Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2013.ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis explores the representation of women, identity and education in the works of Tsitsi Dangarembga, Nervous Conditions (1989) and The Book of Not (2006), and Kopano Matlwa, Coconut (2007) and Spilt Milk (2010), through the lens of postcolonial studies. The arguments presented deal with the complicated factors associated with the formation of new identities in independent Zimbabwe and post-apartheid South Africa. I focus on how African women are represented in the texts taking place at particular socio-historical moments, including implications and interpretations of the literal and cultural shift from the indigenous, rural or segregated environments to Western, urban and racially mixed ones. My argument outlines the ways in which the stories are allegorically the stories of the fledgling democracies from which they emerge. I explore the texts in terms of symbolics of food, language, accents, family, academic settings, and the liberating and limiting elements associated with each. The authors present a complicated reality for the women of the novels, one where education is prioritized although somewhat to the detriment of traditional values and norms. The representation of women in the novels varies, leaving few successful role models for navigating workable identities for the characters as mothers, wives, and autonomous individuals. The novels offer interesting imaginaries for the future of their respective countries. The texts promote education tempered with a respect for home cultures and racial reconciliation.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie tesis ondersoek die uitbeelding van vroue, identiteit en opvoeding in die werke van Tsitsi Dangarembga en Kopano Matlwa vanuit die oogpunt van postkoloniale studies. Die voorgestelde argument hou verband met die ingewikkelde faktore van identiteit-vorming in 'n onhafhanklike Zimbabwe en 'n post-Apartheid Suid-Afrika. Ek fokus op die uitbeelding van swart vroue in hierdie tekste wat gedurende spesifiek sosio-historiese oomblikke plaas vind. Dit sluit in die gevolge en interpretasies van letterlike en kulterele verskuiwings vanaf inheemse, landelike en gesegregeerde omgewings tot Westerse, stedelike en veelrassige omgewings. My argument sit uit een hoe hierdie vroue se stories as allegorieë vir die jong demokratiese lande waaruit hul na vore kom, beskou kan word. Ek verken die tekste ook in terme van die simboliek van voedsel, taal, aksent, familie en opvoeding, en fokus verder op die bevrydende en beperkende elemente van elk. Die skrywers bied 'n ingewikkelde werkliheid vir vrouens in die romans aan, een waar opvoeding 'n prioriteit is, maar ietwat tot die nadeel van tradisionele waardes en norme. Die uitbeelding van vrouens in die romans wissel en bied min suksesvolle rolmodelle aan waarvolgens die karakters identiteite soos moeder, vrou en selfstandige individue kan vorm. Die tekste bevorder wel die verkryging van 'n volledige opvoeding, maar nie tot nadeel van tradisionele kulture, of die moontlikheid van rasseversoening nie. Beide die romans bied 'n interessante blik op die toekomste vir die onderskeie lande dur hierdie uibeelding van die vroulike karakters.

Thesis (M. A. (English Studies)) --University of Limpopo, 2018This study seeks to examine the concept of identity in the post-colonial South Africa. Like any other African state, South Africa was governed by a colonial strategy called apartheid which meted out harsh conditions on black people. However, the indomitable system of apartheid was subdued by the leadership of the people, which is democracy in 1994. Notwithstanding the dispensation of democracy, colonial legacies such as inequality, racial discrimination and poverty are still yet to be addressed. As mirrored in Sindiwe Magona’s Beauty’s Gift (2008) and Mother to Mother (1998) and Kopano Matlwa’s Coconut (2008) and Spilt Milk (2010), the colonial past perhaps paved a way for social issues to warm their way into the democratic South Africa. This study will use the aforementioned novels penned in the post-colonial period to present an evocation of identity-crisis in South Africa. It will then employ these methodological approaches; Afrocentricity, Feminism, Historical-biographical and Post-Colonial Theory to assert and re-assert the identity that South Africans have acquired subsequent to the political transition from apartheid to democracy. An analysis of the preoccupation writers of South African fiction display after the process started by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is vital in post-apartheid South African writing. It becomes clear that a fascination with the past is not bound to any one specific racial or gender group within post-apartheid South Africa. Authors can therefore be said to continue the excavation work that the TRC started many years ago. The severe impact that the rigid classification of human beings into different groups based on race had, and continues to have, becomes evident in contemporary South African writing. The fact that white privilege always comes at a cost for those wanting to attain or maintain it cannot be overlooked and whiteness as a construct is examined.

