to the broadness of the issue, concrete themes from the period after the year 2000. The thesis also examines the relationship in terms of partnership and conflict, and examines the reasons and events behind the motivation on both sides. The first chapter deals with the Europe-USA relationship development since 1945 and is divided into five parts according to post-war decades. The second chapter deals with the Europe (EU)-USA relationship development after the Cold War up to the beginning of the new millennium. The third chapter represents the centerpiece of the thesis- key issues in the transformation of the relationship. The chapter is divided into four subchapters: divergent and shared opinions on the fight against terrorism (Afghanistan, Iraq), divergent and shared opinions in relation to international organisations and treaties (the Kyoto Protocol, the International Criminal Court), divergent and shared opinions on solving the financial crisis. The fourth subchapter examines the transformation and continuity of the relationship after the accession of the Obama administration.

The thesis deals with the young generation´s view of the old age period. The theoretical part of work is devoted to the issues of ageing and the old age. The changes associated with the ageing process are described there and the demographic trends of ageing population and the situation in the Czech Republic are also mentioned. Emphasis is given to the specification, formation and transformation of generations over a period of time. In the chapter called ´Generation gap relationships´, points of view of both the young and the elderly are described, together with the ageism phenomenon and mutual solidarity. The following chapters of the theoretical part are devoted to generation gap conflicts and communication. Qualitative research, aiming to discover how young generation members view the old age and elderly people, is carried out in the practical part of thesis. The qualitative research deals with the four main topics: elderly people definition through the eyes of young, young generation´s characterization of the old age, the status of elderly people in the Czech society viewed by the young generation and mutual generation gap relationships in the family frame. Qualitative research was carried out by means of semi-structured interviews with informers belonging to the young generation. In the practical part of thesis, relationships between the young and the elderly generation are detaily scrutinized.

Thesis is focused on development of historical relationship between the UK and the EU since the end of second world war, followed by establishment of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in 1951, over Brexit, until these days. It's written from the British point of view, specifically depending on the attitude of government of UK and British parliamentary political parties to European integration. British government, similarly to British political parties, has a main impact on British public opinion. Main goal of my thesis is to focus on attitude of these political subjects to European integration and find out how great was their influence on decision of British voters during Brexit. Constructive management of relationship conflicts, which may be conditioned by the interaction of both romantic partners, is a key factor for mutual satisfaction. Therefore, the main aim of this thesis was to find out a mediating role of conflict communication styles in long-term heterosexual couples. For the Practical part of the thesis was chosen a quantitative research, including data from 76 long-term heterosexual couples between 18 - 40 years of age. Attachment dimensions were measured by The Close Relationship Experience - Revised (ECR-R-16), relationship adjustment by The Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), and six conflict communication styles (compromising, dominant, separating, submissive, avoidant and reactive) by The Romantic Partner Conflict Scale (RPCS). The effect of conflict communication styles as mediators seems to be predicted by attachment and gender. In men, the mediating function of communication styles between attachment and relationship adjustment was confirmed for reactive and avoidant style, in women for reactive and compromising. Master's thesis China, India and the armed conflict potential in South East Asia is concerned with the current relations of mentioned countries and is trying to figure out, if an outburst of a military conflict between them could occur or whether they will rather cooperate. The thesis is based on the notion that these two world giants in the terms of number of inhabitants, area and even a GDP volume have an unresolved border dispute, ever since the India reached independence. Their mutual border has never been officially demarcated. The small skirmishes between the border patrols of both states are uncountable. In addition, in 1962 they waged a war against each other, which China won in very decisive manner. Both states have been disputing which side caused this conflict till today. Rising economic power of both states currently, together with supposed arming, development of military rocket and submarine technology capable to carry nuclear warheads and establishment of naval bases by China in the proximity of India could create a really effervescent atmosphere in the area. The main goal of this master's degree thesis is research how possible is armed conflict between People's Republic of China and Japan. Both states which are important actors in Pacific region and also in the global scale, had a number of conflicts in history. Nowadays is visible sharp deterioration of relations due to territorial, political, military and economic disputes. The beginning of thesis is aimed to show historical background of the mutual relations that is a key for understanding nowadays disputes. The research is based on two theories - neorealistic balance of power theory and concept of commercial liberalism. The factors from these theories can measure relevance of threat and helps answer the question how possible is the emergence of armed conflict. Master thesis explores self-esteem and chosen aspects of romantic relationships. At first were defined theoretical background of self-esteem concept, romantic relationship concept and chosen constructs - satisfaction, trust and conflicts. Conflicts are divided into 6 styles (compromise, dominant, submissive, separation, avoidant and reactive). For the empirical part of thesis a quantitative approach was chosen using questionnaire exploration. Main goal of the research was exploring of relationships between chosen relationship constructs and self-esteem. In research participated 345 respondents, whose answers were acquired using online testing. For the amount of self-esteem the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale was used, for amount of satisfaction Couples Satisfaction Index (CSI) was used, for trust The Dyadic Trust Scale was used, for a strategy of conflict solving Relationships Partner Conflict Scale (RPCS) was used. Every established hypothesis could be supported based on obtained results. Self-esteem correlates positively with satisfaction and trust in romantic relationships and also with compromise and dominant style of conflict solving. Self-esteem correlates negatively with separative, submissive, avoidant and reactive style of conflict solving.

