Abstract:
Abstract Yayoi Kusama's polka dot art and Infinity Mirror rooms have made her one of the most successful artists alive today. Her more than seven-decade-long career has provided ample fodder for scholars to examine her artistic preoccupations. This article considers the scholarly consensus on the role of performance in Kusama's oeuvre and then examines two works, a 1968 happening and a 2013 illustrated book, in which Kusama (1929‐present) adapts Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland novels. By adapting Alice, Kusama is able to sharpen themes and symbols that she has deployed since the early days

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents an attempt to critically investigate the literary work of Japanese artist Kusama Yayoi (b. 1929). It takes as its object two of Kusama’s early prose texts and, by reading them through a feminist account of identity as fetishism, shows that the two novels presented in this paper-Kurisutofā danshō kutsu (1984) and Rijin kāten no shūjin (1984)-can be understood as a critical engagement with a potentially non-normative feminine self and, in a broader sense, as a negotiation of the state of being a woman in a patriarchal/androcentric society. Abstract:
This essay presents persona as a trajectory of contemporary art in the post- industrial art world, in which artists’ “work” increasingly includes non-art activities such as networking and media publicity. After discussing pressing issues in art scholarship in regards to the disciplinary tradition and persona studies, I analyse the image of the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (b. 1929) who has been operating in the Western-dominated international art world since the 1960s. Arriving in the U.S. in 1957, Kusama quickly became one of the most prolific and notorious artists in New York. However, by th

In the present dissertation, we will analyse the role of drawing used in art therapy for people with mental illness, based on two segments. Firstly, we will carry out a theoretical investigation based on the connection between drawing and mental illness, as well as its use in the context of art-therapy. Secondly, we will do report based on an art-therapy project for people with mental illness, developed between the author and Santarém’s Hospital Psychiatry Department, in which art workshops were developed, being drawing one of the artistic competences approached with greater preponderance.
