Electron microscopy observations of α–ZrP whiskers with the NaCl structure, grown by chemical vapor deposition at 1300 °C, showed that there exists a hexagonal structure region (a = 0.369 nm and c = 1.248 nm) near the surface of the whiskers. High-resolution lattice image observations revealed that the method of stacking the eight-layered hexagonal structure is different from the reported hexagonal β–ZrP. In addition to the eight-layered structure, 12-layered and 16-layered structures were also observed, indicating a variety of ZrP polymorphisms.

Abstract In this work, we have prepared a novel laminated bimodal structure with layer-by-layer distribution of αp and αs phase in high temperature titanium alloy by α+β phase rolling and aging treatment. The lamellar bimodal microstructure is comprised of long-primary αp and secondary αs phase in the Ti-6.0Al-3Sn-5Zr-0.5Mo-1.0Nb-1.0Ta-0.4Si-0.2Er alloy. During α+β phase rolling at 990 °C, the primary αp grain deformed to elongated layer structure, while the lamella secondary αs deformed to kinked and broken chaos morphology. The refractive indices in the guiding, substrate and cladding layers are given by n2 = n02 and n2 = n12 + α|E|2 + β|E|4, respectively. The stability analysis by means of composite phase portrait construction seems to be in agreement with reference [1]. Instability of the symmetric waves occurs at powers where the asymmetric waves appear. Stability is restored at a second bifurcation point fo

Abstract:
In this work, the structure of human serum albumin in aqueous solution was studied upon interaction with Mg2+, Mn2+, Co2+ and Cu2+ ions. The transition metal ions provoke an increase in the content of β-layers and a decrease in the quantity of α-helices in the protein structure. In the presence of Cu2+, aggregation and a change in the sign of the surface charge of protein particles are observed.

Abstract:
We report the observation of a new avalanche phenomenon in superlattices. This effect is characterized by a large ratio of the multiplications for holes and electrons implying β ≫ α and is very different in nature from the previously studied band-edge discontinuity assisted ionization in quantum wells. The i region of our p+in+ structures, grown by MBE, consists of an undoped (n ≃1015 cm−3) Al0.48ln0.52As/Ga0.47ln0.53As superlattice. Six wafers with well and barrier thicknesses ranging from 100 to 470 Å and a number of periods varying from 20 to 50 were studied. In addition similar MBE structu
