Full textThe study of woman adultery representation in woman litterature allows to explain her subversive function and tobring some permanent facts of female sexuality to light. The analysis of six excepts (from "guigemar" of marie de france, "la princesse de cleves" of mme de la fayette, "valen tine" of g sand, "l'ingenue libertine" of colette, "les mandarins" of s. De beauvoir and "la chambre des dames" of j. Bourin) is made with the concepts of greimas' semiotique. The mother image, hidden under the one of the lover, correpondsto the most repressed part of woman psychoanalytic history : her love for her mother, and tokes its roots in the most primary narcissism. This repression explains the way of functionning of feminine desire as it is represented : her desire is maintened secret and lays on a splitting body mind. It is linked to a seduction model which recalls the primary seduc -tion excerced by the mother during the bodycare. The present sentimental litterature obeys the same requirements, even if the adultery lover gives his place to a pre-marital lover ; despite of the emergence of love mariage, only the lover and not the husband can sustain this love figure, merged and mystical, which is based on an ideal image of mother daughter relationship

Full textThis study focuses on the Regina Latina manuscript of 1363. It consists of a critical edition of L'Amant Rendu Cordelier a l'Observance d'Amours and a literary study. The critical edition is composed of various complementary stages : a presentation of the manuscript tradition; a study of the manuscript language (phonetics, morphology, syntax); an innovative lexical study; remarks concerning versification; a presentation of principles of the manuscript transcription (notably concerning the limited number of corrections, which reflects the quality of the chosen manuscript); variations of six other manuscripts; notes; a glossary; an appended transcription of a manuscript representative of the other group of manuscript (different from the edited one); an edition of the text following the R1 manuscript. As for the literary study, it first analyses the literary genre of the text which draws on the tradition of La Belle sans Mercy. This study considers the context, the combination of the sacred and the profane and medieval symbolism. Secondly, the literary study attempts to demonstrate the originality of the poem, operating beyond the limits of clichéd settings, codes of dialogue and stereotypical figures. Finally, the last part of the literary study highlights the aesthetic dimension of the poem which skillfully combines the "Je" and the "jeu" (that is to say the narrative voice, the speaker's position and the play of language), offering an innovative perspective, not only on the theme of love (love and relationships between men and women) but above all on poetic writing. All these elements contribute to making the poem resolutely modern and seductive

Full textThe goal of this study is to show the renewal of the written sentence in two novels by duras published in 1950 and 1984. We will be concentrating on un barrage contre le pacifique and l'amant. This work analyzes and defines the sentence in both novels. First of all, a theoretical definition of the sentence ( which serves as a framework for analyzing the corpus ), and then an exposition on the different phrasal occurrences in the two works. Progression in two steps: 1. The examination of general parameters ( average length, standard deviation, coefficient of variation ); 2. The study of sentence distribution according to their type and coefficient of complexity. The second part of this work studies the interphrasal relationship in the dialogic discourse, the presence of the narrator, and characters' modality of speech. In the structrual framework of the novel, techniques of tense and their function have been examined. This study, by choosing a fundamental element of an author's style, aims to base its research on a grammatical method, to reinforce and affirm the stylistic conclusions it will bear on the books studied

Full textIn the twelfth century, Marie de France was the first female author when she wrote The Lays. The Genji Monogatari of Murasaki Shikibu (a woman as well), written in the tenth century in Heian-Kyô Japan (a time when the imperial Court was located in the "Peace Capital", Kyoto) is exceptional too due to a male-dominated literary landscape and for such a voluminous. This study suggests a contrastive and mythocritical approach comparing the two works in the observation through a feminine imaginary of love and the Other. The main objective of this study is to determine if the common motives indicate the universality defined by the context, or reveal a common eurasiatic origin. The notion of "courtly love", a western creation, is applicable to the loving ethic developped in the Genji Monogatari. However, it necessitates an enlarged conception centered on codification and refinement of loving behaviour, as described in literature. In addition, we looked into the connexions of both texts with archetypal eurasiatic narratives, as the swan-maiden bathing, or a male version about men-animals (falcon or snake). The latter behave as "dead-alives", going and coming according to lunar and agrarian (therefore seasonal) cycle, between the Other World and the human world. Finally, this feminine imaginary is based on the representation of the exiles, and the writing in exile, demonstrating its intrinsic marginality