Power-sharing has become a frequent approach to conflict resolution and postconflict reconstruction in deeply divided multi-ethnic states. Although most of the power-sharing arrangements failed within the first years after their establishment, a few contemporary cases are associated with successful power-sharing, namely with the consociational model. This work aims to determine the impact of the power-sharing arrangement on conflict dynamics and vice versa, thus the development of the model in the long term. Designs, aims and theoretical predictions of two power-sharing models, specifically consociational and centripetal models, are elaborated and subsequently compared with the after-civil war development in Lebanon and Burundi from 2005 to 2019. The periods are divided into time units bounded by amendments of the power-sharing arrangements and peace agreements. That enables to observe the development of both conflict dynamics and models. Political and civil society developments, conflicts registered in the UCDP database and political crisis are considered and put into the context of power-sharing arrangements. The theme of the thesis is to look into the conflict of good and evil in the work of Tolkien The Silmarillion from a Biblical perspective. The text of Silmarillion itself is mainly used for identification of themes related to the central one. These themes are further analysed to reveal their origin, namely whether they came from the biblical tradition or some other tradition. The first part is devoted to the Silmarillion itself and provides a brief summary to remind reader of the basic plot line and motifs. The second part addresses the issue of good and evil from a cosmic perspective and its definition. This section also identifies the general principles of this combat taking into account its particular realisations and allows reader to determine the influence of Christianity, Norse mythology, and other sources on Tolkien's work. The third part deals with the conflict between good and evil in relation to particular persons or groups of persons, and describes the way people surrender to the evil and how they can resist it. It makes clear what values Tolkien considered important. In this thesis reader can once again find summarisation of the factors that influenced Tolkien's work.

The main goal of this diploma thesis is to map out the area of communication and cooperation between the pupil's parents and school in a conflict situation. At the same time, this thesis examines the impact of said situation on the optimal development of the child, who is in conflicting posture against the two institutions. The theoretical part is devoted to introducing the basic functioning of family and school, its mutual relations and forms of contact between the two institutions. It also illuminates the possible modes of cooperation between parents and school and possible conflicts arising from the relationship. Theoretical framework is focused on the child at the start of compulsory education and his main developmental tasks during the primary school age. The main focus of the thesis is the empirical part, undertaken in the framework of quantitative methodological approach. The case study focuses on a pupil and the critical points of conflict among the school and family as institutions and the child between them. Using analysis of documents, semi-structured interviews and observations, the complicated relationship of particular family and school was researched, and as well the impact of the relations on the development of the child. The theoretical part defines the concept of communication. It analyzes current family and nursery schools as an institution and deals with the relations between them. It also mentions the conflict and some types of barriers that can lead to difficulties in the interaction. The practical part is based on research done through questionnaires which was aimed to teachers and parents. The result presents their subjective evaluation of communication.

