Abstract:
The thesis deals with the biological data averaging applied to a periodical and repetitive signal, specifically to an ECG signals. There were used signals from MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database and ÚBMI database. Averaging was realized with constant, floating and exponential Windows, where was used the method of addition of the filtered residue. This method is intended to capture the slow variations from the input to the output signal. The outcomes of these methods can be used as a basis for further work, or function as an example of principled methods. Methods and its outcomes were created in Matlab.

Abstract:
The main aim of this thesis is to introduce issue of averaging of biological signals. The first part of the thesis deals with the principles of individual averaging methods (constant, floating and exponential window) and describes their basic features. Moreover, the principle of filtered residue, detection of QRS complex, and stretching/shrinking the length of RR-interval to the standardized length are explicated. In the second part of the thesis the outcomes of practically realized (Matlab and GUI) methods of averaging (by final signal-to-noise ratio) are evaluated. Signals from MIT-BIH database are used.

Abstract:
Peter, 15 år, ble behandlet for depresjon med CBT. Etter behandling oppfylte han fremdeles kriteriene til mild depressiv episode. Studien har analysert Peters behandling for å undersøke mulige årsaker til utilstrekkelig symptomreduksjon. Kasusstudie ble benyttet som forskningsmetode ut fra et ønske om å forstå et komplekst fenomen i sin naturlige kontekst. Data ble samlet inn gjennom direkte observasjon og ustrukturerte samtaler i terapiforløpet. I analysen ble mønstre i dataene kategorisert og knyttet opp mot empirisk forskning. Analysen avdekket 17 konsepter innenfor 4 systemer: Peters utviklingssystem, foreldrenes omsorgssystem, Peters oppvekstsystem og behandlingssystemet. Konseptene i de 3 første systemene betraktes som risikofaktorer. Konseptene i det siste systemet betraktes som svakheter ved behandlingstilbudet. Funnene illustrerer at årsakene til utilstrekkelig symptomreduksjon er komplekse og kumulative. Basert på funnene ble en alternativ behandling for deprimert ungdom foreslått. Forslaget kombinerer CBT og ABFT i et rammeverk basert på MST. En fordel med forslaget er at mangfoldet av risikofaktorer i større grad blir oppdaget og endret. Ulempen er at gjennomføringen vil kreve betraktelig større økonomiske ressurser enn dagens CBT. Studiens funn gjenspeiler behovet for mer omfattende og brede tiltak i behandling av deprimert ungdom. Videre forskning oppfordres til å utfordre etablerte sannheter om behandling av denne lidelsen.

Abstract:
Syftet med studien är att med en enkät undersöka 39 flerspråkiga gymnasieelevers exponeringstid för svenska utanför klassrummet. Det totala antalet timmar, kumulativ exponeringstid, ställs i relation till elevernas språkliga nivå, testat med språktest avsett att mäta högsta nivån i processbarhetsteorin (PT). Resultatet visar att kumulativ exponeringstid är ett relevant mått på elevers språkliga input och att detta värde korrelerar med språklig nivå, så att 89 % av eleverna med en kumulativ exponeringstid över 10 000 timmar har nått den högsta nivån. Mindre än 16 % av eleverna med en exponeringstid under 10 000 timmar har nått motsvarande nivå. Detta tyder på att elevernas språkliga exponering för målspråket utanför klassrummet har en central roll för deras språkutveckling. Resultatet visar också stora skillnader i elevernas förmåga att producera bisatser. Nästan alla elever använder subjektsrelativer. Objektsrelativer, ett av kriterierna för högsta nivån i PT, tycks kräva betydligt högre språkförmåga och vållar svårigheter, även för de elever som uppnått högsta nivån mätt med andra kriterier.

