Abstract Introduction Cultivation of spirulina at commercial-scales relies on analytical grade–based media, which are expensive and so are the product. Purpose This study assessed the biomass, proximate composition, and other useful compounds in Spirulina (Arthrospira fusiformis) produced with a cost-effective culture medium (LCMA), and the results were compared with those from a standard Zarrouk medium–grown spirulina. Methods The LCMA medium was formulated by using a commercial NPK10-20-20 fertilizer as a source of the three major nutrients for spirulina growth, and other three ingredients f

Abstract Lunar crustal magnetic anomalies (LCMA) are sub-ion-gyroradius structures that have been shown to stand off the solar wind (SW) plasma from the Moon’s surface, forming shock-like discontinuities and reflecting incident SW protons. In this Letter, the results of high-resolution, 2D fully kinetic simulations show a bursty electron-only magnetic reconnection in the SW-LCMA interaction region, characterized by the quasiperiodic formation and ejection of magnetic islands and strong parallel electron flows along the X-point separator lines. Abstract:
Freight transportation of goods and commodities is a necessity and is often a significant portion of the overall investment in industrial development, especially in the natural resource industry. The economic costs of developing infrastructure have long been factored into the project costs, but environmental or social impacts have received less attention. In addition, alternative transportation modes are rarely compared from both economic and environmental perspectives. This paper performs a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for truck-only, multimodal and rail transportation options to transport ore

In this paper both a coarse and fine wood fibre type of Lost Circulation Material (LCM) is tested in the laboratory. It is shown how these fibre treatments work. The fibre type is partially oil wetting making them suitable for application in oil based drilling fluids. The fine material helps stopping small drilling induced fractures, while the coarse helps stopping lost circulation into several natural fractures or coal or conglomerate formations. In the article, the selection of wood fibres is described in more detail. Testing of the fine materials were conducted conventionally by pumping dri

ABSTRACT: Lost circulation events occur frequently during the drilling process. Due to their sudden and difficult to predict nature, they are often difficult to control in the field, resulting in low success rates and increased costs. Therefore, accurate formulation of lost circulation materials (LCMs) is essential for effective lost circulation management. However, the current lack of clear guidelines for LCM formulation in the field introduces uncertainty and subjectivity. Traditional machine learning methods struggle with the diversity of LCM types and combinations, making direct formulatio

Abstract Induced lost circulation in depleted sandstone formations is a risk in most deepwater drilling operations, often leading to costly operational delays involving remedial treatments. Wellbore strengthening (WBS) using lost circulation material (LCM) to plug an estimated fracture width is one approach to minimizing this risk of lost circulation. However, most simulations for estimating fracture widths are either numerical or linear elastic models that do not account for wellbore inclination, azimuth, and different stresses. WBS planning involves fracture width estimation, which are kept

The article analyzes the results of the survey of 75 lecturers on using learning content management system (LCMS) Moodle in the educational process. It is defined that more than 75% of the respondents use LCMS Moodle. The lecturers up to 30 or over 60 years old, with up to 3-year-work experience in Universities need methodic assistance. Textual e-learning resources are widely used in developed courses while video and audio are not used enough. LCMS Moodle is mostly used during exams or tests and student work, and using LCMS Moodle should be intensified in lectures, laboratory and practical cla
