Abstract:
Mitragyna speciosa Korth (Kratom), a herb of the Rubiaceae family is indigenous in southeast Asia mainly in Malaysia and Thailand. It is used as an opium substitute and has been increasingly abused by drug addicts in Malaysia. Recently, the potent analgesic effect of plant extract and its dominant alkaloid mitragynine (MIT) were confirmed in vivo and in vitro. MIT acted primarily on μ- and δ-opioid receptors, suggesting that MIT or similar compounds could be promising alternatives for future pain management treatments. However the potential cytotoxicity of this plant is unknown. Therefore, the cytotoxicity of methanol-chloroform extract (MSE) and MIT on human cell lines (HepG2, HEK 293, MCL-5, cHol and SH-SY5Y cells) has been examined. MSE appeared to exhibit dose-dependant inhibition of cell proliferation in all cell lines examined, at concentration > 100 μg/ml with substantial cell death at 1000 μg/ml. SH-SY5Y was the most sensitive cell line examined. MIT showed a similar response. Clonogenicity assay was performed to assess the longer-term effects of MSE and MIT. The colony forming ability of HEK 293 and SH-SY5Y cells was inhibited in a dose-dependant manner. Involvement of metabolism in cytotoxicity was further assessed by clonogenicity assay using rat liver S9 (induced by Arochlor 1254); toxicity increased 10-fold in both cell lines. To determine if cytotoxicity was accompanied by DNA damage, the Mouse lymphoma tk gene mutation assay was used. The results were negative for both MSE and MIT. Studies on the involvement of metabolism in cytotoxicity of MSE and MIT were performed using MCL-5 and it appeared that CYP 2E1 is involved in activation of cytotoxicity. Studies with opioid antagonists were performed using SH-SY5Y cells treated with MSE and MIT. Naloxone (μ and δ receptor antagonists), naltrindole (δ receptor antagonist) and cyprodime hydrobromide (μ receptor antagonist) confirmed that MSE cytotoxicity was associated with μ and δ receptor while MIT mainly acted on μ receptor. Studies on mechanism of MSE and MIT cytotoxicity showed that cell death observed at high dose was preceded by cell cycle arrest, however MSE cell arrest was independent of p53 and p21 while MIT showed opposite result. Studies have been undertaken to examine the nature of this cell death. Morphological examinations showed that cell death induced by MSE was cell type dependant, in which SH-SY5Y cells appeared to die via apoptosis-like cell death while HEK 293 and MCL-5 cells predominantly via necrosis. Biochemical assessments confirmed that MSE induced cell death independent of p53 or caspases pathway while MIT cell death appeared to be associated with p53 and caspases pathway. The involvement of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in MSE and MIT mediating cell death was performed using SH-SY5Y cells. The results appeared negative for both MSE and MIT treated cells. Collectively, the findings of these studies suggest that MSE and its dominant alkaloid MIT produced cytotoxicity effects at high dose. Thus, the consumption of Mitragyna speciosa Korth leaves may pose harmful effects to users if taken at high dose and the evidence for involvement of CYP 2E1 in increasing the MSE cytotoxicity suggests that caution may be required if the leaves are to be taken with CYP 2E1 inducers.

Bibliography: leaves 87-96. This thesis investigates non-proteinaceous low molecular weight flavonoid and alkaloid compounds in Scurulla oortiana (Korth.) Danser grown on Camellia sinens. Three flavonols are identified in S. oortiana (Korth.) Danser growing on different hosts. The identification and characterisation of these flavonoids are carried out using various chromatographic and spectrometric procedures. Two purine alkaloids are isolated from and identified in S. oortiana (Korth.) Danser parasitizing tea plant, C. Sinensis. The antifungal activity of the phenolic compounds isolated from mistletoe parasitizing tea plant is examined.