This study explores the crisis of representation in black South African protest and ‘post’-apartheid literature. Conversant with the debates on the crisis of representation in black South African protest literature from the 1960s to the late 1980s, the dissertation proposes a re-reading of the ‘crisis’ by locating it in the black writer’s struggle for an aesthetic with which to express the existential crisis of blackness. I contend that not only protest but also contemporary or ‘post’-protest black South African literature exhibits a split or fractured mode of writing which is characterised by the displacement/unheimlichheid produced by colonialism and apartheid, as well as by the contentious nature of that which this literature endeavours to capture – the fraught identity of blackness. In my exploration of the split or double narratives of Mongane Serote’s To Every Birth Its Blood, K. Sello Duiker’s Thirteen Cents, and Kopano Matlwa’s Coconut, I examine the representation of blackness through the themes of violence, trauma, powerlessness, failure, and unhomeliness/unbelongingness – all of which suggest the lack of a solid foundation upon which to construct a stable black identity. This instability, I ultimately argue, suggests a move beyond an Afrocentric perspective on identity and traditional tropes of blackness towards a more processual, fluid, and permeable post-black politics.

Tato diplomová práce se snaží předpovědět velikost ekonomického dopadu v případě pořádání Mistrovství Evropy v kopané na území České republiky. Vytváří přitom čtyři varianty ? optimistickou a pesimistickou variantu pod vlivem cestovního ruchu a to v případě pořádání akce samostatně či ve spolupráci s jinou zemí. V první části zkoumá přímé dopady konání ? růst HDP. V druhé části, za využití meziodvětvové analýzy, se pokouší zjistit, jak velký by byl dopad nepřímý ? obrat HDP. K výpočtu přímých dopadů sumarizuje poznatky z analýz o výstavbě nových stadionů a očekávaný přínos z cestovního ruchu. V závěrečné části nastiňuje, zda by byly jednotlivé municipality schopné vynaložit prostředky na výstavbu stadionů a potřebné infrastruktury. Vzhledem k tomu, že do současné doby jsem nedohledal žádnou studii, která by se týkala přímo tohoto tématu, považuji právě tento fakt za největší přínos této analýzy.

The topic of my master's thesis is a concept and evaluation of a new steel construction of a foot bridge for pedestrians and cycles across the river Morava. The concept has two alternatives. Option 1: The foot bridge has three spans. The span lengths are 27+81+27m, the middle span is stiffened by an arc. There is a bridge deck that consists of a cellular beam which is locked onto the arc. The bridge deck is lower, steel and orthotropic. The arrangement of rods is radial. Option 2: The middle span is stiffened by two arcs bowed to each other. The bridge deck consists of two beams with crossbeams and is locked onto the arcs. The bridge deck is again lower, steel and orthotropic. The arrangement of rods is radial. The wind bracing has a shape of a Vierendeel beam.

KOPIO is an experiment designed to search for the CP-symmetry-violating
reaction K^0 -> pi^0+nu+nubar. Measurement of the branching ratio of this reaction, depending on
the accuracy of the measurement, could be the most precise measurement of the CP violation
parameters of the Standard Model to date. The K^0 -> pi^0+nu+nubar reaction is
exceedingly rare, with an expected branching ratio of (3 ± 2)⋅10^(−11) . The rareness of this
reaction means two things: 1) that we need prodigious numbers of kaons, and 2) that a
multitude of â improperâ decays will have to be screened out by means of a veto detector
system, part of which is being designed here at Virginia Tech.
This detector must be able to detect the passage of daughters of the undesired
decay reactions (charged particles and gammas). It must be operational inside a magnetic
field, and must have signal timing fast enough to accommodate the rate at which these
decays occur. A detector consisting of alternating layers of scintillator and lead, with
wavelength-shifting fibers embedded in the scintillator, provides the characteristics
sought after. This paper presents methodology used in design and construction of this
detector, as well as results of signal property tests, using both cosmic rays and gammas as
event triggers. Also included is a discussion on transporting the detector signal outside of
the magnetic field so it can be read by photomultiplier tubes resting outside of the
sweeping magnet.Master of Science