Full textEsta tese se constrói a partir de uma leitura entrecruzada da recepção da obra de Clarice Lispector, na França, e da recepção da obra de Marguerite Duras, no Brasil, com vistas a examinar a inserção das mesmas nos sistemas literários francês e brasileiro, respectivamente. Tal leitura comparada, por centrar-se na análise do deslocamento entre duas instituições literárias culturalmente distintas, além de encontrar respaldo nos princípios teóricos da Estética da Recepção e da Teoria do Efeito Estético, fundamenta-se em princípios teóricos relativos à imagem/ao imaginário, no sentido de buscar esclarecer a relação do Mesmo com o Outro nas suas diversas representações. Por outro lado, na medida em que pelo menos uma dessas representações ocorre, no âmbito desta tese, através da relação estabelecida entre texto original e texto traduzido, a referida leitura comparada também encontra respaldo em princípios teóricos relativos à tradução (criativa). Quanto ao recorte das obras a serem analisadas, o mesmo foi feito de forma a evidenciar, primeiramente, no primeiro capítulo, as confluências existentes entre essas obras ― a saber: A paixão segundo G.H. e A hora da estrela, de Clarice Lispector, e L’amant e Le ravissement de Lol V. Stein, de Marguerite Duras ―, o que se revela na leitura das imagens do Mesmo, e, em seguida, no segundo capítulo, os percursos diversos que essas obras em tradução ― a saber: La passion selon G.H. e L’heure de l’étoile, de Clarice Lispector, e O amante e O deslumbramento, de Marguerite Duras ― empreendem nos sistemas literários que as acolhem, o que se mostra na leitura entrecruzada das imagens do Outro. Finalmente, no terceiro capítulo, é apresentado um exame do processo tradutório, com base em dados lingüísticos e culturais, através do qual as referidas obras literárias foram recebidas pelos leitores francês e brasileiro. Ao longo dessa trajetória teórico-crítica, a percepção da autonomia dessas obras literárias permite a recontextualização de suas recepções, o que nos possibilita, por fim, responder a estas perguntas: - a recepção da obra de Clarice Lispector, na França, reafirma o mito brasileiro, nesse país, ou contribui para desfazê-lo? – a recepção da obra de Marguerite Duras, no Brasil, reafirma o paradigma literário francês, nesse país, ou contribui para quebrálo?
This thesis is built from an intercrossed reading of Clarice Lispector’s work acceptance in France, and Marguerite Duras’ work acceptance in Brazil, in aim to analyze their insertion on the French and Brazilian literary systems, respectively. Such compared reading, because it is centered on the evaluation of the displacement between two culturally distinct literary institutions, besides finding support on the Aesthetic of Reception theoretical principles and on the Aesthetic Effect Theory, is based on theoretical principles related to the image/imaginary, aiming clarify the relationship of the Same with the Other on its several representations. On the other hand, while at least one of these representations occurs, on this thesis ambit, through the relationship established between the original text and the translated text, the referred compared analysis also finds support in theoretical principles related to the (creative) translation. As for the cutting of the works to be analyzed, it was made in aim to evidence, first, on the first chapter, the existing confluences between these works — to know: A paixão segundo G.H. and A hora da estrela, of Clarice Lispector, and L’amant and Le ravissement de Lol V. Stein of Marguerite Duras — , what is reveled on the reading of the Same’s images, and, following, on the second chapter, the several routes that these works in translation, — to know La passion selon G.H. and L’heure de l’étoile, of Clarice Lispector and O amante and O deslumbramento of Marguerite Duras — attempt on the literary systems that shelter them, what is shown on the intercrossed reading of the Other’s images. Finally, on the third chapter, it is presented a translation process examination, based on linguistic and cultural data, through which the referred literary works were received by French and Brazilian readers. Through this theoretical-critical trajectory, the perception of these works’ autonomy allows the recontexturing of their receptions, which allows us, at last, to answer these questions: - does the reception of Clarice Lispector’s work in France, reaffirm the Brazilian myth, in this country, or does it contribute to demolish it? – does the reception of Marguerite Duras’ work in Brazil, reassures the French literary paradigm, in this country, or does it contribute to break it?

