Full textPrevious research regarding school social workers and school counselors has shown that their role in school is unclear and that their work is relatively unregulated. Despite this there have been few studies, especially in Sweden, in the area of school counselors. Particularly the discretion of the school counselor is an aspect of the area that is relatively unexplored. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the school counselors experience and interpretation of their discretion in the exercise of their profession. The study has a qualitative approach. Five semi-structured interviews with school counselors were conducted. Michael Lipsky’s theory of street-level bureaucrats and his theoretical concept of discretion have been used as a theoretical framework in this study. The results show that the school counselors experience the laws and guidelines that are applicable for their work as loose and interpretable. They also experience their discretion as large. The results also show that there are several factors that can affect the school counselors’ discretion, factors that can both shrink their discretion and make it larger.

Full textSyftet med denna uppsats är att studera några lärares motiveringar till användandet av läxor, vad det kan finnas för för- och nackdelar med att ge läxor. Uppsatsen bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer med sex lärare som arbetar i grundskolan.
Uppsatsens huvudfrågor är hur lärare definierar och motiverar läxor i grundskolan samt om läxor är en nödvändighet för att elever ska kunna nå målen i kursplanen.
Läxor har som pedagogiskt medel funnits länge och ges ofta av traditionella skäl. Forskning kring läxor visar dels att sambandet mellan läxläsning och inlärning är lågt, dels att läxan öppnar för reflektion och repetition då tiden i skolan inte räcker till.
Resultatet av studien visar att de intervjuade lärarna ger läxor, antalet och utformningen skiljer sig. De argument för läxan som kommer fram är bland annat att den ger tillfälle till reflektion i lugn och ro och att den öppnar för kommunikation mellan hem och skola. De lärare som arbetar med barnen i de tidigare åldrarna menar att läxan mer eller mindre är nödvändig för läsinlärningen. Motargument som framkommer är den stress elever kan uppleva, då den inkräktar på fritiden samt att den tar tid att förbereda och följa upp.
Studiens slutsats är den att det behövs någon form av reglering för läxor och hur de ges.

Full textThe aim of this study is to explore the instrumental teachers' perceptions and experience of working with rhythm in instrumental teaching. To investigate the this purpose, four instrumental teachers have been interviewed about rhythmically-inspired teaching. The background chapter describes the Dalcroze method, rhythmically-inspired teaching and previous research on rhythmics. The theoretical starting point for this study is a pheomenolocical perspective with a life-world perspective used to take part in the instrumental teachers' experience in the use of rhythmically-inspired teaching. The method used in this study consists of semi-structured interviews and is presented in the method chapter. Thematic analysis is also presented as the studys method of analysis. The result chapter presents the instrumental teachers' use and view of rhythmically inspired teaching. The chapter is divided into three themes: the view of rhythmically-inspired teaching, the use of rhythmically-inspired teaching andconstraints. The results show that the teachers use rhythmic themes in a similar way. However they use it in various amount. Rhythmically-inspired teaching that emerges is handclaps, stamp, pulse and the body is used for the learning of pace, periodicity and gesture. Evident in the analysis is that most teachers in the study want to use rhythmically inspired teaching but due to limitations such as time, space and ignorance, they do not. These teachers also want more education to learn more about rhythmics and how it can be integrated with the instruments they teach. In the discussion, the study's research questions are divided in two themes: the use of rhythmically-inspired teaching and the view of rhythmically-inspired teaching.

Full textThe purpose of this qualitative interview study was to research with the help of sociological theories the reasons why resilient children despite a destructive childhood can evolve to social functioning humans. Resilient children in this study have grown up with addiction and/or mental illness among parents in childhood. Data was collected by semi structured interviews with four different themes: the social heritage, education and work, social network and health and well-being. Which we analyzed with the help of the theoreticalframeworks, Antonovskys theory Salutogenesis and Bourdieus Reproduction theory. The results showed that the presence of safety figures in childhood as well as the opportunity to experience a different family dynamic and another environment than their own home environment has affected them positively. Even their abstinence approach to alcohol and drugs, and that they have a strong sense of responsibility has affected their overall social capital positively.
