Abstract:
The topic of this thesis is geometry, its practical usage in architect’s profession (especially its application in computer design and realization of buildings) and its current way of teaching at schools of architecture. The thesis systematically describes geometric objects’ construction and properties, its modelling in CAD systems and examples of its usage in architecture, in some cases including the way of its realization. Geometric objects are systematically organized into chapters about point, curves, surfaces and solids. The outcome of the thesis is a concept of geometry courses modification in the way that they encourage the spatial imagination development instead of “drill” and the gained knowledge is directly useful in architect’s profession. A supplementary research (in appendix) analyses the state-of-the-art of teaching of geometry at selected schools of architecture in Europe and its effect to spatial imagination development. The research was focused at contents and form of the selected geometry courses and its influence to spatial imagination.

Steel load-bearing structure of a museum will serve to exhibit the museum's exhibits and organizing exhibitions for the public. The structure is elliptical in shape with a length of 30 m in direction of the major axis and 22 m in the direction of the minor axis. Construction height is 9 m. There is located gallery structure in the inner part of the museum with access by an internal staircase. The main load-bearing elements of museum structure are designed from steel S235. The roof deck is made from Kingspan panels and cladding consists of laminated safety glass.

Main concern of the thesis is a structural design of main load bearing elements of steel, four-storey high administration building. Designed building has 36 m long and 24 m wide rectangular footprint. Roof is shaped into a hyperbolic paraboloid surface. Main load bearing structure is consisting of six main cross sections formed by truss columns, and generally curved roof truss beams, accompanied by storey supporting frames with composite slabs. Overall shape of the roof is defined by warped surface. Cladding of the building is consisting of aluminium facade system.

This diploma thesis deals with the numerical modeling of the nail joint of the timber roof structure and it is based on the already realized physical experiment. Totally twelve various solutions, where the isotropic and ortotropic characteristics of the spruce timber and steel components change, have been created. The final values of the joint shift obtained by using of the numerical modeling are compared with results of physical experiment. Program system ANSYS is used.

This theses deals with a structural design comparison of heat insulations implementation in flat roofs in light of heat engineering. It also adverts to possible structural design in terms of heat insulations distribution in a flat roof. There are many materials options. I show the possibilities of material solution and also advantages and disadvantages of the single sealing materials at these layers. In the aplication part of this thesis I deal with possible concepts of insulation and solution for a specific roof of an older apartment house in Brno, where I conducted a constructive exploration. There was developed and evaluated a few options of solutions considering the heat insulator used. The following computational programs were used for the evaluations: TEPLO, AREA, CUBE 3D.

Industrial hall with storage outbuilding. The length of the hall is 72 meters and width of 30 meters. The main hall has a span 24 meters and the outbuilding has a span 6m. The distance between primary steel frame is 6 meters. The height of the main hall is 10.7 meters and a height of outbuilding is 13.0 metres. The roof is flat with roof slope of 3.5% the main hall and 8.75% outbuilding. The structural system of the hall's bar structure. Primary steel frame is designed as a steel frame rafter with eaves haunch. In the roof structure are designed purlins. The stability of the structure is secured by roof braces and longitudinal braces. The hall is pin-supported on the foundation pad. The hall is clad wall and roof panels PUR. Main hall is equipped with a bridge crane with capacity of 8 tons.

The matter of this thesis is static design and examination of prestressed storage tank to 50000 tons of sugar. Computational model of the steel roof structure is processed and its effect on the silos. Loads is provided of sugar. Optimal design is performed and assessment ultimate and serviceability limit state reinforced concrete and prestressing horizontal silo wall including local load. Next, it is performed the design of a reinforced concrete of the plane bed and column and assessment at the ultimate limit state. The thesis is also drawing documentation, technical report and visualization of construction process. The aim of this work is to the design of the main components based on the required storage capacity tank, mechanical properties of the stored material and technical amenities.