The death indeed joins in the continuity of the life, all the progress of the narrative is guided, even precipitated towards the topic of the end. The durassienne work testifies of the loss of the sense. The scandal that represent all the scenes of the death (wars, genocides, suicides, old ages,. . . ) is at the origin of the literary creation of Marguerite Duras, it generally fulfils a curative and therapeutic function. Thus, various employment that Marguerite makes of term "death" or of its synonyms, allow to see that she never speaks about the death with indifference or serenity. Full textThis ethnocritic research aims at exploring the cultural poetry existing within Marguerite Duras’ Indochinese cycle. Our text corpus is composed of Un Barrage contre le Pacifique (1950), L’Eden Cinéma (1977), L’Amant (1984) and L’Amant de la Chine du Nord (1991), and follows the « autobiographical » narrative path of Duras’colonial childhood through the reminicence of constantly reworked themes and patterns. The purpose of our work is to question the expression of a pluralistic culture. Cultural practices, language polyphonies, cultural dialogics, intertextualities and interpenetrations between diverse cultures are fundamental issues to understand Duras’ writings. Furthermore, my thesis is based on a cultural hermeneutic approach, so as to grasp the symbolic systems of the texts and by that means shine a light on the ritual structure of the narration. According to our perspective, Duras’ characters and their trajectories are intimately connected to the notion of initiation. What’s more, this essay argues that initatory issuues impacts the narrator (as a fictional projection of the author) as well as her real and historical creative journey. Analyzincontinua and belligerences between literacy and orality (and thus corporeality) eventualy leads to a better understanding of the creative process

Full textThe idea for this thesis arose from a certain documentary void regarding a whole segment of Duras' work : her final years...despite being a period in which she often came in for harsh criticism, seem to us her most fruitful and accomplished, during which she avoided dwelling on the psychology of her protagonists, and opted for a narrative structure based more upon certain archetypes (such as that of the ideal man, epitomised by Andréa, the younger brother, or Ernesto) hence going against modern trends. This return to an archaic style of literature is symptomatic of Duras' quest for an even more radical "feminology" than that of Antoinette Fouque. But is similar in its connection with Michelet's witch.Only the witch/sorcerer is capable of detecting the unspeakable and retranscribing it, not by the magic of the Word (directly borrowed from the male-God logos) but by the force of the unsaid. Thus Duras assumes this abdication in the face of rhetoric. So the long-awaited male, Yann Andrea, finally joins the novelist. This flesh and blood archetype inspires in her a new sense of literary ceativity like certains ladies in the Middle Ages inspired by their champions.Our novel approach to Duras tries to show how she treated in an archaic/anachronistic way what others considered as the couple's contemporary problems. What emerges from this carefully crafted discrepancy is a form of dialectic we'll call "The dynamic of masculine/feminine in the last period of literary creativity of M.D. through her novels and narratives

Full textTwo important characteristics of petroleum exploration and production investment are the high financial amounts and uncertainties. For these reasons, the risk analysis should be implemented in the projects evaluation and the selection process. Depending on their available resources, petroleum companies choose a number of projects on the basis of som criteria : the net present value, internal rate of return, profitability index. However, these criteria appear to be insufficient if we consider, on the one hand, the absence of risk idea which is an essential element of the petroleum industry, on the other hand the omission of the correlations and interactions between different projects. In this paper, in order to make up for the lacks of the traditional approach, we apply a variant of Markowitzs method to determine the efficient portfolio exploration and production projects that insure the best compromise minimum risk-maximum return under the different constraints faced by the company. A practical application of this method about selection of petroleum exploration projects in the North Sea is presented. This practica case illustrates the influence of the crude price in the choice of the portfolio

