Abstract:
Despite the fact that the mentality has a strong influence on the language, linguistic vocabulary deviates from the linguistic object if the linguist tracks the language. In addition, language is not a direct photographic depiction of the mentality. Therefore, the vocabulary of mentality should be considered only as a small part of the big humanitarian problem as a whole. However, this time in our article we restrict ourselves to an analysis of Abay's arguments regarding the psyche. We are well aware of the views of the West and Russians on the relationship of mentality and language. It's no secret that we are following in their footsteps. However, since the inventory of what is on our earth has a great influence on the natural development of science, its authenticity, we tried to interpret the language and mentality in this way. From this point of view, the origins of the question of the relationship between reason and language in Kazakh linguistics can be seen in Abay.

At the background of increased attention towards a psychological interpretation of content-based linguistic phenomena, aiming to relate them to the mentality of different peoples, the article calls on to avoid positing the direct, proximate dependence of language features on those of ethnic mentality. Along with the search in this direction, one should also bear in their mind the possible effects of general mental activities of people (regardless of their ethnicity), of the general structural specificity of the language at its various levels, as well as particular features of formation and development of the literary (standard) form of the national language. The material for a more specific analysis were some phenomena of the Ukrainian language that arouse great interest what concerns the features of Ukrainian mentality being [allegedly] mirrored in them: diminutives with hypocoristic connotations, the category of passive voice, “positivity” of Ukrainian vocabulary inner form, abundance of Ukrainian synonyms.

Abstract:
The phenomenon of euphemisms has been considered in the article in the context of English mentality. The definition of “mentality” has been drawn out. The language picture of the world as reflection of that language speakers’ mentality has been enlarged on. The unique concepts for Anglo-Saxon language picture of the world specific to the mentality of the British and Americans (being less reflected in the later) have been pointed out in the context of the question considered in the article. The definition of “euphemism” has been drawn out. The English euphemisms as linguistic and cultural phenomenon have been commented on as the means for the concept “understatement” as words or phrases used to avoid saying something presumably unpleasant or offensive. Such subject groups of English euphemisms have been analysed as: euphemisms mitigating various types of discrimination (age, property, racial and ethnic discrimination, discrimination against persons with physical or mental disabilities), euphemisms that reduce the superstitious fear of any phenomena, euphemisms that raise the prestige of a separate profession, euphemisms distracting from the negative phenomena of reality (those serving as a cover for aggressive hostilities and those mitigating negative consequences in the social and economic sphere), crime, gender, religion and death related euphemisms, miscellaneous group.

The article considers reflexes of non-standard language representations of the international lexemes mentalitet and mental’nost’ in contemporary Russian speech as indicator of communicative-discursive appropriation of corresponding foreign-culture concept “mentality”. The purpose is to study changes of conditions of lexemes’ standard attributive compatibility. The material of the study is contexts of usage of these words in Russian National Corpus and in the Internet-communication. The models of word-combinations “adjective + substantive” with attributed words mentalitet and mental’nost’ are analyzed. The findings are that extension of spheres of their application and opportunity of evaluative reception of their primordially non-evaluative conceptual content demonstrates continuing tendency to cultural appropriation of the foreign-culture concept “mentality” in contemporary Russian speech.

The article is devoted to the linguocultural explaining of the concept "mentality". The object of research is the concept of "mentality", which is used in modern linguistics in two semantic aspects: first, when talking about ethnic or social conditioning of our mind and, secondly, when they try to justify the origins of the spiritual unity and integrity of the people. The mental symptoms of the national consciousness are objectified in language, and in this regard the following categories of cognitive semantics are in demand in the linguistics of language in their synergistic and cognitive understanding: the value and meaning, the inner form of nominative units of language, means of secondary and indirect derivative nomination, cultural connotations etc. The author's aim is to explain the concept of linguocultural mentality. The author concludes that the mentality can be described as a synergistic perception of the world through the prism of the interaction of the language, consciousness and culture; linguoculture is a way of expressing ethnic mentality as a special vision of the world in concrete chronotopic terms of artistic and creative life of a people.