<p>Kandidatuppsatsen ”Kort om kort- en lokal banks affinitetsmarknadsföring” undersöker Sala Sparbanks planerade kreditkorts chanser att lyckas på en alltmer mättad marknad. Banken funderar på att koppla ett förmånssystem till det nya kreditkortet och författarna syftar till att ta reda på Sala Sparbanks kunders attityder till ett sådant kreditkort som kallas affinitetskort. Avsikten är att diskutera kortets möjlighet till att öka försäljning och användande samt att styra handeln och skapa växtkraft i bygden.</p><p>Undersökningsmetoden är kvantitativ, telefonintervju genomfördes med bankens kunder och tillika invånare i Sala – och Heby kommuner. Intervjuobjekten graderade påståenden, baserade på Fock et al´ s (2005) modell, om två olika typer av förmåner, affektiv lojalitet till banken, affektiv lojalitet till affinitetsgruppen och prestige i affiniteten. Teori om affinitetsmarknadsföring och typ av affinitetsgrupp berättar om hur kortegenskaper och affinitetspartner påverkar kundens attityd till affinitetskortet och i förlängningen användandet av detsamma. Kunderna uttryckte en stark affektiv lojalitet till både banken och affinitetspartnern ”bygden” samt en stolthet över att bo i verksamhetsområdet Sala – och Heby kommuner, men värderar dock förmånerna lägre. På grund av, denna låga förmånsvärdering samt en invägning av affinitetsgruppens karaktär, ifrågasätts affinitetskortets möjlighet att uppnå tillfredsställande resultat. Den ena typen av förmån anser författarna vara bättre än den andra men rekommendationen till banken är svag då den sammanlagda attityden inte anses vara tillräckligt positiv.</p>

Abstract:
Abstract   This  report  describes  the  production  of  a  number  of  short  instructional  videos  in  cooking.  The  project  was  a  thesis  project  for  Högskoleprogrammet  till  medieproducent,  which  is  a  two-­‐year  program  for  media  production  at  Umeå  University.   Video  production  took  place  at  the  request  of  SVT  (Swedish  television)  in  Umeå.  The  videos  are  meant  to  be  used  on  the  cooking  portal  SVT  plans  to  launch  in  the  fall  of  2015.  A  chef  was  hired  to  carry  out  the  procedures  to  be  filmed,  and  the  student  was  assigned  to  shoot  and  edit  everything.   Before  production  started,  cooking  instructionals  on  Youtube  were  analyzed,  to  create  an  idea  of  how  such  videos  typically  look  today.  The  results  of  this  analysis  were  then  used  in  the  production,  but  they  were  not  governing  in  the  design,  since  specific  requests  from  others  involved,  and  specific  conditions  of  the  project  existed.  Also  the  student's  own  visions  influenced  the  outcome.  Another  preparation  was  to  set  up  various  options  for  the  design  and  assessing  what  these  different  options  would  mean  for  the  result.   Shooting  took  place  in  the  chef's  kitchen,  during  three  days.  Each  video  was  filmed  from  two  angles,  to  facilitate  cutting  therebetween.  The  material  was  edited  with  the  aim  to  convey  both  clarity  and  good  aesthetics.     The  experience  resulted  in  recommendations  for  further  work,  in  the  form  of  a  manual  of  how  to  produce  such  cooking  tutorials.  The  manual  describes  what  equipment  is  needed  and  how  to  work  on  set.  Then  the  editing  process,  including  appropriate  lengts  of  the  videos,  is  presented.  The  manual  also  contains  recommendations  for  how  much  time  is  needed  when  producing  a  certain  number  of  short  instructional  videos  of  this  kind.

Abstract:
Podcasten är i Sverige ett nytt medium. Denna kanal särskiljer sig från andra mer etablerade medier i det avseende att korta relationer vanligtvis uppstår mellan podcasts och sponsorer. Det som är uppseendeväckande med detta är att teorier gällande relationsutbyten förespråkar långsiktiga relationer. Attribut som är av betydelse för relationsutbytets utveckling är: relationens längd, förtroende, ömsesidigt beroende, normer, och anpassning. Intressant blir således att undersöka hur detta kan komma sig. Podcast med en relation till sponsorer har intervjuats, detta för att undersöka den intermistiska relationen och anledningen till samarbetet. Intervjustudien tyder på att relations-attributen är mindre utvecklade, detta beror på att relationernas längd hämmar attributens utveckling. Marknadens stora tillväxt de senaste åren och det faktum att både podcasts och sponsorer ständigt söker nya samarbetspartners har bidragit till att relationerna förblivit interimistiska.

I rapporten undersöks och testas psuedoslumptalsgeneratorer för att undersöka deras egenskaper, en av dem var periodlängd. För att göra detta valde vi ut fyra kända psuedoslumptalsgeneratorer och fyra olika testsviter som av olika anledning var av intresse, samt att vi själva utvecklade en pseudoslumptalsgenerator som vi utsatte för samma test. Genom att göra detta har vi kunnat dra slutsatsen att pseudoslumptalsgeneratorns viktigaste egenskap är en lång slumptalssekvens som inte periodiseras.

