Abstract:
As school enrollments across the United States include increasing numbers of students of color, the number of administrators of color remains disproportionate. In California school districts, where a large percentage of students are Latino and Latina, Latino and Latina principals remain rare. While studies have suggested why Latinos and Latinas do not enter educational leadership, fewer have examined why they do elect to enter the field. This ethnographic exploratory study examines factors that led Latino and Latina educators to enter administrative leadership preparation programs with the goal of becoming school principals. The sample includes interviews with seven Latino and Latina elementary school principals from a large urban school district in California. The study uses Freire’s concepts of banking, conscientization, and praxis as a lens to synthesize the findings. The investigation provides insight regarding how school districts and colleges of education can consider targeted recruitment of Latino and Latina leaders to increase the candidate pool for educational leadership and close the disproportionate ethnic gap between who attends California public schools and who leads them. The research proposes a possible working model for the development, recruitment and growth of the leadership pipeline in California schools. Lastly, this study is a call to action for Latinos and Latinas to consider becoming active participants in the narrative that defines them in the educational landscape of the United States. Issues of race, gender, socio-economic status, language, politics, and immigration are discussed as factors that contribute to the development of Latinos and Latinas in school leadership.

Gonzalez, Alejandro. "Latino migrant parent influence on Latino migrant student university enrollment." Thesis, California State University, Fullerton, 2013. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3574079.

Abstract:

Migrant families have long been victims of their unusual lifestyle. High poverty conditions combined with constant mobility in search for agricultural work have contributed to their challenging lifestyle. As a result, Latino migrant students are among the least likely to graduate from high school and pursue a college degree. However, in spite of such challenges faced by Latino migrant families, a small percentage of Latino migrant students graduate from high school and enroll in an institution of higher learning. The purpose of this research was to identify strategies employed by Latino migrant parents to assist their children in graduating from high school and enrolling in an institution of higher education. The study specifically focused on the role Latino migrant parents play in supporting and guiding their children into higher education. The following three questions guided this study: (a) How is parent involvement perceived and defined by Latino migrant parents of students enrolled in higher education?; (b) What barriers and support systems were present that impeded or supported their children's pursuit of higher education?; and, (c) What educational strategies are present in migrant families that have children in higher education?

Guided by a critical race theorist approach, individual interviews and focus group interviews. five themes emerged from the findings: (a) Success as Defined by Migrant Families; (b) Reinforcing the Value of Hard Work: (c) Notable Barriers and Obstacles in the Latino Migrant Community; (d) Strategies to Succeed Academically; and (e) The Impact of the Migrant Education Program.

One important and notable limitation of the study was the sample size. It is possible that a larger size would have resulted in more divergent findings and would have yielded broader recommendations. Furthermore, it is probable that only utilizing interviews as the primary information source has limited the findings.

Leon, Velez Angelica Maria. "Latino Subgroups Political Participation in American Politics: The Other Latinos’ Electoral Behavior." Scholar Commons, 2017. http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/etd/6723.

Abstract:
This thesis explores the impact of Latinidad in Latino political participation, especially in regard to voting behavior. Although Latinos often have been portrayed as a decisive electoral group, the reality is they have not fulfilled the expectations imposed upon them. Therefore, I argue Latinos with different levels of group consciousness will engage differently in politics, which affects the voting statistics of the ethnicity in Censuses, reports and surveys. The use of pan-ethnic terms and the constant stereotypes of Latinos all being “the same,” has caused separation rather than cohesiveness within the minority group, which has resulted in low political engagement. I propose that those Latino immigrants and their descendants who do not have a strong attachment to the pan-ethnicity will behave differently than those who identify themselves in pan-ethnic terms. Consequently, I have come to wonder how Latinidad impacts those who are not part of the main Latino subgroups —Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans— and have been denominated the “other Latinos” when engaging in politics? South Americans, Central Americans, and Caribbean immigrants have been smashed into a group where they do not occupy a significant place. I suggest that differences in country of origin will have an impact on how Latin American immigrants will participate in American politics. To test my hypothesis, I have made a secondary analysis of existent literature. This analysis includes crosstabulations of data obtained from the 2012 National Survey of Latinos, conducted by the Pew Research Center. Through the analysis of the data and the existent literature, I have concluded that the pan-ethnic terms are not strongly entrenched in Latino’s regular use of identity. Respondents mostly said to not have a preference for either term, still their vote intention was high. Differences are noticeable among Latinos/Hispanics that have different ancestries, however, these are sometimes stabilized by citizenship. The data proved that the identity categories used for surveys directed at Latinos/Hispanics are not specific enough, given that a considerable percentage of participants were confused about how to classify themselves, which altered the results. This current study will contribute to the work of Latino studies, that for more than 50 years have tried to get to know those who make up the Latino community, by approaching identity and Latino politics from a different perspective. A perspective where those called Latinos/Hispanics can identify themselves instead of being randomly categorized.