Festivals, including arts festivals, have a long history of acting as special slices of space and time to commemorate or celebrate cultural occasions (Getz, 2007, p. 11). Getz’ views events and festivals as ‘special places’ and ‘other spaces’ that exist in a ‘time out of time’. Despite the proliferation of arts festivals across the globe over the past few decades, there is a lack of articulated and documented approaches with regard to sets of general principles to guide the way in which arts festivals can be structured so as to best activate the special place of a ‘heterotopia’, which can be also be described as an ‘other’ place, similar to Getz’s notion. This dissertation proposes a framework for organising arts festivals that enhances the idea of festivals being special slices of space and time by using the EMBOK Design Domain. It provides a theoretical toolkit for future festival coordinators to be able to theoretically activate heterotopic principles of space and time. In particular, this dissertation considers the 2013-2015 Krêkvars-Kopanong Student Arts Festivals hosted by the Drama Department of University of Pretoria, South Africa.
To create this framework, the dissertation first considers the notion of the festival as heterotopia – supporting Getz’s idea that festivals are special places and spaces. The dissertation uses Michel Foucault's six principles of heterotopia to explore the relationship between festivals, space, and time. The dissertation extends Foucault’s theorisation of heterotopia by introducing the concept of ‘splace’. ‘Splace’ is an important concept in order to understand the complexity of, and conceptual interface between, space and place.
Secondly, the dissertation considers the Event Management Book of Knowledge (EMBOK), a formal methodology for event coordination that consists of varied spheres of management, known as domains, such as administration, marketing, operations, risk and design. This dissertation argues that the strategic use of the EMBOK Design Domain may activate heterotopic principles when used as part of the process of planning and organising the Krêkvars-Kopanong Student Arts Festival. The Design Domain largely relates to decisions around the creative content of an event. The two main components of this framework, heterotopia and EMBOK, could together form an approach for the Krêkvars-Kopanong Student Arts Festival organiser to enhance the special slice of time and space that the festival occupies – creating heterotopia. The findings of the research can be extrapolated to a broader context by applying the framework to the way design decisions are made in other festivals.Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2018.

The thesis deals with the influence of European cup competitions on competitive balance within national leagues. The importance of competitive balance in sports leagues is highlighted and its vulnerability to the growing differences in revenues between the clubs I discussed. The main part of the thesis provides an analysis of specifics of English, German and Spanish football league. It focuses on the differences in revenue structure and revenue level between clubs within the league, as well as between the leagues. The paper analyzes the influence of participating in European cups on club revenues and the connection between growing revenues with the development of competitive balance.

