Abstract:
Fraud is a problem that is often faced, one of which is the Village Credit Institution. This study wants to examine the effect of whistleblowing and the application of the law of karma phala on fraud prevention. This research was conducted on 34 LPDs in Denpasar City. Research respondents used 84 LPD employees who were determined by the non-probability sampling method. Multiple regression analysis is used to test the research hypothesis. The results showed that whistleblowing and the application of the law of karma phala had a positive effect on fraud prevention in the Denpasar City LPD. KNKG (2008) states that the effectiveness of whistleblowing will increase the participation of the community and company employees to dare to act in the context of preventing fraud and corruption by reporting to the authorities. Individuals who believe in the law of karma phala will avoid unlawful acts.

Abstract:
Virtually all interpreters of Hinduism agree that the notions of samsara, karma, and moksa are central to nearly all varieties of Hinduism. That is, it is agreed that most Hindus assume continuing reincarnations (samsara), that a person's current incarnation and experiences are, at least in part, the fruit of past actions (karma), and that release or liberation (moksa) from this ongoing cycle is possible and desirable. As David Kinsley (1982:8) says, “certain underlying beliefs are accepted by most Hindus: karma, samsara, and moksa, for example.” J. L. Brockington (1981:5) notes, “Doctrines concerning … samsara, karma and moksa … may be regarded as axiomatic by most schools of Hindu philosophy.” Thomas Hopkins (1971:50) observes, “By the early sixth century B.C.E., transmigration and the “law of karma” had been generally accepted as basic facts of existence and were rarely challenged from that time on by any major Indian system of thought.” According to A. L. Basham (1989:42): “These [karma and samsara] are the beliefs of nearly all Indians, other than Muslims, Christians, and Parsis, down to the present day.”

Abstract:
This article provides an analysis of the concept of karma and related concepts, such as rebirth, merit, and transfer of merit, along with a historical survey focusing on classical texts. The attractiveness of the belief in karma lies in two main reasons. The first is the moral ideal of getting one’s just deserts on the basis of one’s actions and omissions. The second reason involves the idea of rebirth. The belief in both karma and rebirth can bring consolation with the hope of life hereafter, where one’s destiny is determined not by chance, but by the moral quality of one’s actions in this or previous lives. The belief in karma also incorporates diverging elements, such as transfer of merit. The practice of transfer of merit serves to improve an individual’s moral and religious status through rituals or other suitable means, while the doctrine of karma itself strongly speaks to the strict fulfilment of retributive justice. Both motives—fulfilling justice according to the law of karma and improving one’s moral status through transfer of merit—are psychologically powerful and attractive, although their mutual compatibility is debatable.

Abstract:
This thesis aims to define the scope of Article 3 ECHR, concerning children with traumas in registration and identification camps. The interpretation of the scope of Article 3 ECHR is based on a case study of the cases Khan v France and J.R. and Others v Greece. The result of the case study in conjunction with relevant legislation is applied to the Mavrovouni camp in Lesvos, Greece. The normative approach in this thesis is combined with hermeneutic analysis. The case study shows that inadequate housing conditions are unlikely to violate Article 3 ECHR. Nonetheless, the threshold of Article 3 ECHR is broader when children are subject to the conditions. Children are internationally recognized as more vulnerable, especially when they are traumatized. In conclusion, it is to say that a violation of Article 3 ECHR can be made out in the Mavrovouni camp concerning children that live in the camp.

Abstract:
Bruhn (2008) and Griffiths (1978) have referred in passing to Messiaen's use of non-Western content as an appropriation, but a consideration of its potential moral and aesthetic failings within the scope of modern literature on artistic cultural appropriation is an underexplored topic. Messiaen's first encounter with India came during his student years, by way of a Sanskrit version of Saṅgītaratnākara (c. 1240 CE) written by the thirteenth-century Hindu musicologist Śārṅgadeva. I examine Messiaen's use of Indian deśītālas within a cultural appropriation context. Non-Western music provided a safe space for him to explore the familiar, and served as validation for previously held creative interests, prompting the expansion and development of rhythmic techniques from the unfamiliar. Chapter 1 examines the different forms of artistic cultural appropriation, drawing on the ideas of James O. Young and Conrad G. Brunk (2012) and Bruce H. Ziff and Pratima V. Rao (1997). I consider the impact of power dynamic inequality between 'insider' and 'outsider' cultures. I evaluate the relation between aesthetic errors and authenticity. Chapter 2 considers the internal and external factors and that prompted Messiaen to draw on non-Western rhythm. I examine Messiaen's appropriation of Indian rhythm in relation to Bloomian poetic misreading, and whether his appropriation of Indian rhythm reveals an authentic intention. Chapter 3 analyses Messiaen's interpretation of Śārṅgadeva's 120 deśītālas and its underlying Hindu symbolism. Chapter 4 contextualises Messiaen's Japanese poem Sept haïkaï (1962) in relation to other European Orientalist artworks of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, and also in relation to Michael Sullivan's (1987: 209) three-tiered definitions of japonism.

