Abstract:

<i>Ein Gemälde Pisanellos in Neapel ? Eine Hypothese zur Maria mit Kind und den HI</i>. Antonius und Georg Während seines Aufenthaltes in Neapel brachte Pisanello die Porträtmalerei und zur gleichen Zeit die Propaganda für Alfons V. von Aragon zu einem neuen Aufschwung. Der König gab ihm Medaillen, Entwürfe zu Goldschmiedearbeiten und Bombarden sowie ephemäre Dekorationen in Auftrag. Dem König nahestehend nahm Pisanello also eine zentrale Stellung in der neapolitanischen Kunstproduktion dieser Zeit ein. Insofern ist es erstaunlich, dass kein einziges Gemälde aus dieser Zeit erhalten ist. Unserer Ansicht nach handelt es sich bei dem hier untersuchten Gemälde um einen privaten Auftrag von Alfons V. mit Bezug auf ein sehr wichtiges Ereignis in seinem Leben, die Eroberung des Königreichs von Neapel am 22. Juni 1442. Die Komposition sowie die au er gewöhnliche Ikonographie dieser kleinen Tafel haben die Spezialisten dazu bewogen, ihre Bedeutung im Hinblick auf verschiedene Auftragsumstände aufzuklären zu versuchen. Jedoch vermag allein die neapolitanische Hypothese die räumliche Verteilung der dargestellten drei Figuren (Maria mit dem Kind, der HI. Antonius und der HI. Georg) verständlich zu machen, die ihren Sinn finden in Bezug auf die Andachtsformen des Königs von Neapel im Kontext der Übernahme des Königreiches, die dem König auf wunderbare Weise durch eine Erscheinung der Muttergottes angekündigt worden war.

Abstract:

ZusammenfassungNach dem 2. Weltkrieg etablierten sich mehrere Zentren der bundesrepublikanischen Soziologie. Neben den Frankfurtern Theodor W. Adorno und Max Horkheimer und dem Münsteraner Helmut Schelsky war es René König, der in Köln die Soziologie neu ausrichtete und wesentlichen Anteil an ihrer Institutionalisierung und Professionalisierung hatte. Oft wurde im Zusammenhang dieser „Ausgangskonstellation“ (Lepsius) von „drei Soziologien“ (Dahrendorf) gesprochen, wobei auch explizit von einer „Kölner Schule“ die Rede war. Inwiefern kann jedoch von einer bundesrepublikanischen „Kölner Schule“ tatsächlich ausgegangen werden? Der folgende Beitrag möchte die verbreitete Bezeichnung „Kölner Schule“ sowie deren Merkmale kritisch hinterfragen und diskutieren. Nach einer Auseinandersetzung mit soziologiegeschichtlichen Konzepten zur Erfassung wissenschaftlicher Kollektive wird anhand des soziologischen Schulenbegriffs geprüft, ob die Kölner Soziologie von 1945 bis Mitte der 1970er-Jahre zentrale Kriterien einer Schule erfüllt hat. Dabei wird erstens René König als „charismatischer Stifter“ der kognitiven Leitideen (sowohl theoretischer als auch methodischer Art) der Kölner Soziologie positioniert. Zweitens werden die Institutionalisierungs- und Professionalisierungsprozesse in Köln und deren Öffentlichkeitswirkung anhand einer knappen Geschichte des Instituts, der Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie (KZfSS) sowie einiger weiterer „Flaggschiffpublikationen“ wie das Fischer-Lexikon und das Handbuch der empirischen Sozialforschung skizziert. Drittens wird auf die Bindung weiterer soziologischer Akteure (Schüler) durch die Lehre René Königs eingegangen. Wie bei dem Lexikon, den Handbüchern oder der KZfSS (und insbesondere ihrer Sonderhefte) zeigt sich eine breite Palette an Themen und Schülern, die der üblichen Reduzierung des Kerns der „Kölner Schule“ auf empirische Sozialforschung nicht gerecht wird. Der Beitrag zeigt stattdessen, dass der schulenbildende Kern der Kölner Soziologie vielmehr in der von König ins Leben gerufenen, dezidiert empirisch orientierten, problemzentrierten Ausdifferenzierung, Spezialisierung und Professionalisierung der bundesrepublikanischen Soziologie gesehen werden muss. Insofern umfasste die von König initiierte „Kölner Schule“ durchaus die Kriterien eines soziologiegeschichtlichen Schulenbegriffs, was aber aus heutiger Sicht aufgrund der schlussendlichen Popularisierung und Veralltäglichung ihrer Leitideen im soziologischen Betrieb aus dem Blick geriet.

