Full textThis work treats the modeling of mass transport in porous media. The advective part of the transport equation is solved using the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element method. In the first part, the discretization of the spatial operator is considered and two approximation spaces are studied and compared for unstructured meshes in 2-D. The temporal discretization is tackled in the second part of this study. Two alternatives to the traditional explicit scheme are presented : a class of semi-implicit schemes and an explicit local time-stepping procedure which allows spatially varying time steps. Finally, the last part of this work consists of using the developed numerical tools to simulate density coupled flow and transport in porous media. The local time procedure is implemented in a 3-D numerical code and numerical experiments show that the model gives accurate results being highly efficient for this kind of problems
Coppola, Samy. ""Marotte du temps, fabrique de controverse !" : l'écriture satirique et polémique dans les oeuvres en prose d'Alfred de Musset : formes et genres." Thesis, Lyon 3, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013LYO30039/document.
Full textAlfred de Musset polemicist? The subject could surprise anyone who knows the slightest bit of the work of the poet, who has continued to assert his independence from the parties and his refusal to be a "pamphleteer" and to endorse the hugolian posture of “the man of the century and its passions”, or anyone who sticks with the stereotypical image of "light poet" and unworthy citizen long mediated by his detractors and scholar textbooks. And yet, a good part of his artwork, poetry, drama and prose, makes the trial of his era, denounces new dogmas and cliches of the century, and joins to the tradition of the classic satire. Withdrawal posture adopted by Musset against enemy schools, neoclassical and romantic’s one, is more widely a controversial posture, and at the same time Musset opts there also for the distance : he’s involved in controversy while denying argue. This agonistic dimension appears particularly in the prose works of Musset, and particularly in his critical articles and journalistic chronicles, but it crosses also, like lightning fleeting and glowing, his novels (The Confession of a child of the century is also a harsh condemnation of the century), while his Short-Stories and his Tales get back to the paths of the classic satire. The present study proposes to examine the links that bind, in Musset’s works, polemicity and genericity. It opts for a stylistic approach of the work, which is rich in forms and genres whose analysis is inseparable from taking account of the context of their production (the July monarchy and the "romantic battle") as of the journalistic media that welcomes them: Mixtures of literature and criticism are forms and genres where Musset turns out to be a “writer- journalist” despite his dislike of the press. Musset reworks these forms and these genres according to the polemics he inserts, and reciprocally adapts forms of the controversy, even the degree of polemicity, with the invested genre. He refuses to be bitter controversialist but uses various stylistic devices and intertexts specifics to polemical and satirical modes. He paradoxically attacks the controversies and opts for an ethos of "jester dandy", willingly mocking and flippant, betting on the connivance with the reader, and suspicious of the violence of the language of contemporary polemic’s forms.Master ironist, adept at subverting the genres from the inside by a fictionnalisation of journalistic forms and by the polemisation of a priori not polemical genres, to refute the counter-discourse as well through parody and pastiche as a subtle refutation’s rhetoric, Musset suggests however behind derision an ambiguous, disenchanted and dual voice, where the utterance lashes out against the enunciation to the extent of blurring sometimes the readability of the controversy, in a logic of "nineteenth’s" irony. As it emerges, Musset’s controversy tackles "ready to believe" of his time, but often also turns against himself, this “child of the century”, in the logic of a romantic irony

Full textFor the first time, this edition work enables to read in the best condition a Work which is one of the most important of the French Sixteenth Century Literature. According to the newest historical works, the introduction propounds to read the Satyre Menippee in its own context : the end of the Ligue (1593-1594) and the polemical fight between Henri IV and the less open minded Catholic. It gives new elements to understand the changes in the title of this Work, exploring the tradition of th Menippean genre. Last but not least, it is an History of the reception. The text is annotated in the most completely way : notations contain remarks about any domains : between traditional erudition to culturalist vision (Delumeau, Crouzet) and even with literary comments. For the first time, we give Name index, place index, maps, genealogies and chronologies, language study and glossary