Abstract:
As Latino English language learners (ELL) flood national classrooms their non-Latino, English-speaking teachers are faced with meeting the academic needs of limited English proficient students who hail from cultures unlike their own. This study investigated actions taken by teams of non-Latino, English-speaking educators of Latino (ELL) in order to be effective teachers of this minority population. Two premises prompted the search for what enabled non-Latino English speakers to be effective teachers of this minority population. The supposition was that the non-Latino teacher of ELLs must have: (a) familiarity with the language of the minority; and (b) a high affinity for Latino cultures to affect learning. Support for neither premise was found in this research. However, a mediating factor emerged showing that teams who were successful in moving toward instructional effectiveness for their ELLs incorporated other professionals in the building. These additional team members spoke the minority languages and were familiar with the minority cultures. Two avenues of action found through rigorous readings was the focus of this research. Each was found to be beneficial in moving a collaborative team toward instructional effectiveness for their Latino ELLs. The first is for the team embedded within the bounds of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to team well adhering to the principles of the PLC. The second is to build an environment of trust within the team. Implications for future research could include a comparison of PLC element and trust facet strength in a multicultural setting as opposed to a single minority.

Abstract:
The achievement gap between White students and students of color has long been a concern of educators. It is well established that critical pedagogy and culturally relevant teaching practices increase the possibility of academic achievement for ethnic minority students; yet, throughout the U.S., the implementation of such practices has been less than optimal. It is also clear that some teachers are doing an excellent job of teaching students of color. However, it is not clear what those teachers are doing and what their practices look like, particularly in secondary classrooms and for Latina/o students—the fastest growing ethnic minority population in the U.S. Are successful teachers of Latina/o youth engaging in critical pedagogy or culturally relevant teaching practices? Have they developed caring, empathetic relationships with students that result in greater engagement and academic success? Using a multifaceted theoretical framework of critical social theory, seen specifically through the lenses of culturally relevant pedagogy, empathy and false empathy, critical studies in Whiteness, and critical race theory, this ethnographic multiple-case study aimed to answer those questions. By observing and interviewing educators whom principals, teachers, and parents all nominated as “successful” for the Latina and Latino students in a particular school, and identifying the teaching strategies and classroom management routines they employed, I hoped to illuminate key practices and underlying attitudes that other teachers can emulate as they strive to reach and teach Latina/o students.

Abstract:

Obesity is described as a chronic disease affecting adults, children, and adolescents. It has become a significant burden for the healthcare system and is considered one of the top health problems contributing to severe complications from childhood through adulthood. Obesity represents one of the most worrisome health problems in the United States, because it directly affects the health of individuals.

The research objective was to educate parents and grandparents of Latino children under age 17 regarding the importance of healthy food choices and physical activity. The aim was to empower parents and grandparents to practice health promotion and disease prevention. A descriptive design with pretest and posttest was utilized to indicate the knowledge gained by participants after the instructional phase. The result of the data analysis indicated an increase for the majority of participants regarding their level of understanding about healthy eating and the importance of physical activity.

