Abstract:

To discover and develop novel natural compounds with therapeutic selectivity or that can preferentially kill cancer cells without significant toxicity to normal cells is an important area in cancer chemotherapy. Kushen, the dried roots ofSophora flavescensAiton, has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine to treat inflammatory diseases and cancer. Kushen alkaloids (KS-As) and kushen flavonoids (KS-Fs) are well-characterized components in kushen. KS-As containing oxymatrine, matrine, and total alkaloids have been developed in China as anticancer drugs. More potent antitumor activities were identified in KS-Fs than in KS-Asin vitroandin vivo. KS-Fs may be developed as novel antitumor agents.

Abstract:

Introduction. The association of gonadal dysgenesis and Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome is very rare and appears to be coincidental, independent of chromosomal anomalies.Case Report. We report the case of a 19-year-old woman who presented primary amenorrhea and impuberism. The endocrine study revealed hypergonadotrophic hypogonadism. The karyotype was normal, 46XX. No chromosome Y was detected at the FISH analysis. Internal genitalia could not be identified on the pelvic ultrasound and pelvic MRI. Laparoscopy was undertaken and revealed concomitant ovarian dysgenesis and Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. There were no other morphological malformations.Conclusion. The pathogenesis of the association of gonadal dysgenesis and Mayer Rokitansky kuster hauser syndrome is still mysterious. The treatment is based essentially on hormone substitution therapy. The fertility prognosis is unfortunately compromised.

Abstract:

Despite widespread popular use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, a rigorous evidence based on the efficacy of compound kushen injection (CKI) for cancer-related pain is lacking. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of compound kushen injection and provided information for current or future research and clinical application. Sixteen trials were identified with a total of 1564 patients. The total pain relief rate of CKI plus chemotherapy is better than chemotherapy except for colorectal cancer. The treatment groups achieved a reduction in the incidences of leukopenia and gastrointestinal, hepatic, and renal functional lesion. However, there is paucity of multi-institutional RCTs evaluating compound kushen injection for cancer pain with adequate power, duration, and sham control. The quantity and quality of RCTs are lower so that we still have to boost the research level through scientific design and normative report.

Abstract:

The study of bats diversity was conducted in Kolej Universiti Sains dan Teknologi Malaysia (KUSTEM) from July until December 2004. The objective is to examine the diversity of bat species in KUSTEM area for conservation purpose. Ten mist nets were used as the capturing device. Species identification was based on the forearm measurement, weight, sex, maturity status and their reproduction. Bats were released after identification. A total of 99 individual bats were captured, comprising of two families and four species. Three species were frugivorous bats, Cynopterus brachyotis, Cynopterus horsfieldii and Eonycteris major from the family Pteropodidae. One insectivorous species, Kerivoulla papillosa was captured from the family Vespertillionidae. Cynopterus brachyotis is the highest captured individual and species, representing 70.97% of total capture. Shannon-Weiner index is 0.8569 and Simpson index is 0.4504. The bat diversity in KUSTEM is influenced by the capture device and duration of study.

Laparoscopic Vecchietti and Davydov are laparoscopic surgery techniques that are often used for neovaginal surgery Objective This paper aims to compare the success rate of neovagina with the Vecchietti laparoscopic method and Davydov's laparoscopic method in patients with Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKH) Methods: A systematic data search was performed on a medical database (PUBMED, MEDLINE, Cochrane Database, Google Scholar). Inclusion criteria: (1) randomized randomized study of the Vecchietti Laparoscopic Method with Davydov’s Laparoscopy, (2) all inclusive papers can be accessed completely, and (3) the data obtained can be accurately analyzed Data acquisition and analysis: We searched for a random blind study (RCT) with the following keywords: (1) Vecchietti Laparoscopy [title] AND (2) Davydov’s Laparoscopy [title] AND Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome [title] Results: Three RCTs comparing neovaginal success with the Vecchietti laparoscopic method and Davydov's laparoscopic method a total of 122 patients were analyzed. Average vaginal length (mean difference [MD] -0.70, and 95% [CI] -0.99 to -0.41 (P <0.00001), Average number of Female Sexual Function Index scores (mean difference [MD] -1.34, and 95% [CI] -1.71 through -0.96. Abstract:

The present article features a collection of prehistoric artifacts obtained at the Kushek-4 site. The excavations were conducted along the right bank of the Uly-Zhylanshik river in the south of the Turgay in 2006. The stone tools collected from the surface underwent a technical and typological analysis, which made it possible to date the site. The main parameters of the technical and typological analysis included primary rock flakes, morphological parameters and size of the plates, percentage ratio of ingots and tools from plates and rock flakes, methods of secondary processing, and the typological composition of the tool kit. The nature of the raw materials was an independent indicator. The technical and typological indicators of the stone tools from the Kushek-4 site corresponded to the second group of monuments of the Turgay Depression with their rich Neolithic material. The stone tools were homogeneous and dated from the late Mesolithic to the late Neolithic.

