Rotating panel used in the Labour Force Survey (LFS) causes correlation possibility of estimations of labor markets errors. Knowledge of autocorrelation is important in the context of the trend estimation of labor market parameters. Dismissal of autocorrelation can result in the trend curve it will be fraught with volatility, characteristic of auto-regression processes. Estimation errors are not observable, thus it is not possible to estimate the autocorrelation coefficients by conventional estimators. It is apparent from various labour force surveys that during the past 20 years Pakistan’s employed labour force has become more “educated”. For instance, according to the Labour Force Survey 1982-83, 28 percent of the employed labour force had attained formal education.12 In comparison, the literate employed labour force in 1999- 2000 is estimated at 46 percent, while the formally educated is 43 percent. However, the pattern of growth in educated labour force is not uniform in all four provinces of the country. A closer look at disaggregated provincial level data reflects the disparity in empl

Data sets commonly used in the social sciences are often obtained by sample surveys with complex designs. These designs usually incorporate a multistage selection from a population with a natural hierarchical structure. In addition, these surveys can also be carried out in a repeated manner including a rotating panel design, which is a source of planned non-response. Unplanned non-response is also present in panel data in the form of panel attrition and intermittent nonresponse. Methods are developed to handle this type of data complexity. Abstract:
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, divorce rates across European countries significantly declined and remained low through 2023. This sustained low level is notable, especially given the potential for a rebound in postponed divorces. This study examines partnership dissolution in Austria from 2018 to 2023, covering the pandemic and a subsequent period of high inflation. It specifically investigates the role of socioeconomic and family characteristics. The analysis draws on 24 quarterly waves from the Austrian Labour Force Surveys, focusing on cohabiting and married couples aged 20

Higa, Minoru, Zhen Huang, and María Teresa Silva Porto. COVID-19 and the labor market in the absence of lockdowns:evidence from Nicaragua. Inter-American Development Bank, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0004437.

Abstract:
What is the effect of Covid-19 on labor markets when there is no lockdown? We answer this question using individual-level survey data for Nicaragua from January 2019 to May 2021. We find a negative impact of Covid-19 on the labor force participation right after the pandemic, particularly for young females, but also a quick recovery. We find that female labor force participation is strongly related to school attendance. Using high-frequency smartphone data we find that visits to school areas dropped sharply by 50%, but they recovered soon as with the female labor force participation.

Abstract:
In this paper, the authors examine levels and trends of labor market outcomes for women in the 1990's using household survey data for 18 Latin American countries covering several years per country. The outcomes analyzed include labor force participation rates, the distribution of employment of women across sectors of the economy (formal versus informal), and earnings. Next, the authors examine the role of schooling in explaining the increase in female labor force participation in LAC countries. All of these findings suggest a fair degree of change in the role of women within households and in

Abstract:
This directory of surveys contains data on families and households in developing countries. The emphasis is on intergenerational linkages as well as conjugal ties and co-residential arrangements. Surveys that do not situate individuals within a family or household context are excluded. Thus, many labor force surveys with data on the employment status and earnings of men and women are not included unless they also collected data on respondents’ children and/or households. The same is true of contraceptive prevalence surveys that limit their attention to women’s reproductive behavior. The majori

Abstract:
The main purpose of this paper is to measure the contributions of the changes in the labor market to the increase in inequality experienced by Mexico after the 1985 trade and financial liberalization. To do so, the paper uses data from Mexican household surveys (Encuesta Nacional de Ingreso Gasto de los Hogares de México) produced by the Mexican Institute for Statistics, Geography and Informatics (Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática) for 1984 and 1994. The paper applies a counterfactual methodology to measure the effects on inequality of changes in labor force participat