Summary Relations between a nurse and a physician underwent many changes in the past. Nowadays, the relations have trended towards equal position of nurses and physicians in the health care system. It is just the equal position of the both professions in care for the client which is a prerequisite of good team cooperation and a guarantee of good-quality nursing as well as therapeutical care. The aim of our work was to find the prevailing forms of relations between nurses and physicians in the examined set of nurses and to determine whether or not nurses think they are equal partners of the physicians within the team cooperation. The quantitative method of research survey was used for the thesis elaboration. We used a questionnaire survey for the data collection. The research sample consisted of nurses working in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague. The data were collected from April till June 2008. One hundred and fifty-two questionnaires were used for the results evaluation. We made 7 hypotheses for the research purposes. Hypothesis no. 1: Nurses with a longer than 10-year professional experience evaluate the relations with physicians more positively than nurses with a shorter professional experience. This hypothesis was disconfirmed on the basis of statistical analysis.Questioned nurses evaluated the relations with physicians most often as good {--} 56.5 %. Hypothesis no. 2: Nurses with higher education feel to be perceived as the physician{\crq}s partner in the care for patients more often than nurses with secondary education. This hypothesis was also disconfirmed on the basis of statistical analysis. Out of the questioned nurses, 60.5 % do not feel to be perceived by the physicians as their equal partners. Hypothesis no. 3: Nurses at the intensive care units are charged by the physicians with works that do not fall within their competence more often than nurses at standard departments. This hypothesis was confirmed. On the basis of our research, we have found that the questioned nurses at the intensive care units are charged with some highly specialized works that fall within the physicians{\crq} competence. Hypothesis no. 4: Conflict situations in the relation nurse {--} physician are alleged more often by nurses with professional experience un till 10 years as compared to nurses with longer professional experience. The statistical analysis did not confirm this hypothesis. Existence of conflict situations at the work site was stated by 54.7 % of al questioned nurses. Hypothesis no. 5: Nurses solve the conflict situations with physicians through their superiors. This hypothesis was confirmed. In case of a conflict with a physician, the questioned nurses most often contact the head nurse. Hypothesis no. 6: Nurses{\crq} relations with physicians influence their job satisfaction. This hypothesis was confirmed. Relations with physicians are important for job satisfaction of 96.7 % of the questioned nurses. Hypothesis no. 7: In their relation to nurses, physicians observe the rules of etiquette. This hypothesis was confirmed as well. Our proposal to improve the team cooperation between nurses and physicians is as follows. Time should be devoted to interpersonal relations already during the studies of both physicians and nurses; techniques developing cooperation of nurses and physicians should be integrated in their continuing education; measures to improve cooperation should be implemented on the management level of health care facilities; and other researches relating this topic should be executed.

This diploma thesis is focused on selected aspects of socialisation of adolescents. It examines natures of interactions of adolescents and adults, emphasises social relations perception and pursues the influence of authority on socialisation processes of this group. The thesis was written in a theoretically-empirical approach, given that the theoretical part clarifies the above-mentioned areas of research. The empirical part, on the other hand, applies the qualitative research design. The respondents group consists of adolescent boys and girls, all of whom are clients of OSPOD (Department of Social and Legal Child Protection) and curators for adolescence. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, analysing the issue of relations with individual socialisation variables and their reflection in the curators' point of view. It is assumed, socialisation processes and interactions are conflicting to a certain extent. In respect to their further development, it is necessary to understand these particular development symptoms and their perceptions. The outcome of this research is further elaborated and discussed in accordance to academic resources. At the end of the thesis, further researches as well as interventions regarding work with adolescents who experience socialisation issues are recommended. The...

Since 2008 with the Russo-Georgian war we observe the gradual deterioration of relations between Russia and the European Union which achieves its apogee during the Ukrainian crisis and the annexation of Crimea. The cultural approach is to be applied for understanding and exploration of the conflict: its reasons and mechanism. The work is aimed to define conflicting beliefs and values, considering them on a cultural basis. The current escalation of relationships is reviewed as a cultural conflict, the author claims different mentality as one of the influential factors and possible dimensions of conflict analysis. This work also points out internal cultural mechanisms and features provoking aggressive external policy and considers cultural identity as a container of ideas which justify and originate opposition and conflict with other cultures. This work is an attempt to introduce a concept of an individual's mentality, to link personal and group mentality and find out how cultural meaning content influences on formation of a personal mindset - a system of personal beliefs and values. Abstract Basic grounds: Mobbing is a negative phenomenon in our society. The diploma thesis is aimed at uncovering of mobbing symptoms amongst nurses in our hospitals. Thesis goal: The main goal was to map the symptoms of mobbing, reasons for it happens as well as to explore the tactics of behavior at problem solving and to determine the overall consequences of mobbing in professional as well as personal life of nurses. Methods used: The diploma thesis was prepared using the strategy of qualitative research survey. To collect the necessary information, a semi-structured interview technique has been used. To get the required number of respondents, the method of purposeful selection of nurses and the snowball technique have been applied. The collected data were processed using the open coding technique. Data were reduced and classified. The resulting set of data was processed using the axial coding technique. Research group: The research group comprised of ten nurses working in various fields and hospitals. Results: 1) Signs of mobbing: It was found out that nurses are concerned about inefficient communication, inappropriate behavior and conduct. Quite often they also mentioned inappropriate training / coaching. 2) Reasons for mobbing: According to nurses, the reasons for mobbing especially include new workplace, complexity of operation and the pressure for professional qualification of nurses. They also mentioned level of education, different personalities and competitive conduct of nurses. 3) Tactics the nurses applied to deal with the mobbing issue: They strived for mapping the situation and getting along with other nurses. It was found out that they often tried to settle the disputes by mutual agreement. Discussions / mutual interviews were the quite frequently used technique as well. In many cases the nurses were forced to quit the job. 4) Overall consequences of mobbing in professional and personal life of nurses: Mobbing had psychical as well as physical effects on nurses. They were stressed, the quality of their sleep was negatively affected. Conclusion: Mobbing is clearly a negative effect in our society. In the workplaces more initiatives should be implemented to increase the overall awareness of mobbing, its negative effects and potential preventive measures.