The present article deals with the mutual influence of constituent components of language - culture interrelation. It also studies the revealing of the forms and principles of occurrence of cultural factors in the language and provides a short insight into the history and setting of the problem. The attitude of a human being towards reality phenomena as well as to the realization of time, quantity, gender, and case categories depend on the life style, daily routine, customs / traditions and mentality of the ethnos. The ways of defining common and distinguishing features of expressing the linguo- cultural factors in multi – system languages are investigated in the paper. It is stated in the research that cultural factors are reflected not only in the lexical and phraseological units of the language system, but also in its grammatical categories. Being a bearer and a transmitter of information, language is a specific means of realization of the culture.Accordinly, cultural factors are encoded and decoded in the language depending on the mentality and outlook of the ethnos. The mutual influence of language and culture occurs in communication process between the bearers of multi – system languages and evinces quite differently.

AbstractThe research starts from the assertion that there is an interdependent rapport between cultural forms and the experiential field, necessary for the dynamics of cultural development. The general objective of our approach is the development of a system of relations ordered by human experience for linguistic vitality (of a language/group of [kindred] languages) in the mental and cultural fields. Particular/experiential takes on the concepts of “right”/“left”, the systemic extension of significances in linguistics, religion, moral mentality, and culture of peoples of the world stand as secondary objectives of the research. Application is made to pan-Latin languages, Hungarian, and English. Synchronic and diachronic analysis, contrastive method, and cognitive approach are but a few of the research methods. The first of the conclusions to be drawn is that the diachronic dynamics of a culture is ensured by the systemic relations between human experience, language, mentality, and others.

The article considers the concepts of «mentality», «mentality», «language men-tality», which we interpret as a complex phenomenon through the prism of the re-lationship between language and culture. These concepts are analyzed in terms of sociology, history, ethnopsychology, linguistics and philosophy. Linguistic mentality is considered an integral ethnopsychological feature, ethnic unconscious, the core of the nation. In this context, we understand the system of ideas and values that stimulate and regulate behavior in the socio-cultural realities of life, a specifi c refl ection of real-ity, which is due to the life of the ethnos in certain geographical, historical and cultural conditions. Taking into account the culturological approach, we consider the mental-ity as some integral characteristic of people living in a certain culture. In this way, we can describe the uniqueness of the vision in a particular linguistic society and explain the specifi cs of the response of its representatives to cultural traditions.It is substantiated that language is an important means of formation and successful func-tioning of any society, along with territorial integrity and spiritual development, as the most universal form of expression of the nation’s mentality. It is most closely connected with the character of the culture of certain people, its national character. In this case, language is an active engine of nation development. It is established that the view of the world is universal in some way, but at the same time it is nationally specifi c, so speakers of diff erent languages can see the world in a slightly diff erent way, through the prism of their languages.The problem of the ratio of language and language units from the standpoint of German culture, as well as the national specifi cs of their formation are analyzed. The nominative fi eld «Names of females» is determined. On the example of lexical units to denote «die Frau» the specifi cs of perception of females in the German linguistic society are demonstrated

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the correlation between concepts of mentality and language worldview in modern linguistics. Considering mentality within modern linguistics reflects the principle expansionism which consists in the fact that no science can remain within the borders of itself, it needs access to the adjacent areas of knowledge to produce the most comprehensive research. That is why linguistics is to use the data provided by such sciences as cultural studies, anthropology, sociology, etc. The paper highlights the main approaches to the issue of language worldview. The most relevant modern theory concerning the topic is the hypothesis of linguistic relativity in its weak form, which consists in the fact that language is only one of the factors that influence the way in which we conceptualize reality. Further in the article we put definitions of language worldview and give our own definition of the term. The part of the article dedicated to the mentality also provides definitions of the concept, indicates the relative novelty of studying the mentality of a nation within language sciences, it also provides a comparison of the given concepts. The author finds both similarities and differences and comes to the conclusion that, despite the apparent synonymy of the discussed concepts, there are important differences: they deal with different sides of world perception, they put emphasis on peculiar features of reality. Mentality is associated with the cultural aspect and the language worldview – with the liguocultural aspect. What is important is that both concepts are relevant to modern linguistics.