Full textThe aim of the study is to assess the psychological consequences of asbestos-related disease screening and to determine the factors of psychological distress among asbestos-exposed people. It is a quantitative and longitudinal study based on auto-questionnaires filed out at three times of the screening : at baseline ; after medical examinations and one year later. Psychological consequences are assessed by PCQ. Subjects are also asked about perceived exposition, knowledge about asbestos diseases, risk perception, perceived health and their familiarity with asbestos-related diseases. This study demonstrated that asbestos-related disease screening is associated with long-term psychological distress. The results highlight the particular vulnerability of subjects undergoing this kind of screening program

Full textStandardization activities are dedicated to the elaboration of rules which are used to prescribe practices through obligations of results (product characteristics) or obligations of means (production processes characteristics). These rules can be elaborated by firms or by industry associations. Our study contributes to answer two economic questions of the oil upstream industry. The first one is the measurement of the added value of the use of industry standards in the elaboration of the firm references documents collections (its technical specifications). The second one is related to the different types of standardizations and the idea that industry standardization is a tool to organize concurrency of the market in the oil industry.Firstly, the use of standards is essential to produce efficiently, safely (without accident) for many years and often essential in order to access natural resources. Secondly the identification of the main sources of standardization benefits, in addition to the conventionalist analyze of quality and of the “mondes de production” help us to identify four productive interfaces for which a mix of standardization (with internal and external standardization) is more adapted. Finally the prevention of risks, and more globally the quality management, is positively impacted by industrial standardization.Nevertheless, the gains observed in our case study cannot be transposed to other case studies because, as the institutionalism theory and the conventionalism theory explain, the interrogation about the benefits of standardization cannot be completely resolved because of the diversity of the type of standards in one side, and the diversity of production situations in the other side

Full textIn the sierra nevada of merida, in a national park, the peasants name themselves "wheat people" - this cereal is cultivated in the region since the beginning of the colonial period - as well as "highland people" - they live near the "paramo" summits. This double identity can be lived as a contradictory experience and requires to keep up intricate relationships with the environment. Following the local space categories, practices are related to the ways of inhabiting, cultivating, using and also taming the environment. From the house to the paramo, we study in detail agrarian practices and knowledges, the sharing of tasks and territories between men and women on the one hand, between human beings and mountain spirits on the other hand. Those spaces correspond with different sociabilities, analized according to a temporal axis. Seasons and religious celebrations give rythm the life of the households, which are related to kinship and "compadrazgo" relationships. Forms of work organisation and eating habits stengthen the feeling of community adherence and show some essential social values. After analysis of life time and body perception - feminine, masculine - oral tradition is also studied, in particular a mythology which reveals the problem of crossbreeding. Isolated from the rest of the population, the inhabitants feel sometimes desarmed in their relationship with others (park) and with change (city), in spite they show real capacities to migrate, adapt and bring changes

Full textThe thesis entitled Fictional character: from tradition to transgression is based mainly on the convergences of In Search of Lost Time of Marcel Proust and the Cycle of Indochina of Marguerite Duras. We show how Marcel Proust and Marguerite Duras have surpassed the limits of stereotypes of literature while keeping links with the traditional description.The first part is devoted to the traditional representation of the portrait and character of the characters in the two writers. For this, we are interested in the intertextual links that make up the character and the portrait of the Proustian and Durassian characters.The second part questions the deconstruction of the stereotypes of the identity of the characters in the two writers. Proust and Duras choose to distance themselves from classical writers insofar as they allow us to grasp the characters in all their complexity and from completely different perspectives. We show how the themes already used by the great classical writers appear in the Proustian work and the Durassian work, rich in hidden codes.The third part engages a development of the theme of love as a subject of transgression. We show how Proust and Duras go beyond the limits of tradition by representing enjoyment, erotic encounters and figures of desire, from the most discreet to the most scandalous

Full textPlaces of openness and cultural mixing, cities feed fantasies and utopias. They swarm, taking over the countryside. The subject of investigation here is the city in antiquity, Carthage in Gustave Flaubert's Salammbo, and the Egyptian city of Abou during the times of the Pharaohs in Naguib Mahfouz' Pharaoh's Lover. The thesis examines the representation of the city in the novels of Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880), and Naguib Mahfouz, the master of Arabic literature (1911-2006). Our starting point is the following question, "What is the importance of the city for the two novelists?" The analysis brings together comparative, historic and thematic perspectives. It show cases the creative manner in which Mahfouz received French 19th century novels