Men jag skulle inte göra det</p><p>nu, är inte alls lika säker på sparkarna längre...</p><p>De flesta lärare och blivande lärare har förmodligen upplevt eller på annat sätt kommit i</p><p>kontakt med den eviga "kepskonflikten", Citatet ovan är hämtat från en av de lärare som har</p><p>intervjuats för detta arbete och illustrerar hur denna lärare ibland har hanterat just denna typ</p><p>av konflikt.</p><p>Det här arbetet behandlar konflikter som uppkommer i skolan. Ett antal lärare har intervjuats</p><p>kring konflikter och konflikthantering. Detta för att studera huruvida det går att identifiera</p><p>olika strategier för konflikthantering hos en grupp lärare.</p><p>Konflikter uppkommer i interaktionen mellan människor och uppkommer förr eller senare i</p><p>de flesta relationer. I en miljö som skolans där människor varje dag möts, umgås och arbetar</p><p>tillsammans kommer konflikter och oönskat beteende förr eller senare att uppstå. Lärare har</p><p>alltså många gånger en nyckelroll när det gäller att lösa dessa konflikter och förhindra att de</p><p>uppkommer. l Eftersom alla lärare möter konflikter i sitt arbete med elever tyckte vi att det</p><p>skulle vara intressant att studera några lärares syn på konflikthantering.</p><p>Studien är en del av ett projekt som Klippans kommun utför i samarbete med rektorer, lärare</p><p>och skolchef. Projektet kommer under 2007 att mynna ut i en handbok för nyutexaminerade</p><p>lärare. Denna kommer att innehålla råd och tips från erfarna lärare som kan vara tiIl hjälp vid</p><p>konflikter och konfliktlösningar i skolan. Fair play är något som ligger i idrottens natur. Så hävdar i alla fall idrottsetablissemanget. Idrottsutövarna tycks däremot inte vara av samma åsikt vilket leder till upprepade brott mot fair play-idealet. Syftet med studien är att förstå och förklara hur fair play förändras och utvecklas i olika sporter utifrån en jämförelse mellan fotboll och rugby. Just dessa två sporter är intressanta att jämföra kopplat till fair play då de har samma ursprung men vitt skilda fair play-ideal. Det blir därför intressant att undersöka på vilka sätt fair play-idealet skiljer sig mellan de två sporterna och hur idealet har förändrats i de två sporterna sedan de uppkom på 1800-talet (i modern form), men även fair play-idealets allmänna roll inom idrotten. Detta är en komparativ studie där jag jämför fair play-idealen inom fotbollen och rugbyn. Metoden jag har använt är dokumentanalys.Fair play handlar både om de formella (nedskrivna) och informella (ej nedskrivna) reglerna, och den gemensamma tolkningen av dessa kallas för ethos (of the game). Fair play handlar också om att uppträda på ett positivt sätt, inte bara undvika ett negativt beteende. Reglerna kan brytas antingen medvetet, det vi kallar för fusk, eller omedvetet. En orsak till fusk är en vilja att vinna till varje pris. Strukturfunktionalism handlar om social kontroll, en fotbollsdomare kan exempelvis kontrollera spelarna och deras beteende genom att dela ut gula och röda (eller gröna) kort. Fair play-idealet går att problematisera som ett 1800-talsideal, som ett brittisk ideal, som ett överklassideal, som ett maskulinitetsideal, och som ett kristet ideal. Min slutsats är att det behövs ett mer kritiskt och problematiserande förhållningssätt till fair play-idealet.<br>This is a comparative study of the ideal of fair play in football and rugby. The purpose of this study is to understand and explain how fair play changes and develops in different sports with a comparison between football and rugby. Fair play is about the formal and informal rules, and about behaving in a positive manner, not only to avoid negative behaviour. Fair play is said to be fundamental in sports but the number of athletes that break this ideal suggests that it’s not. Structural functionalism is about social control, the football referee can for example control the players by showing them yellow or red (or green) cards. Fair play is an ideal of the 19th century, a British ideal, an ideal of the upper-class, an ideal of masculinity, and a Christian ideal. My conclusion is that there is a need for a more problematised approach to fair play.