This thesis explores the “three sutra kstigarbha” ; it is mainly Research in possession for the sutra of Three Kstigarbhaby karma concept and practice of Law to research and discuss this special classic. There are sutra of Three Kstigarbhaby of this classics, the commonly known as the Mahayana Buddhism classics. The first one, the one karma in “Ten Lun sutra of kstigarbha” is directly from the conversation between the Buddha and the kstigarbha Bodhisattva in the forms of commonly known/worshipped Ten Buddha Rounds for eliminating degenerated times, ten-rounds evil being, and the most discussed Wicked ten-round with on the keys to search and to cure them through good and kindness. The personal vested interest of the present can be realized and granted through the use/practice of the "Big Mahayana Buddha Collection of Ten Treatises”. By practicing this Buddha’s teaching one can receive vested interest now; through the strength-of-ten, and the effort-of-endurance/persistence one can redeem oneself. If you do not repent of the past out of karma, there will be many obstacles along the spiritual path. Therefore, one must repent, eliminate complex thoughts, observe, refine, search wisdom in accordance with the cited Mahayana Buddha Ten-Treatise and practice in daily life/business and turn evil karma into inner peace and goodness. The reason of the first half of the “Observe Goodness and Evil Karma” treatise is to deal with the difficulties to practice because only intelligence and peacefulness is not sufficient; to practice, taking up examination to observe is the key. The second halves illustrate and discuss the philosophy of “emptiness” and practice to achieve the inner peace and wisdom simultaneously. Only through this dual processes, one can be in the real world yet be able cleansing once inner self to arrive at a state of inner peace and wisdom to achieve Dharma. This article uses “Observation of Good and Evil karma” to guide my thoughts and methods of meditation and repentance to lead the way for the purpose of relieve the pain and suffering. by the kstigarbha Bodhisattva he willing" is one of the most widely known in scriptures in China that fully demonstrates kstigarbha Bodhisattva compassion and guidance. It is a teaching of unconditional love and respect to ones parents and elders. It recorded the story of how a Brahmin woman gives herself totally to save her mother suffering from hell. She gives support to the Buddhist temple as a start. Those deeds led her meeting up the devil and rescue her mother from the hell. However, in the process, “kstigarbha Bodhisattva “she made promises that she would receive eternal suffering in return from her mother’s freedom from hell. Buddha wishes kstigarbha Bodhisattva that taught unconditional love and respect of ones parents and Buddhism will enables the beings to take themselves out/away from hell, ghost of hunger, animal, human and others, The six undesired live forms. And Buddha issued oath "Hell is not empty, I vow not becoming a saint.” Therefore, whoever annunciate His Name and pays respect to him or his form will receive unlimited blessing. kstigarbha Bodhisattva has the experience the six undesired live forms and observe the birth, old age , sickness and death process. The congruence of his experience, kstigarbha Bodhisattva has illustrated his compassion in his teaching. For those who have been studying his teaching, the fulfillment and cause-and-effect is more than obvious and deserve deep thoughts and in-depth study. These are six chapters to discuss " three sutra kstigarbha “. The first two chapters are the illustration, investigation and discussion, the last three chapters are on the architecture thought out and the last chapter is the conclusion. The “ three sutra kstigarbha” a self-contained masterpiece where the life cause and effect, karma, reincarnation, cause of confused thinking, enlargement and the results of the concept and cognitive psychology are evidenced. A clear understanding of the meaning of the karma that leads its exploration of the ideological of "karma" is clearly illustrated in this thesis.