Une souche bactérienne identifée comme Paracoccus zeaxanthinifaceans subsp. Payriae a été isolée à partir de prélèvements réalisés sur des tapis microbiens "kopara" sur les atolls de Polynésie française. Cette souche produit, en conditions de laboratoire, un exopolysaccharide (EPS), un pigment, et des polyhydroxyalcanoates (PHA). L'EPS, de haut poids moléculaire et hautement sulfaté, présente une forte activité amincissante laissant présager de son développement rapide en cosmétique. Ses capacités de rétention de cations métalliques tels que le cuivre (Qmax = 625 mg g-1) et le fer (Qmax = 385 mg g-1) permettent d'envisager un développement dans les domaines de l'environnement et de la santé. Le pigment associé à cet EPS lors de la fermentation, est composé à plus de 90% de all-trans-zéaxanthine de configuration absolue (3R, 3'R). Ce composé optiquement actif est très recherché pour la protection de l'oeil et de la peau face aux rayonnements UV. Enfin les plastiques biodégradables que représentent les PHA sont d'un intérêt majeur en terme d'environnement. Leur mode de production écologique pourrait leur permettre de se substituer à courte échéance aux plastiques synthétiques. Ces résultats représentent la première valorisation d'un microorganisme issu du "kopara" et sont à considérer comme le point de départ d'un nouvel axe d'exploitation des ressources maritimes de la PolynésieA new bacterical identified as Paracoccus zeaxanthinifaceans subsp. Payriae has been isolated from microbial mats known as "kopara", which are located on several Polynesian atolls. Under laboratories conditions, this strain produces metabolites of biotechnological interest including an exopolysaccharide (EPS), a bacterial pigment determined as zeaxanthin and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). The high molecular weight and highly sulfated (25% w/w) EPS exhibits very interesting biological activities and a further commercial developpement in the cosmetic area or as a slimmimng agent could be expected in the very near future. High heavy metal capacities were determined for both iron and copper and, therefore, this EPS may be useful in treatment of wastes and in other environmental or medical applications. The simultaneous synthesis of pure zeaxanthin in its active optical form could be of a great biotechnological interest for medical or cosmetic applications. Under specific conditions this bacterium was also shown to produce large amounts of polyhydroxyalkanoates with environmental applications. Microbial mats known as "kopara", located on several Polynesian atolls appears to be a source of unusual microorganisms and associated metabolites with biotechnological applications

Sur les atolls de l'archipel des Tuamotu (Polynésie française), des communautés microbiennes complexes rassemblant de nombreuses espèces de cyanobactéries, de micro-algues et de bactéries colonisent certaines mares d'eau saumâtre à salée. Elles sont appelées " kopara " par les habitants de l'archipel des Tuamotu et présentent une structure stratifiée due à la distribution des micro-organismes selon les gradients de lumière, d'humidité et d'anoxie. L'étude du " kopara " de quatre mares de l'atoll de Rangiroa a permis l'isolement de 7 cyanobactéries et 2 micro-algues eucaryotes. Ces 9 isolats monospécifiques non-axéniques ont été identifiés par une double approche combinant une analyse morphologique traditionnelle et une analyse phylogénétique basée sur les séquences partielles du gène de l'ARNr 16S. La mise en culture en photobioréacteurs clos des isolats a permis la production d'exopolysaccharides qui ont été caractérisés chimiquement (dosages colorimétriques, micro-analyse, spectroscopie infra-rouge et chromatographie en phase gazeuse) et dont les propriétés d'adsorption des métaux lourds ont été étudiéesComplex microbial mats constituted of many cyanobacteria, microalgae and bacteria colonize brackish to saline water ponds found on coral rims of atolls and are called "kopara" by the inhabitants of Tuamotu archipelago (French Polynesia). These mats exhibit a stratified structure due to vertical distribution of the constituting micro-organisms following vertical light, humidity and oxygen gradients. Seven cyanobacterial and two microalgal strains have been isolated from four "kopara" ponds located on Rangiroa atoll. These nine non-axenic isolates, each with a single species of cyanobacteria or algae have been identified using a polyphasic approach combining traditional morphological and molecular analyses based on partial 16S rRNA sequences. The isolates have been successfully cultured using laboratory closed photobioreactors and produced exopolysaccharides. These macromolecules have been chemically characterized using colorimetric assays, micro-analysis, infra-red spectrometry and gas chromatography, and their capacity of adsorbing heavy metals has been assessed