The thesis was chosen on the basis of the continuation of the bachelor´s work. This thesis is focused on the literature search of problems of the conflicts between the protection of cormorants and the interest of fishery, further on the media analysis in the Czech Republic and finally on the processing of opinions of various groups of respondents (holidaymakers in the area called ´Třeboňsko´ and Czech fishermen). The opinions of questioned people were obtained from controlled interviews written down and processed in the questionnaires. The available information shows that a number of the protected cormorants is increasing not only in the Czech Republic but all over the world. The increase of the number of cormorant population causes problems especially to fishery, because cormorants cause the damage by catching fish stock. These conflicts in the problem area are mostly promoted in the media. In the problem area there are important opinions of the key groups of inhabitants. Groups of questioned people demonstrated their knowledge: holidaymakers in the area called ´Třeboňsko´ have basic knowledge in cormorants and problems caused by cormorants. On the contrary, fishermen are well-informed about the problem. The fishermen are more interested in the problem. Media are very important for solving conflicts and forming opinions of various groups of people. Media analysis showed that most spokesmen, who initiated writing newspaper articles were just fishermen. Therefore the articles on the cormorants are negative and without opinions on the spokesmen as member of general public or academics. Results of the sociological analysis have feed back on the results of the media analysis. It was found out that in the Czech Republic there had not been drawn up any management of fish protection againts cormorants. That is why I prefer to suggest the management in the near future. I recommend to follow the existing foreign management, forexample, in Great Britain. Further, I propose to change the Czech legislation for lower payment of the compensation for the damage caused by cormorants.