Full textOur thesis aims at understanding how time constitutes a resource which enables actors to initiate and pursue intrapreneurial projects. Our empirical study relies on 47 interviews, and a participative observation of an Intrapreneurship training program (a full-time week) with R&D researchers of a big French company in energy sector (GDF SUEZ).Firstly, our results underline the qualitative dimension of time: we elaborate a typology of various forms of time which are involved in the three components of intrapreneurial process. Secondly, we observe that, when time is spent for intrapreneurial activities, it is characterized by a singular quality, named availability of mind. Thirdly, we suggest that, even if organizations are able to encourage and sustain innovative activities by several tangibles and intangibles means, actors need to act proactively regarding time resources (grabbed time versus granted time)
Marson, Susan. "Temps de l'autobiographie, temps de l'écriture : Violette Leduc." Paris 8, 1996. http://octaviana.fr/document/181850036#?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=0.
Full textThis two-fold research involves a theoretical interrogation of temporal structures in autobiography conducted through readings from twentieth-century author violette leduc (1907-1972). Leduc's works are remarkable in that they give rise to a reading as autobiography while consistantly putting into question the touchstones of the genre: self-identity, the proper name, the relation of language to the real, the notion of a unique, global and retrospective narrative. The thesis first confronts theories of autobiography (lejeune, marin, doubrovsky, de man. . . ) and narrative time (genette, ricoeur, weinrich, banfield. . . ). Secondly, it is shown that autobiography can only establish a relation to reality through non-linear temporal structures related to the graphic nature of the text. Both philosophical and psychoanalytical theories are considered (derrida, freud, abraham and torok). Since autobiography is always, by its very nature, left incomplete, the autobiographical project, usually based on a chronological plot, can never meet its goal; the autobiographical narrator can never recount his or her own death -that moment at the end of the text when author, narrator and character should finally reunite. Paradoxically, in order to succeed, the narrative project must fail through a "death" of the narrating subject. The text becomes a crypt where the author is metaphorically buried alive, and where the proper name is (cryptically) inscribed, this "signature" becoming the writer's epitaph. The possibility of such a moment implies a temporality foreign to linear narrative structures, chronological circularity or the heideggerian notion of the future perfect and relies on a temporal heterogeneity specific to written narrative related to the freudian concept of deferred action. While all writing may have an autobiographical potential, autobiography strictly speaking is born of the tension between the chronology of an impossible narrative project and the temporal structures at play in the written text

Full textThis thesis deals with the question of social time as a strategic issue for the metropolitan revolutionary communities in France from the study of three of them located in Caen, Rennes and Nantes. This work seeks to show the historical processes of the institution of social time and attempts to destitute it. It begins by an epistemological and methodological return on the constitution of sociology through a discussion between Durkheim and Marx. We defend the hypothesis according to which the discipline is constituted more like a science of the established order aiming at the stabilization of the institutions. Then, with other authors, we try to clear the ways of a sociology of the destitution which undertakes a politics of intervention. Therefore, we begin at first (part 2) to investigate in a classical critical sociology’s way based on a sociohistorical approach of domination – in this case a history of the institution of social time through a study of work, of everyday life and power relations. In parts 3 and 4 we propose a socioanthropology of communist forms-of-life leading at the same time a fight against the instituted social time (revolutionary countertimes, negative dimension) and affirming a relation to the time starting from the activities (revolutionary counter-time, positive dimension). The aim of this thesis is to show how a post-capitalist horizon experiences itself here and now, the way in which it takes over or not the question of the domination of the instituted social time, the way, also, which it is repressed

Full textThe term temporality defines the question of the human being as the primacy of the being-going-towards-death (the time span of the human being from birth to death) and the necessity of the-being-going-towards-the-possible (the time of being/doing). Before death becomes absence and thus a feeling of lack, of loss, which drives people to go beyond the limits with the dead, the human being is confronted with his obsessions, his failures and his dreams, his nightmares and his desires. It's an existential suffering shown through incertitude, regret, remorse and, above all, identity crises, because it is impossible for man to know himself. From its fragmentation, division, and the immense desire for unity which possesses him, results the strong presence of plurality, the search for one's double, this other, perhaps really other, different, or brother, or mirror, which can never be caught. Nevertheless it is in this direction that man must search if he is to gather the tiny pieces of his interior puzzle. It is painful reflection (element for understanding the world) on the time span of a being who after observing that the great emptiness has penetrated all areas of human existence and the world, finds his own path to follow out of his interior cave in the fundamental constitution of the Tabucchian being-oneself, that is to say a being-tending-towards-the-possible every day. Because there is no being possible in the world without concerning oneself with what is close at hand, our author questions himself from all angles and at all levels of his existence

Full textWith a view to rehabilitating hermeneutic stylistics, L’emploi du Temps dans L’Emploi du temps de Butor seeks to show how style not only offers glimpses of past and present world views, but also enhances understanding of the world, even providing ethical pointers to help get over crises and deadlocks. Since they constantly bring us back to the same “faiscsèmes” (“asemeblies” ?) (semes inherent to several stylemes, found at different levels of analysis), the stylemes of the architexts, enunciations, accounts, story and writing of L’emploi du Temps reveal that instead of the traditional linear Time that comes from the Judeo-Christian view, bourgeois thinking and the classical physics/mecanics, Butor proposes, not like some of his contemporaries an absurd, labyrinthine Time, but a stratified Time, a Time reflecting both the experiences of mythical thought and some of the philosophical conceptualisations of Kierkegaard, Bergson, Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre and Bachelard. Going further than these thinkers and doubly opposing Bergson, illustrating certain comments made by Heidegger on art, Butor even comes gradually to install a structured, spatial and musical Time through a complex interplay of stylemes combined into sembeams. This gives rise to a much less stressful and tyrannical use of time than has been imposedsince the industrial revolution, a use of time that helps us move from the unauthentic to the authentic, gives substance and weight to actions, is a source of unification and freedom, makes reality musical and poetic, in a word, brings us closer to a full grasp of world, being and eternity

