Abstract:
Delayed maturation and growth to large sizes are only advantageous under stable environmental conditions where food resources are limited. Specialization to algal symbiosis is also highly advantageous under those conditions if sunlight is available. The coevolution of these two characteristics has occurred many times in many foraminiferal lineages. These traits are sometimes associated with increased embryon size and suppression of sexual reproduction, which are also characteristics most advantageous under stable environmental conditions. Specialization for these traits, ensuring success in wa

Abstract:
Introduction: Mediastinal teratomas are the most common type of mediastinal germ cell tumor. Most patients with mediastinal teratomas remain clinically silent. However, these teratomas occasionally rupture into the thoracic cavity, causing severe complications; surgical intervention is always required for ruptured teratomas. Herein, we report that case of a large anterior mediastinal teratoma that ruptured into the pleural cavity and caused a lung infection, pleural effusion, and subsequent mediastinitis. Case Report: A 29-year-old man presented with rapidly progressive dyspnea and chest pain.

Abstract:
The case of a 68-year-old female patient, without comorbidities, with a diagnosis of a large parapharyngeal abscess on the left, was reported by a neck CT scan, which evolved with spontaneous drainage and complete resolution of the peritonsillar bulging, completing the therapeutic plan with antibiotic therapy, without abscess recurrence. Clinical suspicion, associated with neck CT, is an indispensable item in the design of early treatment, in order to avoid complications.