Abstract:
This master‘s thesis deals with the use of higher order cumulants for classification of cardiac cycles. Second-, third-, and fourth-order cumulants were calculated from ECG recorded in isolated rabbit hearts during experiments with repeated ischemia. Cumulants properties useful for the subsequent classification were verified on ECG segments from control and ischemic group. The results were statistically analyzed. Cumulants are then used as feature vectors for classification of ECG segments by means of artificial neural network.

Abstract:
The objectives of this work is residual lifetime of heaters in petrochemical industry. There is no comprehensive publication about this theme. This paper lists and describes the most of main phenomena that has to be taken into account in the process of determination of residual lifetime. This paper focuses on creep damage of a real heater based on deformation measurement. It describes some heater failures that could cause unplanned operation interruption however, appropriate intervention made possible safe heater operation until planned heater shutdown. No compact method is given how to determine heater residual lifetime, but a direction is given how a complex method of residual lifetime assessment of refinery heaters could be created.

Abstract:

I Sverige genomfördes år 1999 lagen om obligatorisk budplikt för att stärka minoritetsägarnas ställning gentemot stora aktieägare i samband med blockförvärv. Konsekvenserna av implementeringen av denna lag undersöks närmare i denna uppsats. Undersökningen genomförs med hjälp av modifiering av eventstudiemetoden och vidare genom användning av den genomsnittliga kumulativa onormala avkastningen, CAR, som verktyg . Genom att undersöka CAR i samband med offentliggörandet av blockförvärv under tidsperioden 1985- 2005 kan sedermera slutsatser om lagens effekter dras. Resultaten visar att CAR under tidsperioden 1985-2005 genererat en positiv avkastning i samband med offentliggörandet av blockförvärv. Resultaten efter införandet av den obligatoriska budplikten är tvetydiga, vilket försvårar tolkningen av huruvida lagen medfört positiv, negativ eller ingen effekt. Därför är det svårt att utröna om minoritetsägarnas situation förändrats i samband med blockförvärv i Sverige.

Abstract:
In dieser Arbeit wird eine neue Methode zur Reduktion der Boltzmann-Gleichung auf ein System partieller Differentialgleichungen diskutiert. Nach einer kurzen Einführung in die kinetische Theorie einer Mischung inerter Gase wird ein Überblick in die aus der Literatur bekannten Momentenmethoden gegeben. Der anschließend vorgestellten Kumulantenmethode liegt die Annahme zugrunde, daß durch Stoßprozesse in einem Gas Korrelationen höherer Ordnung schneller abgebaut werden als solche niedrigerer Ordnung. Basierend auf dieser Annahme werden die Bewegungsgleichungen für die Kumulanten und die Produktionsterme der resultierenden Bilanzgleichungen für eine Mischung inerter Maxwell-Gase berechnet. Die Untersuchung der Relaxation zum Gleichgewicht erlaubt den Bezug zu bekannten Modellen der Kontinuumsmechanik und untermauert die Gültigkeit der Annahme für die Begründung des o.g. Ansatzes in diesem Fall. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit werden die Ergebnisse numerischer Untersuchungen vorgestellt, wobei Simulationen mit verschiedenen Randbedingungen für Couette- und Poiseulle- Strömungen durchgeführt wurden. Es werden verschiedene Eigenschaften von Modellen für verdünnte Gase als auch des Navier-Stokes-Modells beobachtet. Dabei ist jedoch eine sehr starke Abhängigkeit von den angewendeten Randbedingungen festzustellen. Abschließend werden Momentenmethoden als eine besondere Form von Diskretisierungen der Boltzmann-Gleichung nach der Methode der gewichteten Residuen diskutiert, was einen Ausblick auf zukünftige Arbeiten erlaubt.

Abstract:
This paper deals with the variability of HRF, which may have crucial impact on outcomes of fMRI neuronal activation detection in some cases. There are three methods described - averaging, regression deconvolution and biconjugate gradient method - which provide HRF shape estimation. In frame of simulations regression method, which uses B-spline curves of 4-th order for window length of 30 s, was chosen as the most robust method. Deconvolution estimates was used as HRF models for classic analyse of fMRI data, concretely visual oddball paradigm, via general linear model. Enlargement of localizated areas was observed and after expert consultation with scientific employees from neurology clinic, outcomes was evaluated as relevant. Furthermore Matlab application, which provides confortable observation of HRF variability among brain areas, was made.