Full textMetacognition concerns both individuals' knowledge about their cognitive functioning and the processes that regulate them (Koriat, 2007). The study of the perception of time showed that many factors cause temporal distortions, including, for example, attention or feedback. The purpose of this work is thus to propose an integrative model of metacognition of time perception; i.e. to integrate data based on conventional research on the perception of time in a metacognitive model (Nelson and Narens 1990).Our first question was to verify the existence of knowledge about the perception of time, especially on the factors responsible for temporal distortions. The three experiments of our first study led us to create and validate the Metacognitive Questionnaire on Time (MQT). The latter consists of 24 items that highlights the existence of knowledge, more reliable for oneself (subscale Self, 12 items) than for others (subscale Others, 12 items), on two factors known to affect time perception: an Emotion Factor (4 items) and an Attention factor (8 items).Secondly, we studied the influence of metacognitive processes on temporal judgments. Thus, we are interested in the influence of metacognitive Control process on performances in two temporal tasks. Our hypothesis was that knowledge about time allowed regulating the temporal judgments. The results of our studies (Study 2 and 3, respectively composed of one and two experiments) confirmed the importance of the Control process on temporal judgments. Thus, mere awareness of the role of attention on perception of time causes a reduction of the attentional effect generally observed (Study 2). Moreover, explicit erroneous knowledge given to participants causes a reduction or even disappearance of automatic emotional effect of anger on the temporal judgments (Study 3). Finally, we have explored the link between Monitoring process and temporal judgments. Our fourth study demonstrated the ability of individuals to accurately estimate the accuracy of their temporal judgments under certain conditions. Indeed, it appears that individuals are sensitive to task difficulty and duration range. These two dimensions affect both temporal judgments and confidence level estimates.Overall, the results of this study emphasize the importance to take account of metacognitive processes in the study of the perception of time

Full textManagers and professionals in France are a category of workers which has experienced significant destabilizations for the last twenty years. Feminizations, the rise of professionals, unemployment, the crumbling of the “trust contract”, are all elements which have impacted the traditional model of the “total commitment” of managers to their company. Work-life balance and the organisation between work and the other times of life (family time, leisure time, etc) constitute new challenges for the firms aiming at retaining their talents. At the same time, the redesigned role of managers and in the organisation, the acceleration of the rhythm of technological and organisational changes, contribute to the decreased boundaries between work and personal life. Consequently, I have developed the concept of time porosity to enlighten the relationships between professional and personal time. Time porosity corresponds to the phenomenon of overlap and interference between personal temporalities and professional temporalities, and reciprocally. This research aims to identify various types of time porosity and to understand the determinants of these phenomena. Among these determinants, gender appears to be fundamental. Thus, the systematic comparison between time porosity among women and men is a key point of this study. It uses qualitative and quantitative methods. After thirty interviews, a reliable questionnaire was constructed to measure time porosity and its determinants (150 questionnaires). The results confirm that time porosity largely depends on gender. Time porosity of women is mainly correlated to their salary and their position in the company. Time porosity of men not only depends on the characteristics of their job but is also highly correlated to a positive attitude regarding work at home and flexibility

Full textIn this thesis, we compare the dense-time and discrete-time approaches for the verification real time systems modelled with an extension of time Petri nets, namely stopwatch Petri nets. In dense-time semantics, time is considered as a dense quantity while, in discrete-time semantics, it is considered as a discrete variable. The physical systems (the processes) follow a dense-time evolution. The observation of the process is however usually performed through an IT command system which pilots it only at some peculiar instants (digitalization or periodic observations). In addition, the command system is composed of tasks that are executed on one (or many) processor(s) for which physical time is discrete. Dense-time thus leads to an over-approximation of the IT system. The major advantage of dense-time lies in the symbolic abstractions it offers: they are easy to put into application and they avoid the combinatorial explosion of states. First we improved the dense-time state space computation of stopwatch Petri nets. We then established a complete classification of discrete-time models in terms of expressivity and decidability results. We proposed an efficient enumerative procedure for computing the state space of discrete-time nets. As every enumerative method, it however suffers from the combinatorial explosion of the number of states. That is why we finally focused on a symbolic method for computing the state space of discrete-time models by extending to discrete-time semantics the techniques usually applied for dense-time models

