Abstract:

Dans cette étude, des mesures électrochimiques ont été réalisées pour caractériser le comportement du laiton Amirauté dans une solution de chlorure de sodium 0,5 M en l'absence d'inhibiteur et en présence d'un mélange d'amines à longue chaîne et de dérivés thiazolés. Cette formulation est utilisée pour le traitement des eaux des circuits de refroidissement. Les courbes courant-tension stationnaires et les diagrammes d'impédance électrochimique ont été obtenus avec une electrode tournante. La première partie de cette étude présente les résultats obtenus pour deux concentrations du mélange et deux temps d'immersion préalable au potentiel de corrosion. Les essais électrochimiques montrent que l'effet inhibiteur est d'autant plus marqué que la concentration augmente. Une légère diminution de la protection de la surface du laiton Amirauté est observée avec l'augmentation du temps de maintien au potentiel de corrosion. La deuxième partie de l'étude compare les effets inhibiteurs de chacun des constituants du mélange, d'une part, pour les valeurs de concentration utilisées lors du traitement des eaux des circuits de refroidissement (0,1 mg/l de solution contenant les dérivés thiazolés et 1 mg/l de solution contenant les alkylamines) et, d'autre part, pour des valeurs de concentration comparables (5 mg/l). Pour la concentration de 0,1 mg/l l'action inhibitrice des dérivés thiazolés n'a pas été clairement mise en évidence. Ainsi, la protection contre la corrosion des circuits de refroidissement en laiton Amirauté avec le mélange est apportée principalement par les alkylamines. Celles-ci forment un film compact très protecteur à la surface de l'électrode. Pour des valeurs de concentration plus importantes, l'addition de 0,5 mg/l de dérivés thiazolés à 5 mg/l d'alkylamines améliore la protection du matériau.

Artikkeli pohjautuu kirjaani Markat, farkut ja sukkahousut (2020), jossa käsittelen laitonta kauppaa, niin sanottua trokausta (ven. fartsovka),jota monet ulkomaalaiset turistit harjoittivat Neuvostoliitossa 1960–1980-luvuilla. Tyypillisiä trokattavia tuotteita olivat länsimaiset vaatteet, joista etenkin monet nuoret neuvostokansalaiset haaveilivat. Artikkelissa analysoidaan sitä, kuinka laiton kauppa sai alkuunsa ja kehittyi, keitä olivat tätä ”bisnestä” pyörittäneet ihmiset ja miten trokaus loppui Neuvostoliiton hajotessa. Leningradissa ja Viipurissa trokaus kehittyi laajaksi ilmiöksi ennen kaikkea suomalaisten turistien ansiosta, joten artikkelissa kerrotaan lyhyesti myös suomalaismatkailun historiasta Neuvostoliitossa 1950–1980-luvuilla.

Enﬁn, la découverte archéologique d’une bouteille de sorcières dans les fortiﬁcations de Québec a amené l’auteur à élaborer une troisième partie portant sur l’imaginaire de l’épingle ; d’où le titre de cet article.

À partir de la découverte de trois types de médailles religieuses en laiton mises au jour dans un contexte archéologique du début du XVIIIe siècle sur le site du Palais de l'intendant à Québec, l'auteur tente de retrouver leur signification culturelle en les réinsérant dans les différents contextes auxquels elles ont participé. Cette démarche d'archéologie contextuelle est fondée sur une approche qui va de la micro-échelle de l'intendance, en passant par celle de la Nouvelle-France, jusqu'à la macro-échelle du contexte européen de la production baroque. Les résultats tirés de cette analyse permettent d'aborder la question de la relation entre ces médailles et l'action missionnaire ainsi que les métissages.

Les alliages à base de cuivre se rencontrent dans des contextes très variés à la fin du Moyen Âge, constituant par exemple de nombreux objets du ménage ou de la parure vestimentaire. Dans les inventaires, les comptes ou encore les traités, les scripteurs les désignent selon différents vocables dont le sens évolue et parfois nous échappe. Que veulent dire cuivre, airain, laiton, archal et métal pour les médiévaux ? Par la mesure de leur usage à partir d’une base de données constituée de plus de 1 200 occurrences entre Loire et Meuse, ces mots sont analysés en fonction des types d’objets décrits et des contextes dans lesquels ils sont exprimés. Ils sont ensuite confrontés aux compositions élémentaires de plusieurs centaines d’objets, celles-ci mettant en évidence la variabilité des compositions, mais aussi des groupes d’alliages correspondant à des types d’objets spécifiques. La disjonction apparente entre les matériaux et les formules ou les mots spécifiques utilisés permet d’interroger la signification médiévale du lexique employé et la représentation de certains matériaux, mais aussi l’usage de normes rédactionnelles et les savoirs mobilisés dans la reconnaissance et la description d’un alliage.

