Abstract:
Critical period hypothesis, a popular topic of great significance in language acquisition, was initially deprived from first language acquisition, and further applied to second language acquisition though disputes remain. Former researchers have done myriads of empirical study and concluded diverse theories. This paper purports to briefly review former researches of critical period hypothesis in both first language acquisition and second language acquisition, and then try to probe its interrelation with age effect and implicit learning.

Abstract:
In language acquisition, imprinting during the critical period helps people to encode the information and influences received from outside more actively. It provides opportunity for people, especially children, to be socialized and have closer interactions with their environment, later forms social attachment. After the critical period, people still can learn new languages but requires more effort for the same outcome.

Is there a critical period for second language acquisition? When should one begin learning a second language? These are questions that have always been present and they stiil have not become any less controversial or complex. This paper discusses one of the most appealing subjects that is of interest to learners, educators, scholars, and researchers around the world. Researchers in linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, and neurology paid a good deal of attention to the decline in the level of language proficiency that starts around a certain age and what may cause that decline after the end of that period. Many of them called it a critical period. In the following pages we are trying to shed light on this theory in an endeavor to look for factors influencing language acquisition bynew language learners. There

The idea that there is a critical period (CP) for language acquisition that starts sometime after birth and ends sometime around puberty has been central to language studies since Chomsky's paradigm shift that embedded language acquisition into human biological development (for discussion, see Bialystok & Kroll, in press). From early on, the critical period argument was loosely extended to include second language (L2) acquisition, an idea buttressed largely by anecdote: “children learn foreign languages so much better than adults” in spite of evidence to the contrary (Goldberg, Paradis &am

This study concerns the ability of adults to achieve nativelike competence in second language when the acquisition context lacks formal instruction and, therefore, more closely resembles the environment for first language acquisition. The study presents the results of extensive testing of an adult who has apparently acquired native proficiency in Egyptian Arabic (EA) in an untutored setting. The goal is to determine to what extent her linguistic competence matches that of native speakers. English syntactic skills of two deaf groups and one control group were investigated. One group of deaf subjects acquired a first language on schedule in early childhood, American Sign Language (ASL), and commenced learning English at school age. The other deaf group had significantly delayed first language acquisition, and began learning both ASL and English at school. Using as the point of departure a maturational constraints perspective and the Critical Period Hypothesis (CPH), Study I examines the impact of age of onset (AO) of L2 acquisition on the production of L2 Swedish voiceless stops. Abstract:
Objective The aim of this living systematic review is to provide a summary of the effects of remdesivir in the treatment of patients with acute covid-19. Methods Eligible studies were randomized trials evaluating the effect of remdesivir versus placebo or no treatment. We conducted searches in the special L·OVE (Living OVerview of Evidence) platform for COVID-19, a system that performs regular searches in databases, trial registries, preprint servers and websites relevant to COVID-19. All the searches covered the period until 25 August 2020. No date or language restrictions were applied. Two r

Abstract:
The necessity to improve broiler thermotolerance and live performance led to the following hypothesis: Appropriate comprehensive incubation treatments that include significant temperature management changes will promote angiogenesis and will improve acquisition of thermotolerance and carcass quality of heavy broilers through epigenetic adaptation. It was based on the following questions: 1. Can TM during embryogenesis of broilers induce a longer-lasting thermoregulatory memory (up to marketing age of 10 wk) that will improve acquisition of thermotolerance as well as increased breast meat yield