Full textFrom the finding of the increase of disabled students in the higher education, this thesis develops two main axes. Firstly, it examines the extent, nature and characteristics of this higher education’s democratization. In a second time, it strives to grasp the several forms of student experience and carrer prospects found out from the exploitation of different surveys. Systematically, the situations and trajectories of the disabled students have been compared to those of their valid counterparts, but also according to the kind of disability.Finally, several conclusions have been drawn. First, the kind of democratization observed is mainly a segregated one : it diffracts situations according to studies and courses followed. Moreover, it causes an important drop out. Secondly, whatever the subject is (connexion to the studies, academic integration, success, sociability), the differences of experiences recorded between disabled and valid students are more in terms of degree than nature. Finally, the student experience is often linked to positive perceptions of the future and to a clear improving of the occupational integration ; in other words, the graduation « pays ». However, the comparative advantages obtained stay lesser than those benefiting to valid students. This double movement (improvement of the situations but persistence of inequalities) often leads to a sense of frustration

Full textBetween 4300 and 3500 BCE, the distribution of bedoulian flint in southern Chassey culture context reached a considerable scale. The flint blocks extracted from lower Cretaceous outcrops in northern Vaucluse was formed in specialized workshops situated near the deposits. It was then exported as unheated blades, but also as heated cores prepared to knap bladelets by pressure on consumer sites. The aim of this study is to understand better the organization of Chassey societies, distribution of networks from upstream to downstream, dealing with the question of enhancement of craft specializations which is one of the most important aspects. The productions are dealt with through networks, which is an original approach, because until now the studies have involved isolated sites or corpus of sites within a region. The study area is large, and therefore we have chosen to focus on the common specialized production, that is to say blades and bladelets of heated and unheated bedoulian flint, but also on other materials (Oligocene flint, Senonian flint, Los Monegros flint) in all sites. The corpus includes sites geographically positioned upstream to downstream of networks and have access to specialized productions: the only producer site which was the subject of a methodical excavation (Saint-Martin, Vaucluse), consumer sites (Les Moulins, Drôme, L’Héritière, Bouches-du-Rhône and Saint-Antoine, Hérault), a hypothetical central redistributor site (Auriac, Aude) and sites on the margins of the extension area of southern Chassey culture (St. Michel-du-Touch and Château-Percin, Haute-Garonne). Firstly, a methodology based on a traceological approach and materials science has enabled us to note that the heat treatment affects the stone fracturing and its path by changing the porosity and decreasing the tenacity. It could be shown, especially by edge acuity and mechanic tests or use of heated and unheated bladelets in a blind test, that the change in the properties of the stone results in an improvement in the sharpness of the blades. The functional analysis was then used to further our understanding of the role of specialized productions in the sous-systèmes techniques, that is to say, to understand how and for what purpose these tools were used. Lastly, the analysis was expanded into more general issues concerning the organization of exchange networks. These ideas are based on the level of integration of sites to different networks and lead to discussions on complementarity and operation of these networks

Full textThis thesis is dedicated to the Chinese reception of Marguerite Duras’publications, and more specifically to the following never before seen literary phenomenon : the bond between the reception of The Lover and the birth of the Chinese autofiction. Based on this phenomenon, we’ve put forward the hypothesis that The Lover has played a fundamental role in the emergence of the Chinese autofiction. Our process relies on the general reception of The Lover in China, therefore, after putting into focus the bond between the latter book and the hypothetical Chinese autofiction itself, we continue with the production of a thorough and concrete analysis on two Chinese autofictions, before proceeding to the generic establishment of the Chinese autofiction as a literary genre by basing ourselves on the criteria determining its French counterpart. At the end of our study, we address a literary fact existing both in China and in France : it is women writers who devote themselves in greater numbers to the practice of autofiction. We seek to determine the reason for this fact
