Abstract:
We consider the K -interpolation methods involving slowly varying functions. We establish some reiteration formulae including so-called L or R limiting interpolation spaces as well as the R R , R L , L R , and L L extremal interpolation spaces. These spaces arise in the limiting situations. The proofs of most reiteration formulae are based on Holmstedt-type formulae. Applications to grand and small Lorentz spaces in critical cases are given.

Abstract:
We introduce a common generalization of the L-R-smash product and twisted tensor product of algebras, under the name L-R-twisted tensor product of algebras. We investigate some properties of this new construction, for instance, we prove a result of the type “invariance under twisting” and we show that under certain circumstances L-R-twisted tensor products of algebras may be iterated.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Marriage is the standard habit in france. Husbands and wifes are used to get married without any marriage settlement and invest common funds. When they choose the charter of eurl, limitation of accountability and power confered to the only partner arised from eurl stand in opposition to equality and solidarity issued from legal marriage settlement. Law creating eurl was run down because of the consequences of the charter of eurl and legal marriage settlement coexistence. It is therefore interesting to isolate disdvantages and benefits issued from this coexistence and to look for marriage settlements which fit best. To set up an eurl requires a minimum training and informations. The charter of eurl is truely adapted to small firms. No marriage settlement ought to be avoided. A partner in a eurl must only exactly know advantages and disadvantages of the embraced combination

Pettinari, Paolo. "Teorie della gravitazione f(R)." Bachelor's thesis, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, 2015. http://amslaurea.unibo.it/9118/.

Full text
Abstract:

Khafizov, Farid T. "Descriptions and Computation of Ultrapowers in L(R)." Thesis, University of North Texas, 1995. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc277867/.

Full text
Abstract:
The results from this dissertation are an exact computation of ultrapowers by measures on cardinals $\aleph\sb{n},\ n\in w$, in $L(\IR$), and a proof that ordinals in $L(\IR$) below $\delta\sbsp{5}{1}$ represented by descriptions and the identity function with respect to sequences of measures are cardinals. An introduction to the subject with the basic definitions and well known facts is presented in chapter I. In chapter II, we define a class of measures on the $\aleph\sb{n},\ n\in\omega$, in $L(\IR$) and derive a formula for an exact computation of the ultrapowers of cardinals by these measures. In chapter III, we give the definitions of descriptions and the lowering operator. Then we prove that ordinals represented by descriptions and the identity function are cardinals. This result combined with the fact that every cardinal $<\delta\sbsp{5}{1}$ in $L(\IR$) is represented by a description (J1), gives a characterization of cardinals in $L(\IR$) below $\delta\sbsp{5}{1}. Concrete examples of formal computations are shown in chapter IV.

West, Paula. "Long-distance coarticulatory effects of English /l/ and /r/." Thesis, University of Oxford, 2000. http://ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:52cb3c89-6ec9-4f21-b219-aae92c0c6660.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis explores the coarticulatory effects of English /l/ and /r/, examining their articulatory basis, acoustic manifestation and perceptual relevance. It demonstrates that there are perceptually relevant coarticulatory differences associated with the distinction between /l/ and /r/. Two perceptual experiments, an articulatory experiment and a modelling study were conducted. Both perceptual experiments used a modified gating technique. The first experiment demonstrates that the coarticulatory effects of /l/ and /r/ on surrounding vowels and consonants can sometimes be used by listeners to identify an HI or /r/ which has been deleted and replaced by noise. The second perceptual experiment shows that the cues for an /r/ are more perceptually salient than those for an /l/. The articulatory experiment used simultaneous electromagnetic articulography, electropalatography and acoustic recordings to investigate the coarticulatory effects of /l/ and /r/. In /r/ contexts, relative to /l/ contexts, raising and retraction of the tongue, lip rounding and lowering of F₃ were found, up to two syllables preceding and following the /r/. The extent of this coarticulatory effect is far greater than commonly acknowledged in the coarticulation literature. Phonetic and phonological theories fail to predict or account for effects of this extent. The theory that coarticulation can be modelled as overlap of articulatory gestures was tested in a modelling study. A subset of the articulatory data was modelled numerically using dynamical descriptions of articulatory gestures from an approach developed at Haskins Laboratories. The modelling showed that longdistance coarticulatory effects could not be adequately accounted for by gestural overlap alone. Feature-spreading models, such as Keating's window model of coarticulation, are also unable to account for these effects adequately. The results of this thesis pose a challenge to current phonetic and phonological theory, as they show that coarticulatory effects have greater extent than commonly recognised.

Newman, Andrew. "The regulation of L-selectin activity by proteolysis." Thesis, Cardiff University, 2017. http://orca.cf.ac.uk/103855/.

Full text
Abstract:
L-selectin (CD62L) is a type I transmembrane protein expressed by lymphocytes which directs their migration from the bloodstream into lymph nodes and infected tissues. Stimulation of the T cell receptor (TCR) activates the enzyme A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM 17), which cleaves L-selectin at the ectodomain generating a metalloproteinase product (MP product) comprising of a transmembrane region and a 17-amino acid intracellular domain (ICD). ϒ-secretase is a multi-subunit protease that cleaves up to 90 identified type I transmembrane proteins in the intramembrane region following ectodomain proteolysis by metalloproteinases. Presenilin (PS), the catalytic component of γ-secretase is activated during an intramolecular cleavage called endoproteolysis separating the carboxy (C) and amino (N) termini. The catalytically active C-terminal fragment of PS then induces intramembrane proteolysis of substrates. The aim of my thesis was to firstly determine whether the MP product of L-selectin was a substrate for PS. Subsequently, I analysed whether stimulation of the TCR activates PS, inducing intramembrane proteolysis of the MP product releasing the ICD into the intracellular region. My data showed for the first time that in a resting T-cell, L-selectin forms a multi-component complex with both ADAM 17 and PS. TCR-activation induces ADAM 17 dependent proteolysis of L-selectin generating an MP product. Stimulation of the TCR also causes endoproteolysis of PS, where activated PS then cleaves the bound MP product. After PS cleavage, the released ICD was unstable and therefore difficult to detect, however I was able to block its formation using either PS inhibitor treatment or generating I351W mutated L-selectin, which was resistant to intramembrane proteolysis.