Abstract:
Sammanfattning Bakgrund: När vi äter exponeras vi för många potentiellt hälsofarliga substanser som finns i livsmedlen. En del av dessa förekommer i så låga nivåer att de en och en inte uppskattas medföra någon signifikant hälsorisk, men då har man ofta inte tagit hänsyn till de kombinationseffekter som kan uppstå mellan kemikalier. I en blandning är det i vissa fall möjligt att de ingående kemikaliernas toxicitet är så pass lika att halterna kan summeras så att de når upp till toxiska nivåer. Kemikalierna kan också interagera med varandra så att de förstärker eller försvagar varandras effekt. Dessa kombinationseffekter kallas för cocktaileffekter. Syfte: Detta examensarbete syftar till att beskriva mekanismen bakom de kombinationseffekter som kan uppstå i en blandning av kemikalier. Syftet är också att redogöra för metoder för att riskvärdera blandningars hälsoeffekter, samt att tillämpa dessa metoder för att bedöma hälsorisken av bekämpningsmedelsrester och perfluorerade alkylsyror (PFAA), två ämnesgrupper vi exponeras för via maten. Metod: Både bekämpningsmedelsrester och PFAA bedömdes med avseende på levertoxicitet och ett worst case-scenario som inkluderade den känsligaste effekten för varje substans, som rapporterats i den vetenskapliga litteraturen. PFAA bedömdes dessutom med avseende på reproduktionstoxicitet. För att summera de kombinerade riskerna beräknades hazard index (HI). Till detta användes toxikologiska data som erhållits genom litteratursökning, samt exponeringsdata från Livsmedelsverkets undersökningar Matkorgen 2010 och Riksmaten 2010-2011. Resultat: HI för bekämpningsmedelsresterna liksom för PFAAs lever- och reproduktionstoxicitet resulterade i värden under 1, vilket innebär att ingen negativ hälsoeffekt förväntas. Worst case-scenariot för PFAA resulterade i ett HI över 1. Slutsats: Den genomsnittlige svenskens kombinerade exponering för bekämpningsmedelsrester via matkonsumtion verkar inte innebära någon hälsorisk. Detta gäller också för PFAA ifråga om lever- och reproduktionstoxicitet, men är tveksamt för andra mer känsliga effekter.

Abstract:

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur annonseringar om reporänteförändringar påverkar aktiekursen för banker och kommersiella fastighetsbolag samt om räntenivån har en långsiktig effekt på dessa branschers risk gentemot marknaden. Vidare ska det fastställas om det förekommer abnormala avkastningar för dessa två branscher gentemot marknaden vid annonseringstillfälle. 

Studien använder sig av en eventstudiemetodologi med sekundär data där tillkännagivanden angående ränteförändringar från Riksbanken används som eventdag från perioden 2000-2009. Sju företag från OMX Large Cap är indelade i två sektorer där den abormala avkastningen från varje bolag beräknas för att se om det förekommer några skillnader gentemot ett marknadsindex. Vidare undersöks hur den årliga räntenivån påverkar beta och volatiliteten för banker och fastighetsbolag på längre sikt.

Undersökningen finner en statistiskt signifikant men svag positiv korrelation mellan reporänteförändringar och banker där dock inga avgörande slutsatser angående orsaken till detta kan fastställas. Kommersiella fastighetsbolag visar ingen signifikant korrelation mellan ränteförändringar och kumulativa abnormala avkastningar gentemot ett marknadsindex. Vidare påverkas inte dessa två branschers betavärden och volatilitet av räntenivån på lång sikt.