Abstract:
This study offers a reinterpretation of the direct tradition of medieval Platonism on the basis of new evidence from the Meno and the Phaedo translated into Latin by Henry Aristippus between 1154 and 1160. In particular, it provides an edition of interlinear and marginal annotations and glosses of the Meno and the Phaedo: the manuscript tradition is particularly useful for understanding which aspects of these two Platonic dialogues were particularly studied during the Middle Ages, as it preserves the considerations of various readers on Platonic philosophy. In the most fortunate cases, it is precisely the manuscript tradition that offers new perspectives that can be used to redesign the networks of reception of the two Platonic texts examined in this study in the centuries following their translation, with particular reference to the 13th and 14th centuries. The research was carried out on unpublished material and manuscript testimonies, with the help of two strategies. First, the medieval sources were submetted to a doxographic analysis, through a bottom-up approach consisting in the identification of the terms ‘Plato’, ‘Meno’, ‘Phaedo’ (or ‘Fedrone’ according to medieval usage). This allowed to understand in which contexts and in relation to which themes the references to the three terms appeared and to provide a list of authors who, between the 13th and the 14th century, had the opportunity to read the Meno and/or the Phaedo in Henry Aristippus’ translation. The second strategy, which we could perhaps describe as ‘inside-out’, was applied in the editing phase of the interlinear and marginal annotations and glosses of the two translations. As an especially important paratextual element, the ‘marginal’ writing proves to be particularly useful for deriving the constituent elements of the two dialogues (inside) that were commented, re-written, re-elaborated and interpreted in the margins of the two texts (outside). By employing both strategies, it is possible to reveal the core concepts of Platonic philosophy that, to a greater or lesser extent, caught the attention of medieval readers of the Latin Meno and the Phaedo.

Abstract:
This qualitative study addresses how the Dallas Morning News and Al Día reporters and editors determine what type of news related to the Dallas Latino and Hispanic communities gets covered. It also looks into how and why each newspaper tackles the coverage of these communities. Through a systematic analysis of 8 in-depth interviews and a 6-month ethnography, the findings of this study suggest that Latino and Hispanic journalists in Dallas feel the Latino and Hispanic communities are regarded as the "other." This study suggests the newsroom's hegemony and its news production routines influence the way Latino and Hispanic communities are covered in Dallas, and the way Latino and Hispanic reporters and editors who primarily cover these communities are treated. Though the newsrooms have made an effort to diversity its staff, reporters and editors claim they still have a long way to go before the staff accurately represents the large Hispanic and Latino population in the city.

Conflito Distributivo.
Abstract: The origins of inertial inflation theory are not a consensus in the Brazilian Academy, as some authors suggest that inercialist theory is a product of Latin American structuralism. The overall objective of this thesis is to investigate the possible association between the theories of inertialist inflation and the Latin American structuralism of the 1950's from an inseparable economic historical perspective. The object of study is in a high level of abstraction and should be treated as in Brazilian Economic History's field thought. To fulfill this goal, we contrast the inflation theory of structuralist Latin American writers Juan Noyola, Osvaldo Sunkel and Celso Furtado with three versions of inercialist theory from Francisco Lopes, Luiz Carlos Bresser-Pereira and Yoshiaki Nakano, and André Lara-Resende & Persio Arida. The results confirmed the theoretical compatibility between these theories, but that does not mean with certainty that the inercialism is a byproduct of structuralism. Thus, we investigated in the literature as it gave the theoretical constitution of inercialism, which was not unanimous on the second paradigmatic moment, as Modenesi (2005) suggests that the model of inflationary feedback of Mario Henrique Simonsen was the link between latin american structuralist literature and inercialism. Bresser-Pereira and Nakano (1986) indicate, however, that this is due to Ignacio Rangel's influence. In advance, this dissertation results suggest that inercialist economists from FGV-SP are a refinement product of the structuralist literature, with theoretical elements of Ignacio Rangel. However, we disagree with Modenesi (2005), as we conclude that the inercialism of PUC-RJ is unprecedented in relation to latin american structuralists. Keywords: Structuralism. Inertial Inflation. Distributive Conflict.

Abstract:

This dissertation addresses the problem of racial stratification of the Latino community in the United States from the theoretical position of critical race theory. Racial stratification for Latino residents and Latino immigrants is possible in the everyday through a series of practices that allow for persons of the community to contribute to the proliferation of race in American society by rendering race very difficult to address politically. The theoretical analysis of friendship as a form of moral aesthetics in the works of Aristotle, Kant, and Rousseau allows for a theory of race that addresses the invisibility and the transcendence of race constitutive of American society and, therefore, constitutive of the racial stratification of the Latino community in the United States. In this theoretical development, race is thought as an aesthetic of both the citizen and the immigrant subjects or, in other words, as a race-aesthetics. McKnight's (2010) theory of the conditionality of race, Hall's (New Ethnicities 1996, Race, Articulation, and Societies Structured in Dominance 1996) theories of cultural representation and hegemonic domination, Gilroy's (1995) theory of Black Atlantic counterculture, and Mills' (1997) theory of the hegemony of the racial contract are critically engaged and expanded with the theory of the race-aesthetic.

