Discrepancies among different versions of Factor V may be largely explained by differences in the personality definitions and the variable selections used in various national trait taxonomies. Like any other social category the fifth factor has fuzzy boundaries and its meaning depends on the number and prototypicality of the exemplars included in the category. Resulting from taxonomies of traits (Norman, 1967; Goldberg, 1990) or dispositions (Ostendorf, 1990) the Five‐Factor Model is not intended to represent or capable of representing the structure of all individual differences (e.g. attitude

On the other hand, in the ‘Big‐Five’ model of phenotypic personality‐trait descriptors, Factor V is best labeled as Intellect or Imagination, and Openness is viewed as a narrower and more specific attribute at a lower level in the hierarchy of lexical

SUMMARYThe classification of mood and personality disorders has become unnecessarily complicated. It has become bogged down by well-meaning but unhelpful subcategories that puzzle the will of clinicians to make useful judgements. The answer is to think of bipolar, depressive and personality disorders as each constituting a spectrum of severity and not to be too preoccupied with individual labels. It would also be useful to avoid the diagnostic chimera of borderline personality disorder, a condition that defies proper classification.

The relation between two measures of personality disorders was examined in a nonclinical sample of 113 college students (86 women, 27 men) who completed the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-II and the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-Revised. Raw scores for 10 of 11 corresponding scales on the two instruments were significantly correlated (median r = .49). Compared to Millon's inventory, the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-Revised designated more subjects as having eccentric personality disorders but fewer as having anxious personality disorders. The significant association betwee

Personality has been demonstrated as influential factors in technology-enhanced learning. The collection of personality is always a challenge. Human efforts are usually required in the user surveys which is the most common and popular way to collect the personality traits. Predicting personality traits, as a result, becomes one of the research directions. Some researchers consider these personality traits as labels in the classifications, while some others consider them as numeric variables in the regressions. In this paper, we made our attempt to predict the students’ personality traits from

Three types of nanoparticles, quantum dots (QDs), gold particles (GPs), and latex particles (LPs), were compared as labels for immunochromatographic assay. The influence of the nature of the label on the analytical performance of the test systems was studied using the example of detection of the antibiotic chloramphenicol (CAP). The limits of detection of CAP are 0.1 ng/mL for QDs, 2.4 ng/mL for GPs, and 0.3 ng/mL for LPs. The unique structure and physical properties of the QD fluorescent labels ensure their competitive advantage over colorimetric labels. The proposed methodology is applicable