Ce mémoire de maîtrise porte sur un projet de création dont le fruit consiste en trois œuvres instrumentales récentes ayant pour source d’inspiration les timbres percussifs. Ces trois œuvres sont : 1. Et pourtant elle tourne ! pour quatuor à cordes ; 2. Obsession pour mezzo-soprano, flûte, clarinette, vibraphone, piano, violon et violoncelle ; 3. Au bord de l’eau pour orchestre. De manière générale, ce mémoire présente mes réflexions sur les manières dont le timbre peut servir d’élément de cohésion du discours musical. Plus spécifiquement, ce mémoire traite de mon souci de produire des timbres percussifs par des instruments de non percussion et des timbres non percussifs par des instruments de percussion, le tout en des discours cohérents et intéressants. Quant à la structure même du mémoire, suite à une introduction où sont exposés les origines du projet de création et son cadre théorique, le premier chapitre présente un survol historique de l’évolution du paramètre du timbre et de la place des percussions dans les musiques occidentales. Ce premier chapitre dévoile également un système permettant d’évaluer la qualité percussive d’une sonorité. Le deuxième chapitre présente, à l’aide de nombreux exemples tirés des œuvres à l’étude, les diverses incarnations du timbre percussif aux instruments de non percussion, ou son évitement aux instruments de percussion. La conclusion traite de l’incidence du projet de recherche sur mon langage musical.<br>This master’s thesis examines three of my recent instrumental compositions that use percussive timbres as inspiration. These three pieces are: 1. Et pourtant elle tourne ! for string quartet; 2. Obsession for mezzo-soprano, flute, clarinet, vibraphone, piano, violin and violoncello; 3. Au bord de l’eau for orchestra. This thesis presents my reflections on the parameter of timbre as a mean of strengthening the cohesion of the musical discourse. More specifically, this thesis explores how to generate percussive timbres by non-percussion instruments, as well as non-percussive timbres by percussion instruments, in the context of a coherent and interesting musical discourse. Following an introduction where the origins, objectives and theoretical framework of this creative project are presented, the first chapter lays out my preparatory research, outlining the history of the evolution of timbre and the role of percussion instruments in Western music, as well as building a system to identify and qualify sounds for their percussive qualities. In the second chapter, the pieces are examined and examples are provided. These examinations illustrate how percussive and non-percussive timbres were used. The conclusion discusses the impacts of this creative project on my musical language and future works.

<p>Den 1 januari 1998 infördes en ny lag när det gäller redovisning av pensioner i kommuner. Tidigare belastades resultatet med en kostnad när pensionspengarna utbetalades. Nu skulle kommunernas pensionsskulder som upparbetats innan detta datum endast redovisas med en not, som en ansvarsförbindelse. Detta medför att landets kommuner enligt lag ska inneha en skuld som inte ska ingå i balansräkningen.</p><p>Vi har kommit fram till att kommunerna redovisar på olika sätt, vissa väljer att bryta mot lagen och lyfta fram hela pensionsskulden i balansräkningen medan merparten av de undersökta kommunerna väljer att följa lagen och på så sätt inneha en dold skuld i balansräkningen. Detta har medfört att en av kommunerna har en negativ soliditet när de räknar med den dolda pensionsskulden till pensionsskulden som redovisas i balansräkningen. Vi har även sett att det finns en relativ låg kunskap bland respondenterna i kommunerna när det gäller redovisning av kommunens pensionsskuld.</p>