Abstract:
The article deals with the peculiarities of translating mentality through language in a transforming society. The article reveals the idea of a transitive society and the psychology of transitivity. It is shown that a transitive society influences social representations and values, determines attitudes and goals. Particular attention is paid to the interaction of language and mentality in the context of globalization, when there is an increase in changes in language, including in the Internet language. The language of the people is one of the main mechanisms for transmitting the mentality, through which a special national way of thinking is formed. Numerous studies have shown that the transitivity of society, accompanied by the influence of high technologies, informatization, and virtualization, has a transformative effect on the mentality as a whole. In the history of Russia, the fundamental transformations of society associated with the revolution of 1917 also determined changes in the language in the post-revolutionary period, which were manifested in the increase in the number of jargon, abbreviations of words, and the introduction of foreign borrowings into the language. In the works of scientists of those years, the peculiarities of the influence of foreign borrowings on people's consciousness and mentality in general were analyzed. V. M. Bekhterev, N. S. Trubetskoy, A. M. Selishchev, A. A. Potebnya and others paid attention to the study of these processes. Excessive changes in language can pose a threat to the national mentality due to their impact on traditional values, their destruction and the introduction of new values in a globalized world. The role of the media as a native speaker of a new language and as a tool for influencing mass consciousness is outlined. The most intensive manipulation of the masses through language influences increases in unstable, transitional periods of society development.

Today, when the Republic of Kazakhstan at the turn of the century gained independence, the generalization of all historical and spiritual knowledge and their use for the good of the country is necessary for the formation and development of national consciousness. In this context, the language of the runic inscriptions as a source reflects the mentality of the ancient world and the archetypes of the historical evolution of the linguistic units of the Turkic languages. Consequently, the ancient linguistic data reveal the continuity of their historical development, the successive connection of the system of ancient Turkic languages with the system of modern Turkic languages, incl. modern Kazakh language. The above is confirmed by the results of scientific research of G. Aydarov, Doctor of Philology, professor, runologist, who managed to penetrate into the secrets of ancient inscriptions carved on stones and establish diachronic connections of ancient Turkic languages with Kypchak Turkic languages, with the Kazakh language and thereby prove, that the Kazakh language does not belong to the so-called «new» group of languages and that the history of the language is older than the history of the nation. Professor G. Aydarov is one of the first in Kazakh Turkic studies to investigate the heterogeneous linguistic system of the ancient Turkic and ancient Uighur languages, graphic, phonetic-phonological, lexical, morphemic-derivational and grammatical tiers of ancient languages, defining their features and successive ties with modern Turkic languages, including with the Kazakh language. As a confirmation, the author of the article considers the structural ontology of the Turkic word (monosyllabic and other models of the Turkic proto-root), in the study of which G. Aydarov made his invaluable contribution. It should also be noted: the assertion of the author of the article that the followers of G. Aydarov, in the study of the ancient Turkic languages, actively use the anthropocentric approach, which makes it possible to reveal new knowledge about the world and mentality of the ancient Turkic peoples, which are so necessary for understanding the historical development of the Turkic world.

Certain myths are often perpetuated in a discipline, myths which upon later reflection are seen to be what they in fact are: unhelpful, deceptive or simply wrong. Often these myths are perpetuated in spite of good evidence to the contrary. This tendency is not unique to Biblical studies but is a pattern that is found in a range of disciplines. Thomas Kuhn, in The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, addresses this tendency in the so-called hard sciences. He does not use the term myth but rather speaks of the presuppositions of normal science, the scientific paradigm which controls the scientific community of a given time. But as is so often the case, growing evidence mounts that the model is unsatisfactory, that it fails in significant ways to explain evidence which is increasingly seen to be important. The evidence mounts, until a paradigm shift occurs, when the significant or major practitioners of a discipline realise that a new model must be invoked to explain the data at hand.

The colonial mentality, a perception of Filipino cultural inferiority, results in many Filipinos distancing themselves from their Filipino heritage. In Hawai‘i, the colonial history of the Philippines is reinforced by the history of Hawai‘i’s plantation era and the creation of a “local” identity, which marginalizes the Filipino community and strengthens the colonial mentality. A content analysis of 105 essays written by Filipino students enrolled in college-level Filipino language and culture classes in Hawai‘i was conducted to critically examine whether and how educational curriculum is used to challenge the colonial mentality. Data analysis shows students often entered classrooms with a colonial mentality that they learned through familial socialization and experiences of ethnic discrimination outside of the family. Although these language and culture courses helped students to reconnect with their Filipino heritage, many students developed a positive and essentialist construction of a Filipino identity, which reduced the individual’s agency in constructing an identity and facilitated processes of othering.

