Full textTo extend the possible use of a truck it can be equipped with auxillary equipment for handling cargo and different working tools. These are powered using a Power Take-Off (PTO) connected to the vehicle´s drivetrain. In the current situation the control system lacks information about these loads, which can have a negative impact on the control. In this thesis a method for estimating the unknown PTO torque is presented. The method is based on Newtons second law of motion describing the motion of the flywheel. The driving torque from the drivetrain is described by a dynamic model. By calculating how much torque that should suffice in the present driving situation and comparing this to the torque delivered by the engine, the parasitic losses and unknown external loads can be estimated. A sensitivity analysis of the ambient influence on the model and the PTO estimation shows that the estimation cannot be performed in a robust and reliable way. The errors that arise from faulty input to the model such as deficient road slope and vehicle mass information result in errors with greater magnitude than the load torque to be estimated. It is also concluded that in the Engine Management System (EMS), the calculation of the torque delivered by the engine can show a static error of up to approximately 70Nm.

Full textA facility full with computers needs backup-power to guarantee the function. Loads in this facility will produce current and voltage harmonics that can pollute and cause trouble with the quality of electricity. Coromatic are interested in knowing more about how these loads can affect the generator. A measurement was performed on a facility when they ran a functional test. The results indicated that THD increased, the third harmonic turned out to be the single harmonic with the highest value. The value is within the boundaries for THDV according to SS-EN 50160 and 61000-2-2, except for the third harmonic. Its value was far too high. No action is propsed to deal with the problem at the moment. This thesis has provided Coromatic with valuable information too consider when they building new systems.

Full textIn today's society there are high demands on the means of transport. It should be accessible, flexible, comfortable and above all fast. The speeds in rail traffic are increasing and putting higher demands on the performance of the railway wheels when the thermal loads of the wheel increases. The question is how the existing train wheels behave for higher velocities. This is a surveying report of a model for thermal loads of a tread braked railway wheel. The model is tested for two cases, one case where the model is subjected to a stop brake scenario and another where the model is subjected to drag braking. The report contains the temperatures and tensions generated in the wheel for the two cases, plus a sensitivity analysis of the models’ parameters. For the stop braking scenario the transmittable torque was also evaluated. The case of stop braking generated a maximum temperature, occurring in the wheel ring, at approximately 280-350°C. The total deformation was approximately 0.4 mm and the transmitted torque was between 175-285 kNm. The results showed that the model was not that sensitive in its parameters. The result for the drag braking was different. Its temperatures differed with up to 150°C and the deformation varied from 1 to 3 mm as the parameters were changed. It turned out that the convection coefficient for air and the radiation from the wheel had a major impact on the wheel’s temperatures. Finally future work could include field studies and an estimation of the wheel’s life span.

Företaget vill utveckla en ny konstruktion för enstaka punktbelysningar för att utöka sin konkurrensförmåga. Föreliggande projekt innefattar utveckling av en ny konstruktion utgående från en av företaget given specifikation. Den nya konstruktionen skall kunna hantera laster upp till 300 kg och dimensionerna skall hållas så små som möjligt med bibehållande av den ursprungliga lyftenheten. Detta dokument innehåller alla utvecklingssteg som följts fram till slutlig lösning, likaså materialval, val av tillverkningsmetod och monteringssätt för samtliga komponenter. Den valda lösningen visar sig vara konkurrenskraftig i jämförelse med alternativen emedan den kan lyfta tredubbla lasten med bevarade yttre dimensioner. Av konkurrensskäl är självklart också formgivningen av betydelse för uppdragsgivaren, varför även hänsyn till detta togs. Från estetisk synpunkt visar sig den valda lösningen vara fördelaktig emedan den lika lätt kan döljas bakom ett "falskt" innertak som kapslas in i en lämpligt utformad kåpa av plast. Lösningen uppfyller således alla de ställda kraven i specifikationen. Den är tillförlitlig, kompakt, billig att tillverka, lätt att montera och har en tilltalande formgivning.
