Full textBackground: Research shows a strong connection between pupils exposed to harassment and to physical and mental illness. Harassment occurring on the internet are perceived by teens as extra harmful to their mental health. School nurses have the opportunity to prevent harassment and to promote health on three different levels; individual,- interpersonal,- and system level. Aim: The purpose of the study was to investigate the school nurses’ experiences in preventing harassment in schools and on the internet. Method: A qualitative methodology was used in the study and the results were analyzed by content analysis. Seven school nurses in Sweden have been interviewed by email. Result: Three categories appeared in the result: to be available to pupils and their guardians, to talk with pupils and to cooperate. Conclusion: The study shows that school nurses demonstrate broad experiences in preventing harassment. These experiences occur primarily in the individual-oriented and interpersonal work level. Experiences at the system level are less occuring. It appears there were varied experiences of norm-critical perspective as a working method.

Full textThe purpose of this study was to examine the adolescents opinion of how violations in social media might look like and to study if there is something that distinguishes it from violations face to face. As the technological development create new conditions for social interaction, the people who are working to prevent violations and bullying are faced with new challenges. Therefore, the study is also focused on how schools can work with these violations. According to a report from BRIS “Children’s Right s In Society” they receive an increasing number of calls every year about bullying or other forms of violent behaviour. This points to that this is an important problem that needs to be studied closer. The study is made based on a qualitative approach in the form of semi-structured interviews. The adolescents were interviewed in focus groups of four persons in one group and two in another. Two school counselors have been interviewed individually. The theoretical approach of the study was symbolic interactionism and Erving Goffman's dramaturgical sociology. The research that is available is primarily focused on bullying and the knowledge that exists today can not always be directly transferable to what is happening on the internet. Several studies have shown that there are some fundamental differences between the violations occurring on the internet compared to other violations, even if consequences like anxiety and stress usually are the same. This study’s results show that the adolescents notices that it is often a rougher language on the internet and it has almost become a new standard. In turn this means that it is more acceptable to give mean comments. It also indicated that the adolescents would want the schools to raise the question about violations in social medias more than what is being done today

Full textBackground: Mental disorders among children and adolescents has increased since the 90´s. The presence of bullying has not changed. Bullying leads to negative psychological health effects. The school nurse has an important role in the health promoting work in schools. Purpose: The aim of this study is to describe school nurses perceptions of their role in the work towards bullying in schools. Methodology: A qualitative method with eleven interviews made via e-mail. The interviews were analyzed with an inductive qualitative content analysis. Result: The result is presented in four themes. The result shows that the school nurse wants to but don´t have enough time to work towards bullying, the scholl nurse identify and encounter students involved in bullyin, cooperate with other professionals at school and also work preventively towards bullying. Conclusion: The school nurses didn´t perceive themselves as the most prominent person in the anti-bullying work in schools. Their perceptions of their role was to discover and to encounter children involved in bullying and the health dialogue is their main tool.

Full textBakgrund och syfte: De grundläggande värdena, människolivets okränkbarhet, individens frihet och integritet, alla människors lika värde, jämställdhet mellan kvinnor och män, samt solidaritet med svaga och utsatta är de värden skolan är satt att förmedla. Värdena anses inte ha någon koppling till verkligheten. Det sägs att det är en fråga om att förvandla orden i Läroplanen år 1994 till handling. Värderingarna har diskuterats i sin helhet, det vill säga inget värde har undersökts enskilt. Problematiken i hur dessa värden är formulerade har lyfts fram. Mot bakgrund av detta är syftet med uppsatsen att studera ett grundläggande värde om huruvida elever anser att skola/lärare har solidaritet med svaga och utsatta med praktisk handling.
Metod: Uppsatsens utgångspunkt är ur ett hermeneutiskt synsätt med en induktiv forskningsansats. Resultatet är en surveyundersökning som bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer med elever som går i årskurs nio, i Annersta Skolan, i Flemingsberg.
Teori: De teorier som utgör uppsatsens vetenskapliga grund är olika definitioner av värdegrunden.
I teorin lyfts det fram vad olika författare har sagt om värdegrunden och dess problematik. Värdegrunden diskuteras i förhållande till olika situationer. För att identifiera barns situation när det gäller deras inflytande används Amelie Thams bok: En bok om de grundläggande värdena och skolan. För att diskutera mobbning och vad det kan innebära för barn som blir utsatta används boken: Värdegrunden- finns den? av Kennert Orlenius. Värdegrundsboken- om samtal för demokrati i skolan av Gunilla Zackari och Fredrik Modigh används för att lyfta fram elevers rättsliga status samt visa när värdegrunden kommer till uttryck i skolan.
Slutsatser: Huruvida elever anser att lärare har solidaritet med svaga och utsatta beror på hur pass väl de anser att styrdokumenten har följts. Elever bedömer efter hur deras egen situatíon har hanterats, av skola/lärare, i relation till styrdokumenten. En slutsats som kan dras är att elever bedömer skolans/lärares insatser efter den hjälp de har fått, det vill säga om hjälpen har varit tillräcklig i just deras fall.

Full textThe study aimed to investigate what counselors have for experience when it comes to children and young people's use of social media. Do they see any risks of being online? The study is based on a qualitative approach with individual semi-structured interviews that were conducted with counselors in primary- and secondary schools and youth counseling. The applied theoretical interpretative framework is a theory of John Suler, which can give us an explanation of why they on the internet act more uninhibited. The study results show us that there are risks associated with the use of social media in several aspects. To name a few, there are risks of being exposed to abuse, bullying and sexual harassment when you are online. In our opinion, the study's findings contribute to an increased knowledge of this phenomenon and give us deeper knowledge from a new perspective, the counselor.