Abstract:

Conflict resolution style was examined with 191 married Latino couples residing in Houston and Dallas, Texas, representing 21 different nationalities. The purpose of this research study was to examine conflict resolution styles most predominant among the Latino couples in the sample and to examine if various demographic data correlated with the couples conflict resolution style. The dependent variables were conflict resolution style (avoidance, volatile, and validator) using Gottman's MSI (Marital Conflict Scale, 1994). Using the same items on the MSI, and direct statements about Latino's communication from the Marriage and Family Therapy literature, other dependent variables were identified (unity, harmony, autonomy, conservatism and passion) with factor analysis and content analysis. The statistically significant independent variables were religion, language, education, and country of birth. The majority of this sample identified them selves as having a validating style of conflict resolution. Clinical implications for family therapists are discussed.

Abstract:
Over the course of a modern lifetime, television viewing accounts for a significant amount of information taken in by viewers. Within that consumption lies a potential problem. Viewers may learn erroneous messages about people and the world. Since television has characterized Latinos in ways that have emphasized cultural stereotypes, viewers may learn to perceive them in a corresponding manner. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 403 students from five universities and two community colleges located in Northern California. The respondents completed a seventy-one item questionnaire. Five key variables were utilized to measure relationships between them. The key variables included: learning about Latinos from television, positive perceptions of Latinos, negative Latino stereotypes, willingness to communicate with Latinos, and self-esteem. Frequency, correlation, and regression analyses indicated that there was significant interplay between the key variables. The results revealed an association between learning about Latinos from television and negative Latino stereotypes. Similarly, lower willingness to communicate with Latinos was associated with negative Latino stereotypes. However, higher willingness to communicate with Latinos was associated with positive perceptions of Latinos. Likewise, willingness to communicate with Latinos was positively associated with self-esteem. A multiple regression analysis indicated that learning about Latinos from television and lower willingness to communicate with Latinos were predictors of negative Latino stereotypes. Conversely, a second regression analysis indicated that higher willingness to communicate with Latinos and positive interaction with Latinos were predictors of positive perceptions of Latinos.

Abstract:
This study examined parent engagement, child engagement, and quality of problem solving in a sample of families engaged in a trial of parent management training intervention. Data were collected for treatment and control groups at preintervention and 2, 4, and 6 months after the initial assessment. Variables in this study were measured utilizing a global coding scheme used to categorize parent-child behavioral observations. The coding scheme was developed by Forgatch, Knutson, and Mayne. Preliminary analyses led to scale changes due to lack of variance in observations. Results show that treatment group showed a gain in problem solving skills at T2; however those gains were not retained at T3. There was a gain between T3 and T4. The control group showed an increase at T4 from baseline in problem solving skills. Both parent and child engagement decreased for both groups, with the lowest time point occurring at T3.

Abstract:

Background: Diabetes was recently declared the fifth leading cause of death in minority groups with minorities constituting 25% of all adult patients with diabetes in the United States (USDHHS, 2012). A 2007–2009 National Survey of people, aged 20 or older, diagnosed with diabetes demonstrated a prevalence rate of 7.1% for non–Hispanic whites, 8.4% for Asian Americans, 12.6% for non–Hispanics black, and 11.8% for Hispanics (CDC, 2010).

Problem: Decreasing avoidable risk factors for diabetes complications through effective culturally competent diabetes education can diminish diabetes related complications. Yet, culturally appropriate approaches for minority groups infrequently have been investigated (ADA, 2009).

Research question: Does Latino pastor delivered diabetes education increase diabetes knowledge in a Latino population?

Research Design and Method: This study used a two–group pretest posttest quasi–experimental design. A convenience sample of Latino patients volunteering from two different churches were recruited, n=40 non-intervention group n=42 intervention group. Outcome measurement included The Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ–24) level measured before and after the intervention. The nonintervention group had standard passive booklet distribution. The intervention group also had standard booklet distribution and active participation of a respected community leader.