<p class="apa">The present paper attempts to recognize principles and methods of education based on Wittgenstein’s picture theory of language. This qualitative research utilized inferential analytical approach to review the related literature and extracted a set of principles and methods from his theory on picture language. Findings revealed that Wittgenstein believed in language as a picture of the real and assumed that the real is reflected in language. He believed that language and mentality are the same and language demonstrates a full picture of mentality. Besides, the world and the language possess a logical structure and this logic rules the world and the language. Later on, his picture theory of language, logic and mentality were used to extract and introduce principles for education as listed here: the reasonability principle, mind involvement principle, matching principle, reasoning principle, creativity principle and formation of mind, comprehensibility principle, liberal thinking principle, and the principle of considering individual differences. Thus, applying the method of concept comprehension, problem oriented method, heuristic method, brainstorming method and finally interactive methods like Socratic question and answer and group discussion method.</p>

Abstract:
In Estonia, there is only one official language. At the same time about 25–29 % of the population in Estonia considers Russian as their native language. The area of the Russian language in Estonia is located mostly in the northeastern county (Ida-Virumaa). Trying to integrate the region into the Estonian-speaking space leads to the building of Estonian-language cultural and educational institutions, while the country leaders seem to be ready to use the Russian language in the communication with Russian-speaking minority. At the same time, there is a tendency to reduce the share of Russian language education: opposition requires complete and immediate liquidation, while the government still insists on the gradual changes in the system, when there will be only a small number of Russian-language educational institutions. However, programs with partial teaching in Russian have remained at higher educational institutions, and some Russian-language conferences are still held at research centers. Estonia uses Russian speakers to attract foreigners who want to study Russian in Europe and to be taught by Russian native speakers. The Language Act regulates the correlation of Estonian and Russian in official institutions and the service sector. The Language Inspectorate constantly checks the compliance of services with the Language Act, at the same time infringing on the rights of the Russian-speaking population, which are also specified in the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities. The popularity of recently appeared Russian-language channel ETV+ cannot be compared with Russian federal channels. At the same time, the appearance of the TV programs “My Estonias” and “My Truth”, which create dialogue between the communities, is a good sign. These programs were launched due to the cultural interaction, in which the theater played a role of a platform for negotiations between Estonians and Russians. The problems of the Russian-speaking population outlined in theatrical productions are also caused by its heterogeneity, since language is not an unequivocal sign of national identity.

Abstract:
Cultural linguistics as a modern branch of the science of language exerts a detrimental effect on linguistic research, particularly in methodology. It is justly criticized for deficiency of logic, intuitive knowledge and subjectivity. The empirical method proves that linguistic structures typical of a particular language are not to be identified with a peculiar world view. Language has no creative potential to spawn a world of its own, so the phrase “linguistic mentality” is nothing but a metaphor. There is no asserting parallel relationship between thought and language, nor the dependence of ethnic mentality on a certain language type. Variation in world views prevails over language structures, inasmuch as a variety of ways to express ideas exceeds the number of language types.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the problem of postcolonial mentality in contemporary Ukraine, in particular the question of its linguistic component. The era of neocolonialism continues to exist even after the actual collapse of the colonial system in the twentieth century. The consequences of the long colonial past of peoples and nations are the deformed sense of national identity and, accordingly, the phenomenon of postcolonial mentality. More than three hundred years of the colonial regime in Ukraine and the purposeful policy of cultural expansion and language oppression promoted the formation of such a distorted type of national consciousness. The main manifestation of post-colonial mentality is a contemptuous attitude to the Ukrainian language, a diminution of its meaning as the foundation for nation-building, since artificially spreaded bilingualism actually appears as a means of Russification. It is proved that, despite the purposeful but inconsistent policy of renaissance during the Independence, the dominant influence of the Russian language in public and everyday use can not be ignored, since these phenomena are mostly chauvinistic in nature, which manifests itself in an apparent offensive on the legitimization of the Ukrainian language as the language of the State Ukraine, as the foundations of the right of the nation as a whole, as well as acting as a field for speculation as a conscious means of successfully manipulated technique in the slogan of the necessity of bilingualism, which is positioned as an essential attribute of the modern globalized world. Ukrainian/Russian dichotomy appears axiologically as shameful / prestigious, which, according to the author, is one of the manifestations of the post-colonial mentality of Ukrainians, namely the linguistic aspect of the functioning and even the collision between two cultures, nations, ideological systems and mentality. The language of the postcolonial mentality of Ukrainians is the subject of an analysis of the problem of finding means and efforts for the consolidation of the Ukrainian nation in connection with the urgent need for confrontation and prevention of linguocide by the aggressor state, since such colonial practices are total anachronism in a democratic society.