Full textOur research is embdded in the theoritical frame work of developmental psychology of time, and leads to a better understanding of connection between the early temporal conditioned behaviors of infants and the complex temporal regulation of children older than 7. Four experiments have been run with children aged 3 to il years. Our methods are original for several reasons. First, children were asked questions about their understanding of the task during or at the end of training. Second, different types of information were given to the subjects (instructions, external clock). Finally, tests were used to determine first, children's levels of acquisition of verbal items explaining waiting behavior and second, degrees of mastering knowledge about time. This last procedure was aimed at disentangling the role of language and knowledge in the developmental changes observed in timing behavior. Results show that 3-year-old children are able to estimate durations of intervals filled by their own actions, but cannot regulate their responses in time when these are ate the beginning and the end of empty intervals. Depending on the situation, temporal behavior of 4;6 year old children is controlled either by conditioned processes as in 3-year-olds or by temporal instructions given by the experimenter. From 6 years onward, timing behavior is governed by explicit rules first based upon concrete temporal information and later upon development on inferential judments. In summary, resutlts as a whole lead us to think that there are both discontinuity and filiation between enact

Full textThis dissertation is a comparative study between some satirical poems by Gregório de Matos e Guerra and the epistolary poem Cartas Chilenas by Tomás Antônio Gonzaga. These poets lived and produced in distinct centuries. Gregório de Matos was a poet in the 17th century and Tomás Antônio Gonzaga in the 18th century. This work investigates the satirical ways that both poets poeticize, often convergent, promoting a fruitful continuity of the satire in Brazilian literature. Moreover, it aims to distinguish and value the particularities of its inventive act. This study also aims to demonstrate that the historical factor is not a determining element of the artistic quality of the satirical poem, but is such for the thematic quality of the like, relating to the aforementioned poems. According to the final considerations, one can conclude that the satirical compositions reviewed were led by the poetry of two artists that revolutionized the verse of their time from the 17th and 18th centuries' poetic meter and through a subtle understanding of the world.

Full textThe origin of the affinity which links benjamin to proust should be sought intheir theories of language. Benjamin's thinking of 1916 is close to that of "le narrateur" upon names. Both refuse to share in a concept of language which sets down the principle of the arbitrary nature of meaning. Benjamin tends towards an "ursprache". Proust makes "le nom" the object of the hero's quest in his novel. This mysticak concept of language attracts benjamin to the "recherche", of which he translated half. This translation will be studied in detail and it will be compared to the theory of translation. Benjamin's interest in the life and work of proust can be seen in his articles, his thinking on art, on paris and on baudelaire. This is the aim of the second section. The third will study the fragmentary rewriting which makes up the "berliner kindheit. In it can be found all the themes common to both autors : nostalgia for childhood, power and limits of memory and language, giddiness of desire and death. Finally we will look at proust's "benjamin's side", by reexamining the question of his relationship to judaism and history, and his use of allegory, which anticipates the one of benjamin

Full textPlatonic time is usually describes as a cyclical time. Yet, the works, of plato show an archeological dimension, for example with the portrait of egypt as the land of long duration. His way of writing, the dialoque, displays a temporal succession not build upon a cyclical time. The works of plato integrate or even produce myths whose references don't fall in with the hypothesis of an everlasting return. Even the situation of the human being before death seems to show the elaboration of a platonic subject whose relations with lived time can't be defined by relation with a cyclical dimension of time. Penultimately, the platonic city seems to be elaborated more by pedagogical values than by reference to an absolute cyclical cosmological system, the archeology of this city being particularized as much by continuity than by rupture. This works ends by returning to the definition of time in the timaeus, and by the study of the epistemological value of chronos, that which measures and that which is measured

This thesis is a study of daily life of workers regarding their experiences and discourses on the work time and the non- work time. The workplace is the privileged locus of analysis. The empirical research examines the case of Volkswagen-Brazil in its assembly plant in ABC region, São Paulo, emblematic example of initiatives and negociations driven to achieve flexible work conditions and employment relations. The analysis focuses the period 1995-2005 when most intense changes took place. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part begins with a review of the national and international literature on time and work time as societal constructions; the following two chapters present the recent debate on two opposing experiences, France’s and Brazil’s. In the second part, formed by seven chapters there is an initial presentation of the context of Volkswagen do Brazil, based on the analysis of documental material as well as interviews with workers, union leaders and managers. The last six chapters analyze the daily temporal experience of different groups of workers based on semi-directed interviews and time diaries