Igenkänning av ansikten har främst undersökts i form av korttidsretention. Via sådan forskning har det kunnat påvisas att människor generellt har en bättre förmåga till igenkänning av ansikten jämfört med visuella stimulus av liknande komplexitet. Det har även påvisats effekter av extraversion och kön på förmågan att känna igen ansikten. Denna studie undersökte långtidsretention av ansikten och detta i relation till extraversion och kön. Utöver detta undersökte studien relationen mellan igenkänning av ansikten och annat visuellt stimulus (hundar). Detta studerades genom en experimentell inomgruppsdesign där deltagarna utförde ett datorbaserat igenkänningstest direkt och 24 timmar efter inlärning. Extraversion mättes med självskattningsformuläret Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI R). Studien inkluderade 51 deltagare (31 kvinnor, 19 män, en icke-binär, M = 27.69 år). Resultaten visade en fördel för igenkänning av ansikten, men kunde inte påvisa någon skillnad i nedgång stimulusen emellan. Vidare visade resultaten en signifikant stimulus × kön interaktion, där kvinnor presterade bättre än män på igenkänning av ansikten men inte på igenkänning av hundar. En effekt av extraversion hittades enbart i extremgrupperna på kontinuumet extraversion. Slutligen visade studien att det inte fanns något signifikant samband mellan prestation på igenkänning av hundar och ansikten vid det första testtillfället. I studien diskuteras implikationerna ett holistiskt processande verkar ha på inlärning men inte på minneskonsolidering över tid. Studien belyser också brister i tidigare studier som undersökt extraversion i relation till ansiktsigenkänning och fördjupar sig i eventuella orsaker till uppmätta könsskillnader.<br>Face-recognition has foremost been studied with a focus on short-term retention. This research has concluded that in general people are a better in recognizing faces in comparison to recognition of stimuli with matching complexity. Studies have also shown that extraversion and sex affect face-recognition ability. This study investigated long-term memory retention of faces in relation to extraversion and sex. In addition, this study explored the relationship between recognition of faces, and another visual stimulus (dogs). This was conducted by using an experimental within-subjects-design in which the participants performed a computer-based recognition-test both immediately after the study phase, as well as 24 hours later. Revised NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI R) was used to measure extraversion. The study had 51 participants (31 women, 19 men, one non-binary, M = 27.69 years). The results showed an advantage in recognition of faces but failed to show a difference in decline between stimuli. There was a stimulus × sex interaction, where women showed an advantage compared to men in recognition of faces but not regarding recognition of dogs. Extraversion was shown to have an effect on the performance only when the most and least extraverted was compared. Finally, there was no relationship between face-recognition and recognition of dogs in the short-term retention test. The study highlights shortcomings in earlier studies investigating extraversion in relation to face recognition and discusses possible reasons for the obtained sex differences. The study also discusses whether holistic processing is implicated in learning, but not with respect to long-term memory consolidation.

The phenomenon of an ongoing sound change leads in some cases to the pronunciation of short ö becoming more like that of short u. This thesis examines the relationship between short ö and u in Uppland Swedish. The localities included in the investigation were Uppsala, Norrtälje, Östervåla and Gräsö. In particular, the thesis examines the effects of age, gender and social status on the acquisition of a pronunciation where the phonemes are produced in a similar way, and whether the change occurs earlier in some words than others. The informants on Gräsö appear to have the highest occurrence of the merger, while those in Norrtälje are best at keeping ö and u apart. In general, men have a smaller difference between ö and u than women. Three different age groups were analysed and the results show that the oldest informants have the largest difference between ö and u and the youngest informants have the smallest difference. There are no significant differences between the three social status groups, but there is a tendency for those with the lowest social status to be better at keeping the phonemes apart than those with the highest social status. 13 minimal (or near-minimal) pairs were analysed to investigate whether the phonetic context has an effect on the degree to which ö and u are becoming more similar. The study shows that the smallest phonetic difference is found for word pairs with r occurring in the preceding or following context. The largest phonetic distance was found in word pairs beginning with a vowel. The study also examined whether there is a relationship between production, perception and attitude to u-sounding ö in Uppsala. By combining the production test results with the informants’ categorisation of u and ö in the perception test, the study shows that the informants with a small phonetic distance in their own speech were better at categorising stimuli correctly than the speakers who had a larger phonetic distance between ö and u in their own speech.

Internet är ett öppet system och för att Internet i högre utsträckning skall kunna användas även vid hantering av hemlig information krävs bättre säkerhet.</p><p>I detta examensarbete undersöks om PKI och smarta kort kan vara en säkerhetslösning som kommer att vara ledande om tio år för säker identifiering, kryptering och signering på Internet.</p><p>För att sätta in problemområdet i ett vidare perspektiv ges inledningsvis en övergripande bild av dagens informationssamhälle. Det ges även en grundläggande förklaring av viktiga begrepp för ökad förståelsen av rapportinnehållet. I rapporten redovisas även tillvägagångssättet för att samla in material, vilket har utgjorts av telefonintervjuer och dokumentstudier.</p><p>Resultatet visar att PKI och smarta kort med stor sannolikhet kommer att användas i framtiden för säkrare informationshantering på Internet. I resultatet sammanfattas även några av de visioner och problem som anses finnas inom ämnesområde.</p>

