The citizenship of the Vatican City State is characterised by individual features relating above all to the manner in which it is conferred and its forfeiture. Abstract The Peace of Venice (1177), which ended the nearly twenty-year-long schism between Pope Alexander III and his opponents supported by Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa, has long been the subject of controversy among scholars, who focused initially on the concrete provisions of the treaty and more recently on the symbolic acts that affirmed it. This paper uses Alexandrian sources to concentrate on peace itself as the pope’s most important political goal: the biography of Alexander written by his cardinal Boso, the frescoes in the Lateran Palace painted after the victory, and other statemen

Contraction of the lateral pterygoids and submandibular muscles depresses the mandible. Abstract:
Abstract. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is now still a rare disease that cannot be cured, so patients are in desperate need of medications that can treat the disease. Until now, many researchers have tried to illustrate the pathogenesis of ALS, including misfolded protein aggregation, oxidative stress damage, etc. At the same time, many drugs are in the research phase. However, no consensus has been reached on the pathogenesis of ALS and the drugs on the market can only slow down the process of ALS. This paper firstly investigated researches on the pathogenesis of ALS, and then investiga

This case report describes the orthodontic treatment of a woman, aged 15 years, with permanent dentition, brachyfacial typology, with congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors. Multibracket straightwire fixed appliance was used to open the space for dental implant placement, and treat the impaired occlusion. The missing lateral incisors were substituted with oral implants.

Background: Low back pain may arise from disorders of the sacroiliac joint in up to 30% of patients. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the nerves innervating the sacroiliac joint has been shown to be a safe and efficacious strategy. Objectives: We aimed to develop a new RFA technique to relieve low back pain secondary to sacroiliac joint disorders. Study Design: Methodology development with validation through prospective observational non-randomized trial (PONRT). Setting: Academic multidisciplinary health care system, Ohio, USA. Methods: We devised a guide-block to facilitate accurate placemen

ABSTRACT Benign corrosive lesion of aerodigestive tract is difficult to treat. We report a case of a 3-year-old male child who accidentally ingested acid and presented to the emergency a few hours later with difficulty in breathing and dysphagia. He was admitted and underwent a tracheotomy. A feeding jejunostomy was also done. The patient was then planned for an endoscopic examination followed by a lateral pharyngotomy. A few weeks later, a bougie dilatation of the esophageal stricture was done and the dysphagia was relieved.

AbstractThe safety and effectiveness of an absorbable implant for lateral cartilage support have been recently demonstrated in subjects with nasal valve collapse (NVC) at 12 months postprocedure. This follow-up study aimed to assess whether the safety and effectiveness of the implant persist in these patients for 24 months after the procedure. Thirty subjects with Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) score ≥ 55 and isolated NVC were treated; 14 cases were performed in an operating suite under general anesthesia and 16 cases were performed in a clinic-based setting under local anesthesia

Abstract:
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease, the pathogenesis of which is based on alternations in the mitochondria of motor neurons, causing their progressive death. A growing body of evidence shows that more efficient mitophagy could prevent and/or treat this disorder by suppressing mitochondrial dysfunction-induced oxidative stress and inflammation. Mitophagy has been considered one of the main mechanisms responsible for mitochondrial quality control. Since ALS is characterized by enormous oxidative stress, several edible phytochemicals that can activate mi

Introduction: For many years, the discoid meniscus was synonymous with snapping knee syndrome. incidence of discoid lateral meniscus is estimated to be 0.4% to 17%, whereas the discoid medial meniscus is extremely rare (0.1% to 0.3%). It has been reported that about 20% of cases are bilateral. Patients with discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) often show normal plain radiography findings but may also show subtle indirect signs. Case Presentation: Female, 59 years old, complained of pain on her left knee after walking and climbing stairs for the last two months. On examination, the range of motion of