Abstract:

In 1971, Harold Cousins published an essay explaining the sculptures that he had begun creating in the mid-1950s, following his relocation in October 1949 from New York to Paris. Cousins described his series named Plaiton, his own neologism combining the English word plate with the French word laiton (brass). This linguistic combination paralleled Cousins’s description of himself as a “sculptor-welder,” a practice that grew from experiments in oxyacetylene welding while studying in Paris with funding from the GI Bill. Providing the first scholarly analysis of sculptor Cousins’s rich career, this article recovers the artist’s early biography through family archives, including correspondence and period criticism. It then examines Cousins’s early artwork and his own description of his artistic practice culminating in Plaiton. Finally, it considers Cousins’s 1950s sculptures, particularly Plaiton Suspendu, and speculates on its relation to his later work. In considering Cousins’s sculpture in relation to racial constructions of the immediate postwar period, I draw on prior scholarship focused on postwar African American artists in Paris. I also look to studies of the ways Black artists employed abstraction—histories that often begin in the mid-1960s or 1970s. In examining the mid-1950s Plaiton works, I hope to both bring Cousins and his work back to visibility and suggest that this history actually began substantially earlier.

Abstract:

L'article porte sur ce que l'on appelle en allemand les « Stolpersteine ». Il s’agit de pavés recouverts d'une plaque en laiton qui sont encastrés à l'endroit où des victimes du nazisme ont vécu ou ont été déportées. Ces pavés de mémoire peuvent être considérés comme des marqueurs de mémoire matérialisés dans l'espace public. Ils témoignent de la manière dont chaque société gère l'histoire et la mémoire, et renvoient aux fonctions de la mémoire pour l'individu et la société. L'histoire de ce projet européen de mémoire participative ainsi que sa fonction mémorielle dans l'espace public sont d'abord présentées. Il est ensuite question des victimes suisses du national-socialisme, ainsi que du choix exemplaire des « Stolpersteine » comme marqueurs mémoriels à Zurich. Enfin, d'un point de vue didactique, l'accent est mis sur la possibilité qu'offrent les pavés de mémoire de développer une pratique participative et discursive de la commémoration.

Une reliure sert avant tout à protéger l’ouvrage qu’elle recouvre. Elle doit aussi être considérée comme un élément autonome qui a son esthétique, ses techniques et son histoire propres. Cet article présentera d’abord, de manière générale, les reliures des neuf livres d’Heures manuscrits conservés à McGill, dont certaines sont d’origine et d’autres furent restaurées entre le XVIIe et la fin du XXe siècle. En second lieu, la remarquable reliure originale du manuscrit McGill, MS 101 sera décrite en détail. Cette reliure est la plus représentative du corpus au pour son vocabulaire stylistique de la reliure de la deuxième moitié du XVe siècle avec ses ais, ses fermoirs en laiton torsadé et son cuir décoré à froid de fers dit monastiques. L’analyse codicologique de ces livres d’Heures contribue à l’archéologie du livre médiéval et s’inscrit dans une perspective de mise en valeur de la reliure ancienne en Occident entreprise par de grandes bibliothèques européennes. A book’s binding, above all else, serves to protect the work inside. It must also be considered as an autonomous element that has its own aesthetic, techniques, and history. This article will present, in a general way, the bindings of nine Books of Hours preserved at McGill, some of which are original and others that were restored between the seventeenth century and the end of the twentieth. Secondly, the remarkable original binding of manuscript McGill, MS 101 will be described in detail. This binding is the most representative of the corpus when considering the stylistic vocabulary of book bindings during the second half of the fifteenth century with its panels, braided brass fasteners, and leather which was decorated freehand with a monastic design. The codicological analysis of these Books of Hours contributes to the archeology of the medieval book and follows a perspective of the development of ancient book binding in the West undertaken by great European libraries.

<strong>Abstract:</strong> An international trade network system is crucial for developing Countries' Economies. Countries Export products not far from their Product Space Network, as they will require the same technology, skills, and institutions. The exportation of products can be affected by disruptions in the global Economic system, Such as COVID -19 recently. During the pandemic, Country lockdown and Import restriction policies led to a decline in Global products export. There is a requirement to have a resilient system in such a way it would withstand disruptions in the economy. Most studies were done to determine whether the Global trade system is resilient. Determination of critical transition values, which mark the points at which the system will lose or gain resilience, is not well covered yet. In this study, we developed the Lotka-Volterra model to determine critical values for the United States dollar index and proximity Index for four years, from 2018 to 2021. Abstract:

Due to the impact of global warming, drought has caused serious damage to China’s ecological environment and social status. This article selects Laibin City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as the research area, utilizing multispectral remote sensing data as the data source and Landsat series image data for relevant preprocessing. It calculates the monthly normalized vegetation index (NDVI) and surface temperature (LST) data for Laibin City. Based on the ecological environment and surface coverage conditions of the research area, the ratio vegetation index (RVI), normalized vegetation moisture index (NDWI), temperature vegetation drought index (TVDI), and conditional vegetation temperature drought index (VTCI) were selected to calculate and invert the drought monitoring results of Laibin City. The drought monitoring results were obtained and overlaid with the vegetation area map to generate the vegetation drought monitoring results of Laibin City. Based on the climate, geography, and ecological characteristics of the monitored area in Laibin City, a specific analysis will be conducted to develop an appropriate TVDI index drought level, and generate vegetation drought level result maps for Laibin City in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Then, a detailed analysis of the vegetation drought situation in Laibin City is conducted according to time and space. Among them, in the past three years, the vegetation areas in Laibin City have experienced drought seasons mostly in summer and autumn. The interannual drought is mainly mild drought, and the proportion of areas with mild drought shows a relatively stable trend. In conclusion, TVDI proves to be a valuable tool for monitoring vegetation drought in Laibin City, offering insights for efficient water resource management strategies.