<p>Business and organizations use computer network in a greater extension than ever before, especially for business-critical use. That increase the demand of security for all systems, both against internal and external threats. The demand on the authentication method used today increases. Today they normally uses password or some kind of smart card. </p><p>I will performa literature study that will investigate the possibility to increase the security in authentication of users without the use of extra hardware. The method uses a server that stores all cryptographic keys for the user centrally to achieve stronger security. This report is based on a previous report which tested to implement this solution, in this report I will question the security of this system. I will then give an architecture proposal where this method is used to authenticate and allow cryptographic recourses for the user. </p><p>The conclusions you can get from this report is that the possibilities with comparable ease increase the security without investing in new hardware. But the solution will not be comparable by a ``smart card solution''in security levels. That means that the method described in this thesis is suitable for organizations that either do not need that strong security as smart card give or want a good solution without being forced to use some external hardware.</p>

Inga sammanställda exakta siffror finns idag gällande antal personer med alkoholproblematik i Sverige, uppskattningsvis är siffrorna 300 000. Vad man vet med säkerhet är att allmänsjuksköterskan möter dessa patienter i sitt arbete. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att granska och sammanställa vetenskapliga artiklar om sjuksköterskors inställning till kort intervention och alkoholscreening. Metoden genomfördes som en litteraturstudie baserad på tio kvalitativa och kvantitativa vetenskapliga artiklar som framtagits via Pubmed och Cinahl databaser. Resultatet visar att ökad kunskap, utbildning samt engagerade ledare och en god arbetsmiljö påverkar sjuksköterskans inställning till kort intervention och alkoholscreening.<br>No compiled exact numbers exist today concerning the quantity of persons with alcoholrelated problems in Sweden, approximately the numbers are 300 000. What we know with certainty is that nurses meet these patients in their work. The aim of this study was to examine and summarize scientific articles regarding nurses` attitudes to brief intervention and alcoholscreening. The method was a literature review based on ten qualitative and quantitative scientific articles which were derived trough Pubmed och Cinahl databases. The results showed that increased knowledge, education and engaged leaders and a good work environment influence nurses´ attitudes to brief intervention and alcoholscreening.

