This paper presents a novel technique for coloring stainless steel utilizing a fiber laser. This study develops a processing technology that uses a fiber laser as a laser marking tool, and varies processing parameters such as pre-surface-processing conditions, stainless steel type, line distance, laser power, engraving speed, and laser pulse frequencies to achieve different results. This study investigates the results of the stainless workpiece coloring using optical microscope (OM). This study shows that polished stainless steel 316 exhibits the best engraving effect. Coloring silver for decorative purposes and for applying identification marks is an important task. In this paper, we consider a method for coloring silver surfaces using VIS plasmonic response in laser-induced nanoparticles (NPs). An analysis was made of the resulted morphology and chemical composition of nanoparticles obtained with nanosecond laser pulses. The dependence of the size and distribution of silver NPs on the laser exposure parameters is determined. The developed color palette was characterized using colorimetric coordinates.

Abstract:
Laser ignition is viewed as a potential future technology for advanced high-efficiency low-emission natural gas engines. However, in order to make laser ignition systems more practical, thereby enabling them to transition from the laboratory to industrial settings, there is a need to develop fiber optically delivered ignition systems. Recent work at Colorado State University has shown the possibility of using coated hollow fibers for spark delivery and has demonstrated laser ignition and operation of a single engine cylinder using hollow fiber delivery. In order to practically operate a multip

Liquid-liquid segmented flows in microchannels fabricated on polymer test chips were investigated experimentally. Polymer test chips were prepared using hot embossing of polycarbonate (PC) sheets with micro-milled brass mold inserts. Three different configurations of microchannels were prepared with injection to test channels expansion ratios of 16, 4 and 2 and a fixed test channel geometry. Deionized water with blue food-coloring dye (1% v/v) was used as a dispersed fluid at flow rates (QD) between 0.5 and 60 μl/min.