Precis. The postoperative course of a neovagina creation procedure in a young woman with Meyer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome was complicated, despite prophylaxis, by extensive pelvic deep venous thrombosis secondary to unsuspected severe inferior vena cava stenosis.Background. Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is characterized by congenital vaginal agenesis and an absent or rudimentary uterus in genotypical females. Malformations of the inferior vena cava (IVC) are not commonly associated with MRKH syndrome. We report a case of a patient with MRKH syndrome with severe IVC stenosis that was diagnosed when the patient presented with extensive pelvic deep venous thrombosis (DVT) during the postoperative course of a neovagina creation.Case. A 19-year-old female underwent a McIndoe procedure. Despite DVT prophylaxis, extensive pelvic DVT of the femoral vein was diagnosed on postoperative day 7. Therapeutic anticoagulation was initiated, and pharmacological and mechanical thrombolysis were performed. During these procedures, a hypoplastic IVC was noted.Conclusion. MRKH syndrome can be associated with IVC malformations, which constitute an anatomical risk factor for postoperative DVT.

Abstract:

This paper illustrates and discusses shells from the Lamarck collection held by the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle, Geneva, and placed by Lamarck in the gastropod genera Fasciolaria and Fusus in the family Fasciolariidae. Many are type specimens. Fusus rubens Lamarck, 1822 is rediscovered and is the senior name for the species known as Peristernia zealandica (Kuster and Kobelt, 1876).

Lingkungan yang sehat perlu dilakukan pengawasan agar terhindar dari dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan maupun keselamatan. Salah satu diantara kualitas lingkungan yang sehat adalah terhindar dari pencemaran udara dengan zat pencemaran yaitu debu. Dngan ukurannya yang sangat kecil,debu dapat menyelinap dan diam lama dalam perabotan rumah tangga yang apabila dibiarkan maka dapat berbahaya bagi kesehatan, diantaranya iritasi pada mata, sering bersin-bersin, iritasi pada kulit dan gangguan pernapasan. Tujan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kadar debu pada Pertukangan Kayu PK Bodas Kusen dan permukiman terdekat Pertukangan Kayu PK Bodas Kusen.Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif, yaitu suatu metode penelitian yang dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk membuat gambaran suatu keadaan secara objektif dan memecahkan atau menjawab permasalahan yang sedang dihadapi pada permasalahan sekarang.Hasil penelitian pengukuran kadar debu pada pertukangan kayu PK Bodas Kusen dengan menggunakan Dusttrek selama pengukura 15 menit adalah 0,491 mg/m3 dan setelah dikonversikan ke 8 jam adalah 15,712 mg/m3. Sedangkan hasil penelitian pengukuran kadar debu pada permukiman yang terdekat dengan pertukangan kayu PK Bodas Kusen selama 15 menit pengukuran adalah didapatkan hasil tertinggi sebesar 0,362 mg/m3 atau 362 µg/m3, hasil terendah sebesar 0,302 mg/m3 atau 302 µg/m3 dan didapatkan hasil rata-rata sebesar 0,317 mg/m3 atau 317µg/m3 sedangkan setelah dikonversikan ke 24 jam di dapatkan hasil tertinggi sebesar yaitu sebesar 30,432 mg/m3 atau 30.432 µg/m3, hasil terendah sebesar 28,991 mg/m3 atau 28.991 µg/m3 dan didapatkan hasil rata-rata sebesar 30,432 mg/m3 atau 30.432µg/m3.Masyarakat seharusnya membersihkan rumah dan perabotnya minimal 2 kali sehari dan menyiram halaman rumah untuk mengurangi debu yang berterbangan, sedangkan untuk pihak Pertukngan Kayu PK Bodas Kusen seharusnya menambah fasilitas penghisap debu yang sifatnya lokal dengan cara didekatkan ke sumbernya dan menyediakan APD untuk para pekerja.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a rare disorder described as aplasia or hypoplasia of uterus and vagina due to an early arrest in the development of Mullerian ducts. The etiology of MRKH syndrome remains uncertain: Although at the beginning, it was mentioned that this syndrome was the result of sporadic abnormalities. It has recently been assumed the genetic background is the cause of the increasing number of familial cases. CASE REPORT: A 29-year-old female patient presented with amenorrhea. She also has normal pubic and axillary hair and breast development. Routine investigations were normal. Genitalia inspection shows that pubic hair was well developed, labia majora and vagina were seen. Inspeculo show that vaginal wall was smooth, but portio was not seen. Vaginal examination result: The uterus was unpalpable, both adnexa were normal, parametrium was laxed, and Douglas pouch was not protruded. Rectal examination shows that uterus and both adnexa were difficult to identify. Transvaginal sonography revealed absence of uterus, both ovaries within normal. Transvaginal sonography diagnosed a uterine aplasia. With this, the provisional diagnosis made as primary amenorrhea due to suspected MRKH syndrome, the patient was referred for follicle-stimulating hormone, estradiol, testosterone, and prolactin levels by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay examination and the result was within normal limit followed by genetic karyotyping and the result was normal 46, XX. CONCLUSIONS: We report a 29-year-old woman with primary amenorrhea. From our examination, the patient was diagnosed with MRKH syndrome. Uterus transplant is an alternative for that woman to treat amenorrhea and possibility to get pregnant.