Le camfranglais est la langue parlée par les camerounais dans des contextes et situations informelles. Cette langue est composée du français, de l'anglais et des langues vernaculaires du pays. Après la colonisation et son impact sur la culture africaine, le seul moyen trouvé par les Camerounais afin de revendiquer leur "camerounité" et de s'y reconnaître fut de créer une langue propre à elle. An investigation of Piazza della Libertà in Trieste calls for a resurrection of its western garden along the harbour wall, and replacement of Sala Tripcovich, the former bus station which is used for theatre, with a new public building. The following project proposes a building with three small but different theatres for high-quality performances and lectures, a shared workshop, café, and a roof garden with views over the harbour wall. Its orientation on the site clarifies a path between the stations for trains and airport buses and the City's waterfront, and its V-shaped floor plans provide a wide range of spaces: from intimate and vertically entangled balconies to horisontally scattered rooms for gatherings, and slopes and terraces in the roof garden. Double-skin facades give a good acoustic environment, thermal insulation, and ventilation. The architecture intends to meaningfully reflect and catalyse the multiplicity of movements and city patterns at Piazza della Libertà.En undersökning av Piazza della Liberà i Trieste efterlyser en återupplivning av dess västra trädgård längs tullmuren, och ersättning av Sala Tripcovich, fd busstationen som används för teater, med en ny publik byggnad. Det följande projektet föreslår en byggnad med tre små men olika teatrar för högkvalitativa föreställningar och föreläsningar, en gemensam verkstad, café, och en takträdgård med utsikt över tullmuren mot hamnen. Dess orientering på platsen klargör en väg mellan stationerna för tåg och flygbussar och stadens sjösida, och dess V-formade våningsplan ger ett brett utbud av rum: från intima och vertikalt intrasslade balkonger till horisontellt utspridda rum för sammankomster, och sluttningar och terrasser i takträdgården. Dubbelfasader ger en bra akustisk miljö, värmeisolering, och ventilation. Despite the lack of evidence, a huge body of literature continues to suggest that there is a crisis of care for children who are orphaned by AIDS. Based on a study of Kopanong Municipality in Free State, this study investigated extended family care for orphans and other vulnerable children in the context of ubiquitous poverty and the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS. It asked whether the application of current welfare policies recognises or facilitates extended family care for orphans. The care for orphans has been conceptualised in terms of the lack of adequate number of members of extended family who would provide care for orphans and the quality of care which orphans receive from their carers. To address questions of care for orphans and implications for welfare policies, this study employed both quantitative and qualitative research techniques to gather information on the prevalence of orphans, their living conditions, and types of care and support available, available welfare services and access thereto.

My interest in this research was to interview leaders and members of the three
communities within the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality as well as officials of the
Regional Land Claims Commission (RLCC).
The purpose of the discussions was to find out how the communities involved
Government when lodging land claims. The three communities are, Bakwena Ba-
Kopa, Bakgaga Ba-Kopa and Masakaneng. The research yielded the following
findings: 1. All the three communities followed the correct procedures regarding the
relevant legislation and policies when they lodged their land claims. 2. Government played its role through the RLCC by assisting the communities in their endeavor to have their land restored. 3. In the interaction between Government and the communities challenges were encountered that at times led to the delay of the settlements. 4. When the communities keep patient during the land claim processes and
Government officials are dedicated to assist the communities, the chance of
positive outcomes is maximised.
There is evidence that Government made progress to ensure that the affected
communities have the dispossessed land restored. However, there is still a lot to be
done in addressing the outstanding issues. To handle these matters, as indicated
below, co-ordination and interaction between Government and the communities is
crucial.
One can point out these obstacles by focusing on the three affected communities
respectively. Masakaneng:
There is a need to tackle the challenge of the concerned group that led to the
emergence of another committee in the process. This delays the formal negotiations
with the municipality to help facilitate the delivery of the necessary services.
Bakwena Ba-Kopa:
The role-players missed the time-frames that were targeted for settlement.
Government will have to speed up the matter and finalise the settlement, seeing that
the beneficiaries have been waiting for many years.
Bakgaga Ba-Kopa:
Only portion one of RietKloof was restored to the community. The community is
eagerly awaiting Government to help facilitate the restoration of the remaining
portion. This community also needs to play its part in ensuring that the other sections
of the land are restored. It is important that they go back to the drawing board as
beneficiaries and tackle the prevailing differences so that they end up with a
unanimous stand on this matter.
To conclude: It is quite evident that the democratic government post-1994 is
committed and prepared to restore the dignity of the black people who were forcibly
removed from land they and their ancestors occupied. Government is assisting in
this matter by providing all the necessary resources to ensure that land restoration is
a success. For Government to succeed, the affected communities must also play
their role within the parameters of the relevant legislation. This is what the land Acts