A Mentality expression system based on the affinity pleasure-arousal space of eye robots is proposed for the communication between human beings and households robots. Mentality status in the proposed space is calculated by a fuzzy inference method that uses language category as the output of a speech understanding module. The constructed eye robot system expresses mentality in the affinity-pleasure-arousal space by predefined eyelid and ocular movements. Mentality expression experiments with two scenarios are performed. Since the results of an evaluation questionnaire show an average evaluation value of 3.6 out of 5.0, the proposed system is suitable for a communication architecture between interlocutor and robot. The system provides a basic interface for an information terminal in home environments.

The article describes aphoristics as an integral part of the language and culture studies reflecting the value system of the people's mentality diachronically and synchronically. Russian aphoristics has been preserving national identity, morale and values throughout centuries, for generations transferring cultural and historic memory of the people. However, aphoristics reflects not only unique, specific features of Russian culture and mentality but also demonstrates unanimity of the culture codes and the universal character of human values. The study specially focuses on the Russian aphoristics sphere of concepts whereas, possible to outline and depict dozens of concepts specified on the level of culture as well. The concept LANGUAGE represents one of the key concepts of the human cognitive system, hence it is widely and diversely exposed in the corpus of the Russian aphoristics of the 18th-21st centuries. In aphoristics, LANGUAGE emerges in different ways. In Russian aphoristics, the specification of the concept LANGUAGE has got an ambivalent nature. Here LANGUAGE is realized in the homonymic phraseo-semantic field being verbalized by means of the most frequent components of the core and periphery of the phraseo-semantic field: LANGUAGE (Russian language, native tongue), foreign LANGUAGE, word, parole, syllable, etc.

The subject of this research is the interrelation between mentality and language. Mentality is conventionally understood as subconscious, archetypal manifestation of the system of values and attitudes of ethnolinguistic consciousness. National mentality is traced in the process of studying the semantics of idioms and paroemias of the language. The genre of proverbs, due to its semantic peculiarities, is characterized by various means of expression of mental groups, which corresponds to their cognitive-pragmatic status. Idioms and paroemias play the role of representatives of the mental characteristics of the ethos, which contribute to preservation of cultural distinctness and affect the mentality of native speakers, lead to the behavior stereotypical to the Russian culture and allow assessing life situations from the perspective of stereotypes. The main conclusion of the analysis conducted on paremiological units indicates that national mentality traits reflected in proverbs and idioms are associated with certain stereotypes in perception of the surrounding world, assessment of life situations, reconsideration of the essence of the phenomena, response to the ongoing transformations and events. All of the listed above fully corresponds to the main edificatory, didactic function of paroemias and idioms, as well as the key purpose of proverbs &ndash; enculturation of a person in the process of familiarizing with behavioral norms and riles, recommendations, dogmas and basic stereotypical models of perception of the surrounding worlds and the phenomena occurring therein.