Adapun komponen kayu pengamatan yaitu daun pintu, kusen pintu, dinding, daun jendela, kusen jendela, plafon,lisplang, dan tiang bangunan. Objek penelitian yaitu seluruh bangunan yang terdapat di lingkunga USI yang memiliki komponen kayu. Bagian kayu yang rusak diukur dimensinya, baik panjang, lebar dan tebalnya. Kemudian dihitung persentase kerusakan komponen kayu bangunan dan diamati tingkat kerusakannya. Intensitas serangan rayap yang menyerang bngunan di Universitas Simalungun termasuk dalam kategori sedang.Ada 2 rayap yang menyerang di Universitas Simalungun yaitu rayap tanah jenis Coptotermes curvignatus dan Macrotermes gilvus dari famili Termitidae dan jenis rayap Cryptotermes cynocephalus dari famili Kalotermitidae.

Abstract:

Objetivo: Abordar a Síndrome de Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (SMRKH) e o tumor ovariano de células germinativas do tipo disgerminoma, analisando a associação entre essas duas patologias, bem como suas complicações. Além de discorrer sobre os tratamentos ofertados para ambos, evidenciando o manejo da paciente e a abordagem cirúrgica realizada no caso descrito. Detalhamento do caso: Paciente, 20 anos, quadro clínico de amenorreia primária associada a aumento progressivo do volume abdominal e dor pélvica, aos exames evidenciou-se lesão expansiva sólida e heterogênea em ovário direito, concomitantemente a achados de disgenesia da porção inferior do útero e superior da vagina, equivalentes da SMRKH. Após tratamento cirúrgico indicado, revelou disgerminoma de ovário de estadiamento pT1N1, FIGO IIIA1. Seguimento com quimioterapia e posterior acompanhamento, sem sinais de recidiva até o presente momento. A coleta de informações foi autorizada pela paciente através do termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido (TCLE). Considerações finais: Após revisao de literatura comparativa ao caso apresentado, conclui-se que a associação entre a Síndrome de Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (SMRKH) e o tumor ovariano de células germinativas, do tipo desgerminoma é rara. E a abordagem com cirurgia citorredutora completa do cancer de ovário associada a quimioterapia, junto à amparo psicologico às pacientes é um possivel conduta.

Mayer-Rokitanski-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a rare disease. A 27-year-old woman was admitted for primary amenorrhea and cyclic pelvic pain. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed bilateral Müllerian remnants with functioning endometrium and a pelvic mass considered to be an endometriotic cyst. Bilateral Müllerian remnants were removed, and right ovarian cystectomy was performed at laparoscopic surgery. Accurate evaluation before the operation and informed consent are necessary to treat patients with MRKH syndrome.

Introducción: la agenesia de vagina representa una malformación infrecuente cuyas principales causas son el síndrome de Rokitansky-Mayer-Kuster-Hauser y la insensibilidad a los andrógenos o síndrome de feminización testicular. Su tratamiento se enfoca a la restauración de la función sexual y la mayoría de técnicas quirúrgicas descritas se caracterizan por su complejidad y requerimiento de instrumentos especiales. El objetivo de este documento es la presentación de una técnica simplificada de neovagina.Metodología: reporte de 4 pacientes con agenesia de vagina a las que se les realizó una neovagina a través de una modificación de la técnica de McIndoe mediante la utilización de compresa adsorbente de bacterias, con seguimiento de 8 a 18 meses.Resultados: se intervinieron tres pacientes con síndrome Rokitansky-Mayer-Kuster-Hauser y la cuarta con síndrome de feminización testicular y cariotipo XY. En uno de los casos se evidenció ruptura de recto distal al inicio de la cirugía, complicación que se identificó y corrigió de manera primaria con adecuada evolución. El tiempo de hospitalización varió de 2 a 3 días. No hubo evidencia de complicaciones a mediano y largo plazo, y se documentó el inicio de relaciones sexuales alrededor de 40 días posteriores a la intervención.Conclusión: la técnica quirúrgica descrita surge como una opción que hace el procedimiento más sencillo para restaurar la función sexual de mujeres con esta afección.