The power utilities in Sweden are planning to replace the major part of thenuclear power plants with renewable energy resource by the year 2030. Some ofthe renewable energy resources are intermittent, which may endanger the powersystem stability. A solution to this problem could be increased exibility in theend-users consumption, which is known as demand response. This is a usefultool that can be used to facilitate the large integration of renewable energyresource into the power grid. Therefore, several of the Swedish governmentauthorities have stated that the possibilities for demand response should befurther investigated.During this thesis, a case study is carried out at Volvo Group Truck OperationsPowertrain Productions in Koping, with the purpose of deriving theirtechnical possibilities for DR in the factory. Volvo in Koping mainly producesgearboxes to all trucks within the Volvo Group concern and belongs to the engineeringindustry sector. The engineering industry has previously not beeninvestigated for DR purposes in Sweden. The main goal of the thesis is to derivethe DR capacity of the factory and the associated time parameters. Onlydemand response by shifting the production in time is considered.One production group (Midiblock 2) in the factory is modelled using MixedInteger Linear Programming and the optimization problem is used to minimizethe electricity cost while fullling the production requirements. The optimizationproblem is done on daily basis and the result is binary operating pointsfor CNC-machines. The output from the Mixed Integer Linear Programmingproblem is sent to a discrete event model, which is used to validate the resultsand display the optimal energy consumption.The simulation results indicates that the modelled production group can performa load shift of 270 kWh/h during 4 hours by scheduling production. Duringthe reduction it should be possible to perform actions such as maintenance andchanging settings of machines. If the results are true for the entire factory, theresulting load reduction is 1.35 MWh/h during 4 hours. However, the nancialincentives to perform load reductions are low. Also, Volvo in Koping does nothave any routines to shut-o the CNC-machines and an extensive work is requiredto make a load reduction possible. Resulting in that DR at the factory isat the moment unrealistic. In addition to the possibilities for DR, the possibleeconomic savings by shutting o the CNC-machines when they are not producingunits are also approximated. Volvo in Koping can save a large amount ofenergy and yearly cut the cost by at least 5 000 000 SEK on these actions, whichis also the rst step towards enabling DR in the factory.Elkraftsbolagen i Sverige planerar att ersätta kärnkraftverken med förnybaraenergikällor fram till och med år 2030. Några av de förnybara energikällornaär intermittenta i sin produktion och kan på grund av detta medföra en faraför stabilitet i kraftsystemet. En del av lösningen till detta problem kan varaefterfrågeflexibiltet, vilket innebär att el-användarna är mer flexibla i förbrukningenoch anpassar sig till viss del efter kraftsystemets tillstånd. Efterfrågeflexibiltetär ett användbart verktyg som kan underlätta integreringen av de förnybaraenergikällorna. På grund av detta har era svenska statliga företag sagtatt er undersökning bör genomföras inom området efterfrågeflexibiltet.Under detta arbeta har en fallstudie utförts hos Volvo Group Truck OperationPowertrain Production i Köping. Syftet av fallstudien har varit attundersöka möjligheterna för efterfrågeflexibilitet i fabriken. Optimeringsproblemetberäknas med elpriser för ett dygn och resultatet av problemet är binära tillståndför CNC-maskinerna i produktionsgruppen. De binära tillstånden skickas tillen diskret modell i Matlab som används för att verifiera produktionskraven ochvisa den resulterande energiförbrukningen för produktionsgruppen.Resultatet visar att det är teoretiskt möjligt att förytta 270 kWh/h underen period på 4 timmar genom att förskjuta produktion i tid. Under produktionsstoppenär det möjligt att genomföra underhåll och att förändring iinställningarna på CNC-maskinerna. Om resultaten skalas upp till hela fabrikenskulle den resulterande lastförflyttningen vara 1.35 MWh/h under 4 timmar.Dock så är de ekonomiska incitamenten låga och lastföryttningen är inteekonomiskt hållbar. Ett ytterligare problem är att Volvo i Köping förtillfälletinte har några rutiner för att stänga av maskinerna. Därför krävs det ett omfattandearbete innan det skulle vara möjligt att genomföra en lastförflyttning.Efterfrågeflexibiltet hos Volvo i Köping är därför orealistiskt. Utöver att undersöka möjligheterna för efterfrågeflexibiltet i fabriken, har en del av arbetetsom mål att undersöka de möjliga energi- och kostnadsbesparingar som skapasav att stänga av CNC-maskinerna när de inte producerar enheter. Arbetet harvisat att Volvo i Köping kan varje är spara 5 000 000 SEK på att stänga avmaskinerna, vilket också är ett första steg mot efterfrågeflexibilitet i fabriken.