Statement of the problem. Language in general is an instrument of thought and a means of socializing its speaker, moreover, it is an ideal substance for merging the nation into a single whole. The native language ensures presence of a unique mentality of each nation and its own world view. This is confirmed by social, historical and educational practice. The far-fetched attempts as such to artificially exalt or, on the contrary, belittle any of the existing languages have nothing to do with linguistics or any other science. They are undertaken, as a rule, to resolve certain political issues. Studying a foreign language is traditionally explained by individual’s desire to expand cultural and educational horizon, to intensify direct international relations, etc. The purpose of the article is to analyze statements on the topic of linguo-didactic needs of society in teaching the native language and a foreign language. Research methodology. The main method of research is discursive analysis, which involves identification of important meanings in texts, depending on social, psychological, educational and historical context. Research results. Today, quite different impulses are gaining relevance, primarily of social nature. Interest in learning foreign languages, especially English, apparent in Russia over the past three decades, has a number of social rather than educational reasons. There is a situation, in many respects similar to the gallomania of the Russian nobility of the 18th – 19th centuries, who opposed themselves to the rest of the nation in terms of linguo-mentality. Conclusions. If the dominant group of a society radically subordinates itself to the paradigms of exogenous language and the stereotypes of thinking and behavior dictated by it, then the more or less optimistic prospects of such a society as a whole are rather vague.

The paper highlights the most typical features of the lexico-grammatical category of diminutiveness from the derivational point of view. The correlation between language and culture, language and national linguistic traditions, language and national mentality is revealed through the category under study. The results of the research prove that applying cognitive approach to the analysis of the category of diminutiveness on the derivational level enables us to reveal: a) the existing asymmetry of linguistic images of the world in different languages, b) graduality of the lexico-grammatical category of diminutiveness in Modern Russian which brings forth peculiar derivational clusters.

This article discusses the methodological system of studying paremias in Russian language lessons. Linguistic and cultural analysis of paremia allows us to identify the existing value-significant representations of an ethnic group based on accumulated information of a cultural and historical nature, first of all, about a person in the aggregate of certain properties, qualities, activities, and his attitude to the world. Paremias are aphorisms of folk origin, characterized by conciseness of form, reproducibility of meaning and having, as a rule, an edifying meaning. Paremia is a unique object for the study of language and culture, the purpose of which is to study cultural layers in the structure of the meaning of language units. Paremia is capable not only of expressing a conclusion, but also of forming generalized ideas about the laws of life. Since paremias are part of the national language picture of the world, and therefore part of the national language mentality, in this case, in our opinion, it is also possible to talk about the existence of a proverbial mentality, that is, the mentality of the nation, reflected in the paremiological Fund. When studying the discipline “Russian language”, students have the opportunity to master the skills of linguistic and cultural analysis of language units, get acquainted with different types of exercises and tasks, prepare to apply the acquired skills and implement the skills in regular, extracurricular and extracurricular activities.

Previous studies emphasized that there is a close connection between speech and thinking. The paper analyses the peripheral semantics of the German language's active vocabulary units to define how they represent the features of the national, linguistic picture of the world, namely, the mental traits of the German ethnos. Semantic methods and the extrapolation methods of typical secondary values on non-nonmental characteristics are used mainly; the comparative method was partially used. The contextual method was used as an auxiliary method for illustrating common ethical, aesthetic, and pragmatic guidelines (presuppositions) and stereotypes. The paper carried out: a) semantic analysis of peripheral lexical-semantic variants of arbitrarily and expediently selected notional parts of speech; b) comparison of peripheral semantics of similar words of German and Russian languages against the background of the Russian language; c) clarification of ethnoculturological connotation of individual Germanisms found in the Russian language. The article proves that peripheral semantics in its lexico-semantic, semasiological, and lexicographical understanding expresses key symptom complexes of German mentality, which can be expressed by concepts order, accuracy, family, wealth, quality, practicism and etc. It is found that the German linguistic picture of the world in comparison with the Russian one the material is marked by the minimalism of estimated values, practical orientation and is alluded to bookish style. Russian customary law is a unique source for the study of the Russian traditional legal mentality. It is a kind of a cast from the people’s “instinctive right-feeling” (I. A. Ilyin), a product, a repository and at the same time a generator of legal mental attitudes. The results of research in the field of cognitive linguistics confirm the connection between thought processes and language. The author proceeds from the fact that the national language is an appropriate basis; and the means of linguistics are an effective tool for studying the national legal culture, legal mentality, legal consciousness. The paper describes separate approaches to the interpretation of the concepts of “mentality” and “mindset”, proposes a definition of the concept of “Russian legal mentality” and identifies the category of those possessing it.The procedures for considering and resolving cases according to the norms of secret, written, pre-reform (before 1864) and post-reform (after the Judicial Reform of 1864) process, fixed by positive law (legislation), not only in form, but also in the approach itself, differed significantly from the traditions of popular justice as a “branch” of Russian customary law.The main attitudes of the Russian traditional legal mentality are described in procedural aspects that are significant for the perception of law and legislation. Russian traditional legal mentality is reconstructed in order to identify the key mental attitudes inherent in the tradition of Russian customary law, in contrast with the approaches natural for the Western legal tradition. This is done in the context of the following phenomena: the ideal of justice, procedural order, legal qualification, the value of evidence, the purpose and result of justice.