Abstract:
The abstract of PhD dissertation ‘The Criminal liability of deployed polish soldiers’ written by Wojciech MENDEL. For many years, Polish soldiers have taking part in military operations conducted by The United Nations, The European Union, The North Atlantic Treaty Organization and coalitions ad hoc as created by international communities. As a consequence of political decisions regarding the engagement The Polish Armed Forces into international military operations - polish troops are deployed to conflict zones. This situation means that soldiers are displaced not only geographically, but they are bounded by a differing legal framework. Soldiers have right to use a military force whilst conducting hostilities and could be lawfully attacked by an opposing side of armed conflict. This dissertation is focused on investigating the criminal law framework of military operations executed outside the polish state therefor; both domestic military criminal law and international criminal law were examined as the two main factors which modify universal principles of criminal responsibility in battlefield environments. The main research conclusion found that the method of implementation of war crimes into polish criminal law through a general and open-ended reference to international law to face, prove to be insufficient in regard to the principle of legality and thereby caused gaps between the Rome Statute and domestic law. By comparison, the number of ways in which other states defined core international crimes within their jurisdictions dissertation, identified different options which are open to the domestic legislator. Additionally the research leads to the recommendations of a few other minor changes in military criminal law.

Abstract:
An integral approach of the boundary layer analysis is employed for the modeling of fluid flow around and heat transfer from infinite circular cylinders in power-law fluids. The Von Karman-Pohlhausenmethod is used to solve the momentum integral equation whereas the energy integral equation is solved for both isothermal and isoflux boundary conditions. A fourth-order velocity profile in the hydrodynamic boundary layer and a third-order temperature profile in the thermal boundary layer are used to solve both integral equations. Closed form expressions are obtained for the drag and heat transfer coefficients that can be used for a wide range of the power-law index, and generalized Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. It is found that pseudoplastic fluids offer less skin friction and higher heat transfer coefficients than dilatant fluids. As a result, the drag coefficients decrease and the heat transfer increases with the decrease in power-law index. Comparison of the analytical models with available experimental/numerical data proves the applicability of the integral approach for power-law fluids.

Abstract:
The interaction between the cylinder motion and the wake is a complex feedback phenomenon in which the symmetry relationship between the wake and the cylinder motion plays a key role. Depending on the frequency of oscillation the symmetry relationship between the unforced von Karman wake and the imposed forced oscillations can induce a series of bifurcations. This detailed bifurcation behavior is the subject of study in the present work. 2D and 3D simulations are carried out for a Reynolds number Re=1000. As the inline cylinder forcing amplitude is increased, the wake undergoes a series of bifurcations and associated changes in the flow structure. Although the 2D analysis is clearly non-physical, it leads to a ‘simpler’ and more tractable model. Detailed comparison of the 2D and 3D POD modes provides insight into the forced wake dynamics. The 3D spatial mode shapes are significantly similar to those from 2D simulations. The relative modal energy distribution captures well the wake flow complexity. The first mode contains over 90% of the flow energy in the 2D simulations. This ratio drops significantly in the 3D case to around 45%. Clearly 3D effects are very important when it comes to energy distribution between the modes. However, the predominance of the first mode seems high enough to maintain the 2D-like dynamics. The wake flow is found to undergo two main transitions with increased forcing. The first is periodic shedding to chaotic shedding. The second is chaotic shedding to half-frequency shedding caused by a period-doubling bifurcation. The 2D simulations correctly predict these bifurcations — including the type and the number of bifurcations. The results suggest that the forced wake dynamics are primarily dominated by two-dimensional rather than 3D dynamics. However, 3D effects are important in determining the exact parameter values where bifurcations occur. A previously developed low order analytical model, based on 2D simulations, is also used to predict the wake bifurcation behavior. The relevance of the low order model has interesting implications for VIV control.

Abstract:
Abstract This contribution is focused on a straight composite beam with multiple piezoelectric layers under the action of an axial support motion. In the sense of v. Karman a nonlinear formulation for the axial strain is used and the equations of motion are derived by means of the Hamilton formalism. This system turns out to be a special class of infinite dimensional systems, the so called Hamilton AI-systems with external inputs. In order to suppress the excited vibrations two infinite control laws are proposed. The first one is an infinite PD-feedback law and the second one is based on the nonlinear H∞-design, where an exact solution of the corresponding Hamilton Jacobi Isaacs equation is presented. The necessary quantities for the control laws can be measured by appropriate space-wise shaped sensors and the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point can be proved.