Utifrån en problemställning formulerad av Trafikverkets skyltfond har produktutvecklingsföretaget Prodelox drivit ett projekt med syfte att testa kreativa idéer för att minska bromssträckan för personbilar i nödsituationer. Som en del i projektet har ett examensarbete genomförts vilket resulterat i denna rapport. Examensarbetet ämnar sammanställa en mängd idéer på alternativa metoder att bromsa bilar, för att sedan välja ut tre av dessa för praktiska tester. Idén med att korta bromssträckan grundar sig i trafiksäkerhetsarbetet i kombination med introduktionen av nya tekniska system som kan förutspå kollisioner. Om en kollision kan förutses är det av största intresse att kunna bromsa in bilen så mycket som möjligt innan detta sker för att minska skadorna och rädda liv. Ur ett förutsättningslöst perspektiv har kreativa idéer tagits fram. Rapporten tar dessutom upp och sammanfattar friktionsteorier och fordonsdynamiska aspekter att ta hänsyn till vid utvecklingsarbetet. Projektet följer en produktutvecklingsmetodik presenterad av Ulrich och Eppinger (2008) och omfattningen är utvecklingsfasens tidiga steg. Genom två iterationer utvecklas koncept genom framtagande av kravspecifikation, konceptgenerering, och konceptval. Idéer testas löpande genom fysiska såväl som virtuella prototyper under hela processen. Den första utvecklingsiterationen resulterar i 17 konceptidéer innefattande olika typer av bromsmetoder. Koncepten delas in i kategorierna ökad friktion, ökad normalkraft, spjärn mot asfalten, aerodynamik och magnetism. Tre koncept väljs ut och utvecklas vidare: Koncept Ankare, Gummiplatta och Avverkan. Utvecklingen av koncept Ankare resulterar i ett koncept där en infästning i asfalten sker i farten under bilen med hjälp av krutdrivna spikpistoler. Fästet förbinds med bilen med ett textilband kallat Tear Webbing. Det är två sydda remmar som producerar en konstant kraft då remmarna slits isär och sömmarna rivs upp. Bandet testas praktiskt och ger en bromseffekt på uppemot 1,5 g-krafter, medan de krutdrivna spikpistolerna inte kan testas i farten inom ramen för detta projekt. Koncept Gummiplatta bygger på att en stor gummiyta placerad under bilen trycks ner i marken och lyfter framvagnen på bilen. Olika gummibelägg testas med förhoppningen att hitta ett gummibelägg med goda friktionsegenskaper. Ökad area och optimerade materialegenskaper kan i teorin leda till bättre friktion. Konceptet testas på både vått och torrt väglag genom en konstruktion under testbilens framvagn. Fyra olika gummiprover jämförs med bilens vanliga bromsar. Endast ett gummi, naturgummi, presterar bättre än referensen i tester från 50 km/h, medan resten resulterar i längre bromssträcka. Vid tester från 100 km/h presterar samtliga gummiprover sämre än referensbromsningarna. Koncept Avverkan baseras på idén att en större kraft än friktionskraften kan fås ut om ett hårt material trycks ner i asfaltens yta och river upp densamma. Deformationerna av asfalten åstadkommer den bromsande kraften. I test av konceptet höll inte konstruktionen, men retardationen som utvecklades innan konstruktionen gav vika kom upp i 1,2 g-krafter, något som visar på att konceptet har kapacitet att korta bromssträckan. Som fortsättning på detta projekt föreslås flera vägar att gå. Koncepten Ankare och Avverkan visar på stor potential att korta bromssträckan och nya projekt med syfte att fortsatt utveckla och testa dessa koncept föreslås. Även andra projekt som ligger utanför syftet av denna rapport, så som en idé för att minska dubbdäcksanvändningen, föreslås för utredning i framtida studier.<br>At the request of the Swedish Transport Administration the product development company Prodelox has initiated a project aiming to test creative ideas on reducing the braking distance for passenger cars in emergency situations. As a part of this project a master thesis has been conducted resulting in this report. The thesis aims to compile ideas on alternative methods for braking cars, and thereafter choosing three of them for practical testing. In combination with introduction of new technical innovations that predict collisions, an alternative braking system that could brake more than standard brakes are of great interest. By reducing the braking distance deaths and serious injuries in traffic can be reduced. From this perspective ideas have been impartially generated. The report includes friction theory and vehicle dynamics to consider in the development. The project is following a product development process presented by Ulrich and Eppinger (2008) and focuses on the early stages of the process. In two iterations concepts are developed through the phases target specification, concept generation and concept selection. Ideas are concurrently tested through physical as well as virtual prototypes. The first development iteration resulted in 17 concepts including different kinds of braking methods. The concepts are divided into five categories; increased friction, increased normal load, grabbing of the asphalt, aerodynamics, and magnetism. Three concepts are chosen for further development; concept Anchor, Rubber plate, and Rip up. The development of concept Anchor results in a concept for which an attachment is made in the asphalt on the fly by use of cartridge actuated fastening machine. The attachment is connected to the car by a textile webbing, called Tear Webbing. It consists of two sewn straps that produce a constant force when torn apart. In practical tests, the concept generate a breaking effect of 1.5 g-forces, while the cartridge actuated fastening cannot be tested on the fly within this project. The development of concept Anchor results in a concept for which an attachment is made in the asphalt on the fly by use of cartridge actuated fastening machine. The attachment is connected to the car by a textile webbing, called Tear Webbing. It consists of two sewn straps that produce a constant force when torn apart. In practical tests, the concept generate a breaking effect of 1.5 g-forces, while the cartridge actuated fastening cannot be tested on the fly within this project. Concept Rip up is based on idea that a bigger force than the frictional force can be achieved by pressing a hard material into the surface of the asphalt road and tearing up the same. The deformations of the asphalt generate the braking force. While testing the concept the structure holding the horns broke, but the force achieved before time of collapse was corresponding to a deceleration of 1.2 g-forces. This shows that the concept has potential to reduce the braking distance. To conclude this project several new projects are suggested. The concepts Anchor and Rip up show great potential to reduce the braking distance and new projects aiming to further develop and test these concepts are recommended. Also other further studies outside the frame of this report are suggested, for example an idea on how to reduce the usage of studded tires.