This diploma thesis titled "Developments of the Foreign Policy of FRG in Relation to the Palestinian Question 1967-1974" aims to bring closer look at the dynamics of development of the foreign policy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the time when the Palestinian question began to resonate with international community. This empirical study, inspired in its' structure by the Two-Level Game concept by Robert D. Putnam, examines the effects that the Bonn Republic had to deal with in the context of today's unresolved and often polarizing issues and identify factors that were decisive for shaping of the policy. The thesis operates with hypothesis that the pro-Palestinian speech of the representative of West Germany at the United Nations in 1974 was the natural outcome of the transformation that foreign policy has undergone in the years leading to it. After the historical part, which describes the relationship between Germany and the South Levant region until 1945, the second and third chapters deal with the external and internal influences that influenced the FRG in the chosen period. Examining any topic in the Middle East requires a general knowledge because of the region's complexity and dynamics. Important characteristics is the link of Islam and politics, because this relation shaped political establishment of states. The strategic location and rich natural resources of this part of the world were tempting also for the global superpowers whose engagement divided the Middle Eastern states, particularly during the Cold War. An analysis of the factors and events that led to the formation of alliances and rivalries in the Middle East is the goal of this work. Research will focus on alliances of Iran and its Shia allies on the one hand and Saudi Arabia with the rest of Sunni monarchies on the other. Unlike other alliances mentioned in the work, these two blocks have long term character. They are also specific because of sectarian differences, their stance towards the United States and Israel and shared responses to emerging threats. BACKGROUND: Playing computer games is a favourite way to have fun since the end of the 20th century. The age of users rises together with the development of games and many gamers are nowadays middle-aged. Despite the growing number of research dealing with the issue of playing computer games, this phenomenon lacks a comprehensive definition and method of diagnosis. In some diagnostic tools, the conflict between gamers and a close person is the main and key criterion. AIM: The main aim of the research is to describe the symptoms of conflict in the close relationships of computer games players. A partial goal is to compare conflicts in close relationships in addicted or threatened by addiction gamers and non-addicted gamers. METHODS: The concept of the research is based on a qualitative research methodology. Respondents were recruited using the snow ball selection method and selected by targeted selection based on predefined criteria. The thesis presents a study of young adults' ideas about romantic relationships and marriage. The theoretical part defines the issues of the young adulthood period of development, the romantic relationships and marriage. The empirical part of the thesis consists of the description of the research methodological design and its presentation together with the results interpretation, which are discussed in the context of the theoretical concepts presented in the theoretical part. The aim of the thesis is the analysis of the ideas of young adult individuals about romantic relationships and marriage. The study offers the analysis of the partners' choice criteria, the characteristics of a steady romantic relationship and of the preconditions of good and long-term romantic relationships. It was found out that young adults have an ambivalent attitude to the marriage and to the cohabitation, they realise advantages and disadvantages of both. As a case study, it analyses different Czech and EU's positions towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and then by comparison of both levels it determines the misfit between Czech and the EU's policies in the mentioned agenda. From historical point of view and from contemporary perspective as well, the Czech Republic is famous for very pro-Israeli attitudes. On the other hand, the EU is significantly focused on supporting of the Palestinians and building the Palestinian state. The research is divided into three periods: before the Czech Presidency of the EU in the years 2004-2008, during the Czech Presidency and then after the presidency until the end of 2010. Dangers and inappropriate approaches which can ruin suitable selection and the realization of aim are mentioned too. The area of bullying has been quite well mapped, although it would appear that the research into this field has been done mainly in quantitative form. The aim of this thesis is to approach the issue from a different angle and to explore the students' point of view of the reasons for the occurence of bullying while using the qualitative form of research. For this purpose, individual interviews with sixteen seventh grade students from a basic school in Prague were conducted and subsequently analysed with the use of the open coding method. The results show that students themselves perceive bullying as a considerably individual concept. The students define bullying in terms of various negative events which are common among peers but in addition they discuss other conditions, such as recurrence, permanency and notably the feeling of being a victim, a key aspect in the definition of bullying and the use of the term itself. Various reasons for the occurence of bullying are presented in the interviews and can be divided into three categories based on whom the inception of bullying can be attributed to. As for the agressor, the explanations arise from a bad relationship with the victim, envy, revenge, satisfaction, a social status struggle or family and personal problems. The aim of this thesis is to investigate gas interdependence for political relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation. Despite of the fact that relations in the gas sphere still have particular importance for both parties, after the Ukrainian crisis, sanctions and counter-sanctions applied, they have reached the lowest point of cooperation since the end of the Cold War. This thesis is based on the interdependence model of international relations theory, asymmetries in sensitivity and vulnerability of the EU and Russia were connected to their strategies as part of the political power play. Therefore, conflict situation, high level of sensitivity and vulnerability, and interest in finding alternatives of both parties lead to the situation of 'negative interdependence'. In this context, this kind of interdependence where partners would rather avoid relations logically pushes the EU and Russia apart and stimulates reconsideration of their relationship in gas sphere.

The primary target is to get information about rate of bullying in the intensive care units in south Bohemia, especially in Prachatice and Strakonice city and to know how many percent of employees / paramedics of the intensive care units were already touched by bullying. This kind of information we got by anonymous questionnaires, set up from 23 questions with open and closed form. In theoretical part I deal with actual status, explaining term of mobbing, bossing, causes of bullying, characteristic of the participants, bullying in the health service in the Czech republic. In the conclusion I show prevention and tolerance of mobbing and bossing. In practical part I point on assesment of hypothesis and evaluation of the target of my thesis. I suppose that the chicane show up in small measure on the workplace of the intensive care units. From my point of view I think that women working in the intensive care units are getting in a touch of bullying much more than men. It does so by establishing theoretical framework of Conflict theory and internationalized conflicts. Within this framework, the Catalonia's case is examined. The thesis provides wide and extensive background on Catalan independence in order to understand how independence efforts in Catalonia emerged and evolved. The thesis also explains the means which are used by Catalan representatives in order to promote the independence internationally. Brief comparative examples of other regions within Europe are provided (with one notable mention outside of European continent) which seek for independence, as some of the features are common for all of them. Later on, the thesis features analytical part in which international impacts of Catalonia's strive for independence are examined.