Unlike the functional manifestations of literary language, which do not go beyond the norms of the literary standard, the language of verbal art ensures its uniqueness through the features typical of one’s individual style and in this case, with the use of bawdy language. However, this freedom which is quite characteristic of a literary text and is widely used by Shakespeare, is by no means absolute and pointless. The abundant use of vulgar and obscene words and expressions is conditioned by the specificities of the English language, the national-aesthetic mentality of the language speakers and the development of historical and cultural characteristics. The present article aims to study, analyze and compare phraseological units with the component “heart” expressing love and devotion in Armenian, Russian and English. These phraseological units in the languages mentioned have structural, grammatical, stylistic, as well as semantic similarities and differences. The similarities reflect the peculiarities of the linguistic thinking of the language bearers, whereas the differences witness the peculiarities of the mentality of the given nation.

Abstract:
The article deals with the continuity of language and culture based on historical data. The study analyzes the definitions of the word culture and focuses on its nature. It is also important to understand that ancient culture refers to the spiritual and material knowledge of the people, as well as their national mentality, national consciousness, worldview, customs and traditions. The concept of knowledge formation is analyzed. And its coexistence with language is described as «language is a mirror of culture».The main theme of the article is the continuity of language and culture, which have been intertwined since ancient times, their role in the formation of spiritual and material vocabulary in society. At the same time, the role of language in the public consciousness, customs and traditions, rituals is shown and analyzed in the most comprehensive way. Because with the help of language and culture, a culture of speech, behavior, customs, rituals, dress code, art and ethnic symbols, etc. have been formed. The main issue of the article is the continuity of language and culture, which is understood by the people in terms of spiritual and material knowledge. In a word, language and culture is a complex concept that covers the entire national mentality, national consciousness, worldview, customs, spiritual and material wealth, starting with personality traits.

Abstract:
The article discusses and interprets the Basque mentality values and their evidence in the contemporary political discourse and media. An important task of communication science and medialinguistics is the study of pragma-linguistic properties of media texts and their impact on the audience. The contemporary Spanish media feature an impressive range of sources representing and interpreting the multicultural and multi-ethnic situation in Spain, as well as ongoing socio-political and socio-economic changes. Together with the Spanish language being the official state language, the Catalan, the Galician and the Basque have been established co-official languages by the Spanish Constitution. Basque Autonomous Community, or the Basque Country, is one of the most prosperous and steadily developing Autonomous Communities of Spain, which affects the socio-political situation in the region and the discourse of political parties. A vast majority of Basque people are bilingual. The hypothesis of this study states that the contemporary reality of the Basque Country finds its reflection in value dominants of the discourse of political parties of the Basque Country. This discourse is objectified by the Mass Media rhetoric, studying which the authors determine and discuss the value dominants of Basque linguistic culture, their linguo-pragmatic features and their use in the media language, as well as their lexical, semantic, morphological and syntactic features. All this builds up the topicality of the research into pragma-linguistic parameters of media texts and mechanisms of their impact on the audience. The authors infer that the media rhetoric includes onomastic dominants (naming units of Spanish Basque Country and French Basque Country and their paraphrases, of Spain, Basque people, and the Basque language), and keywords of the Basque mentality introduced into a Spanish text in Basque. Moreover, being integral components of the discourse of political parties in the Basque Country, these linguistic means acquire and realize their cultural and symbolic potential, and reflect the mentality, values, and traditions of Basques in the modern Basque and Spanish media.