Abstract:
This master thesis is discussing ten pony books from 2006 in relation to the heterosexual matrix. It contains a rather extensive research overview regarding horse riding from a gender perspective, pony books, traditional feminist studies of girls’ books and queer readings of girls’ and children’s literature. The aim of the empirical study is two folded; firstly to show how the girl protagonists’ horse riding is presented in terms of masculinity and femininity (as defined by Natalie Koivula), secondly to analyze the relations between the girls appearing in the books from a queer perspective attempting to find some queer leakage in the depictions. The theory applied is based on Judith Butler and the method is derived from the tradition of queer readings and feminist counter readings. The results show that the protagonists construct masculinity as well as femininity, often combined, which question the assumption that girls and women can only construct femininity and furthermore illustrate that the division between femininity and masculinity is not as natural as is often assumed. The analysis also demonstrates that some of the girls express intense emotions for other girls and show a stronger bond towards other girls than towards boys. However, the relations between the girls are often normalized in accordance with the heterosexual matrix. The conclusion of the thesis is that the pony books can be both liberating from current heterosexual gender norms and reinforcing this societal order. Abstract:
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) är ett system för global satellitpositionering och navigering och innefattar bland annat Global Positioning System (GPS) och Globalnaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema (GLONASS), dessa två system är de enda fullt globala operativa systemen i dagsläget. Galileo är ett europeiskt satellitsystem under utveckling och erbjuder för närvarande 14 satelliter, men ska bestå av totalt 30 satelliter när systemet beräknas vara fullt fungerande 2020. Den mätmetod med GNSS som har lägst osäkerhet är statisk mätning. Det är en relativ metod vilket innebär att minst två mottagare samlar observationer samtidigt, vanligtvis i flera timmar. Snabb statisk mätning är en vidareutveckling av statisk mätning och erbjuder mycket kortare observationstider, däremot innebär det en begränsning på baslinjelängden. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka Galileos påverkan vid snabb statisk mätning och se huruvida Galileo kan bidra med lägre osäkerheter, avvikelser och observationstider i olika konstellationer tillsammans med GPS och GLONASS. Mätningarna utfördes under två dagar i fyra respektive två timmar. Två baslinjer mättes; ena baslinjen hade en längd på 0,4 km och den andra på drygt 2 km. I ett bearbetningsprogram delades därefter konstellationerna upp i tio tidsfönster (epoker) och varje tidsfönster delades i sin tur upp i tre sessioner (1, 5 och 10 minuter). Fyra typer av konstellationer testades: GPS, GPS och GLONASS, GPS och Galileo och sist alla tre tillsammans. Resultatet i studien visar på låga osäkerheter när fler än en konstellation används. Lägst osäkerhet uppnås generellt när mätning med alla konstellationer görs. Mätning med endast GPS ger högst osäkerhet i samtliga fall, men detta är framförallt kännbart vid den kortaste sessionen (1 minut). Likheten i osäkerheterna vid den korta och långa baslinjen är tydlig, men osäkerheterna är större för den långa baslinjen. Avvikelserna är lägst med alla konstellationer, men baslinjelängden är i nästan alla fall för kort mot sin referens. Slutsatsen från studien är att Galileo kan användas för att minska observationstider och osäkerheter vid snabb statisk mätning. Detta är dock försumbart ifall GPS och GLONASS redan används, åtminstone för de två baslinjerna i detta test. The survey method with GNSS that has lowest uncertainties is static survey. It is a relative method which means that a minimum of two receivers observe simultaneously, usually for several hours. Rapid static surveying is a further development of static surveying and offers much shorter observation times, but it imposes a restriction of the baseline length. The purpose of this study is to evaluate Galileo’s contribution on rapid static surveying and see whether Galileo can decrease uncertainties, deviations and observation times in different constellations with GPS and GLONASS. Measurements were conducted during two days for two and four hours respectively. Two baselines were measured; the first baseline had a length of 0.4 km and the second nearly 2 km. Later in a software, each constellation was divided in ten time windows (epochs) and each time window was then divided in three sessions (1, 5 and 10 minutes). Four types of constellations were tried: GPS, GPS and GLONASS, GPS and Galileo and lastly all three combined. Results show that low uncertainties are obtained when more than one constellation is used. Lowest uncertainties can be obtained with all constellations active. Surveying with only GPS gives the highest uncertainties in all cases, but this is especially true for the shortest session (1 minute). Similarities in uncertainties between the short and long baseline is clear, but uncertainties are higher for the long baseline. Deviations are lower with all constellations active, but the baseline length is in almost all cases too short. The conclusion from the study is that Galileo can be used to lower observation time and uncertainties. However this is negligible when used with GPS and GLONASS, at least for the two baselines in this test. Low uncertainties can be achieved with multi constellation or longer observation time.