This paper deals with testing the method Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) on the copy of the Piraeus-lion in Historic Museum in Stockholm. The purpose is to find out if it is possible to gather more information about the runic inscriptions. RTI is a method that records the surface normal of individual pixels in a digital photograph by analyzing the impact of light coming from different angles of entrance. RTI produces sort of a 3D-image of the object. There will be an overview of earlier interpretations of the runic scripts written on the lion as well as an overview of Varangians in the southeast. After examination of the lion with RTI, has a conclusion been made that the method should be performed again on similar items, and on the copy of the Piraeus-lion to evaluate its full potential.

Work objectives: My work objective is to analyze the scoring goals based on detailed watching of all the matches ofWorld Championship 2006. The players and t~ams in the offensive part ofthe play are studied, especially in the line of attack. The main purpose of the study is to reason out the model situation leading to breaking through the defensive line successfully scored by a goal (in open play), and to find out what the requirements on the particular players are and to use the gained information in practice. Methods: The research was accomplished by indirect observation from videocassette showing all goals scored at the World Championship 2006. The qualitative and quantitative analysis was used for this research. There were followed all the criteria of performance of successful shot. The graphic demonstration of representative goal situation has showed us the models, which we can break in to the training process and transfer to another performance group. Results: The results show us which models of successful offensive play were used at the world championship. This thesis, on the topic of Sustainable rural development of Moravské Kopanice, is aimed at evaluating the current state of sustainability in the mentioned area and considering its future development with respect to local specifics. Sustainability was evaluated in individual pillars (social, economic, environmental) using both statistical data and data obtained from interviews and questionnaires, conducted in the area in spring 2019. The results were subsequently summarized in SWOT analysis. The research showed that although each pillar has both strong and weak points, for this area the economic pillar is the weakest, while the environmental one is the strongest. Support for the development of environmentally friendly tourism, which could become a suitable tool for sustainable development of this region, appears to be the most perspective for the future.

This thesis deals with the adjustments hooves . In the literature review , this work focuses on the description of the anatomy and physiology of the hoof. In addition to the description and characterization of the hoof mechanism. The work also deals with the characteristics of regular and irregular hooves. The next part is focused on the care of hooves and a description of each method barefoot trim and physiological hoof trimming by dr. Strasser, grating method for using white line, mustang roll and trim. The work also follows basic description of horse shoeing. The practical part concerns the development of the questionnaire and its evaluation to the graphs and tables. The result of this work is that from 631 horses, 176 and 455 shod horses are only grated. Furthermore, it is found that only eighteen from 631 horses uses orthopedic shoeing. Of the 120 respondents, 44% said, that grates horse with farrier pasture trim, 17% shredded by white line, 14% uses a different method, than which has been listed in the questionnaire, 8% do not know which method they use, 7% use physiological adaptation by dr. Strasser, 5% method by white line and mustang roll, 5% use only mustang roll. Even 39% of respondents sports with his bare horse. In this work, we can see that the popularity of barefoot trim is really great and the owners and breeders of horses starts to turn more and more on this method.