This diploma thesis deals with problem of design and calculation of membrane structure of stadium roof. This is a complex engineering problem, which includes many partial problems: finding of initial form of membrane, statically and architecturally suitable arrangement of catenaries, economical solution of boundary conditions (foundations). All components affect each other and cannot be dealt without mutual coordination. It always greatly depends on the experience and intuition of engineer who design such structure. Task which cannot be resolved according to the theory of the first order. Equilibrium forces on the deformed structure, which in many projected structures gives satisfactory results, did not correspond to reality. It is therefore necessary to consider equilibrium of forces on the deformed structure according to the theory of large deformations. Diploma thesis was entered with regard to the intention of the companies Ing. Software Dlubal s.r.o. and FEM consulting s.r.o., working together to develop software RFEM. These companies plan to complement this program system with a module MEMBRANE for searching of initial shapes of membrane structures. This work is a contribution to the creation of this module.

The object of thesis is estimation of the normal price for property type of apartment in Hradec Králové, including finding of the extent to which is the normal price influenced by the type of supporting structure. A partial task is valuation of selected apartments using different valuation methods. The solution task were used the price regulation methods – cost method and comparative method and market valuation methods – yield method and the direct comparison method of valuation, which is estimated market value. Finally the thesis contain a recapitulation of prices and analysis of detected differences.

The object of the diploma thesis is the design and the assessment of the steel structure for rally team base in Napajedla, which contains the space for the administration and the space for the service hall. The overall ground plan proportions of the structure are 30 x 26 metres. The structure for administration is the four-storey building. The ground plan proportions of this structure are 30 x 12 metres and the height is 14.5 metres. The ground floor grid of the main load-bearing structure is 6 x 6 metres. The height of the one floor of the structure is 3.5 metres. The structure of ceilings and roof is designed like composite steel and concrete structure. All joints of the steel structure for administration are designed like bolted joints. The spatial rigidity of the structure is ensured by vertical wall truss bracings and by the rigidity of composite steel and concrete structure of ceillings and roof. To the structure for the administration is connected structure for the service hall. The ground plan proportions of this structure are 30 x 14 metres and the height is 10.5 metres. The main structure of the structure for service hall is frame with the rigid joint in the corner of the frame. The axial distance of the main structures is 6 metres. All joints including the rigid joint in the corner of the frame of the steel structure for service hall are designed like bolted joints. The spatial rigidity of the structure is ensured by vertical wall truss bracings and horizontal roof truss bracings. The whole structure is designed of steel S355.

The thesis theme is a carpentry production facility with the adjacent office building at Slané. The thesis deals about the proposal of the object with building and construction solutions of the building. The thesis includes a detialed solution of the exhaustion ventilation the technology part of the carpentry. In the office building there is a reception in the 1st floor and the exhibition spaces. The vertical communication in the building is solved by two-arm straight starcases, one in office building and the second in the annexe hall for the employes. The construction system of the hall is reinforced concrete prefabricated system with advanced prestressed girders. Office building is designed like a reinforced concrete monolithic frame. Buildings are divided by dilatation. The object is based on the footings which are connected to base thresholds. The rooftops of the objects are flat.

It is a new kindergarten in semi developed area. The building is located in Southern Bohemia in the village Strakonice. Kindergarten is divided to two buildings, the garden house and kindergarten. The building has only one floor and a without basement. In object kindergarten is the main building and two individual pavilions. In the main building is office for headmistress of the school, utility room, workshop, cloakroom for employees, store dirty laundry, food warehouses and food preparation and sanitary facilities. From the connecting corridors to get to the individual departments, where you can find children's cloakroom, toilet and washroom for children, isolation room, storage beds and bedding, office for teacher, WC for teacher, store toys and games room and place to relax for children. Pavilion A is the same as pavilion B, only mirrored. The building is based on the footings of plain concrete class C20/25. It is a brick structure of building system called LIVETHERM. Building has a flat roof and roof aisle also with slope 7 ° and 10 . Aisle roof is made of wooden glued trusses. Roofing is made up of modified bitumen belt. Built-up area is 947.6 square meters