En este artículo de investigación ofrecemos una visión general de la formación laical en Andalucía desde 1965 1965, con la publicación de la Apostolicam Actuositatem de 1965 hasta la convocatoria del sínodo (2021-2022). Analizamos los documentos de cuatro papas sobre la formación de los laicos (Pablo VI, Juan Pablo II, Benedicto XVI y Francisco). Pasamos después al estudio de las instituciones que se han ocupado de la formación de los laicos: Escuelas diocesanas de Teología para Seglares en 7 de las 10 diócesis andaluzas y los Institutos Superiores de Ciencias Religiosas, también de 7 diócesis andaluzas. En el apartado quinto ofrecemos algunos documentos sobre la formación de los laicos de la Comisión Episcopal para los Laicos, Familia y Vida (desde 1965 a 2020 llamada de Apostolado Seglar) y noticias sobre los laicos de 9 de las 10 delegaciones diocesanas de Laicos y Apostolado Seglar. Por último, analizamos dicha formación en otras instituciones eclesiales. En concreto, nos acercamos a las ofrecidas por tres Congregaciones religiosas dedicadas a la enseñanza: Compañía de Jesús, Carmelitas de la Caridad (Vedruna) y Sociedad de San Francisco de Sales (Salesianos).

Abstract:

Abstract. We measured methane fluxes of a patterned bog situated in Siikaneva in southern Finland from six different plant community types in three growing seasons (2012–2014) using the static chamber method with chamber exposure of 35 min. A mixed-effects model was applied to quantify the effect of the controlling factors on the methane flux. The plant community types differed from each other in their water level, species composition, total leaf area (LAITOT) and leaf area of aerenchymatous plant species (LAIAER). Methane emissions ranged from −309 to 1254 mg m−2 d−1. Although methane fluxes increased with increasing peat temperature, LAITOT and LAIAER, they had no correlation with water table or with plant community type. The only exception was higher fluxes from hummocks and high lawns than from high hummocks and bare peat surfaces in 2013 and from bare peat surfaces than from high hummocks in 2014. Chamber fluxes upscaled to ecosystem level for the peak season were of the same magnitude as the fluxes measured with the eddy covariance (EC) technique. In 2012 and in August 2014 there was a good agreement between the two methods; in 2013 and in July 2014, the chamber fluxes were higher than the EC fluxes. Net fluxes to soil, indicating higher methane oxidation than production, were detected every year and in all community types. Our results underline the importance of both LAIAER and LAITOT in controlling methane fluxes and indicate the need for automatized chambers to reliably capture localized events to support the more robust EC method.

Abstrakti artikkelikäsikirjoituksesta “Säe säkeeltä. Väinö Kaukosen säetutkimukset Kalevalasta” Tarkastelen artikkelissani kirjallisuudentutkija Väinö Kaukosen (1911−1990) laatimia säetutkimuksia Kalevalasta (1939, 1945, 1956) pohtien niiden rakennetta ja suhdetta Lönnrotin toimitustapoihin ja lähdeaineistoon. Suhteutan säetutkimukset folkloristiikan tutkimushistoriaan, jossa on näkyvissä kaksi keskeistä linjaa: tarve laatia Kalevalasta kriittinen laitos, toisaalta kiista eepoksen sopivuudesta tutkimusaineistoksi ja -kohteeksi. Säetutkimukset saattavat avautua hankalasti, jos ei tunne niiden taustoja ja viittausperiaatteita. Tämän vuoksi artikkelissa selvitetään Kaukosen tutkimusperiaatteita ja viittauskäytäntöjä. Analyysiosiossa avataan Kaukosen säetutkimusten toimintatapoja ja haasteita sekä osoitetaan vaihtoehtoisia tapoja lähestyä Lönnrotin toimitustyötä. Erityisesti analyysissa nostetaan Kalevalan krittiisen edition työn tulokset ja mahdollisuudet esiin. Väinö Kaukosen tutkimukset ovat vaikuttaneet monin tavoin folkloristiikkaan, mutta yhtä lailla niiden vaikutus voidaan nähdä kirjallisuudentutkimuksen puolella. Molemmilla oppialoilla kysymys on liittynyt sen näkemykseen Lönnrotin eepoksesta. Tässä artikkelissa pääpaino on folkloristiikassa, sillä säetutkimukset ovat edelleen keskeinen tutkimuspohja Kalevalan ja kansanrunoaineiston suhteita tutkiville folkloristeille. Väinö Kaukosen säetutkimukset ovat kuitenkin jääneet tutkimuksen katveeseen. Kalevalan uudelleentulkinnat ja eepoksesta laadittu kriittinen laitos ovat viime vuosina osoittaneet Kaukosen säeselvitysten tarpeellisuuden myös nykytutkimuksessa.