Abstract:

Visualization and mappings of mathematical data and transformations to geometric objects are important tools in any area of mathematics. Directed graphs have been used in linear algebra since D. König in the early 20th century. In this paper, we aim to give interpretations of such graphs and related data arrangements which project linear algebra to graph theory ‒ definitions of linear functional graphs. The results were obtained by applying discrete modelling techniques to objects of linear algebra. Linear functional graphs can be used in linear algebra courses to teach the theory of linear mappings, matrix multiplication and determinants. This technique can make linear algebra learning visual and suitable for some learners.

Abstract:

In 1886, Arthur König suggested that some perspective view of the chromaticity diagram might represent equally noticably different pairs of colors by equally spaced points. Judd published the first diagram on which that was attempted. A diagram based on Judd’s was recommended in 1960 by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). The ratio of maximum-to-minimum radii of ellipses of equal noticeability was reduced on it from ~30:1 to ~7:1. In its 1976 recommendation, the CIE increased the vertical dimension by 50%. The ratio of maximum-to-minimum radii is still ~7:1. To do much better, it would be necessary to use a diagram that is not flat. Such a diagram is unusable. We can only hope to find a formula that will express every color difference in terms of differences of locations of points in the chromaticity diagram. Chickering published a formula (FMC1) that closely approximates the ellipses. The greatest ratio of corresponding radii is ~1.4:1. A formula to replace all previous formulas should be similarly derived from color-difference ellipsoids that represent observations by at least three observers who have normal color vision. Those ellipsoids should be obtained around at least twenty-five well-distributed chromaticities. At least ten should be obtained at three or more luminancefactor levels.

Abstract:

<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The current development trends for high performance two-stroke engines have been identified in raising combustion pressures and therefore higher cylinder temperatures [<span class="xref">1</span>] [<span class="xref">2</span>]. Thus, the requirements on piston assembly are increased in such a way that pistons based on aluminium-silicon alloys – as most commonly used in high performance two-stroke engines - reach their application limit. A suitable solution has been shown by research work such as that conducted by Mahle König, by using a piston consisting of different materials. With this approach, the higher stressed piston crown consists of steel, while the lower stressed piston skirt is made out from aluminium. Previous basic examinations showed the high potential of the hybrid piston concept in terms of pressure and temperature increase, while also showing the need for a temperature-stable and pressure-tight joint between crown and skirt.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper will focus on the development of two novel hybrid-piston concepts, where the piston crown and the piston skirt are connected in different ways. The first hybrid concept presented uses the piston pin in order to realize a plugconnection between piston crown and piston skirt (a conjunction hereafter known as <b>plug-connection</b>). A second approach is a material joint between piston crown and piston skirt, with the result that the two parts are integrally joined to one another (a conjunction hereafter known as <b>multimaterial joint</b>). During the predevelopment phase the design and dimensioning of the hybrid concepts were carried out with reference to mechanical and thermal operation loads, as well as joining aspects.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">A specific joining concept using a bimetal transition joint was created, along with the development of a special adapted laser beam welding procedure. The multi-material joint properties were further verified by FEM simulations as well as by mechanical and thermal tests. Finally, hybrid-piston prototypes were produced in time for first bench tests. In this paper the design concept of the hybrid piston and the joining technology will be presented, along with the results of FEM simulations and material testing.</div></div>

Abstract:

IntroductionDigital assistant systems (DAS) can support tasks by mediating between complex data and users, promoting continuous learning and on-the-job training (Jwo et al., 2021; Longo et al., 2017; Prinz et al., 2017). Integrating a DAS into surgical instrument reprocessing, where instrument-specific and complex manual tasks need to be performed strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions, can be advantageous. In Germany, reprocessing by trained on-the-job personnel is common. In addition, human factors are often neglected in the instructions for instrument reprocessing (Choi et al., 2017). A cooperative robot can be a valuable addition to mitigate health risks associated with handling contaminated surgical instruments during reprocessing, resulting in a cyber-physical assistance system (Heibeyn et al., 2021). However, it is unclear how the transition from paper-based instructions to either a DAS or a DAS supplemented with a cooperative robot assistance (“cyber-physical assistance system” – CPAS) affects usability for complex and workpiece-specific tasks in instrument reprocessing. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the differences in usability with different assistance systems for typical tasks in instrument reprocessing for untrained personnel.MethodsWe conducted an interaction-centered user study with 13 participants unfamiliar with the reprocessing tasks. The participants were asked to complete typical reprocessing tasks three times in a random order, using different assistance approaches each time. The reference process consisted of paper-based instructions that required stepping away from the workstation to retrieve information from the storage of guidelines, simulating common set-ups of current reprocessing processes. The first assistance approach presented digital instructions right at the workstation. The second assistant combined a cooperative robot with digital instructions. The robot performed simple processing steps, while the human operator focused on the complex tasks and verified the cleaning success. We measured the required time, counted user errors and rated the criticality, measured the perceived workload using the NASA-TLX questionnaire (NASA, 2020), and documented the remarks of the participants using the thinking-out-loud method for all assistance systems.Results The NASA-TLX did not reveal any significant differences among the three systems, however, the CPAS reduced the number of critical errors. The errors included omitted processing steps and deviations from required times, which could pose risks to patients. The DAS was perceived as a suitable way to check instructions, based on the participants’ comments. However, in the case of the CPAS, some participants missed or ignored messages provided by the user interface.Discussion and ConclusionIn summary, the CPAS improved usability the most, improving effectiveness (number of errors) while maintaining the same efficiency (total duration). Although our study found promising results for integrating a DAS or CPAS into on-the-job training assistance for novice personnel, future studies should compare the results obtained from inexperienced to those of experienced users to fully assess the usability of related approaches. Abstract:

The royal name borne by the third and fifth king of the VI dynasty is either read (a) Ppy (Ppjj) or (b) Pjpj. Even though the earlier option appears to represent better the actual hieroglyphic writing, the latter fits it no less, and there are parallels for either reading among hypocoristic names of the Old Kingdom with Ppy (Ppjj) belonging to a more common type than Pjpj. However, based on an analysis of hypocoristic names and the king list tradition down to Manetho, this royal name can be identified as a special kind of reduplicated hypocoristic name with a distinct stress pattern, which is characteristic for the Old Kingdom: Pjpj ~ *Păyắpăyă.

Abstract:

Mit der Eröffnung des Flughafens BER im Oktober 2020, dem Bau der Gigafactory von Tesla in Grünheide und der Microvast-Batteriefabrik in Ludwigsfelde beginnend im Sommer 2020 sind deutlich Signale für den Beginn einer neuen Phase der Entwicklung der Flughafenumfeldregion erkennbar. Konzeptionell begleitet wird dieser Prozess zunächst durch die Fortschreibung des Gemeinsamen Strukturkonzeptes der Flughafenregion. Sie wurde von der Kommunalen Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dialogforum Airport Berlin Brandenburg (KAG DF) im Jahr 2019 beauftragt und soll voraussichtlich im April 2021 abgeschlossen und bestätigt werden (vgl. Dialogforum-BER, 2020). Hinzu kommen die Grundlagenermittlung Verkehr Flughafenregion BER, die mit dem Bericht vom August 2019 abgeschlossen wurde, sowie der Dachmarkenprozess „Entwicklungsstrategie und Dachmarkenkonzeption für die Technologie- und Wissenschaftsregion Zeuthen – Wildau – Königs Wusterhausen“, der im Jahr 2019 begann und dessen Ergebnisse im Sommer 2020 veröffentlicht wurden. Schließlich beauftragte das Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur des Landes Brandenburg die Technische Hochschule Wildau Ende 2019 mit der Analyse der Flughafenumfeldregion BER, für die die Frage nach der Beschaffenheit und Ansätzen einer Stärkung des Wissenschafts- und Technologiepotenzials der Region leitend war. Mit der Analyse sollten die Perspektiven verschiedener Akteur/innen, insbesondere aus den Bereichen Wirtschaftspolitik und Wirtschaftsförderung sowie Wissenschaft, auf die Region erhoben, aktuelle Projekte gesichtet und der Stand von Entwicklungsvorhaben, die mit der Entwicklung der Region in Zusammenhang stehen, ermittelt werden.