The building is designed for sales and service of car . In front of the first floor is a shop with WC intended for the customers. Behind this section is on the first floor the facilities for employees , WC , kitchen, two showers and changing rooms . There is also a quick intake for 2 cars. On the second floor are located the office with separate WC . For this part of the building is the last part of a car dealership and service. Here you will find desktop with three separate workning places , part intended for minor repairs , drive trough car wash , paint shop , utility room and a spare parts warehouse . The structural system of the building consists of a steel construction with reinforcing brick core . The cladding of first floor consists from infill brickwork Heluz 20 with contact insulation system . The cladding of second floor from bearing brickwork Heluz P15 30 with a contact insulation system . The construction of the roof deck consists of single-layer straight roof . The supporting structure is made of concrete slab concreting trapezoidal sheet metal deposited on steel lattice girders. The roof deck is insulated with polystyrene EPS 150S . Upper floor is used like loocker room and washroom and in the top floor are excercise halls. Subject of my thesis is the design and preparation of project documentation for building permit municipal library land parcel. no. 885/1,. The building is designed in accordance with the master plan of the town dissertation received. It is situated so as not to disrupt local development. Its shape and because it is designed to fit into the local structure. Further emphasis on ensuring the structure after the static, architectural, energy saving and safety in use of the building. The building has four floors with a flat roof on three levels. It is a monolithic skeletal structure. Layout 1st floor is composed of hall with information, bookstore and multi-purpose hall. In the 2nd floor there is a borrowing of books for children and youth with stationery (copycentrum). In the 3rd floor is located also borrowing books, but this time for adults. 4th floor consists of the administration of the library. Each floor has restrooms for visitors and staff, storage and archives. The entire building is designed as a barrier.

The aim of the final thesis was to design and check the steel loadbearing structure of the exhibition pavilon. The basis for the structural design was a specified building layout. The assessment of the structure was made according to valid czech and european standards, including the system of "Eurocodes". Construction is situated in Zlin. The rectangular plan of the building is 45,0 m wide and 48,0 m long. The peripheral field of the roof is flat, while the central field is designed as a barrel roof. Main truss was designed with 6,0 m centre to centre distance. Structural design of the main loadbearing elements was made by the Dlubal RFEM v.5.07 software. Selected structure elements, including joints and column anchors were verified manualy.

The topic of this diploma thesis is design of new production hall in the cadastral area of city Hrusinec. The building is located in an existing industrial area. The building consists of two adjacent structures. The higher of them is single-story production hall and the lower is three-story high office building. In horizontal plane the buildings have rectangular shape. Hall part is designed as a steel structure on foundation blocks. Roof is supported by truss girders. Office building is designed as a monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton also on foundation blocks. The flat roof of the office building is a single-layer with typical composition. Functionally, the building is designed as a single unit. The total employee capacity is approximately 54 workers.

The theme of the master´s theses is to design a wooden structure of city theater with internal steel construction. The concept of wooden structure is developed in two versions according to standard ČSN EN. The theses solve the static effect of the construction and design of individual parts and materials. Theater has dimensions 49.0 x 25.6 m, max. height of 12.5 meters. The construstion is devise to withstand a weight and applicability. The supporting structure of the roof is solved using by 13 arched plate girders. The second variant is designed as arched truss girders. The gable wall is glassed-in, glass envelopes support by wooden structure with columns and side runners. The work also includes solutions for joins and construction details. The structure was solved in the program RSTAB Dlubal 8. The assessment of the components was done using additional module TIMBER Pro. First Variant of plate girder was checking by manual report. The work includes drawings.