Abstract:
The periodically forced cylinder wake exhibits complex but highly symmetrical patterns. In recent work, the authors have exploited symmetry-group equivariant bifurcation theory to derive low order equations describing, approximately, the dominant nonlinear dynamics of wake mode interactions. The models have been shown to qualitatively predict the observed bifurcations suggesting that the Karman wake remains, dynamically, a fairly simple system at least when viewed in 2D. Preliminary experimental data are presented supporting the feasibility of using 2D simulation results for the derivation of the low order model parameters. A POD analysis of the wake PIV velocity field yields flow modes closely similarly to those obtained via 2D CFD computations for Re in the 1000 range. The paper presents new results of simulations for Re = 200. For this low Reynolds number, the forced Karman wake exhibits rich dynamics dominated by quasi-periodicity, mode locking, torus doubling and chaos. The low Re torus breakdown may be explained by the Afraimovich-Shilnikov theorem. Interestingly, in a previous analysis for the higher Re number, Re = 1000, transition to a period-doubled flow state was found to occur via a route akin to the Takens-Bogdanov bifurcation scenario.

Abstract:
In the present paper the attention is focused on the vortex shedding from the trailing edge of the rotor blade at the design operating condition. We measured the relative velocity, the turbulence intensity, the spectrum of velocity fluctuation and the in-phase velocity fluctuation near the trailing edge along the blade span. The time variations of amplitude of velocity fluctuations from 1500 Hz to 1900 Hz in the wake of the suction and pressure side of the trailing edge are out of phase with each other simultaneously at the mid span region. Karman vortices were formed in the near wake of the trailing edge of rotor blade intermittently. As the distance between two measured locations along the blade span increased, the in-phase rate of two velocity fluctuations decreased. This rate became maximum value at the time lag of 0 s. As the measured radius of the moved sensor increased, the time lag decreased. The rotational axis of Karman vortex inclined for the trailing edge of rotor blade.

Abstract:
In the present paper, the characteristics of vortex shedding and Aeolian tone radiated from a finned tube with helical strakes were experimentally investigated. The helical strakes are mounted spirally around a serrated finned tube surface. We measured the turbulence intensity in the wake, velocity fluctuation spectrum, the coherence of velocity fluctuations in the spanwise direction and SPL spectrum. The Aeolian tone radiated from the finned tube with helical strakes at high Reynolds number was smaller than the case of no helical strakes. The helical stakes were effective to reduce the Aeolian tone radiated from the finned tube. And the existence of helical strakes of large diameter caused the decrease of the periodicity and the turbulence intensity in the wake of the finned tube. The coherent scale of Karman vortex in the spanwise direction is smaller than that of a finned tube without helical strakes. However, the effect of helical strakes of small diameter on vortex shedding depended on the Reynolds number. The Karman vortex was clearly formed even in the case of helical strakes of small diameter at low Reynolds number. The existence of helical strakes of small diameter around a finned tube caused the increase of the periodicity of vortex shedding from a finned tube. The coherent scale of Karman vortex in the spanwise direction was larger than that of a finned tube without helical strakes.

Abstract:
The dynamics of thermoabrasion coasts on loose sediments under permafrost conditions are highly variable due to several factors: length of the dynamic period of the year, mechanic composition of the frozen ground and its ice content, hydrometeorological conditions, and human impact. Multiannual monitoring of the coastal zone was carried out by Lab. Geoecology of the North (Moscow State University) at the 22 km long Kharasavey deposit site, Western Coast of Yamal Peninsula (Kara Sea). The methods include direct measurements and observations (repeated topographic survey of shore transects from 1981 to 2012) along with remote sensing data analysis (images from 1964 to 2011). This allowed producing detailed characteristics of coastal dynamics. At the site, thermoabrasion coasts occupy the most part, and accumulative coasts are present in the north. Data on natural relief forming factors and ground composition are included in the detailed geomorphologic map of the site. Shore retreat rate shows correlation to amounts of wind-wave energy and to specific wind directions. Human impact on the coast includes dredging at the port channel, mining of sand, driving motor vehicles, and deposition of construction debris. Relations between shore retreat rate and aforementioned factors were studied, including dependencies on ice content, and shore segmentation was carried out. This allows for coastal dynamics forecasts in the region.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper summarizes the research on transonic turbine vane wake flows carried out in a Transonic Planar Cascade at the National Research Council of Canada between 1987 and 1995. The cascade used in the research is a large scale, continuously operating, inflow facility which was developed to study both flow phenomena and aerodynamics of turbine vanes. Research was initially directed at investigating the apparent redistribution of total temperature (energy) from the centre to the edge of the vane wake. This redistribution was found to be a real physical phenomenon that correlated extremely well with wake total pressure distributions indicating that the mechanism which redistributes the energy also has a direct effect on the losses associated with the vane wake. Both phenomena were found to be a function of Mach number in that the losses and the time-averaged total temperature difference between the centre and edge of the wake increased to a maximum as the Mach number approached 0.95 and then decreased by half as the Mach number was raised to 1.3. Following Kurosaka et al (1987) conclusion that the redistribution of energy behind a circular cylinder was caused by the vortices which were shed from the trailing edge an additional experimental program was initiated to study the details of the unsteady vane wakes by the use of high speed schlieren photographs and high frequency response transducers to measure unsteady static and total pressures. This research has confirmed that over the range of Mach numbers, from low to high subsonic, a von Karman vortex street is shed continuously from the vanes. What this research has revealed is that as the transonic regime is traversed, the von Karman vortex street still occurs but only as one of a number of different and highly transient vortex shedding patterns. This breakdown of the stable von Karman vortex street is associated with the migration of the origin of the vortices from the trailing edge of the vane to the nodal point formed by the trailing edge shock waves and the confluence of the two trailing edge shear layers. The cause of the redistribution of energy within the wake and of the high wake losses is the shedding of a continuous von Karman vortex street from the vane. In the subsonic flow regime the presence of a stable von Karman vortex street leads to high wake losses due to the depression of the base pressure while the redistribution of total temperature (energy) is caused by the combined pumping action of the vortices. The strength of the vortices and the above phenomena increase with increasing Mach number. As the transonic flow regime is encountered and the supersonic flow regime entered the coherent structures in the wake become unstable, less von Karman-like, and occur less frequently and the origin of the vortices migrates downstream. This leads to a significant elevation in base pressure and redistribution of energy, thereby implying that significant gains in engine stage efficiency can be realized by the destabilization or elimination of the von Karman vortex street from the vane wake.