Results: One hundred thirteen Latino volunteers completed the diabetes survey. Eighty–two respondents (non–intervention n=40, intervention n=42) were met the criteria of completing the surveys correctly. The independent–samples t–test comparing the mean scores of the non–intervention and intervention groups found a significant difference between the mean scores (t= -37.584; df= 65.547; p <0.00). The mean score of the posttest for the non–intervention group (m= 5.92) was significantly lower than that of the intervention group (m=19.14).

Importance: The significant findings from this study with the pastor as the health educator, underscores the potential force that lives within a community, and the need for health care professionals to engage and utilize the trusted community leaders to disseminate important health information.

Abstract:
Initially, this work presents a research on the I Latin America Biennial of 1978 and its Symposium. Secondly, the event brought subsidies to critical thinking about Contemporary Latin America continent. We have noted the relevance of the dialogue about art in its specifically Latin American identity (neither American nor European) occurred in this biennial, and within the frames of the São Paulo Biennial Foundation. Moreover, the thesis is presented in four chapters, besides the introduction and final considerations. The chapters bring information about: (1) São Paulo Biennial Foundation, including the view of the international editions plus the fourth national ones; (2) its organization of the first Latin America Biennial, its position and expectations of the art criticism; (3) the Symposium, the presentation of some thesis, and its artists belief; (4) the thought of the art critics of this period, especially the critical view of Aracy Amaral, the procedures related to a possible II Latin America Biennial, the commissions of art critics; in particular, the comparison of the I Latin American Biennial with the 30th São Paulo Biennial, and similarities with the 54th Venice Biennial and Documenta 13, plus, the Biennial of MERCOSUR and VentoSul. We recovered some unpublished documents and were concerned to reconstruct historically the process of organizing this biennial in study. Ideas and strategies designed by the artistic director (curator) about the concept of \"Latin American art and also by the art critics involved in the Art and Culture Council as well as in the Symposium were extracted from the documents. We have also investigated the issue of the Biennial being partially unknown for so many decades, especially in studies about art in Brazil. All in all, in the undertaken study, the artistic and political scene of the 1970 and 1980s were considered whenever it is a relevant context to understand the idea of a large Latin American exhibition, its organization and its critical and cultural branches for the debate on Latin America and Caribbean. A special attention is given to the role of art in the process of integration of this region of the American continent.

Abstract:
In this study, I investigate how the issue of immigration affects Latino voter turnout. I hypothesize that U.S. Latino citizens who view immigration as highly important and helpful to the United States will be more likely to turn out to vote in midterm and presidential elections. In addition to a contextual analysis on elections in Arizona and California, I perform a probit regression analysis on survey data from Pew Hispanic's 2004 National Survey of Latinos on Politics and Civic Participation. The results are mixed with respect to the initial expectations. While respondents who view immigration as important and helpful are more likely to turn out than those who view immigration as important and hurtful, the results suggest that respondents who find immigration as unimportant may not be less likely to turn out. Further, there are some differences between Latino subgroups, although these differences are minor. Ultimately, the hypotheses presented in this study find moderate support.

Abstract:
The research presented on this paper examined the impact that the number of barriers have towards the delay in getting treatment among the Latino population. Participants (N=31) at Family Solution Collaborative, answered questions presented to them via a self-administered questionnaire that contained questions that examined types of barriers and how they impact mental health services. An independent sample t-test was conducted assessing generation status and the sum of perceived barriers. A Pearson correlation, design was used, for the purpose of searching for a relationship between the number of years in the U.S. and age with the sum of perceived barriers. Results for all test conducted showed no significance between all variables. In conclusion, although findings for this study did not support past research it is important to address the limitations to continue to develop culturally appropriate programs to help reduce the disparity of Latinos within mental health services.