A production hall with a floor plan dimensions 24x50 m and an administrative building with floor plan dimensions 54x30 m. Both buildings are situated in Prostějov. The structure of the production hall has a roof pitched at 12%. The main frames have 6 m centre to centre spacing. The design of the production hall is processed in two options. The administrative building has 4 floors. The floor structures are made of composite steel and concrete structure. The structure is stabilized by vertical bracings in both directions. The computational model of both structures was built up using SCIA Engineer software.

The goal of this diploma thesis is a design study and project documentation for a new-building of a kindergarten in a city of Prešov (city part Solivar), Slovakia. The kindergarten will be a institution for pre-school education for children from 3 to 6 years old. The projects of the kindergarten building consist of one classroom for children within the age from 3-4, one classroom, for children within the age from 4-5 and third classroom for children from 5-6 years old. The designed object also contains janitor’s room and closet, laundry room, director’s office and a community room for cultural happenings held by kindergarten. Parking spaces are designed outside, in front of the building next to the main entrance. The playground is placed on the south-west side. The building of a kindergarten is designed as monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton structure with longitudinal beams. The circumferential walls will be made of ceramic bricks with a contact thermal insulation ETICS system. Ceilings are designed as a monolithic reinforced concrete. Over the 2nd floor, there will be a saddle roof and the roof over the first floor will be flat, with a gravel layer. Foundings of the building are designed as a concrete strips which expand to pads under columns.

The topic of this thesis is a new-building of a hotel with a wellness centre. The building site is located in the cadastral area of Malenovice near Zlín, the city of Zlín, Zlín Region. It is the building consisting of three rectangles inserted into each other. The building is designed as a six-floor skeletal construction with a cellar made of reinforced concrete, roofed with flat roofs. In the first floor there is a reception, a restaurant with outside seating, wellness centre, and utility rooms. The second and the third floor are intended for accommodation of guests in the form of double rooms and apartments. In the fourth and fifth floors there are double rooms as well. Rooms for guests and apartments are situated to the southern and northern part. This residential space is mostly equipped with balconies stretching along the corners. In the last, sixth floor there can be found the management of the hotel, a conference room and a bar with terrace. The main entrance is situated to the northern part of the object. Outdoor parking places are also a part of the hotel. Exterior and interior of the hotel are designed in the conformity with current modern trends. The layout of the space is functional and basic. The dynamics of the building is supported by external holes in black colour and by the two-coloured facade in blue and grey colours. The hotel is meant for both active and passive relaxation, there is a possibility of accommodation of young couples, families with children, elderly people, individuals, and people with limited ability of movement. The hotel of designed with the focus on the comfort of guests. Therefore the leisure time space is a part of hotel. The comfortable space for relaxation within the object is provided by the wellness centre mentioned above, the bar with terrace, and an outdoor swimming pool. The topic of this thesis is a project documentation of a Retirement home located in Prague in Novodvorská street. The building is designed as a stand-alone building with five floors of a rectangular ground plan with a receding fifth storey. The retirement home is divided into a public section - a pharmacy and a part for clients - accommodation, leisure time including facilities - a restaurant with a kitchen, a laundry room. The construction system is designed as a reinforced concrete monolitic skeleton with rectanguplar columns and the filling structures are made of ceramic blocks. The building is based on reinforced concrete footings. A waterproof concrete is proposed for the lift shaft, and the foundation sills are designed for the perimeter masonry. Roofing of the 4th and 5th floor is a warm flat roof. In the 4th floor roofing section, the roof is made as a concrete tiles paving. The main entrance to the building is from southwest and the access to the building is from the northwest side where there is a parking lot for employees and clients.

On many structures there ocurred a problem of expanded polystyrene-based thermal insulation material degradation caused by high temperatures close to glazed areas. In a theoretical part of this Master’s Thesis there are the most common thermal insulation materials described, followed by a brief desciption of flat roof waterproofing materials and a thermal stress of structures. An experimental part describes a design of a methodology for evaluation of thermal resistance properties of foamed insulants in flat roofs and several experiments carried out according to the methodology.