Abstract:
As COVID-19 vaccines have been deployed and scaled, concerns about vaccine acceptance have emerged. Effective management of the virus requires that communities everywhere buy into the public health measures designed to protect them, including vaccines. Low acceptance presents a serious challenge for achieving sufficient coverage to reduce circulation of the virus and the risk of new variants emerging. Surveys conducted early in the pandemic showed that the Middle East region had one of the lowest COVID-19 vaccine acceptance rates globally. The low acceptance is driven by specific factors in the region and its different countries and populations; these factors need to be taken into account when formulating policy, programmes and interventions. This review synthesises evidence on vaccine acceptance among two key groups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region: teachers and health workers. It draws from academic studies most of which were cross-sectional studies, largely conducted between February 2020 and June 2021, and grey literature reports, including social listening reports. This review is intended to inform strategies for risk communications and community engagement (RCCE) relating to COVID-19 vaccine uptake, with the aim of boosting confidence in and acceptance of the vaccines among these groups across the region. It is part of the Social Science in Humanitarian Action Platform (SSHAP) series on social science considerations relating to COVID-19 vaccines and was developed for SSHAP by Anthrologica (Nadia Butler and Soha Karam) at the request of the UNICEF MENA Regional Office. It was reviewed by Rose Aynsley (WHO) Amaya Gillespie (UNICEF) and Olivia Tulloch (Anthrologica). The evidence review is the responsibility of SSHAP.

Abstract:
Given the health, social, and economic upheavals of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is understandable anxiety about another virus, monkeypox, quickly emerging in many countries around the world. In West and Central Africa, where the disease has been endemic for several decades, monkeypox transmission in people usually happens in short, controllable chains of infection after contact with infected animal reservoirs. Recent monkeypox infections have been identified in non-endemic regions, with most occurring through longer chains of human-to-human spread in people without a history of contact with animals or travel to endemic regions. These seemingly different patterns of disease have prompted public health investigation. However, ending chains of monkeypox transmission requires a better understanding of the social, ecological and scientific interconnections between endemic and non-endemic areas. In this set of companion briefs, we lay out social considerations from previous examples of disease emergence to reflect on 1) the range of response strategies available to control monkeypox, and 2) specific considerations for monkeypox risk communication and community engagement (RCCE). We aim for these briefs to be used by public health practitioners and advisors involved in developing responses to the ongoing monkeypox outbreak, particularly in non-endemic countries. This brief on social considerations for monkeypox response was written by Syed Abbas (IDS), Soha Karam (Anthrologica), Megan Schmidt-Sane (IDS), and Jennifer Palmer (LSHTM), with contributions from Hayley MacGregor (IDS), Olivia Tulloch (Anthrologica), and Annie Wilkinson (IDS).