Abstract:
Looking for best teaching practices has always been an important issue for educators. Teacher education programs, school districts, and researchers have gone to great lengths to train teachers to teach "better." Yet, students are still not performing well in school, specifically minority students. The achievement gap and dropout rates only get larger between Latino students and their White peers. According to National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES, 2002), in the United States the drop out rate for Latino students is 23.8% compared to 6.8% for White students. With such disparities occurring, what is being done to address this large, under-performing population? What do Latino students need in order to succeed in the American school system? One of the known ways to help Latino students succeed is culturally responsive teaching (Banks, 2006). Are culturally responsive teaching practices the best pedagogical approach for Latino students? And if so, do teachers understand what these practices entail? This inquiry was a qualitative study highlighting the teaching practices of three self-identified culturally responsive teachers working in an inner-city school that is predominately populated by low performing Latino students. This study involved observations and interviews with three teachers and employed ethnographic methods highlighting not only what culturally relevant teachers in classroom practices with Latino students, but also how these practices help teachers' efficacy improve.

Abstract:
In the medical field, advertisements act as markers of healthcare professionals’ marketing capabilities. Advertisements also illustrate a marketer’s knowledge of the target consumer population given the signs and cultural symbols within a specific advertisement. An assessment was performed of advertising aimed at attracting Hispanic patients in regards to health and development. Advertisements from the Phoenix, Arizona based Spanish newspaper La Voz Arizona were analyzed, as well as Spanish-language paper handouts, bilingual signs, and pamphlets from medical clinics in Tucson, Arizona. In each form of communication, there were significant community indicators of culturally sensitive semiotics specific to the Hispanic population, particularly that of Hispanic females. Among the most prevalent topics displayed in the observed advertisements were those of fertility, birth control, and health-benefiting, family lifestyle habits, with grandparents often included in this definition of “familia.” Spanish language advertising in the realm of healthcare does not appear to be lacking, however, there is a growing demographic of bilingual Hispanics that participate in English language forms of popular media that may not be reached by such communicative methodology. Fostering a popular media environment which renders accessibility to these Hispanics via the utilization of culturally sensitive semiotics is imperative for robust economic development and enhanced service in healthcare.

Abstract:
The project for the integration of Latin America is as old as the independences themselves. It was first formulated during the course of political movements and military conflicts that would eventually lead to the fall of the Iberian colonial empires in America and it extends itself, in several formulations, to the contemporary. This researchs focus is on the integrationism devised in the years 1810 and 1820, in which Simón Bolívar is the main expression. The Amphictyonic Congress of Panama was held in 1826 through Bolívars direct action, bringing together Spanish American republics in order to constitute an organized body that would unify the various governments arising from the fight against Spain into a single institutional instance. Bolivars work as well as the 1826 treaties, the primary sources for this research, are analyzed and problematized. In addition, the developments of these ideas in new integrationist elaborations throughout Latin Americans history are also analyzed from the perspective of the impact suffered by that first elaboration. This research defends that Simon Bolivar remains a symbol of Latin American unity and his ideas remain reference to the integrationist debate because the issues raised in the context of post-independence, to a greater or less extent, remain current even today.

Abstract:
The purpose of this art therapy research is to explore the experiences of Latino immigrant men to have a more cohesive understanding of their mental health needs. The study utilizes a focus group of eight Latino men. This study seeks to understand the prevalence of poor mental health in the population and the coping methods used for psychological distress. The study also intends to gain information regarding psychological stress prior to migration, during the actual migration experience, and the psychosocial and psychological challenges after migrating. In addition, the study analyzes the family influences of mental health in relation to male gender roles. Through the art, the men were able to create narratives that described their experiences as Latino male immigrants. The men spoke about the emotional difficulties of leaving their homeland. The men also discussed the loneliness and financial instability they experiences when they first arrived to the country as immigrants. The men were also able to recognize some of their strengths and accomplishment. In addition, the men emphasized the importance of God and family in establishing happiness.

Abstract:
The study focused on the attitudes and beliefs regarding perceived and actual burden experienced by Latino caregivers and their use of formal support services. It also looked at the needs of Latino caregivers and explored their beliefs about why they had taken on the caregiver role, the responsibilities the role entailed, and coping skills used by these caregivers. Participants were obtained from two Alzheimer's caregiver support groups in the East Los Angeles area, and an adult day health care center in the high desert area of San Bernardino county. The author used both qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaires. The findings suggest that high beliefs about responsibility to the family and low levels of service use may contribute to the stress and strain that these caregivers feel. Latino caregivers have been providing a significant amount of care without the help of sufficient formal services. Recommendations for social work practice, policy and further research are provided. Statistics for the study were generated by using SPSS Graduate Pack 13 for Windows.