The aim of this study is to explore the challenges in the implementation of a
performance management system in the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI),
Botswana, achievements, as well as the limitations thereof.
The researcher employed a mixed method approach whereby both the qualitative and
quantitative designs were used. The quantitative approach using a schedule of predetermined
questions utilized focus group discussions with the senior management
teams while the quantitative data was collected by the use of a questionnaire with both
closed and open-ended questions. The sampling frame was the employees of the MTI.
Both stratified random sampling and proportional sampling were used to ensure
homogeneity and fair population representation. The Statistical Package for Social
Sciences (SPSS) was used for analyzing quantitative data while the qualitative data
was grouped into themes which were then embedded in the quantitative data for
analysis.
The findings of the study revealed that the MTI does implement the performance
management system although there are some challenges such as flawed measures,
brain drain and limited resources to mention a few. The study concludes with the
propositions that the outcome is not clearly defined and that PMS is not customer

Taiwan is located on the area of an active orogenic belt in which the Eurasia plate and Philippine sea plate collide with each other. The dynamic geologic processes of the nature cause the mountains, short and raped rivers, unstable and fragile geology. The conversion of water and soil has become an important issue. Kopin-Chi is the greatest drainage area and the second longest river, the one that represents the typical river in Taiwan. Therefore, if the variation of Kopin-Chi drainage erosion rate can be calculated, we will solve the problem of conversion difficulties of water and soil. Based on the concepts of sediment transport within a given basin. The volume of the Kopin-Chi, which is located at the southern region of Taiwan, is studied by using the data of real-field sediment transport record from Hydrological Year Book of Taiwan of Water Resources Bureau Ministry of Economic Affairs to establish the relationship between sediment content. And regard as the basis of the numerical simulation with the result of procedure operation of NETSTARS. With real-field sediment transport record and the result of the numerical simulation, we can estimate the rate of bed load, suspended load and wash load of Liu-Kwei, Ta-Chin-Chiou, Li-Lin Bridge and the virtual station. Thereby the discussion of the characteristics of Kopin-Chi sediment transports will offer follow-up study’s reference. Furthermore, according to the research result above and the data of associated with daily mean discharge of Hydrological Year Book of Taiwan of Water Resources Bureau Ministry of Economic Affairs, we could estimate annual total quantitative load and erosion rate of Liu-Kwei, Ta-Chin-Chiou, Li-Lin Bridge and the virtual station. In the future, more factors of hydrology characteristics will be considered, we will then discover new available methods to achieve the accuracy of estimation of basins erosion rate in Taiwan.

This final thesis is dedicated to the use of infrared thermography in diagnosis of injuries and illnesses of horses. Literary overview focuses on origin of horses and their occupational use. Next chapters are focused on anatomy of researched body parts of horses, their description and evaluations connected to health hazards. In part of literary overview will be mention of impact of stabling technology on horses health. In next parts of thesis is description of individual illnesses and injuries, which shows inflammation or heighten local temperature. Research is focused on practical experiences with this method in the world and group of picked horses, of which single body parts have been screened with infrared camera in outdoor conditions. Obtained materials will be evaluated in part of research and commented on by expert and compared to other diagnostic methods.

Aim of this diploma thesis was to analyze the conditions of limbs and hooves of the horses in agrotourist businesses in the Czech Republic. In the first part of the analysis, the conditions of breeding (stabling type, work intensity, ground and surface of the riding halls, care of hooves) and study of these horses (number of horses, age, breed, numbers of geldings and mares) were evaluated. These values were then recorded into the prepared form. In the other part of the analysis, the ground measuring followed. Four basic parameters were measured and evaluated: posture of the forelimbs and its discrepancies, posture of the hindlimbs and its discrepancies, angle and defects of fore hooves, angle and defects of the hind hooves). From these four basic parametres, 32 various differentiations were assessed, whilst not all of them were present at the measured population of the horses. Those values were statistically processed and compared in the Unistat program. During the evaluation of particular bodily proportions, an effect of six factors was assessed: effect of breed, sex, age, way of trimming hooves, intensity of trimming hooves, and effect of stabling type. The highest rate of statistically conclusive effects was detected at the age effect, which was statistically conclusive to affect six differentiations and significantly statistically affected one differentiation. Also effect of the breed highly affected the measured parameters. Statistically conclusive effect was detected at two measured differentiations. Statistically significantly conclusive effect was detected at four more differentiations. The effect of sex, way and intensity of trimming hooves and stabling type was not that considerable, but still yielded some measured values.
