This thesis consists of four chapters and deals with two different problems which are both related to the broad topic of special values of anticyclotomic L-functions. In Chapter 3, we generalize some results of Vatsal on studying the special values of Rankin-Selberg L-functions in an anticyclotomic ℤ_p-extension. We study the L-values of an elliptic curve twisted by an Artin representation. Specifically, we consider the case in which the representation factors through a false Tate curve extension of Q. First, we consider a semistable elliptic curve E; we construct an integral-valued p-adic measure which interpolates the values the L-values of an Artin twist of E, at a family of finite-order character twists. To do this, we exploit the fact that such an L-value may be written as the Rankin convolution of two Hilbert modular forms, when the representation factors through the false Tate curve extension. R

As swedes are keen on outdoor recreation and like to spend on travels and gear for forest recreation we want to show if there is a willingness to pay for forest recreation close to home. Starting in hedonic regression we create a model using publicly available data to show how consumer preferences effect house prices. Results show that distance to forest have a small but significant impact on house prices. To conclude we state that a logarithmic model using open source data can be useful in city planning and that there is a positive effect of nearby forests on house prices.

When the sentimental novel of the 18th century is contemplated, the established topics of the figure of the man of feeling, the concept of domestic/public spheres, passion versus logic/reason as a result of emotions all come to mind. Abstract:

Soybean contains a range of compounds with putative health benefits including isoflavones and tocopherols. A study was conducted to determine the effects on these compounds of high temperature stress imposed at specific development stages. Isoflavones and tocopherols response was the greatest when stress occurred during the R5-8 development stages (seed formation) and less during all other stages. Stress imposed at the R5-8 stages reduced total isoflavones concentration by an average of 85% compared to the control, while increasing α-tocopherol by as much as 752%.
